Excellent fix.
Good fix (even though you were sarcastic, Jack), but not until another expansion?

This I hope, too. I wonder how many P4 items and other valuable stuff got duped at massive amounts. Probably a few Outposts worth.
Well you know how CCP is about announcing fixes to exploits ahead of time. However I suspect this exploit will remain in place due to the lack of PI fixes in the patch notes. It's probably tied to a number of other bugs and the lack of patch notes on those bugs leads me to believe the exploit will remain in place much longer.

Thanks for offering a compensation for the long downtime!
Do all the skill points have to be applied to a single level in a single skill? What happens to "excess" skill points for the current level?

This is correct, more information on how it will work will be added to the patch notes as soon as possible.
Ok this doesn't really affect me because I don't run alts. However, I can certainly see how this would have a negative impact for some people. How would this remediation help a player with a high skill point character that is no longer training anything and the player has no plans to train them further? This creates an unbalanced reward/remediation that some players get to benefit from, and makes it useless to others. I recommend CCP revisits this decision prior to deployment in order to maintain balance and fairness.

Maybe we shouldn't be as concerned as we are, since they are going to give us a very small pool of SP. I don't expect them giving us 1 million SP or more. Maybe up to few thousand SP, no more. So, it's not such a big deal after all.

"These skill points will be assigned to the highest skill point character on the account"
This disturbs me a bit as I acquired an additional character after the downtime and that character has more skill points than my normal character on my main account. I don't intend to play that additional character as much as I do my main one, and have even started a new eve account to transfer it over to, so in essence I will be forced to place those skill points on a character that I do not want to put them on because I cannot complete the transfer of the additional character to the other account before the patch?...
I hope no one gets me wrong, I appreciate the effort that CCP puts into bringing us the game and supporting it, and the extra skill points are a nice touch too, I just hate having the feeling that someone's giving me a gift, but telling me I can't use the thing in a manner that would benefit my account as intended by CCP in giving the gift in the first place.
anyway, I'm not mad, just a little disappointed....

These are also the sort of fixes you can give to a newbie to do - give them a list of planets, tell them to go through and make sure this field is between 0.75 and 1.25, if it isn't put a random number in in that range.
Conversely fixing rockets would require more changes and testing - the testing part being important as its a task you couldn't necessarily give to a newbie as they wouldn't have the knowledge to know if things were now correct.
Kithran
Yeah, don't invest a little time into fixing something that matters and instead invest next to no time into fixing something that has no effect at all.
*golflcap*
*facepalm* If you're going to contradict something then at least have the decency to address the points made.
Doesn't matter how much newbie dev time you allocate, they're not going to get a change that influences the game balance inside one release period. Should those newbie devs sit there twiddling their thumbs or do something useful.
I was referring to the point that fixing rockets also requires changing 1 or 2 numbers (it was in the part I quoted) The effort to do this is probably the same as changing a number in a planet's description.
And my point still holds: changing that number has no impact on the game whatsoever. There are so many other things, things people have requested/talked about for months or even years. Like the order of some menu items ("Trash" right next to "Activate"). That would make a real difference and cannot possibly be harder to fix than a typo.
But I'm sure you are very glad you were able to bring the "wrong developer" argument once more? So *facepalm* my ass.

So I cant help but notice nothing important is being fixed.
Like the jump bridge bug - You know when you use a jump bridge or jump portal, then the selected item window fails to update. (still no response to my bug report btw)
Or how about the chat window text bug? When it overlaps and gets cutoff.....
and what about when you dock and none of your ships show up in the hanger sometimes, requiring a relog.
Oh well i guess, bugs that effect gameplay aren't near as important as a pink texture when zooming. :*( |

Okay I'm not a computer whizz, but this seems kinda lacking...
These seem like maybe simple fixes someone spent maybe 10 - 20 hours on at most.
So I have to ask what did they spend the other 20-30 hours of the work week doing?
And what was everyone else doing?

I would like to know many hours sp we are getting tomorow, as I'm unsure if I should put it on a short skill and if it overflows would the excess be waisted or wether i should assign the sp to a long skill.
Thank you

About the "removing learning skills" topic. you all are quite excited about the SP compensation well i'm also but. on my account that 4.4mil sp spent at quite early in game and little suffering in other development then it has made up its time by now and is worth investment paying me dividends every single minute.
what happens to our atributes after that? so i start to train at almosyt half speed what i'm doing now?
and p.s. that talk is totally offtopic.... wierd... :P Low skills and high standing IS a problem. |
