Has anyone had success with the Empyrean Age (Premium graphics) and WINE ? Last time I tried on SiSi with rc2, it was a graphical mess (all blended effects like contrails were black planes, planets dynamically changed size, etc). This is with a 8800gt, both 169.04 and 174.55 drivers.
I guess everyone else will find out by Wednesday

EA gives me corrupted background graphics, but only after I jump into another system.

I'm using 1.0 rc4 and just updated to EA. Notta problem or a glitch. GFX under premium (hdr off of course) look great. fps undocked and docked appear the same as pre EA, and I'm not seeing any tearing or gfx issues at this point. |

Similar results to Sevarus, the update to Empyrean Age JUST WORKED(tm).
(Slackware, Wine 1.0 rc3, 8800 GT 512 video)
Not longer getting any more glitches on login screen. Some very minor glitches on stations. HDR and shadows off. Framerates are good. Congrats to the devs for not breaking anything. (But give me back the old Helios model, please) |

Hiya ppl, im just starting to migrate eve to linux, I try with cedega and wine and in both I got the same problem the Licence Agreement windows goes completely Grey without text, and I cant go any further from there.
I read in this post some references to the same thing but couldn't find the solution.
I'm running Debian linux Etch, in several different machines all Pentium 4 2.8Ghz or so, and 738Mb Ram or above.
I'm using Clasic graphics verion, and low GPU, which might be part of the problem but I'm not totally shure.
Any advice?

you need arial.ttf
try getting microsoft font pack or simply ask a friend to send it to you on mail.

I've always used the auto-patcher (well, one time I used a download manager because the connection was dropping out) but I've never had any errors like that. |

looks like the eve voice is more or less broken in ea
it takes up to much cpu time and sound shutters a lot

Well I copy the arial.ttf file to the .wine/drive_c/windows/fonts/ but the problem remains, the font was allready there by the way. Any other clue?

Well, yes in one machine Im testing and no in another, guess that the second is no god at all, but was trying to make the install work there, with more success as I got more time working there. But I reach the same state in both equips, no text in the licence agreement.
Which seams odd to be a 3D graphics issue.

using rc5 with archlinux (64bit) nvidia 9600GT
downloaded premium content everything start ect. blah blah blah
but very low fps down to 2-3 fps (terrile i know :) )
The PC is out of the box and also the client does not detect HDR setting so i cannot enable HDR(yeah i edited the registry value )
also because i m a complete nub on wine the only command i used to configure wine was winecfg
Do i need to do anything else (fonts + system32folder copied from windows xp partition)
DX3DRedistrub.exe in the bin folder of eve doesn't run at all

i guess i m doing something wrong so please lend me a hand so ithat i never log on my WinXP partition ever again :)

Seems like you're missing the nvidia proprietary drivers: Xorg works, but speed is terrible, and most 3D features are choppy at best, missing at worst. Remember that at the moment you have to disable HDR and Shadows.

hmmm cant be
i AM using proprietary drivers and in specific 173.x with compiz fusion ect (tried running without compiz too) didn't try to run another game as i only play EVE :)

yes i did add one key in the direct3d path OffscreenRenderingScreen = vbo

wine ootb, classic content: 60-80fps, Window-Mode is running perfect
CCP's Client: 20-30 fps and the a few broken Textures.

I ran into some trouble lately.
So, I'm running ubuntu hoary, latest wine from wine repos.
Asus a6000 Laptop, radeon x700
And my "esc" menu just turns all black, and sometimes ingame it does turn all black. *sigh*
Hopefully I'll get this fixed today. I'd be gratefull for any hints.

Why so?
I don't have any problems running 2 EvE clients with compiz.
Neither I run in trouble on other games.

I get significant loss in performance and laptop overheat if any composite WMs are active when i play e.g. EVE...

I seriously need to figure one thing out:
Whenever there is a lightsource rendered, I get totally rubbish fps. In station it only drops down to 35, but in space I hardly ever get above 15 and when looking at a sun its 1-8.
So, if anyone here has a hint how to tweak eve and/or wine, I'd be happy to try.
Same machine has no trouble running eve on winslow.
