Edited by: Jarod Hawke on 29/06/2010 14:54:19 I've been working more than 12 years in a professional IT environment and if I would perform like CCP is performing with the continuous postponing of uptime I would have not made it through the 1st year.
It is very clear to me that the programming code and database structure of EVE must be like italian spaghetti because there is no other way at all any IT staff could get away with the amateurism CCP is displaying wit every, every single small, big or bigger patch or update.
I seriously suggeest making a career change guys.. maybe try to find a job in a small 5 man business or something. Maybe that is without your comphrehension. Good thing is this is just a funny game isn't it.. If EVE would be a serious IT application/environment in a serious company, say pharmaceitical industry or health care... The horror of even imagining it.

What i cant understand is that u whine about this if u think Eve is the only game they cant keep deadlines then think again every game has that and learn to live with it patches can creat unsuspected problems and they need to be adressed simple as

Weren't you the same bunch of whiners who were complaining that carebears get ganked too much in high-sec? Or was it that your nano*** ships got nerfed? Or because of falcon? Hell, I can't really remember anymore.
The tears taste the same, anyway. mmm... sweet sweet tears...

The last DT was littered with time extensions, I know IT is incredibly hard, but it would seem that, whomsoever gives the estimate for completion should also work in IT

Uptime has been updated to 15:00 UTC (login screen)
To those with the mind-numbingly simple attitude of "I work at a company where we have deadlines and if we don't meet them, the universe implodes" - Grow up. You're either working for some ****-ant little mom and pop shop *or* you're working for a firm with federal regulations where you have multiply mirrored server clusters where it can't go down or the financial world really does collapse.
EVE is a *game*, ladies and gentlemen. Our ~$15 a month gives us 23 hours a day access to one of the most in-depth, evolving MMOs the industry has ever seen. So if we lose the odd day or two every now and then over the course of a year - Harden the **** up or take your money elsewhere- Believe me, CCP will not miss a whiner, nor will the rest of the community.
Restarts after patches are delayed for a reason. If they put it up, those of you whiny little children would whine even harder when whatever it was that they SHOULD have delayed the uptime causes even more problems.
At the end of it - Could YOU do a better job than CCP ? No, of course you couldn't - Don't lie to us and tell us you could, because if it were true, you'd already be running a better - and more successful - MMO than Eve.
Grow up.
To CCP: You rock. (And can have the stuff of any whiners who rage quit ? )

How is having too push back the server up time lying, if you say too your mother you will be home at 3pm but the bus breaks down on the way home, and you get home at 3:15pm does that make you a liar and you will be grounded for two weeks?
No but giving her soup and telling her its tomato and taking a dump in it is lying.... :)

He is just venting like the rest. He has know idea how a server cluster of that size takes to update. Its is always better to work/train/practice/etc to standard not to time. If things need more time then take it, because its the standard and quality that is important not the time.

The downtime is always way, way longer than anticipated. Maybe throwing in a variable like 1.5 in front of the equation would save a lot of customer angst.

Originally by: DiamondTitan For all those complaining, You got 13 Expansion packs at no additional costs, You have the ability to purchase your game time in-game with in-game currency, and you get 3 trials per month to send out, and get 30 extra days if any of them sign up
CCP is more generous than any other Pay to Play MMO out there, and it's ridiculous to see people complain over an extra Hour and a half wait, especially when it comes back up you'll have a free new ship and skillpoints to allocate as you wish
I have to agree with you there . If you guys have any other games go play them . Moaning and whining about how long its taken is not going to make it happen any faster .

As we all know Eve was down for 27 hours last week. This was no real fault of CCP but of the young Icelandic intern named Helga who accidentaly dropped the server in the pickled herring barrel next to the water cooler. What really caused the delay wasent trying to get the pickled fish out of inner workings of the server, but the fact that everyone was distracted when this young blonde was chashed around the office by the Icelandic IT team carrying pitchforks and torches. They are computer nerds, they rarely get to see a woman (unless they google it). so lets have a little patience, let these guys get a cheap thrill, go about our normal lives and our make believe world of EVE will be back online soon enough.

I see alot of griping with some legit complaints in this thread. Please try to remember with as many people play EVE, CCP will never be able to make everyone happy with gifts and compensation. Everyone's character situation is unique. If you've ever played other MMO's, you'd know that EVE is different, in that the devs at least try to say sorry when downtimes or unexpected crashes happen. The other online games I've played would just tell you oops, oh well, leave if you don't like it and never give any type of compensation. It will never be 100% fair to every player, but at least they try to make it as fair as possible to as many as possible. With as much time as many of the players put into this game, I know how serious people can take it. Please try to remember it is a game and no matter the short comings of any patch or compensation, you're still gonna play for the love of the game that's making you complain in the first place, so you might as well not get upset and enjoy it for what it is, the best game on the net, because if it wasn't the best why are we still playing it?

Please remember: 'most' of the 'complainers' bad-mouthing CCPs efforts are your pool-boys, truck drivers, fast-food employees, and various other non-technical job functions that just like to game. Some are slightly more technologically skilled and most likely work the floor in tv sales at best buy, sears, and such... They have no idea what it takes to manage something of this scale...
CCP, you can now give me 100mil iskies for saying what you really wanted to say! LOL

I know, since your such a god why don't you go start a Game Development company and begin work on an MMORPG, or perhaps i could just seriously suggest a change in your hobbies, since gaming is obviously very stressful and serious for you

You may want to read that EULA again... Pay close attention to item #14...
In the event of a material breach of CCP's obligations to provide access to and use of your Account, the System, Game, Game Content or User Content, your sole and exclusive remedy shall be a refund of any pre-paid subscription fees attributable to the period during which you were denied such access and use, or an amount equal to the value of three (3) months' subscription fees, whichever is less.
so you are to be refunded a huge whopping ~$0.03 for the hour or so downtime,
