Based on this it's clear Helicity didn't do 'nothing', but a ban is very obviously way over the top, and more to the point the very best way to stoke the fire currently roaring around this place.

It's a known fact that CCP has been out of touch about 0.0 mechanics for years. To me it seems they are getting a first hand lesson on what a failure cascade looks like. ______________________________________ "Originally by: Tuxford It was a dirty hack to be honest but we couldn't find anyway around it. It is beyond me how you as a company manage to get it so wrong time and time again.
You no longer are in touch with your customers and as a result they no longer trust you. You may as well be Sony now.

Banning Helicity was not the best choice, regardless of how abrasive CCP may have found him to be.
Now the disgruntled player base has an icon to rally behind.

Trebor, should I read this as "they will listen to you if you cancel subs and ignore NeX" or you were trying to say something else?
Given my position as a CSM, it would not be appropriate for me to advocate that my fellow players take a particular action.
That was the answer I was expecting, I understand your position and the responsibility.
But I think I can arrive at a certain conclusion on my own, without you telling me that

I have been supportive of ccp's recent patch, but after reading the newsletter i'm really concerned about MT and it's direction.
Paying for vanity items is something i wouldn't be interested in, but i thought that if people are interested in that kind of thing then it's up to them. Now that i give it more consideration i can see that developement time has been wasted on a feature that doesn't interest me or enrich my eve experience. I would have preferred the MT development time had been spent on such things as bug fixes or releasing CQ with more content, like actually being able to walk around a whole station.
What worries me is that MT is something that there going to grow. There're softening us up with this inital release of MT with vanity items, but intend to extend this to ships and ammo, which will have consequences on many aspects of eve, not least pvp.
I'm am against any MT development and would consider unsubscribing permanently if it continued.

The argument that PLEX can already be used to buy ingame items and thus nothing will change is false.
There is a very real cap on how much RL money can affect the game at the moment. PLEX market will react to supply and demand and thus if more PLEX = real world money is put into the system the price of PLEX will fall ISK wise. This leads to a limiting factor on how much impact PLEX can have in the game.
This mechanism will completely be removed if items with ingame benefits can be bought directly from CCP. Furthermore the money grabbing scheme that they seem to be introducing is full of fail. Ingame items will reduce the usefulness of additional accounts and thus it will hurt CCP money-wise.
All my six accounts would gladly pay additional subscription fee, by the way, CCP. It is the obvious choice if you are in need of cash. The second obvious choice is to axe or readjust things that are not making money. Here is a hint: Killing Eve off to finance them is not the way to go. Look at how many games have come and gone online lately. A game that brings money is thousand times more valuable than a game with a prospect of making money at this time. Saying that Dust and WoD are gambles is actually quite kind given the reality.
People that are responsible for this failed new direction of Eve will need to be re-evaluated as to their positions. People that are responsible for the idea of killing Eve slowly and milking your only paying subscribers as much as possible in the process to fund future gambles need to be re-evaluated as well. This is not to appeace your paying subscribers as much as it is to save CCP. Such incompetence need not be tolerated.
My final word: Put the game back into the hands of Devs that play. Screw T20-gate already.

The simplest way I can express my feelings about this whole thing is, I'm a gamer not a golfer.
I'm playing this game because of the overall vision for Eve that has been sold to me, way back in 03 when I first started playing this thing I was sold what can be descirbed as an 'Obi Wan Kenobi' moment.
I'm talking about the scene when he first sits with Luke and mentions the clone wars that is a moment in sci-fi history that has always lived with me, when a few words conjured a vivid and wonderful Universe that I knew I wanted to know more about. I wanted to see the clone wars, I wanted to know that story.
Fast forward several years and we have all seen what happened to the clone wars, for the love of all that is Johnny Turbo don't do a Lucas to us.
So yeah I'm a gamer not a golfer I'm buying your vision of this games future, not a weekend trip with Roy from accounts who wants to hit my balls so hard with his wood that they come in his hole and bounce out so hard they hit a birdie in the face.

CCP has invested too much into their new baby to allow us to change their mind.........
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO ANSWER THE MT QUESTION CCP?????? Man up and do it so we don't waste anymore of our money!
And this is why CCP can never with a straght face say MT is vanity only. Dust will use MT, Dust Will be part of Eve.
I doubt this customer base is stupid enough to think that Dust customers, if they are 12 years old or 50, are going to appreciate being considered vanity items when they clearly are not.
CCP has painted them selves into a corner with this MT crap and their dishonesty.

Absolute derpery. Hardly a threat, simply an expression of disgust and anger. CCP Manifest also posted previously that those who had sent Soundwave death threats were being ignored due to everyone understanding player anger, yet, when the most vocal opponent against your crappy plans doesn't even make a threat they are permanently banned for an entirely ******ed reason.

Pray tell, what logic is missing here?
Well, a "lot" is an admitted overstatement. I was thinking specifically at the time though of the fact that _some_ people don't realize that NeX stuff on sale now can be purchased with in game ISK through purchasing PLEX.
It's a relatively small point, and I probably should have (a) been clearer or (b) not said anything at all.
There is a lot more logic being said here though and a lot of passion as well, and I don't mean to try to diminish that.
Every monocle ingame cost somebody $70 though, didn't it? I think that by failing to take that final logical step you lost sight of the fact that you were putting (crazy) fixed real life price tags on ingame items.
The newsletter's worrying - EVE's a subscription based game. In fact it's a game with a higher than average subscription. A game with a higher than average subscription which is almost unique in being designed to incentivise players having multiple accounts.
So there're plenty of us who're already paying two higher than average subscriptions, who're now reading that you seem to feel it's appropriate to charge above and beyond that for items with an ingame impact. Is this the first ever case of an MMO company attempting triple dipping?

Bull****. Stop treating your customers like imbeciles or children. We don't need handholding or explaining the greater concepts of your strategy. We know exactly what you are doing and we don't like it and nor do we want it. And we are telling you time and time again that WE DO NOT LIKE IT AND WE DO NOT WANT IT. Do you understand? I won't make excuses for those features we know are much wanted or the ones people want us to go back and "fix". Heck, I want some of them. Soundwave and Eyjo and Dropbear and TonyG and Fallout want them too. BUT, making and designing and creating a game isn't pick and choose, especially when it comes to introducing something like Incarna or devoting significant dev time to rewriting old code backbone......
Bull****. We told you we DID NOT WANT INCARNA. We wanted all the other stuff* fixed. But you guys carry on because you know best, delivering useless garbage expansion year after year after year. Your post is a disgrace.
Well atleast he showed he had a pair by actually talking on the forum; Pann and him. and Fallout doesnt count as a poster on this forum. Atleast 2 DEVS are showing some signs of having a Spine

You are still way below the limits of that card and it probably won't really get any hotter while you play.
I understand that I am, but to gain close to 30 degrees overnight is worrying. Also the fact of people reporting that their CPUs are overheating, the last thing I need is a 70+c GPU and a 90+c CPU, while idling in a station.
My temps went up a bit too, after I reset the graphic settings then tweaked them, I started getting temps I'm used to. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |

CCP has today to determine whether EVE lives or dies.
So melodramatic, in fact odds are Eve population will likely improve with Incarna even if the entire forum unsubs. It may not be the Eve you know but it will outlast your sub. ***By coffee alone I set my mind in motion, by the beans of Java thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, by coffee alone I set my mind in motion.*** |
