Everthing working with wine 0.9.41 (for amd64 in my case) anyway, my english is terrible but i'll try...
1: Uninstall the current wine, and install the 0.9.41 1.1: get the patch install from ur cache folder and save him in other place (desktop whatever) 2: uninstall the game 2.1: delete every "ccp" "eve" folders (including the cache folder) 3:install the game (in my case i have the last pre-patch client) now is the "key" DO NOT RUN THE CLIENT NOW! get that patch install, and run (choose the right folder when he ask) now run the client he probably will crash (black screen) go to the prefs.ini and edit

Ok, it was just a problem of driver. I used auto config for my video card last night, and it didn't work, so Fedora restore X server with old config, but it reinstall old driver, wich didn't work ...

Edited by: Vehkmet on 29/08/2007 14:57:20 Having an interesting problem. Using wine 0.9.44 on my laptop, I can log in fine, and see the interface. However, the 3D part of the screen (i.e where the screen would draw my ship in a station) is a uniform grey colour. I don't think it's related to the patch (today is the first day I've tried EVE on the laptop). I get the same in 0.9.41
Now I *think* this may have something to do with my chipset. I've got a brand-spanking-new Inspiron laptop, which comes with an Intel 965GM gfx chip. Now I know that it has the power to run EVE (I get 30 frames or more in Unreal Tournament 2004), but I don't know if it's 'supported'. Anyone know the answer, or have any tips for rendering properly?
Config: Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop 2Gb Ram Intel Core 2 Duo cpu Intel 965GM gfx Ubuntu Gutsy (7.10) OS Wine 0.9.44

After shaving a small yak to fix my nvida-glx installation on Feisty, I've somehow managed to get the latest (36191) build of EVE working on Feisty's wine 0.94.1.
Ran winecfg, set it to Windows XP. Made sure I didn't have a virtual desktop engaged.
Used a prefs.ini of advancedDevice=1 audio=0 audiodriver=0 buffersize=1024 clusterMode=LOCAL clusterName=LOCALHOST@NODOMAIN debug=1 decimal=. desktopHeight=1024 desktopPrimary=0 desktopSetup=1 desktopWidth=1280 digit=, eulaagreed=1102961213 eveampGain=0.4 evevoiceGain=0.9 host=0 inputhost=localhost languageID=EN languageID=EN lastRanVersion=3.22.36191 masterVolume=0.4 messagePeriod=200 movecapturedone=1 movesettingsdone=1 music=play network=1 networkAdvanced=1 newbie=0 port=26000 rebootReason= rebootTime=128297003221509321 saveBenchToFile=pickle:I00showintro=0 showintro=0 texelalign=0.0 uiGain=0.4 voiceenabled=0
Made sure I had arial.ttf in place, and it all just works. I can even alt-tab out of it back into KDE and chat on konversation etc while waiting for skills etc (17 FPS in station on a good day with this DX7 440 Go card).

First off, ATI drivers have terrible performance, both open and closed source. Secondly, you've not configured either or there is an error in your config as they both enable DRI support which your report shows is not working.
So in other words, consult your distro documentation on how to configure the fglrx driver. --- Gentoo/FreeBSD/Linux developer |

a small update on wine from the current git tree: - sound crash before login screen is fixed - EVE crashing with voice enabled is fixed as well - EVE native windowed mode is fixed to some extend (switching causes still missing window border but starting in windowed mode has a window border for draging the window)
