<rant> Anyone using the word 'Malus' please stop playing Eve and go back to WoW where I assume that word comes from. In Eve we call them 'drawbacks', which is actually more accurate than using 'Malus'.
Now thats out of the way:
People complaining about this ship or that ship being overpowered compared to the others are clearly not paying attention to the Crystal Ball warning. I assume you are also the aformentioned WoW players.
These stats are like an Alpha release of what the ships will be, we don't even have information on their bonuses! How can you make any conclusions when you have a fraction of the information?! Please, please, PLEASE, behave like an Eve veteran with some common sense; admire the pretty new ships, think about what they could be with a bit of polishing, and then offer support to the devs. Your whining is not welcome, and people are getting FED UP. </rant>
<Common sense> Ooh look at the new ships! I'm looking forward to seeing the final versions, complete with stats. Please get a dev blog up soon so we know the real purpose of all the new mods and don't have to speculate wildly. </common sense> ============================================

from some of the previous bonus talk, I feel I should point out that a negative reduction/penalty is an increase/bonus and a negative increase/bonus is a reduction/penalty.
e.g. mass reduction: '-80%' should read as a 80% mass increase.
that is all

I also have no clue where Malus comes from but it's not WoW (unless it just suddenly appeared in the last 2 months)
I do think you're right too many people are whining their heads off though when it's not even been released.
For the love of god (for those that are whining) this is basically a rough draft people. If any of these ships make it to patch without being changed at least once I'd probably die of shock. Let's see what the bonuses are that will give us a better idea of what their use it. I'll admit that I find it disconcerting that the maruaders on average only seem to have 4 weapon slots but I'm sure CCP has something in mind for all those other high slots.
PS does anyone have any concrete info on bandwidth for drones?

Please guys, would you think that CCP would publish an item that makes two others obsolete?? Please think before posting and discussing
are you kidding those marauders are about useless, they are worse than the T1 imo, i mean the bonuses on them are going to be mental to make up for that shocking fitting, truthfully they have made super expensive salvage ships... thats pretty much all they're good for... the kronos for example:
- barely has T2 res - has abysmal sensor strength - has ever so slightly higher hp - less turrets - less highs (which really doesn't help for salvaging) - mental skill req (which i have, but for a salvage ship?! this is going to take my alt months :p) - high speed = good, but thats about it
frankly i think the marauders are a joke, they have one good bonus and a lump of drawbacks for probably 5 - 10 times the cost of the BS, obviously cant see the bonuses yet but come on, i get the feeling it ain't getting much better.
P.S. im too upset to look at the other ships, i cant take any more disappointment today
edit: perhaps the ships can enter a kind of siege mode...? please!
i hope marauders get a tractor beam and ROF/damage bonuses. sounds like great solo 0.0 ratters. I mean honestly.. who (with the required skills) can't take down a 1.5 mil bs spawn with only 4 launchers on a raven? throw in some decent bonuses and faction spawns might be possible. I don't want to start paying for a second account just to have a decent salvager running around behind me cleaning up.. ============================ my signature is confidential |

Nanofibers I believe show -12.5% mass reduction in their showinfo, so really, its an ambiguous value.
Anyway, I've got no idea as to how any of this is going to go, so I'm probably not going to bother speculating too much about this and just wait and see =P ------------------------------------ My statements are not those of my corp or of my alliance, nor anyone else.

On topic, the dev blog and placeholder stats lead one to believe the Marauders will have some form of siege available.
"we also wanted something which would work for PvE play styles. This doesn't mean they will work well for only mission runners, so there is no need to brand them with the misnomer of the "mission ship"."
This implies superior mission performance to t1 ships, which would mean superior tank and gank over extended time periods.
The remaining slots would be free for tractors and siege (though a medium/large tractor beam would be needed to make this practical due to the poor mobility of shield tanked runners). In PvP of course the extra slots would be free for all sorts of alternative hi-slot goodness, neuts, nos, reps, etc.
I can't get on the test server at the moment, but if someone could post fitting for the warp disruption field generator I'd be most grateful. I've been hoping for a hi-slot tackling module for for quite some time and would like to know if the fitting restricts it to one ship class (heavy interdictors) through high CPU and a reduction bonus on the ship, and I would also like to confirm that it is a hi-slot module.
Also could the new ore types be a method of bringing the market back down away from the mineral caps? If these ores offer significant yield of low end minerals in exchange for, perhaps, a greater cost to mine (via crystals or some-such) then when the market reaches the kind of levels it has now these ores will become profitable to mine and ensure through increased supply that mineral prices do not hit the caps.

-speculation-
Oxford dictionary says different.
malice
ò noun the desire to do harm to someone; ill will.
ù ORIGIN Old French, from Latin malus æbadÆ.
So Drawback or Disadvantage would seem to make more sense if were talking about ENGLISH and not Latin.
Eve community to decide which makes most sense, I was merely pointing out.

Originally by: Bekador Just a wild guess, but how sound this:
Marauder role bonus: 99% reduction in CPU and powergrid need for Siege Module
or a specialised, new marauder siege module with shield boost, armor repair, tracking and damage bonusses (boni, whatever). With this module 4 Weapon slots will deliver enough damage with much less cap/ammo usage, better tracking and make theese Ships very usefull in Missions and pvp.
i would say this is very unlikely since the 4 turrets with the 625% damage bonus will be the equivalent of 25 guns, which could outdamage a dread shooting at smaller targets like BS and BC, i would expect some new lesser form of siege module, maybe giving a 100 - 200% bonus to damage and some tanking bonuses, i would also imagine it would have a reduced consumption rate of whatever it would use as fuel (prob stront)
Originally by: Cailais Lots of speculation on the Marauder ships, so I'll throw my guess in.
Has anyone considered they might get a bonuses for fitting Capital Class weapons? i.e. Dread guns on a BS?
"Where's the logic Cail? And can I have what you're smoking?"
Well we know that cap ships are likely to appear in Level 5 Missions and above, and not everyone owns a Dread, so maybe these ships are like budget Dreads, or heavy gun boats?
Just a thought.
C.
i dont think we will see XL guns on a BS either, unless the ships are specifically designed as pos/capital killers that can use gates and go through high sec, though that may make killing high sec pos possible.

#1, why would a ship that Oveur has specifically said was/is designed as a 'long range' (i.e. high endurance, sustainable) ship want to have a siege module that consumes stront which takes up cargo space and costs a lot to use?
#2, CCP won't be fitting capital sized guns to BS models any time soon. It would just look ridicuous.
I do think that we'll see a +100% damage bonus for guns/launchers either as a role bonus or a ship bonus (good way to waste a ship bonus, 'good' meaning sneaky, not actually good for us the players).
Either way, a Kronos will look silly with half it's guns missing.

No new hulls promised. And all t2 ships are based directly on a t1 hull, so you just see new paint schemes.
