This is my 2nd topic that i did about this issue. It's 'cause i cannot play eve anymore and want to get it fixed asap. My corp needs me, my friends needs me and i love this game.
Description of the problem
Eve crashes after random period of time. Depending on the hardware configuration it can be from few 2nds to hour, maybe more. The specifics are not known and it seems to be random. I've noticed that this problem tends to be on geforce fx5200/5500 graphic cards. Windows creates an error message as follows :
Quote:
AppName: exefile.exe AppVer: 4.10.0.44942 ModName: _trinity.dll Modver: 4.10.0.45514 Offset: 00090c00
Nothing can help it unless we can change the graphic card or full pc's, but that's not something that everyone has cash for.
This is the list of people having or that had this issue

I ask any ISD/GM reply to this topic, so that we could know that ccp is aware of this issue.

Today for some reason i managed to play whole 90 minutes without the error message. It's maybe not important, but it was from moment when my petition went into status "in action". Instead of error message my client froze with the whole system, once it even made a reboot once. Now it's normal, so few minutes and error.

Yeah still the same here. Login and then Play .But this issue is not since Trinity on my System. It comes with the MINIPATCH TEST?? Whatever at 17.1.08.Before my System runs Perfekt. And now Sometimes it Works 2 Hours ,sometimes it Crashed all 3 minutes. EvE.exe Trinity.dll sometimer there is EvE.exe Python25.dll . Hm DidnŠt know what it is. I have tried all. New Drivers ,Old Drivers, Updated Client, Full Trity Client. Slower the Ram Clock. Nothing works. My System: AMD Sempron 64 2800+ 1 Gig DDR 400 ATI HD 2600 Pro Agp Windows XP Professional se New drivers!. Tried old ,tried all. The Problem must be EvE. I have a solution for this problem. It ain't pernament and good, but at least you'll be able to play like 1 hour or so. Managed to notice this luckily. When you have a petition opened in category "Agent missions in progress" in status "in action" you'll be sure that you'll play for longer than 1 hour. Why ? I don't know, but this helps me play.

Edited by: Abbadon on 22/01/2008 20:05:54 Something I noticed yesterday:
I live in 0.0 for 90% of the time an thus I'm in a combat ship while there.
Yesterday I took a trip to empire in a shuttle to do some skill shopping and 78 jumps later not one crash.
In 0.0 I crash on average every 5-7 warps (as I've said before always at station or gate)
Can anyone else hop into a shuttle and zoom around for a while to see if the crash problem disappears. This is not an ideal solution but may point to the root cause.
p.s. within 5 mins of returning to 0.0 and jumping back in combat ship - 2 x blue.dll crashes .

in my case it's rather random. Was in a combat ship yesterday and today, sometimes i didnt even manage to write anything and had this problem. Only been having with _trinity.dll, not ever saw the one with blue or python. Will now test with the shuttle though which one were you in ?

CCP did not find the cause in the logs. It's rational 'cause the problem lies elsewhere. This is an answer that i got :
Quote: //Your sound driver is from 2004..please update it //Additional it seems your swap-file is too small..try to increase it and look if its working better //BH **********
i can't say taht this is a reply taht i was looking forward to get ... don't know about the swap file, will check out what it is and how to enhance it, but questioning sound drivers in my case is irrational. I had trust sound card with latest drivers, took it away. Enabled the built-in sound card in my motherboard and the only good drivers are from 2004. The latest ones just don't work. I can't even launch windows xp cause i get blue screen of death before i even do anything. The problem still was when i disabled the sound card on my motherboard and uninstalled the drivers.

OK, we are looking into this.
One question for you all ... are you submitting the bug reports via the Microsoft error submission system?
I ask because we have actually signed up to this now and have access to it and the extra information that Microsoft can provide looking into the processes.
If you submit a bug report please post it's ID in this thread and we will see that it gets linked to the correct defect. Any log files that you can capture on this would also be most appreciated.
Cheers.

NOT A POSSIBLE FIX: I'm still testing this but have not had a crash in 20-30 jumps (crash would happen every 5-6)
Disable Eve Voice in the Options Screen / Audio tab
(note I was not using Eve Voice in game it was only enabled in settings)
Edit: Seems to lengthen time between crashes but still not fixed .

I have the same problem but i found that setting my cache size to low (i have 2gb memory) and running the client in fullscreen mode possibly fixes this problem (haven't had a crash yet but can't guarantee anything of course). It also happens only when premium graphics are enabled, in classic mode the client is stable as a rock. -----

About that dmp files. You only get them when the client crashes to desktop or the sytem has blue screen of death and freezes. In our case we can't have dmp files, although ... sometimes the problem is with freezing.
I'd like to ask you guys, the ones who get blue error. Are you on vista or xp ? 'Cause i've been having only _trinity.dll ones.

Edited by: Immortal Warrior on 27/01/2008 12:10:47 Same problem. My client crashes after random time, no matter if i fight, travel or just sit in a station. I recieve windows note about exefile.exe and trinity.dll error. Strange is, that after trinity patch i hadnt problems for about two weeks and than crashes appeared...
I use premium graphic, win XP, Athlon 3000+, GeForce7800GT, 2GB ram, Raid 320gb, kis 7.0...
For about 1,5 month I tryed windows reinstalation with all old/new drivers, direct update, client reinstal., change graphic card settings and nothing helps.... In game I can only change skils - sometimes crash is after 0,5-1h but sometimes after 5min.....

Aye .. it means that i was the first one after all to bug report this. I guess that if you're running classic graphic content you get only _trinity.dll errors and blue.dll and more when you're running premium graphic content. Sad, but true. Asked a GM if there is any progress, still haven't received a reply. In the meantime i petitioned my ship loss 'cause of this bug. I suggest that you do the same about your nighthawk.
What's more. I think that we should receive something extra 'cause we're not able to play the game normally for the whole month now ...

Actually after testing a few different settings I can claim with great confidence that running the game in full-screen mode rather than window has fixed this problem for me. Everyone who has these crashes should try that. -----

Ok guys, new info. This issue will be fixed in the nearest patch, yay ! There is not eta on the next patch, not yay ! and it means that we won't be able to play normally for at least a month ... taking into consideration that it started with the new year, for few of us later, it'll be whole 2 months without normal playing eve. IF the patch is deployed in the begining of march ...

Even if they did know, it'd be released in the nearlest patch. It wouldn't have big priority, 'cause we're just a minority and they'd need like 100-200 of this kind of fixes, with the texture problems etc. That's the pesimistic script.

I am also having this problem, any idea when the patch will be out?
This makes 2 machines that Eve will not run stable on. My Laptop and my Desktop. Eve has a problem with my realtek sound card on my motherboard P35C-DSR3.. I get a BSD and a stop 7F... No answer form support on that... I guess it's a sign not to play pass my trial

It was rather a bump - our topic must be always on first page....I hope it helps a little. I have still this problem but tbh last days my Eve client seems to be more stabile - I can play about 1,5h befor crash... I'm not sure if it is accidental or someone from ccp try to help us. Problem is that yesterday first time since XII.2007 I played 3 hours without crash ant than... BSOD !!!

I too have this problem very often with Trinity:
"CCP ExeFile has encountered a problem and needs to close."
The game then crashes.
This ONLY happens when I use the new Trinity graphics. It seems to happen whenever I arrive at, or pan to a graphics intensive scene, such as a stargate (typical) or even a Dominix with its drones out at an asteroid belt.
I have re-installed the game and tried the latest Nvidia 8800 drivers, and even the beta drivers - still have the problem.
I only use windowed mode - have not tried fullscreen yet.

IMO if so few people has this problem /i think about 5 maybe 10%/ there must be some hardweare, softweare or driver which make us vulnerable to this issue... If CCP knows what is it plz tell us - maybe it'll be faster to change sth like mainboard or souncard. I also wonder if this problem is conected with other bugs - i.e. some ppl can play without problems on classic graphic - i can't, and some ppl have also aothers bug like bsod or freeze....

Edited by: DRMALIKIA on 31/01/2008 23:39:34 Edited by: DRMALIKIA on 31/01/2008 23:37:15 So you guys will love this one: Here is my current situation.
I was in the middle of a PVP battle when the dreaded blue.dll crash smitted me down. I took it upon myself to petition the loss in "Reimbursements". I provided the Windows Event Viewer Log that correlated with the game logs with an exact matching time date stamp, showing the blue.dll error occurred right as the game magically closed. The Reimbursement GM I dealt with stated that since they had no proof of the game crashing, I would need to contact technical support, and they would deal with the issue. So I went to the Technical Support Petition and provided them with all the same crap I gave the Reimbursement people. I got the same answer. This GM states I need to go to the Reimbursement Petition and they can help me out. I am like what the F***! Do your departments ever speak to each other? Let's play pass the DRMALIKIA around game until he is good and ****ed off.
What gives? I have proven what happened, provided all this flipping information invested hours of my own personal time trying to fix their Client Game error just to get sent on my way with my tail between my legs? Screw that. So what if we are the minority, we are paying customers and our issues should be addressed as if we were their only customers, period, end of story. If my issue is not important enough to be addressed then I guess my money is not important to you either. But, we are important and we all pay our dues. I don't know how many times I have had the cut and pasted response "I'm sorry about all the troubles and I wish you a speedy recovery. Thank you for your patience." I understand CCP is busy with all of their customers whining about this that or another thing, but to loose something to a legitimate coding problem I have no control over, and then to be told to have a happy day and much joy, hope things work out, blah blah blah. I just find down right insulting and condescending.
I would prefer you (CCP) to own up to the problem, have some balls, and not say sorry for once but do something about the issue immediately. I know CCP can do it, they have done it in the past. I just wish the service was more consistent from all the departments. One week you guys blow my mind away with how much faster you respond to things, the level of customer service you show, then it goes right back to being crap. Welcome to the roller coaster ride that is Customer Service. It's like playing Russian Roulette with a fully loaded revolver. Click bang. Somethings just never change I guess.
Thanks for listening guys, I know you are all suffering as well. My rant is over.

Im not really sure if im having the exact same issue. Im not very savvy with this sorta thing. All i know is that I run a few computers (one for each char) and every single one has had this issue. I normally mine in low sec which requires good reaction times and such but havent been able to since ill quite reliably crash and warp off. even worse is that for some reason I wont warp off until the error message is cleared?! isnt that really strange? So if the client crashes and then locks up my computer iv been having to pull the plug on the whole thing to cut the connection that way and emergency warping hulks to unalligned positions = free pirate lunch)
Like i said im very noob so if this sounds like a different problem that has a resoloution could someone point me in the right direction? Unfortunatly I have been away for a month or so and couldnt pin this down to any particular patch.
Im now tryin to harvest ice in high sec safety. So im taking pretty massive profit losses while im having these issues.

Edited by: Andrue on 02/02/2008 17:01:43 I'm getting crashes occasionally. I think on average I'm only getting it once or twice a month but then I don't usually play for longer than a couple of hours.
My faults: 1.Faulting application exefile.exe, version 4.10.0.44942, faulting module python25.dll, version 2.5.1150.1013, fault address 0x0003aa48.
2.Faulting application exefile.exe, version 4.10.0.44942, faulting module blue.dll, version 4.10.0.44942, fault address 0x00065369.
3.Faulting application exefile.exe, version 4.10.0.44942, faulting module python25.dll, version 2.5.1150.1013, fault address 0x00017556.
AMDx2 64 4000+ NVidia 7900GS 4GB RAM ..latest drivers and patches installed. Using Premium Graphics.
I changed to an 8800GT card this morning so it remains to be seen if that has any affect.
TBH it hasn't bothered me very much but if I can provide information to help those that are getting this more frequently I'm happy to do so.
BTW, folks:You need to provide an error message that includes an address or better yet a debug log. Saying 'the bug that causes Exefile.exe to crash' is useless. Programs crash for a variety of reasons. CCP need at least a module address and a log from their debug utility is the best.
If you want to look for previous errors open your application event log and search for the red 'X' entries. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

I have never Blue screen with Eve, since trinity I get these issues, I am only using the Classic Client.
Now I have had a few problems the last few days as well...
I have had 3 BsoD's but I think it was because I was running two clients at a time, I've since switched to 1 at a time. On premium yesterday, I was scrolling round space and all the space graphics went completely yellow, I minimized client, opened again and it was gone.

EvE.exe - Trinity.dll or Python25.dll crashes are still there. If i play with Classic Client it is a little bit more Time i can play before EvE crashed.Hm What ever it is ,it is not good , it is not a Grafik problem i think because i have an Ati card and some have Nvidia.Pc heat is ok,Ram is ok (i tested it with MemTest36).installed Windows new.Tested all drivers.Nothing work's. Must be something else. CCp please tell us what to do. I think the EvE Users can do much if they know what is the Reason for the Problem i only need something like. It is this or it is that or it is only a Problem of EvE and i can do nothing untill a Patch comes around. I don't want to search for something that i can't change.

I am in a similar situation. Recently, I started getting strange performance errors. Every 6 seconds my screen would lock for 2 seconds and all sound would cut out(including winamp). I was monitoring my cpu usage and it was as follows. For 6 seconds Eve would use 100% of my cpu and then fall to 0% for 2 seconds, and then jump back into 100%. No other process was using my cpu (virus scanned/adware/spybot found nothing). I then started getting crashes associated with _trinity.dll. After a particulary hard crash jumping to a station I can no longer open eve. The trinity screen pops up and eve crashs after trying to load the fullscreen menu(_trinity.dll).
Did anyone else notice cyclical stutters like this and/or is unable to start at all?

It didn't even start after a particular crash for me. I just tried to get on via my desktop which can run the premium graphics package (thought I'd treat myself today). Crashed under the same circumstances: Trinity screen pops up, eve crashes after trying to load log-in screen. _trinity.dll again and again.
I've played EVE since 03', I can't remember EVER complaining about a technical bug before, I just waited patiently for a patch.
However, this case CCP, is ridiculous. It's quite obvious you have a problem, and your content to just sit on your hands, keeping the customers in the dark.
A simple, "We're working on it, we think its an issue with [ ], and we are trying to do up a hot-fix to accommodate those people who's accounts have encountered this issue" would have kept me happy enough for the time being.
It sounds to me like you have more than enough data to troubleshoot this, and I'll be damned if I'm going to be stuck troubleshooting your code.
No matter how much I enjoy your game.
I didn't complain when the per-month went up to 14.95 either. I didn't leave, and I stood by you. I was there through the growing pains, back when I brought harvester drones low, sold high, made my small fortune.
I log into my laptop, 32,107 users online.
Time for growing pains is over, time to grow up is now CCP.

Try this program while you are running EVE, both of these are decent monitoring tools that can assist you. I have noticed that my 680i chipset does that exact same sound crash you are talking about. It is a PCI bus latency issue and won't be fixed by NVidia. But I have found that my chipset works correctly when it is very cool, or at least cooler then it was. If my PC case cover was on, it would lag my PCI bus out every time. Now I just leave the side panel off, no issues.
Process Explorer
Latency Checking Tool
I am glad this issue is so important to CCP that they do not even have time to respond to use on the issue they are working so hard. In fact they are working so hard that all the bugs will be fixed in a reasonable amount of time and all parties will be reimbursed for their troubles.
Ooh wait, that was the ***** talking, CCP would never do something like that. lol blue.dll Error CCP FIX IT ALREADY! |

"OK, we are looking into this."
As for the rest of your 'request' they can't tell you that until they know and have completed the fix.
Quote: It sounds to me like you have more than enough data to troubleshoot this, and I'll be damned if I'm going to be stuck troubleshooting your code. No matter how much I enjoy your game.
No programmer can just magically find and fix a bug like this. The only time they can give you the answer you want is when they have found the problem and developed a fix. It's pretty obvious that you aren't a programmer and you have no idea how much information they have recieved nor how much use it is. Those of us that have only posted the event log have done very little to help. It will allow them to tick-off our bug by comparing addresses when they finally track down a problem but won't directly help them find that problem.
Hopefully those using the log-server will be providing something more concrete but few people seem to be doing that (I didn't, but then I only get one or two crashes a month).
You need to calm down and be patient and try to understand the enormity of the task. There is nothing to be gained by CCP's developers giving you a minute by minute report of what they are doing (in fact it just distracts them and makes it harder). There's certainly nothing to be gained by going off on a rant like a spoilt little brat.
Provide them with more information. Be patient. Be polite. -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

But I will call you a suck-up piece of crap who thinks he's it because he throws out terms like "the log server" or "tick off our bug by comparing addresses".
When did I ask for minute by minute updates? I just want CCP to make me feel like there is SOME progress on the issue, not "we need to run to Microsoft for extra support on this one cuz we have no friggin idea whats going on". Yeah, thats what your golden linked-post breaks down to there fella.

I've been having this problem since the patch in mid November. Still have it. Played for months before that with no problems. Last week I lost over 200 mill in ship and mods because the game froze up for a couple minutes in the middle of a battle. I tried to warp out when my ARMOR was about 20-25%, the game didn't respond. I sat there totally unable to move or fight back while rat pummeled my ship. After a minute or two it finally crashed completely. When I logged back on I was in a pod. CCP's response? Because their precious logs show I lost my ship at 23:08 and logged off normally at 23:48 it occurred during "normal game play". They're logs apparently don't document crashes or when you log on right afterward. I have two accounts and I'm VERY close to closing both.

Have you guys tried running a ram memory tester? The addresses of the errors are located in ram memory slots. It could be a faulty chip or sector that's causing the errors. It seems that ram is getting flaky lately. I had a co-worker that built his new office PC and 2 of the 4 sticks were bad, sent them back and the next 2 were bad as well. It was name brand sticks too, go figure...just something you might try to see if it finds anything.

I am getting the same thing. Never had this problem before until i upgraded my PC.
My old configuration was: AMD FX-55 2GB Corsair RAM Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard BFG 8800 GT OC2 Win XP Sp2
Upgraded to: Core 2 Duo E6850 4GB OCZ RAM Asus P5N32-E SLI plus motherboard BFG 8800 GT OC2 Win XP Sp2
And now i am plagued with this issue. It's definitely not the video card, as it hasn't changed between the configurations.
Also, as someone noted, it tends to happens when you pan the camera
The error message in the event viewer is:
Quote: Faulting application exefile.exe, version 4.10.0.44942, faulting module blue.dll, version 4.10.0.44942, fault address 0x000534a6.
The event viewer also has this straight afterwards:
Quote: The application, D:\_Games\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 02/16/2008 @ 20:27:02.937 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 100534A6 (blue!PyTasklet_Call)

I'm a new player in EVE: Though I'm still on free trial, I'd love to go on with the game and become a real player. But getting the BSOD every 2-3 hours is far from encouraging me. I'm sure it's somehow not good for my computer and I can't decently play a game that keeps making me lose my unsaved datas all the time - plus kicking me out of EvE in the middle of the action. Does anyone know if the situation has evolved recently? I'm using premium pack and have a top configuration, with up-to-date drivers. Haven't been able to screen the blue windows error yet, but I guess it's similar to you guys'. Thanks in advance, An enthousiastic newbie.

I'm new to the game, downloaded it last night, and I must say it is an INCREDIBLE disappointment to play for less than three minutes and have a blue.dll related crash EVERY single time I boot up the program.
I REALLY want to play this game, but I'm unable to do so. Good thing I'm on a trial subscription, I can't imagine paying for something that doesn't work. |

If you have a Geforce 8 series card, turn off anti-aliasing. Make sure it's off in the application override settings, in display settings.
I had the stargate crash bug with the new graphics engine.. turning off anti-aliasing fixed it.
(Yes it sucks not to have it, but it's better to be able to play)

so after they tell us it is our fault, MSs fault, the drivers that haven't changed in a month (so how can be the problem it only happen after CCP pushed a patch) and least we forget it must be our indivual ISP...CCP will fix it. PROMISES MADE > PROMISES KEPT SO SAY WE ALL

Time to start thinking about updating that card buddy, it's not gonna work too much longer w/ Eve w/o crashing non-stop. I can't keep the game running for more than a few seconds to a minute now w/o it powering down the entire system. This was an issue that was fixed in RMR, then with the 2nd patch of Trinity, it's back.
I'm not gonna turn this into another CCP-doesn't-give-a-**** rant. Not worth the effort anymore. Just hang tight and maybe in a few months, a few patches later, it may fix itself accidentally like it has before.
Oh and yeah, I tried turning off my 'sound' lol.

Last time this happened to me, I tracked it down to mouse drivers, I kid you not.
Best thing to do is open the task-manager, arrange on CPU usage and see what zips to the top. The 'stuttering' you're seeing is contention for CPU time from something else on your system.

Edited by: Mortaarn on 28/02/2008 12:21:38 Edited by: Mortaarn on 28/02/2008 12:19:25 Just thought i'd mention that i'm getting "_trinity.dll" and "blue.dll" crashes at stations and gates too. It's only started happening since 1.0.2/1.0.3 for me. Before that i never had a single crash (mind you i've only been playing 1 1/2 months though).
I turned off premium content and now the crashes are gone and i play for hours and hours. Anyone having crashes might want to try turning off premium content until CCP have a fix. It may not look as nice, but at least you can play the game!
I haven't posted a bug report yet, but here's my computer's specifications if they're of any use to track down similarities between crashing systems:
Windows Vista 64-bit Ultimate Athlon 64 X2 6000+ 4GB DDR800 RAM Geforce 8800 GTS 320MB w/ 169.25 WHQL drivers Onboard Realtek ALC888 HD audio w/ v1.87 WHQL drivers nForce 590 motherboard chipset SATA HDD
Did i miss anything?

Disabling 'Premium Graphics Content' from the Display and Graphics tab in options stops me getting 'blue.dll' crashes.

Its all my fault. Every time I take time off work to play Eve CCP have a patch day and subsequently introduce playability issues. I apologise to everyone. I have noticed that i can get nearly 5 minutes of continuous gameplay if i dont touch the keyboard or mouse. Standing on one leg helped also 50% of the time. I will be running tests on holding my breath, crossing fingers, and various lucky charms to see if this helps..........results to follow

To my fellow sufferers: in my case, i noticed the blue.dll crash happening only when 4x AA is turned on (as partially indicated by another poster before me). It works without crashing on other AA settings. 2x AA is what i am running now without any crashes for several days, but the graphics quality still leaves much to be desired. And unfortunately 8x AA is too much for my comp to handle with 2 clients running at the same time.
This is a temp workaround for those with the same issue as me, and i am really hoping that this workaround would not stop CCP from FIXING THE ACTUAL PROBLEM! Please continue to bump this thread until CCP gets their head of out their ... wherever they stuck it. == Above comments are my personal views Oveur >Local shouldn't be a tactical tool, it's for chat

Update: I disabled DEP in Vista, just to see what would happen.
Instead of EVE crashing out with a DEP error, it now does the following:
Screen running EVE will start flickering (like interlaced screen on an old Amiga 500), but game remains totally playable if you can cope with the flickering. When EVE is closed, the screen stays flickering. To me that says it's doing something with the video driver.
Again, 8800GTS running latest drivers on Vista Home Premium x64, running EVE in windowed fullscreen mode (using EVELauncher). Problem persists running fullscreen mode.

Glad to find out I'm not the only one.
Checked my events monitor and figured out my EVE client has crashed 87 times since 06-12-2007. It all started out with client version 4.10.0.44942 and keeps doing it with version 4.10.0.47914. 95% of client crashes are either due to blue.dll or python25.dll... 5% rest being ntdll.dll.
It seems to be more frequent with last client version although I am not 100% affirmative but at least I have really started to notice and turn mad about it in the last 8 days (client crashes just as your gang is about to engage a bunch of hostiles anyone ? welp) I also happen to get an error message 2 times out of 3 upon closing the client. What's really annoying is that I can't really reproduce it at will, it just seems to be random, game's gonna run fine for 2 or 3 hours and all of a sudden CTD... 1 time, 2 times, 3 times within 10 minutes. Selecting an object in space could be the trigger I'll have to try and see... sure thing is I never ever crash while docked in station, only while ship is in space.
I am running XP32 PRO and have a 8800GT which I bought the day before Trinity deployment. All drivers are up to date. I have tried a fair amount of various troublseshoots allready, including but not limited to, disable any overcloaking and put all values to default, checking temperature of my various computer components in case one would be overheating, tweaked and played with various EVE display settings, etc..etc...
Since I've had frequent client crashes with other games like Crysis or more recently SoaSE which seem to be related to graphic engine too I am starting to wonder if it's not something to do with the current Nvidia drivers not functionning properly as documented by Nvidia rather than game programmers, and in the present case, CCP's programmers fault. I have seen it happen in the past with other games and would not be surprised if it was the case here.
/me goes and look around for new/beta drivers.

Edited by: Tajen Kata on 20/03/2008 01:11:06 Crysis 1.1 single player on 8800 GT should have next to no crashes on 169.25 final driver. Atleast I managed to play it through without a crash, temps were at around 80-90.
Above poster says he has frequent crashes on that game so there's possibility of hw issue.

Holy Shiiiit! i thought it was just me!!! Holy Crap i was going to buy a new computer because of all this. i was thinking "my 2004 computer just ain't able to run these new games today' even though that may be true anyways, my crashes happened to start after the new patch. barely gets me in game when zap, crash to desktop. i reinstalled my entire OS to fix this, which led to a buncha new problems now and it didn't work. the GM's were "did you update to the latest drivers? and check your BIOS," ect. Give me a break, my drivers were the same ones i used a month ago before this patch when NOTHING went wrong. I bought a new graphics card geforce 6200 (yeah i know, but it supported shaders) and thought THAT might do the trick. nope. reinstalled sound card drivers. nope. disabled sound in the game. nope. went to driver manager and disabled audio codecs and anything else that gave me a dirty look. nope. downloaded and installed upgrade to EVE Premium Graphics. Nope. Now the reason i thought it was only me is that the guys in my corp are reporting no ill problems, but there are only twenty of them and thats not indicative of whats happening to a larger part of us. i am now downloading a beta of XP service Pack 3 to see if that helps anything. a new patch Tuesday? Originally by: Dirty Minx Its all my fault.

After reading over this thread and looking into some of your bug reports it looks like there are two different issues being mentioned here:
1. the issue the OP posted about relating to 5000 series GeForce cards causing BSoD or other crashes
2. Folks with 8000 series GeForce cards are experiencing issues when AA is enabled.
I'd like to point out the following to clarify any misunderstandings:
EVE Premium does NOT support AA (Anti-Aliasing), there is no option to enable it in the premium client and enabling it on the card (driver) is known to cause issues.
AA support is planned for the future, but no specific details or dates are available about that yet. ____________________________ I break things.

Exception in Blue.dll again, 8800GT user, Only with enhanced trinity graphics enabled.
Bug report is 55403 and contains the dxdiag file and the .dmp file (stack trace, et all).
I can re-create it at will,
Approach or leave a stargate Repeatedly spam the left and right mouse buttons whilst moving the mouse around
Obviously not what I was doing when it happened but it does recreate the problem and the stack callback looks the same (though without the code, it doesn't tell me a lot of course).

Mu graph card is GeForce 7600. After triniity i have random crashes with blue.dll triinity.dll d3dx9.dll errors. I have also BSODS with nv4_disp.dll error. No other game causes problems - just EVE. I didn't have ANY problems till trinity. I turned off anty aliasing and I tryed 1.000.000 things to repair this issue from my side. I tryed drivers beta ver. andf full divers set fom XI. 2007 - still the same. From my point of view this problem was created becouse of some Trinity and graphic card drivers incompatibility.
I send lots of logs and dmp files with my petition but ideas like windows instalation error, drivers update, drivers older version ect. didnt't work. Funny that i could played crisis without any problems - i just read about some game crashes due to nvidia drivers incompatibility.
Sadly I think that only possible solution is waiting till next next EVE patch or next next next graph drivers update.

Edited by: Galician on 27/03/2008 00:50:06 Getting similar experience here.
System: Core2duo 6600 Nvidia 8600gtoc
Crashes with usually a blue.dll error, sometimes other random ones.
Generally my game crashes at warp gates, or when the game renders a station upon warping in etc.. sometimes it crashes when I dock and the game builds the interior graphics of the station.
I am going to try letting the application control the AA settings like suggested, right now in the nvidia drivers config it was trying to apply 8x AA to the game. I would assume on everyone elses driver settings it would be doing the same. Will report back with results.

This pretty much fixed my crashing issues I think. Played for about one solid night and didnt get the crash.
nvidia control panel > find where you can specify which programs use AA, find eve and tell it to let the game decide which AA settings to use.

yep same here!! Funny before trinity My computer could run 5 accounts if i wanted too but i only have. Since Trinity I could only run on classic clinet! I stoped playing eve for 5 months because it was unplayable as i can only use 1 account.
Then i come back and I still have that problem that my computer reboots. All driver upto date and setting on lowest! Tho when helped was the Tuneup memory thingy! I have 3 accounts running and see my memory getting very low and its a 2gb. SO I run it and all fine ! but every since the update I am back to the start again. A game i cant play :/
I am disappointed really that 5 months later the software unreliable!. I guess i sign opff again and come back in 5 months again?

Keep having these problems since the latest patch (nvidia 8800 GTS here). Tried reinstalling EVE, reinstalled drivers, the ntried the new beta drivers, but no success.
I've just tried to force everything so it's application ocntrolled (so disabling all AA and stuff) waiting to see results).
Not gonna buy a new cpu fan just for EVE, there are plenty other mmos lying around, but thanks for intel.

it is a true pia trying to haul anything and getting the MS crash window every so few minutes.

Best fix i know of till now is to run in Windows-mode and put the Interval on "Interval One".
I've run Premium and classic (fully re-installed), still have the crashes about _trinity.dll As far as i can tell, sound on or off doesnt make any difference. Ok, found the turn-on button for this Microsoft report stuff (ofc. EVE didnt crash since i last posted here, so i couldnt test this yet, lol). See here: How To Configure and Use Error Reporting in Windows XP
Anyway, 1 more thing i turn off also in EVE (true-classic atm, which runs much better), is to turn off the cache. It runs stable when its off , and works even better when you turn it off if you run 2 clients from the same location.

Your report ID is 56498 I had no help from CCP steel cant play EVE CTDing all the time from _Trinity.dll d3d9.dll d3dx9_35.dll and YES i have reinstall directx 9.c this is all CCP will tell me Hello, According to the data files you have provided the dump files show that it is being caused from a DirectX communication malfunction between your graphics drivers, DirectX and EvE. Installing the Omegadrivers might very well solve this problem as it would eliminate one 2 of the 3 pathways that are causing the issue. Regards, GM ********* EvE Customer support

Hey there, I'm having this same problem. I tried switching back to classic graphics, completely reinstalling the game, and it still doesn't work. I don't error out during any specific event that I can tell. I error out when i try to log in, when i'm going through gates, when i'm just sitting there...just randomly. There's no apparent cause for the crash, but it is always the exefile.exe, _trinity.dll and the other applications that others have mentioned. If someone can tell me how to fix this I will love them forever.

Thats the message I get when Eve.exe crashes. Athlon ~2,4 GHz, 1 Gig Ram, Win XP and a GF6600 (premium content without AA) are my system specs. Can't really see a pattern in the crashes. Yesterday we set up a POS and I would just crash every 10 seconds when the forcefield was finally live. While running missions today I had major problems with IO so I though it might be related to large objects in space but the crashes occur when I'm watching the market, typing in chat - I even had crashes while shutting down eve. No fun really ATM. Turning of sound, voice or other graphical setting won't do anything.

I have a 8 series vid card too. Here's what I did:
1. Start the Nvidia Control Panel. 2. Go to "Adjust Image Settings with Preview". 3. Select "Let the 3D Application Decide".
Reboot computer (just incase), restart Eve.
I haven't had a problem since I did this since the GM's said that it was AA related. |

None of the suggested fixes have had any effect on this problem. I have 3 souncards onboard, PCI and a firewire device. I have tested all three cards in disabled/active modes disabled Hardware acceleration both on the cards themselves and through the dxdiag control panel. I have tested with no sound devices installed also and still the same crash. It does not appear to be soundcard/driver related. This crash only occurs when I run an instance of the EVE client both in full screen and in windowed mode. All temperatures monitored during crash scenario reported no spikes. I've also tested memory sticks 1 cycle with memtest all good.
All drivers are current and up to date.

I've looked all over this forum for an answer to this problem. A lot of people are dealing with this issue. It's a random crash mostly happening in stations and in deadspace. There have been times when i cant even right click in space before the client crashes. On the other hand there are times when it does'nt crash for hours. I've submited at least 100 error reports to microsoft. I honestly do not know how to get the report ID. It's a trinity.dll error. I've tried every suggestion on this site from reinstalling both clients, to the AA "fix" the "EAX fix", nHancer, sound acceleration in DX9 optoins and in game. Turning off station effects and shadows to turning sound off. I've even formated and started from scratch! It still crashes at random times with the same error. I play a lot of games on this pc .. it's not a new pc either.. it's fairly old by industry standards. I have not had this problem with any other game i have ever played on this machine.

bumps for this.
for me, this is a fairly recent issue, but i'm getting the same blue.dll type errors in the event log and have roughly 30 or so from the last several weeks alone.
can't remember what event might have initiated this, but needless to say i have no other connectivity or stability problems that would explain it. running an 8800gts 640 in vista 84 on an intel quad core chip, in case it matters.
have just allocated AA control to eve in the Nvidia control panel. we'll see if that has any effect.
Once again, can we get a little acknowledgment here?

Edited by: Woz Dando on 15/06/2008 20:56:05 I'm having this problem with an ATI Radeon X1650 Pro, AMD Athlon 3200+, 2Gb DDR on board nvidia sound on an ABIT mobo.
CCP EXEFile crash is the cited cause. Have been posting my Microsoft reports but will start logging the numbers hereing if it helps. As a returning player who never gave Eve the attention it deserved I had made my mind up to give it a good go this time round only to find it crashes regularly and with no apparent cause in game. It crashes in the station, while warping, while idle in space, while mining, while transferring items in a station. No clear repeatable action seems to trigger it.
I'm hoping this will clear soon so I can get on with enjoying the game beyond regularly logging in :)

I have the same problem since patch from 02.07.08. Here is the info I received from Support, maybe it will helps others:
2008.07.06 23:22:00 GM ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hi,
See if clearing your cache and settings folders helps, corrupt cache and settings files can cause ingame items and information being shown incorrectly or not at all. It can also cause players, ships and items to function improperly.
For this, you need to locate the following folder, assuming that you have installed EVE in the default location C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE : ( is C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE on 64bit versions of Windows )
Press Windows Key + R and paste the following line into the Run window.
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility if you use Windows XP %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility if you use Windows Vista.
There you will find the cache and settings folders, rename/move both of them, in order to save them. Then relog and try again.
Do note that copying the settings folder or any of it's files back may cause your problems to resurface, this includes the prefs.ini file.
If this does nto help please run the game with logserv running and reproduce the problem and send us the logserver file and the crash dump file ( in cases of the client crashing ). Reproduction step are very important part of the report. Write exactly what you did to make the problem happen. This will help the programmers see where the problem is, and hopefully make it happen on their own computers. Reproduction steps are required for your report to be useful, even if you have attached logs to your report.
Using the logserver (to minimize problems with this, its recommended that you either restart your computer or check Task managers process list for unresponsive instances of Eve.exe)
1. Find your Eve folder in Windows Explorer 2. When you have the Eve folder open, find "logserver.exe" and launch it (Do NOT have EVE running) 3. Select "File" -> "New Workspace" 4. Start Eve like you would normally do 5. When you have reproduced the bug, Eve crashes or when you kill the process if it hangs, select "File" -> "Save workspace as..." and save the workspace in a place you'll find it again.
Finding the crashdump
1. Locate a subfolder of you Eve folder called "Logs" (f.ex "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" if you are on Windows 2000/XP and "C:\Users\%usernames%\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE" on Windows Vista." ) 2. Find the .dmp file with the most recent time stamp. Files called #error*.txt are useless.
1. Also run the DirectX diagnostics tool: Press 'Start' and select 'run'. Type dxdiag and hit enter. When you do this, a window will pop up. 2. Click the "Save All Information" button that's located in its lower right corner. 3. In order to thoroughly test your connection to the EVE server then I recommend that you download a program called pingplotter which is available here http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_2.exe If you are running a hardware firewall (SPI Firewall) on your router you will need to disable it, as otherwise this program won't work. After starting up pingplotter do the following in the program:
1) Under "Adress to trace" put the following value in the box: 87.237.38.200 2) In the bottom left corner in the box "# of times to trace" put the value 1500 3) In the bottom left corner in the box "Trace Intervals" change it to 2.5 seconds 4) In the bottom left corner in the box "Samples to include" change it to 1500. 5) Click on "Trace" button in the bottom left corner.
When it's completed save it as the sample set ( pp2 )
4. Then compress all files and attach the compressed file to the e-mail and send us.
Best regards, Senior GM EVE Online Customer Support ----------------------------

I just finished building my new PC yesterday got all the drivers updated and installed. But I can not get eve to run. I open the game. I log into my account and when I go to log into my char it gets about 3/4 then crashs. I know my stuff works because I've got CoD4 running at max settings and it rocks.. now if I can get EVE working I will be great. Oh yeah and I didnt change any settings when I loaded EVE. I just wanted to log into my char to change a skill....

One of my Alliance members was able to fix the problem I was having. Here is the solution incase anyone else has the same problem
So letŠs assume that this is the problem.
(if below doesnŠt work, use the drivers not from the mobo cd but from the manufactuer website if you havenŠt done that already like realtek, asus, etc)
1 - Turn off voice on eve settings.
2 - If that doesnŠt solve, add voiceenabled=0 to prefs.ini to make sure.
3 - Lower down sound aceleration by steps until zero (control panel settings)

Fellow Gamers, I have read the forums for days now and i couldn't come up with a solution, until now (or have yet to have a problem) with EVE premium. It used to crashed every time 1 sec to 1 min after load screen. There was a Poster who replied that "Eve doesn't support AA" or something like that. I have a Sony VAIO that's 1.83ghz, with 2GB of RAM, along with a GeForce Go 7400. What i did to solve the problem? 1)I went into my Nvidia Control Panel. 2)Went into "3D Settings". 3)Clicked on "Adjust Image Setings with Preview". 4)Selected the "Use the Advanced 3D Image Settings" Bubble. Then right of that selection is a link "Take me there", click it. 5) then I unchecked the "Use the 3D application setting" box for Antialiasing. I also unchecked the "Use the 3D application setting" box as well for Anisotropic filtering. I hope for some Nvidia can use this to fix there problem. As for other cards try to disable "Let the program decide" and disable the Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering. Good Luck!

Cheers.

I have this exact problem as well, Abbadon. I've discovered that running full screen works, while staying windowed causes the problem. Perhaps we can correlate data and look for commonalities? That may help them fix it. Try running full screen and see if that works as a work-around (it does for me).

Yea im having same problem aswell, a use to get these errors C:\DOCUME~1\BRANDO~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERfda8.dir00\Mini090208-02.dmp C:\DOCUME~1\BRANDO~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERfda8.dir00\sysdata.xml\ so i figured it was a mem dump file, bit i deleted the files and did all the updates for drivers and such, even updated my windows, my computer still tends to be faulty after 10 days of researching and tinkering. It only happens with EVE, i can still play all my other games, and i know it isnt my Ram or overheating. Its something to do with Eve codeing and such, and my computer.

I gave you a screenshot of Windows XP and a screenshot of Windows Vista issent it logical i had to reinstal everyting to be able to give you those screenshots ?

those bugs sound familiar, my gf bought 2 new pc with msi motherboard, her first pc is now already 2 weeks away it has 8600gts card blue screen all the time also before the patch and an on board soundsystem. The second pc now after a halfyear starts having same problems also has an msi motherboard but an other graphic card namely 8600gt before patch she could run 4 accounts now hardly 2 and with much lag the system crashes totaly. Which haveppens now already 5 times with a blue screen. and windows says it has a problem and restarts the pc on itself again.
And the only game which gives crashes is eve. It cost me already Ç 80,00. And i expect that will cost me more. What is game worth if al safety's fail. Windows 2 time new on it does not help, the game set on it new does not help. caches making empty does not help. What does help. Maybe a new pc with not nvdia graphic card and not an msi mainboard!!!!!!!!!!!

Edited by: Eltopo on 11/09/2008 17:23:54 Edited by: Eltopo on 11/09/2008 17:09:21 Installed eve on my new computer, it now crashes within 2 sec and 3 min(total system crash, have to reboot and everything). I even crash at the login screen, I once managed to stay ingame for a grand total of 3 min.
Visual details of the crash: mouse pointer disappears, screen freezes. Can`t get back to windows(vista), and have to reboot manually.
I tried pretty much all the solutions proposed on forums starting from reinstalling, to trying classical and premium version, to updating all drivers, to disabling sound,...
I think i tried pretty much everything and am getting quite desperate, I need my fix damnit lol!
The log do not show anything. I suppose it does not have the time to save data since I get a total system crash. and the dump files show nothing either. I also get the exact same crash with both clients.
Here is my config:
Medion MS-7327 OS: Vista Home premium 6.0 Processor: AMD Phenom 9500 quad-core 3326mb ram dx10 nvdia Geforce 8400 GS approx mem 1523 mb
all drivers are up to date.
I would really appreciate any help i can get, I am out of ideas to fix this crash and wanna play badly!
Tx in advance
Update: I just noticed the client would run fine as long as I DID NOT move the mouse. As soon as I start moving the mouse around a bit, at the login screen or in the game, the game freezes and crashes.I am using a tablet(bamboo fun), but the same problem keeps occuring after I uninstalled it

Hey all
Sounds like im not the only one in this boat, however im not sure if my problem is the same as you guys.
My problem is that when im playing eve in window mode and im usually just mining when ever one of those messages comes up in the black box (eg cargo full, roid popped, docking, etc) it freezes and brings up an error screen with the send bug report option.
I havent got a bug report saved but when it happens next ill save one and post it here.
Just wanna know is this is the same problem or something different.
BTW im running Geforce 8800GT

I have this problem as well. CCP Eve.exe blue.dll error. The only solution for me at this time is to disable Premium Graphics. I had this problem once before with Trinity. The solution back then was to empty the cache folder. That doesn't work now. Maybe the devs should look at the blue.dll file within the Eve folder to see if there is a coding error. Just a thought.

random freezing of the premium grafic QR ...477 client (and Trinity before) after 2-20 minutes since 4 days before QR-upgrade, even when not logged in and in gameplay, without any screens or disfunctions before, needs cold-restart of the system, single account.

Not reproductable (no matter what i am doing, even doing nothing).
Log-Server sves no result; DxDiagnostic (all tests): ok.
Several reinstallations after complete removal of eve and grafic and sound drivers did not help.
My bug-report was filtered out, mailing that it is unclear, because missing the log-server-report and *.dmp, which i am not able to create, reprocessing the steps mentionend in bug-report-help-site. No hint of how to get tat Logserver run and save correctly, but installin drivers new, check memory, etc ... which i did before, and am doing again ... no positive result.
Petitions advises me to clear caches or to reinstall, not getting that i have done this several times before.
Did anyone of you get any useful answer for this to solve from petitions or bug-reporting ? |

3 accounts, 4 computers, 3 laptops (all modern) and a Desktop, and this game will not run on any of them. Python.DLL is the offender on at least one machine.
Faulting application ExeFile.exe, version 5.20.1.1472, time stamp 0x4906f869, faulting module python25.dll, version 2.5.3100.1013, time stamp 0x49105507, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0006ebf6, process id 0x115c, application start time 0x01c94ba5e8801419.
Fresh install. Vista 32-bit (fresh install) All patches updated. CA Security Suite (also tried disabled)
Sadly, after 5+ years of playing this game, I think my patience is at an end. Can't login, can't play, and either CCP has no answer or they don't care - pick one.
Not impressed guys. Canceling my subs - I'll blow my $50 a month on something that works and is supported.

In the hope that CCP notices that the number of people having this problem increases, I have also joined the club of trinity.dll/blue.dll crashes.
It started since the quantum rise patch. Drivers are as up to date as they can be.
Luckily I have become very skilled at logging in quickly, so I managed to save my ship everytime up now. Crashes seem to happen mostly when I drop out of warp near a station/stargate or in missions while turning my view or new enemies spawn.

Add me to this list. It only started happening after the QR 1.01 patch.
Blue.dll is the culprit, and I am crashing all over and nothing is triggering it. You can be jumping, docking, sitting still in space for 5 minutes cloaked and it just crashes. |

Same thing on my system too. Seems to be random, can't pinpoint exactly what triggers it. Only started happening after the QR 1.01 patch. Uninstalled Eve and reinstalled from the 1.xGB full install file. It crashed again within 10 minutes.

I think ive had this same issue ever since the premium upgrade. I run 2 accounts on 1 pc (dual screen) so naturally i have them both windowed. Worked out that it only randomly occurred when i clicked on objects in space in order to use the context menus. (this was after trying dropping premium and adjusting settings etc) Once I realized this i made sure all my iterations were via the overview display, and while not eliminating the crashes completely it has reduced them significantly. (Occasionally a Client will crash if im not careful where the mouse pointer is on screen and an object falls under it)
When i get home from work ill try to figure out where vista hides crash loggs and see if the same dll's are at fault.

Edited by: Molly Mayhem on 01/12/2008 03:02:57 My crashes are strongly tied to running 2 copies of the client. It doesn't matter if they're premium or classic (I have both installed) - both versions crash often if I run 2.
Running a premium client crashes with some regularity, especially if I'm changing session, warping, switching ships, etc. Basically anything to do with moving me to a new location or ship.
The basic client seems to work OK, as long as I don't run two of them, but it's ugly as sin compared to the premium client :(
I run faux-fullscreen (windowed resized by evemon) so I can alt-tab to my browser. Vista x64 4870x2, most recent drivers SB X-Fi
All my drivers are up to date, I've purged cache, etc. My machine is totally stable for everything else except EVE.

Well I hate to say it but the game is totally stable in fullscreen mode, and utterly butt**** unstable in windowed mode. I can literally crash the client on login if I run two copies windowed, yet I can play for hours if I run two copies in fullscreen.
It's a PITA to alt-tab between clients & my web browser, but it works.

I have 2 accounts and have been playing for about 5 months without a problem using the premium client. As of 11-29-08 I have had non stop crashes as described in these posts. I thought it might have been my computer, which it excedes minimum requirments easily, so on 12-1-08 I reformatted my comp and completely re-installed everything. Everything is up to date. The game continued to crash two more times and then I was able to play without a problem for about 2 hours.
Has CCP aknowledged this issue? Sorry, I did not check through 9 pages to see if they have. If not I do not see a reason to continue paying for a game that I can not play.

finaly ive found people with same problems, i thought i was going mad my problems are after the new expation, 2x cliants, 1 pc, 2x screens had not had a problem with this game in near 2 years till now allways random, mostly when runing both cliants, but can happen with only one running both on clasic, and have reinstaled xp as well as new vid card, new ram, etc, can not falt my pc in any way other than eve
if i stay idle more than 5 mins, i cant see my ship warp, but everyone elce in system sees me get there, so i dont even crash or, i jump gate, wait for overview to load up etc, nothing, only drop down menu and can warp to bm, but cant see anything change on screen, can even wait long enough, and dock at a staion, just cant see it only after loging off and on again can i see where ive ended up
other times warp to gate or belt, and nothing there, no corpys ships, or veld rocks, or rats un dock from staion can be bad to, black screen, and stays black, but i do un dock all right, on relog, can be 20-30k from staion

Still crashing. This time I was cloaked at a station, watching WTs and trying to get intel. i crashed, and they saw me warp off. So yah intel went well.
The last crash I was cloaked at a staion, i saw a WT warp off to a gate, i went to follow him, and CRASH! I logged back in and the client had me warping to the gate i previoulsy wanted ot warp to.....i get to the gate(with WT's on it) and CRASH!
Conclusion? WT's know what I fly now. My alliance corpmates think I fail more than what I really do. And I'm not into playing on any of my THREE accounts. Hmmm... too bad ghost training got the boot!
PLEASE CCP If you love me or the money from my three accounts for the past 2-3yrs....

This same issue started happening to me two days ago. When launching the client I would see the red Quantum Rise splash screen, but at the transition to the login screen the client would crash and I'd get the Windows error message. A review of my application event log would show that the error was with the _trinity.dll file. At the time that this problem cropped up I haven't done anything recently on my computer that would make my system unstable. The game was running fine for two weeks until my trial period ended. Perhaps there's correlation there, I don't know.
To work around this I've uninstalled the premium client and installed the basic Eve client. I'm able to log in and play the game now, but am really disappointed that I'm graphically downgraded from what I was able to play without a hitch.

I had this same issue twice now. For me, there is a conflict with the eve QR client in combo with 8.11 or 8.12 ATI drivers having AA on. After messing around I have discovered 2 cures that have worked for me: Either, one, disable the ATI CCC from using AA by setting it to "use application settings" or two, going back to 8.10 ATI CCC, where I could continue to use AA on.

Edited by: Ramanic on 12/12/2008 17:18:22 I'm having the same issue with frequent crashes. It appears to be a memory leak as many others have mentioned. I'm running Vista 32 on a Quad core with 4 Gb. Each time I undock from a station or jump I can see the memory use by ExeFile.exe increase by anywhere from 2 to 10 Mb until I get a complete crash. So long as I sit in one place and do nothing I can run for quite a while but that kind of takes most of the fun out of the game :). I see numerous logs posted here from the error reporting in Windows so won't bother posting more identical logs unless CCP comes on and says they need more.
Running one client I can sometimes stay in long enough to finish a mission (I've been taking 3s instead of 4s to limit the risk). I normally run two clients and between the two they eat my RAM until one or both clients crash.
Ahh, just to edit, I'm running: Premium client Tried with Sound off and on Tried in Windowed and Full Screen mode (run full screen normally)
Looking forward to a fix, thanks,
Rama

However, ever since Windows Update restarted my computer this morning, I haven't been able to load up premium without it crashing and getting an exefile runtime error on start. I've tried a fresh reinstall and restarted my computer and still haven't been able to get it going.
I'm going to try a System Restore to see if that fixes anything. I'll post back with the results.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in this or another thread, but people suffering from a CTD on client start with premium graphics can boot into safe mode (which uses classic graphics). You can do this with /safemode on your EVE shortcut, or right click the EVE icon in your Vista games explorer and select the safe mode option.

Having this problem as well. Have the premium client and cannot get the client to start. Everything was working fine until this morning when I tired to run EVE and it would crash before fully starting. Hope CCP comes up with a solution soon...

What happened:
Let the client restart itself when downtime came into effect, then closed it. Today, when I started EVE, I repeatedly and consistently got this CTD error:
Faulting application exefile.exe, version 5.20.1.5197, faulting module _trinity.dll, version 5.20.1.6047, fault address 0x00021e06.
How I fixed it:
Followed my hunch and removed the EVE settings folder. In a minute or two, I isolated the problem to pc.dat, without which EVE started up fine. It worked with all other settings files fine, so I didn't lose anything. Obviously these issues have a myriad of causes, but in some cases the problem lies with one settings file or another. Maybe this has already been talked about, but I am too lazy to read ten pages. Hopefully this helps someone.

Thanks for your efforts Shotgun. Unfortunately this had no effect for me. I went as far as removing the whole CCP directory from my application data folder. When I launched the client it would still crash. Bummer, I was really looking forward to a fix. I hope this does work for others though.

Hmm I know my sec status looks bad, but I can assure you...

My client allso reaches around 1.5gb and crashes thereafter. I've only used one client when i first had this problem, so imo. it's unlikely that using two clients is the cause of this. Allthough i cannot rule out the posibility that previously using two clients have created some crossproblems. However the problem started right after the second QR patch for me.
As i pvp alot, i have to every odd chance check taskmanager to keep an eye out on the ram-use before i pitch myself in another fleet-battle.

Just to add to this:
My page file will go to about 2.3-2.6 gigs before it finally crashes and throws the eve.exe/ trinity.dll error.
After reading this thread a few days ago and found CCP now watches the Microsoft error reporting, I finally started to report the error through there.
So far the only times I have crashed is warping to a stargate, or docking in a station. It usually takes about 3-4 hours for the page file to hit over 2 gigs.
I have turned AA off completely, and yet still receive this error consistantly.

Well what sort of crash is it? Are you able to reach the login screen or does it crash immediately at startup?

I have the same problem.
EVE randomly crashes with one or two premium clients running. Sound is off, brackets off, effects off. Sometimes I had the feeling that with Optimum Driver settings (ATI control panel) the error shows up earlier, so I continued playing with "balanced" performance settings. But even then in a PvP ops of about 5h it crashes 7 times.
Hardware: Athlon 64, 4000+, 2 GB DRAM OS: XP SP3, DX 9.0c latest Graphics: ATI X1950, latest drivers 8-12_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_72271.exe 8-11_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_70226.exe
In XP's event log I find 2 (!) types of application errors:
a) module blue.dll error (13x) Fehlgeschlagene Anwendung exefile.exe, Version 5.20.1.5197, fehlgeschlagenes Modul blue.dll, Version 5.20.1.6637, Fehleradresse 0x00064686.
b) module python25.dll error (only 2 times) Fehlgeschlagene Anwendung ExeFile.exe, Version 5.20.1.5197, fehlgeschlagenes Modul python25.dll, Version 2.5.3100.1013, Fehleradresse 0x0002bf87.
Am using EVE premium client in windows mode.
a few days ago when onlining POSes I could trigger the bug by clicking onto a specific structure in space. Whenever I clicked on this one it crashed. Clicking the other ones was not critical. It was a medium artillery. I had the feeling that it happened especially when I used optimum settings (from the ATI driver CCC). Balanced settings seemded more stable.
At the end it happens also in warp without clicking anything ;-)
Hope this gets attention and gets fixed.
Funny that this is not yet recorded on the "last issues" page ...
Cheers

AppName: exefile.exe ModVer: 5.20.1.6637 AppVer: 5.20.1.5197 Offset: 00064688 ModName: blue.dll
Intel Q6600 Asus P5K premium ATI 4850 2gig Corsair RAM
All error reports submitted to Microsoft.
If this post seems to lack detail, it's because I've just spent 1/2 an hour typing a more detailed report, only for it to get lost in the ether of this website when i pressed the "post reply" button. In that time I could have been playing the game...until it crashed, of course.

Hmmmmmmmm. I've just been thru the rigmarole of submitting a bug report. I described the problem the best I could, and attached a coupla logfiles of crashes, along with my dxdiag. Guess what? i was told the bug was unreproducable, so could i please give more detailed reproduction steps.........and i was referred to this very thread for a possible solution this is in addition to some BS ive been told before, namely that the client doesnt officially support AA so that could be the problem. what kind of game costs 15euros a month and forces u to play without AA in 2009 for chrissakes? and, if my only other solution is to use the classic graphics package, whats the point in spending an hour downloading the premium content in the first place? especially since i know for a fact that it was the last patch that has caused the ctd problem.....before that everything, including AA and HDR, worked fine and ran stable. not impressed

Eve seems to be crashing alot since i built my new Vista PC. Mainly happens when i'm engaged in PVP or feel some sort of lag. I can easily sit for hours afk and it wont crash. But as soon as i'm doing something like PVP it just crashes. Recently my Archon was outside a station and i was fighting some peeps. It crashed three times in the space of 2-3 minutes....
I've already lost one of my internet spaceships to this error just aswell it was a ceptor.
I dual account with this in windowed. Both the accounts will never drop together. It is ALWAYS one, the other is fine and i can carry on playing.
It's really ****ing me off and it looks like i'm not the only one.... What is CCP doing about this?

Change the following value to 'Balanced' with these instructions:

Edited by: Ajax Smith on 03/01/2009 11:56:34 As suggested above I decided to give the classic client a go. The result? Not one single crash in the last few days of solid play. This suggests to me that the blue.dll crashes I was getting constantly - and the one _trinity.dll crash I had - are somehow directly linked to the premium client. Using the classic package is not a solution, but at least it is playable (with full AA forced) and stable, for me anyway. At least it's a means of being able to play until CCP get round to fixing whatever the problem may be. Time to update the bug report I guess
EDIT: another thought. Someone else in this thread has already suggested spamming bug reports until we get a proper fix, which isn't a bad idea. Also, if prompted to send an error report to MS after a crash, do it. I've read somewhere (maybe in this thread...?) that CCP have access to these reports, so anything we can do to get it fixed is probably a good idea. Stating the obvious, I know

I've been forced to use the classic client since the patch that added the align feature. Ever since then, when running premium client(s) I get video card failures within a matter of minutes.
That's not the point though, since I'm still getting these evefile.exe crashes very frequently, and I only use classic client.
Most common crash is when hopping into a ship from a ship maintenance array. That has about a 50% chance of working/crashing. Other than that it seems completely random. I wonder how long CCP is going to let this buggy piece of turd they called an expansion fester with these ridiculous bugs. The game is hardly playable, particularly when you're doing things as a fleet and have people dropping every couple minutes.

Same problem, when Im warping in to a gate or station I get a black screen and vista tells me that the program has caused an error. Im running an ATI radeon 4870 x2 with 4 gigs or 1333 Mhz ram and a quad duo extreme. Its not my system hardware but I think there is a conflict with vista 64. One thing I tried was to allow eve on the DHP filter, didnt help though.

Nope no luck, Disabled catalyst AI, still crashes just as I warp in and tells me that CCP exefile has been forced to close. Did you change the performance settings in the ATI control center. I have them all the way up, I just disabled all of the auto settings including the AI.

Nope no good, I turned off AA, Adaptive AA, Catalyst AI, and set all other setting to let the program decide. Still crashes randomly and gives me the CCP exefile has stopped working and has been forced to close message. Any other ideas? |

Edited by: Zeko Rena on 12/01/2009 10:21:50 Ive also had this issue for a long time, i knew i shouldent have taken the free upgrade to the ATI HD4850 when i bought my pc, id rather a 15% slower video card that didnt make eve chrash :(
I keep checking and hoping for 8.13 drivers that might fix it from ATI, but at the end of the day im not sure where the issue lies, the card or EVE Client. --------------------------

im also having a CTD associated with blue.dll. EVE is unplayable, the game crashes every 5 minutes or so. I haven't really played in 2 months and I come back to this issue. No details of my system have crashed, just the version number for eve. Don't think I will resub if this isn't fixed soon, I don't have much left to try on my end. |

I have recently started to experience this problem too, I have no clue as to when or why this started to happen, but i am reasonably sure that it was no patching going on at the time it started. It is blue.dll that seems to be the problem, and it only causes a crash when undocked. In station everything works fine...
But I have also found that if I start EVE in safe-mode, there is no problem anymore. I have not tested this over more than around 1 hour though, but since I allways crash in seconds or minutes after undocking with the regular .exe file, I am quite sure it works fine with safe-mode.

Ok i'm really at my wits end now, been trying to get AA + HDR working over the past 2 days using both the obvoius nvidia control panel aswell as nhancer, neither works for me but thats a point in its own. The real problem started earlier today when i tried using Oblivion compability rather than the generic 00000045 AA + HDR or the 0xf0000045 as antialiasing compability in nhancer, it didnt work so i go "damn pos" and close my client and reset everything, however after that exercise eve wont start at all. All i get when trying to run the regular .exe is the _trinity.dll crash, i've tried almost everything i can think of to remedy this(reinstalling eve twice, clearing cache folders, uninstalling nhancer and making sure all settings regarding AA rendering is app controlled or turned off)
Originally by: Zarkash But I have also found that if I start EVE in safe-mode, there is no problem anymore. This works for me in this instance to.
Any help/useful input would be much appreciated. Cheers |

Change the following value to 'Balanced' with these instructions: Control Panel -> Nvidia Control Panel -> Adjust image settings with preview -> Use my preference emphasizing: Balanced Hope this helps anyone else.
You're right - there are no _trinity.dll crashes now. Both other options 'Quality' or 'Performance' I was running before throw this trinity.dll error message.

Flicked through this topic as I have also been complaining about simular crashes on the 'Gate freeze' topic.
Has a Mod or CCP actually responded just once to this? Have any of you actually had a reply that mattered from a petition yet?
And I am forced to fly in map mode, its the only way for and has been for best part of 8 months.

Edited by: Zion Diamente on 26/01/2009 08:51:06 Well I have this problem - its only just recently started to be serious - like a few days ago - although I have occasionally had for a number of months. Now I cannot log dual clients in for more than 30 seconds before I get a trinity.dll error, or if i have changed my nvida setting like a post above mentioned then a blue.dll error.
tbh I would post error logs - but as the OP is over a year old and its still not fixed then their aint much point really.
all i will say is - i only get it when i run two clients - the thing is - it doesnt matter which account I load first its always the same instance that gets the error message. (btw I have run two clients for 18 months - for 12 months no problems at all - so it aint an underpowered GPU causing it)

Worked for me for about a day. But tonight, it;s worse than ever. Just logged after 3 in quick succession. Twice by a jumpbridge, 3rd by a Gallente outpost. Think I'm going to scratch the lot and rebuild. (client, drivers etc.) Poor show from CCP though, have to say.

Well, I'm having the same random CTDs as almost everybody in this Topic. I reinstalled Eve (This time the Full Premium package instead of the standard + upgrade - it shouldn't make a difference though) and keep having this CTD problem, with the Premium client only.
AMD Athlon X2 6000+ Sapphire Radeon 3780 4 GB RAM (3,25 on Win XP) Asus M2R32-MVP latest chipset / GFX drivers
My errors go along the lines of this one:
Faulting application exefile.exe, version 5.20.1.5197, faulting module python25.dll, version 2.5.3100.1013, fault address 0x0002bf87.
So CCP, the Premium client IS so much better than the classic taht you are thinking of discontinuing the classic client? In my opinion there's a lot of work for you to be done before you can even think of discontinuing the only working client for your game.

I have a Sapphire Radeon 4850 and have been getting those blue.dll crashes with most of the newest ATI drivers they have released.
Here is the way it has been going for awhile - try a new ati driver.. it works perfect on all my games but eve which triggers blue.dll crashes then roll back to ati driver 8.8 and all is right in eve. Rinse and repeat for all the last 4 ati drivers they have released.

I've been getting these CTD's too on my Radeon HD4870. Running Cat 8.12. Seems to be totally random when it happens, but never in stations, and it seems to be more frequent around gates especially right after left or right clicking in space. Never happens when clicking on a UI component.
Logserver doesn't seem to report anything useful. Debugging with Visual Studio almost always breaks at address 10064686 in blue.dll, mov eax, dword ptr [ebx], with an access violation reading location 0x00000000 (sometimes different).
I can submit the .dmp files created by Visual Studio if that would help. |

maybe unreleated, but as mine has been unstable for only the past few days, mainly on the python25.dll message, i was thinking what I had changed.
first was using triexporter to look at the new tech3 models, so i used my alts install to run eve and still had the same problem (in case triexporter had corrupted something)
the other thing I did was re-install Star Wars Galaxies (stop laughing!!) it was their free 5d come back for vets. Utter waste of time so uninstalled again, BT, as part of the install you needed to put on python 2.6....! not sure if there is some conflict or something that has messed up a shared library file or something.
Anyone else running SWG or python 2.6?

Not running SWG or python, and I still get the python25.dll crash. Funny thing is I was getting the atiumdag.dll one until I downgraded my catalyst & drivers from 9.1 to 8.12.
Anyone NOT getting crashes with an ATI card? I'd be curious about what drivers and OS you are using.

I'm concerned by this bug. I'm experiencing it since that sunday, it's really annoying.
I tried to deinstall and reinstall the game, unsuccessfully I tried to revert from nvidia 181.22 drivers to 178.24 drivers, unsuccessfully
Each time that bug appears, it is because of python25.dll or trinity.dll, I've sent a report error each time to microsoft.
Today, a new error have shown : (in french) Application dTfaillante exefile.exe, version 5.20.1.5197, module dTfaillant gdi32.dll, version 5.1.2600.5698, adresse de dTfaillance 0x00042300.
this error has been reported.
I hop CCP will find a fix sooner...

I, too, am experiencing this problem - with a brand new computer running Vista 64-bit and a brand new client download. I have a Radeon Saphire HD 4870 video card using the latest catalyst driver. I' going to try the suggestion above - to turn off catalyst A.I.

I bought a new computer but it seems i bought it for nothing, becouse eve keeps crashing on it. I have read all suggestions in this topic and tried all possible settings. With no result so i guess i need to keep my old computer to be able to play eve. I find it strange CCP isn't reacting to this topic... This is my latest appcrash message;

what do you mean disabling "Catalyst AI".
I got x800 with catalyst installed. Is the problems to all my computer freeze up and blue screens?

Hi all.
e2140 @ 3.01ghz 8800GT 4gb Geil DDR2 Vista Ultimate 64bit
Spent 7 hours today downloading and reinstalling clients. I was getting the _trinity.dll crash as soon as the splash screen had finished on startup. As usual Safemode eve worked fine, but disabeld the premium graphics.
Fixed it though. I opened the nVidia control panel and in the top right hand corner of the Manage 3d Settings page i clicked Restore Defaults.
Irritating that's it's ballsed up all my other games now but, seems to have solved the issue.
No more messing about with AA for me.

I did update my ATI driver and CCC from 8.501.0.0 to actual release 8.582. After this eve crashes with following error - mostly when warping to a gate or station:

Also i got a 2cm black bar on top of the screen all the time and flickering circles on the ship while i am cloaked after gatejump. This was "fixed" after i disabled HDR but client still crashed.
Downgrade to old version of ATI driver fixed the problems.

If you are getting the blue.dll crashes, turn the Catalyst AI option off for ATI drivers, that fixed it for me for now.

Try turning off Catalyst AI and dropping down to 2xAA. At 2xAA I have no problems, switching to 4xAA gets me random ctd's.

I will recommend that everybody here double checks their CPU temperatures. Once my old Athlon XP 2700+ hit 55 degrees Celsius, EVE would begin to run the risk of crashing via _trinity.dll. I think I've said this before, though. ________________________________________________

I experience the same problem with Premium GFX (blue.dll, python.dll, trinity.dll crash). Updated CCC to v 9.2 and disabled catalyst AI. The only effect I've noticed so far is an increase of FPS from 80 to 110 ;-) No new crash so far but still testing.

TBH eve needs a higher AA setting then 4x. Even with 4x it looks ****ty as hell... Thats the mainreason i want to play eve with AA in Premium, no need for HDR at all.
If CCP doesnt get this stuff fixed with the new expansion, then there is no point tp play it any longer... Dont want to get "eye cancer" on the long run.
Just imagine... we now play with classic and max AA settings. and with the new expansion, even "premium light" doesnt work with AA due to a Major ****up of ccp....

signed. Although I think Eve classic in 1280x960 and 4x AA yields a good balance between FPS and Quality ;-)
