PS: Oh and btw i kinda did this with a brand new minmatar alt a few months back; not really the same in the sense that i was going to play that character just to see how far i could get.
I went from minmatar space out through great wildlands, along to the right into red alliance space (even to their home system) then all the way down to omist....after hours of flying i eventually got bored and bio-massed the character. 
Getting miles into 0.0 is easy if you dont have any fear of getting killed/podded etc.

Heh, 0.0 really isnt that bad as long as you avoid the very very shady spots, such as FDZ, since Celtic Anarchy are such nasty devils

I can attest to Dust angels skills in his weapon of choice (executioner) after he disrupted one of our mining ops. I had a very enjoyable dogfight with him in my Claw, and learned a lot (like light missiles don't work as well as rockets on enemy 'ceptors  ). At least I kept the ship in one piece. I'll get you next time Dust Angel........maybe

Awesome story teller man, you definatley have a knack for it. My first trip into 0.0 was uneventful cause we moved as a corp into an alliance. I still remember actually being nervous to point of almost shaking tho but shhh....

Velcome to venal. I suggest you try the local gurista agents if you do want to make isk out here. The belt spawns is not suited for frigates , but the agents always have some minor issues they want solved.

I agree with someone above, getting an offical Blog space would make more user friendly, even a MySpace (dread the idea) page would suit and would allow you to make the process all the more... alive... Since I am sure in days to come this thread my get berried or rather large.
Nonetheless, its another thing that makes me wish some days would go by faster. Though I can imagin that you will do well, since someone has already offered to aid you. Your future is cirtaily Orange...

Great read.
I'm doing a similar thing but not so spectactular.. I'm running into geminate instead of venal and have zero npc stations to use in this region and can't dock at whatevers left but that's just part of the fun of exploring (my main reason for throwing myself out into the wild).
One thing I found helpful when I could do it:
1 Condor class frigate
1 1mn MicroWarpdrive I
1 Nano Internal Structure I
1 Civilian Shield Booster
1 Civilian Armor Repairer
2800m/s and the ability to slip out of an odd tight spot or two (so far) if you keep your wits about you. Oh and learn how to make instajumps if your interested in a little more secure travelling.
Please blog this stuff cause I'm looking forward to seeing the next installment to compare to my own experiences :-).

To the OP: Before you spend a lot of time and trouble in 0.0 trying to get to a station, you should double check to be sure that you can actually dock at it. If the station isn't owned by a NPC faction, you must have good standings with the owners to dock - which you won't at any of the stations in branch or tenal for instance. Don't try to go to BKG for instance. Also you should know everyone will kill you on sight as a suspected spy alt.
