Sweet jesus christ, it's no surprise the Devs don't take the time to talk to us anymore. All we do is whine, *****, and moan, mocking every single thing one of 'em says, even if they try to inject a bit of humor into the situation.
It's a ****ing game. I mean, seriously? If the server is having a rough day, try putting on some pants and going outside for a little while. I'm quite sure that they don't enjoy when things aren't going the way they want, just like us.
I wouldn't talk to you idiots either.

CLOSE THE SERVERS NOW!
Your sarcasm detector is broken, read the last line. However, in your scenario the node would crash and nobody would have control of the system. Sad but true.

What a joke
Node crashes, rollbacks occur, people getting killed by ships they already destroyed 20 mins previously before the crash
Getting podded and sent back to a "previous" station that was once your updated clone base, several weeks ago
Collecting insurance on a ship twice, lol <---------best one so far
And the list continues

Oh please.
Shut your mouth and go play the game. Cut the whining and the panic.
The cap limit is high, a node coincidentally failed (this is similar to other node failures I've seen), and nobody is going to be able to use this as an exploit in 0.0 until we get dynamic load re-balancing, because we'll still get horrendous lag with fleet fights over 400. And the cap is higher than that.
So take a chill pill. Get up, stretch, stop hassling Wrangler (for crying out loud, he's one of the few "nice" devs left!), set a long skill, and eat some popcorn. It helps.

I'm glad they are finding it funny.
I don't moan when the server has trouble, but I do object to solutions which are worse than the problem.
I'd rather Eve was down than allowed to continue in this crippled state.

I'm sorry how is hard limit any different from the system crashing after 1300 people in a system?

Ok, it appears we're looking into what happened, it is unusual for nodes to die like this but it doesn't appear that it's connected to the system player limit. It will be investigated further though.
Any ETA when it'll be fixed yet? Does ccp even know what caused the "problem"?

Good for you. It doesn't occur to you, however, that in a competetive enviroment the fact that your Eve works fine gives you a distinct advantage over people who are not in such a fortunate situation?
It would be fine for a group of people to take advantage of another group who can not respond?

Where was your whining there that a system cap is unfair? And that it will mean the end of 0.0 warfare?
You know that cap never existed, right?

There are critical events transpiring in game this weekend which you apparently have no inkling of. Literally years of effort and game play hang in the balance for both sides. To have this happening at this particular time is very distressing for thousands of pilots on both sides. If one side or the other loses due to how they play the game, then no one would be complaining, however nobody likes to see that much effort at risk due to serious bugs.
So yes, you are going to see some sharp criticism from the more involved community members. Even from those that have a great deal of respect for CCP.
As a side note, I can stable your high horse for a reasonable fee.

I find it a class act that CCP decides to close a thread about that topic going on CAOD \o/ It shows how much you care about 0.0 . Obviously is the risk that comes with this "feature" for the random market alt or mission guy in Forge much higher than for some 0.0 alliances

I understand that. However, I'll betcha 100 million ISK that 95% of the people yelling in the thread aren't in this situation.

I'm no stranger to criticizing CCP. But the problem doesn't appear to be of their making, it appears to be an equipment failure. Shit happens.

no in a capped system no one can do shit becuase of the lag
in a crashed system everyone feels it, downtime is extended, market orders are lost, poses go half shield for no reason, people dysync all over the node the system is in, there is 20 min module lag, the eve site crashes, wrangler is awoken by the sound of his e-mail box opening up, there are 1000s of posts about CCP rigging the game to make one side win as peoples computers start to combust.

Of course it is thier making. CCP owns and created the hardware. They are reponsibile for its maintenance and the code that runs on it. No one else is to blame except CCP. Get it through your thick skull. They are the ONLY ones who can fix it.

On the other hand, if that is only to affect Jita, then why wasn't there a hard cap ONLY for Jita?
Or is it not possible to set a cap for a single system? ... |
