Originally by: Aethras Hello.. well i used to run without problems eve with wine (on a ubuntu 7.04 64), but with the revelations 2.1 update eve stoped working. I have reinstalled wine to the last version, removed de .wine dir and winecfg a new one, installed from scratch eve, and isno use :( i get this errors:

ive tryed to copy the dlls to several places (including windows/system32 but no use either.. anyone have a clue about this?
I'm having this exact error. I tried the making copies, deleting, moving and general screwing around with the lib.ccp files that everyone else is doing and it isn't working. When i pull up terminal, cd to the lib directory and do an 'ls' I get:
Quote:

stdlib is LAST! so it's not that. Nobody seems to be paying any attention to the error that Aethras and I are having. Is anyone else having this problem?

stdlib.ccp being first or last doesn't seem to be enough. Make yourself lots of duplicate lib.ccp links/copys, that'll fix it.
I found on my setup if I makes lots of duplicate stdlib.ccp I could eventually force the splash then crash. Otherwise I could never recreate the bug.

Well, not to be rude or anything, but how blasted many of these things do I need to make? This is more than a BIT crazy!
Frankly, this ISN'T working for me. I've been working with it for the past 2 hours and NOTHING. all I have to show for my effort is a F-TON of lib*.ccp files, a bunch of symlinks, and a non-working copy of EVE. I need another, better answer.
Please understand, I'm not trying to be rude. Goodness knows you guys have gotten me out of a jam plenty of times before and I greatly appreciate everything you are doing, but has anyone here thought that maybe we might be looking at more than one problem here?
It just seems to me that the errors posted by others and myself regarding error message requests for already present *.dll files might indicate a different problem than the one you are pointing to. I've no idea WHAT that might point to, but it does seem to show something other than the files you guys have us messing with.
Any ideas?

I agree. I made 16 copies and still nothing. When I ran it in crossover office it said that RedistD3DXonly.exe could not be found. IE, it probably wasnt installed? Im guessing it has something to do with direct x. Not sure if it helps but im having the same problems here. Could really use a solution quick!

I just updated myself and got the exact same error. Odd. It's almost as if Wine has taken a step BACK from the previous versions. Very strange indeed.
In the meantime, how DOES one "downgrade" to an older version of wine on an Ubuntu system?

I had exactly the same issue as described here with a similar setup (Debian etch amd64, nvidia drivers). I was running the x86 Wine binary, and guess what I'd overlooked when installing my drivers? Yes, that's right, the 32-bit glx. Make sure to install the ...glx-ia32 package if you run a 32 bit Wine under amd64, this should fix it. ----

Hey,
I'm trying to run Revelations 2 after having run Eve in wine successfully since Revelations. At first I decided to pull the latest git of wine, patched wine, was able to patch Eve just fine, and ran it. Unfortunately wine or Eve is not recognizing my native d3d9.dll anymore, and is running in software emulation.
fixme:d3d_draw:drawPrimitive Using software emulation because not all material properties could be tracked
I've seen the above message several times in this thread recently, but nobody has addressed whether or not what they did actually fixed that issue (just other issues aside from the above).
I didn't have this trouble before with wine-0.39 so after reading some posts in this thread about the issues with wine-0.43 and .42 i downgraded to .041. However it still will not detect the native d3d9.dll or is having some trouble with it. I already ran ReDistDXD3DOnly.exe several times, and ran DXSETUP.exe in wine's drive_c directory as well.
Is hardware acceleration broken in Revelations 2 or is it just me? Getting horrible artifacting in stations right now, and wine-0.41 to .43 is pretty much garbage compared to Revelations 1 and .39. Right now I can pretty much just toot around empire (although I did sneak through 0.0) and change skills.
Nvidia drivers are loaded, glxinfo is fine. I had cedega, it detects glx fine (although doesn't run because of some unsolved cedega issue that support couldn't address). Wine runs Steam fine as it has done with the prior versions. It's pretty much just eve and/or d3d9.dll.

i have a feeling it has something to do with filename enumeration, i got it working perfectly under cedega 6.0.2, just made a few symbolic links, ln -sf lib.ccp lib0.ccp then made lib1,2,3,4,etc.ccp's all linking to lib0, so it took a few times of restarting eve online till i got up to the right number, hope you all have better luck than me :)

IIRC that message refers only to the initial login screens.
As far as EVE running, I'm having absolutely no issues with 6.02 cedega (for primary playing.) or wine .9.41 (which works just fine, and is what I test with and use when in need of multiple clients on the desktop cubes.)

The 'white' fps monitor is, of course the ctrl+f ccp built in one. The green text is cedega's monitoring which can be turned on/off via the cedega GUI.

I've upgraded to 0.9.44, it seems to be working somewhat reasonably, though I am seeing a lot of these: fixme:d3d_draw:drawPrimitive Using software emulation because not all material properties could be tracked which I'd been seeing in 0.9.42
And a few of these: fixme:d3d:IWineD3DQueryImpl_GetData >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glGetQueryObjectuivARB(GL_QUERY_RESULT) @ query.c / 203 which I wasn't getting before.
Tried with sound on, but got a Dmixer error and a CTD fairly quickly.
Seemed to have a bit of instabilility other than this but was not wine, rather I'd been folding the last few days and the processor was running a bit on the hot side, after 1/2 hour of cooldown I went out and mined for 3 hours straight with no hiccups.

I can confirm that 0.9.44 work without any patches on Gentoo/Linux. I mined for around an hour this morning and the game did seem a lot smoother and things like the market browser loaded more quickly, although no reported FPS increase. This may be more to do with only 17,000 ish people playing compared with the normal 36,000 ish people when I play in the evenings. --- Gentoo/FreeBSD/Linux developer |

Just an fyi, but the amount of people online won't affect how your client responds....it is the amount of folks on your NODE that will have more of an effect.
sitting out in 0.0 space with 36000 online, I can detect NO difference in responsiveness...it is when you hit a node with a fleet fight, or 200+ (oh, say...jita like numbers) that you're going to see stumbling.
