No, this is not such a confirmation.
Is that a denial then?
Don't mess around Wrangler, we are already annoyed enough without you trying to be clever and hiding behind semantics.
What is the cap? Does it apply to individual systems, or the node that they are running on?
If you don't know, say so. If you aren't allowed to tell us, say so.
All we want is a little honesty, transparency, and respect. Is that too much to ask?
Why doesn't BoD play their Dev buddy cards? Come on, you have plenty of those.

A pragmatic, short term & temporary fix - seems very sensible to me, good luck to CCP in resolving the problems.

It is until all those hastily formed newb fleets reach the desired territory they want to lock down and all dock up. Don't even say they are not on the move right this second.
However all the rest of the people in this thread who have no 0.0 assets to defend should not be affected in any real way and are just trolling for the troll of it. I'm doing just fine atm in empire with no lag or traffic advisorys hampering me in any way or form.

TBH your either not thinking the limit thing out, or you just know what could happen? I mean your asking for AGGRO as it is putting a limit on the system. Now people just might push the limit to max - Just to **** off CCP - Major people trying to login. there should be something in the programing giving people login option :"PULL DOWN MENU": giving them option to log in. Maybe I should be the one getting paid! ------------------------------------- We judge others by actions We judge ourselves by intentions. |

Not very many can pull that off. At the moment we only know that jita has capped out at 1200 so I wouldnt be worring about getting locked out just locked down

/me lolz Yes, and he's the puppet master too ... making them dance, all them puppets, screaming "Dance puppets dance!" So when somebody else gets all semantical on you, really, it's him on the strings. It's all a big conspiracy. You are SO right to not admit you made an ass out of yourself and attack the puppet master back instead .... so right indeed!

What happened with economic penalities in crowded systems? CCP was going to introduce increasing tax etc. if there are too many market orders in system. It would fix Jita lag. I know it won't fix fleet lag but at least it will reduce the problem.

Originally by: Jacob Mei Am I the only one who thinks this is actually a good idea? Granted in its current form it can be abused but every freakin weekend we get 50+ threads about how someone is stuck in Jita yet when CCP finally takes steps to control the issue, all hell breaks out.
CCP: "Ladies and Gentlemen, please do not go to Jita." "Please friends do not go to Jita." "Please do not go to Jita." "Don't go to Jita." "do NOT go to Jita." "What part of do not go to Jita do you not understand?!" "Okay, thats it, population cap weekends for jita!"
Seriously they have always asked people not to go to that system after it reaches a certain point and are constantly ignored, they finally make a move for the betterment of most of the community on the weekends and people flip out. Newsflash, it isnt the end of the world that you cant go to Jita on sunday for a few hours!
Mate, what youre saying here is totally ok, except this thing is not only applied to Jita. If it is then mea culpa for all i said, but i have no idea why ccp has to wait with solutions until something really bad happens. 2 years... 2 years is a looooooong time of doing nothing that actually solves the problem.
How many systems actually get up to Jita level populations other than Jita? Its not a conincidence that they deploy this on a sunday, one of the highest times for Jita during the whole week.
Besides, this so called "keep your enemy out by maxing the population in a system tactic" that people are fear mongering about is a joke.
1. At most you would only be able to keep it up for 23 hours assuming you even got enough players to all log on for 23 hours and sit in a single system, good luck to that in the first place.
And if you DID manage to do that in the first place, considering that the bulk of an alliance would all be in place to max out the population limit of a single system would mean that the territory everywhere else would be lightly defended if at all, meaning easy pickings.
2. It would only last for 23 hours assuming the node didnt die or CCP didnt act, IE once the server comes back up the enemy at the gate will race in and your back to where you were.
This is, pure and simple, population control of Jita and has been a long time coming. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

The limit seems to be around 800.
I hope it can be lifted soon again. Why was it implemented for every system in Eve anyway and not only for Jita? I mean, the cap is meant to affect Jita only anyway, isn't it? |

that would contradict what the devs said something in the line of "the limit is set that only jita is realistically affected"

Well if Gnulpie is right then theres going to be no problem. 800 in a system is never going to be reached by a fleet swarming the system and is unplayable anyway if there are all trying to fight.

Can we get some info on the rumoured infiniband project? surely the amount of money generated by eve for CCP could easily fund this kind of project... I vote for a stop to all other improvements until a new server using new technology has been created!

Originally by: CCP Wrangler During the downtime today, Sunday 21st September, we deployed a new feature to Tranquility. The Stargate will now check how many players there are in the system and deny access if you attempt to jump into it when too many players are present. In addition to this you will not be able to login on a character if the system has too many players. We have also increased the amount of GMs this evening and if you are unable to login, please press the ESC button and submit a petition in the Stuck category.
This is a temporary solution to this issue, we are working on a permanent feature which has the highest priority and will be implemented as soon as possible.
I saw this when I logged in today and I lol'ed, knowing that a threadnought would ensue.

This type of response has been replied to about once an hour for the past 2 years.
What you are asking for is unreasonable, as the people working on the rest of EVE, can't work on the Infiband project. Takeing them off the rest of the eve projects is just stupid. They cant do the work.
Infiband will be deployed when it's ready. Which baseing it on that saying from evey other mmo, means it'll come out 3 months before it should due to player pressure, and see 3 months of issues.
I want it to be deployed as much as you do. And as much as the rest of us. But I'd rather wait an extra month with the game as it is for it to be deployed successfully.

CCP, perhaps now is a good time to finally recall all the experienced EVE Devs who jumped-ship to work on the your new sucky-sucky vampire MMO.
We are all still anxiously waiting to experience the "premium" aspect of this game..

This look son the outset to be a very bad idea, totally changing the face of 0.0 warfare, making taking systems easy... we will see some space change hands very quickly if this is left in place.
max number of men into system, 50 capitals, maintain gang size, use titan bridging to ensure constant flow of gang members, re enforce pos, wait max 2 days, kill pos, rinse and repeat.
I havent read the fine print I'll admit, but somethign here does seem to be amiss. Maybe I am missing one of the mechanics for this feature, but id it is as it looks, it is plainly a crazy idea. Not often in 5 years I have disagreed with a CCP decision, thisone really boggles my mind.
I read somewhere it was Jita only idea, then and only then did it make sense to me.

Originally by: CCP Wrangler This change affects all systems currently, but I'd like to emphasize that this is a temporary fix, not a permanent one. Creating a better solution is top priority and we're working very hard to make it, test it and deploy it in the very near future.
Very near future is like soon, only without the trademark.
The fix, at least for markets, is the ability to pick up deliveries from corp or personal hangars from 1 or 2 jumps away. This means people will not need to be in jita/amarr/rens, et all, unless they're placing an item on the market. And, again, with the delivery methods (Interbus?) they can put goods up on market a couple jumps away from the core market hub and still make sales.
Or, make markets constellation-wide and any items purchased in that constellation are delivered to the hangar of the purchaser at the moment of purchase.
Problem solved.

Another stupid person. I thought KIAEddZ would be more clever. Joining the bandwaggoneers of CCP-bashers now?
Didn't you read the post? It is temporarily, for a short time! Besides, abusing the cap and jumping in people for the only reason to block out others is not allowed as also stated.
It was a quick hack to prevent another Jita debakle today, but it would really surprise me if CCP would keep the cap everywhere up for more than a few days.
Are you all that faint hearted that you think CCP doesn't know exactly what a player cap in 0.0 could mean??? Even though 800 should be enough for the next couple of days. Not that easy to organize a 24/7 of 800 people. |
