A couple of mentions of EvE in that thread, hopefully get some attention. Though im concerned by the amount of Flyff and Nintendo DS players (sorry, but your games can't really be classed as 'important' :P) hogging the attention heh.
Was able to log in first thing this morning fine of course, will check again after work during peak.

Dear Tiscali Customer Thank you for your query. Apologies for the delay in replying to your email. After carefully considering your case we have decided to give you another chance. This is your last chance so please ensure you do not abuse the service during peak hours because the large amount of traffic you are doing is affecting the service of other customers.
Your package is unlimited as are all consumer packages we provide. We shall not ask you to keep your total usage under a specific limit for the month, we are asking you to be considerate to other users during peak hours from 6pm to 11pm Monday to Sunday so all customers experience a high quality of service all the time. You can upload and download as much as you wish outside the peak periods. All we ask is that you keep your internet traffic to normal email and internet browsing during peak times because the high volume of traffic you are currently using during these times is affecting the service of our other customers. Any transferring of large files, peer to peer file sharing we ask is done outside of peak hours.
So to summarise...
Dear Tiscali customer,
please do not use your 8mb broadband connection to play games between 6-11pm mondays to sundays. Go shaft yourself,
Yours sincerely,
Tiscali
My friend was with Tiscali aswell , until he could get Tellywest BB , I been with TW BB for like 4yrs & they are very very good hardly ever any faults.. unlimited totally .. my friend just got the 4MB line & its very good for him as he downloads alot , mine bein 10mb I cant really complain apart from i cant really max out 10MB unless running lots of (*****) but yer anyways Tiscali block ports & start to add limits on ur line the more you use it over 6 - 11hr after 3 warnings I belive.. they are a utter joke I would tell anyone to join TW BB or another ISP ,

Please email me in game , if you decide to go with them =P always good to bring in new flock hehe!
belive they give you a friend month or credit ur account if ya bring in new customers.

Edited by: Camulos Redne on 15/12/2006 19:48:51 Here is my history with this issue. (names ommited)
To whom it may concern
I am a Tiscali Max customer who is currently having connection problems to a game server 87.237.38.200 26000. This is not a problem with my line connection as internet access remains while connection to the game server is lost.
The loss of connection is between 18:00-22:00 GMT every day, the game can be access and is stable outside of these times which leads me to believe that there is some port restriction via Tiscali.

Customer11/12/2006 06.11 PM I don't see how this can be anything other than yourselves blocking the gaming port during peak times 18:00-23:00. This is due to the fact that the game server is stable during none peak times and every day at the exact same time of 18:00 the connection to the game server is lost and will not reconnect until 23:00.
This has been going on for 2 weeks now which quite unacceptable.
To be continued...

Hi All,
Thanks for all the information provided so far, have been able to narrow down the issue and believe it to be the cause.
The steps forward that I'm taking, gathering the games impacted and tagging the traffic to ensure its not routed in the same way p2p is.
I have been speaking to one of the game providers and have had the port and IP details from Mike for battle field 2.
Will get game by game flagged as not p2p. Which should quickly restore your ability to use them. Once I can stop the impact will try and identify the point in the network that corrupting the packets.
I would be grateful if you could let me know what game your having problems with, with the IP address and Port they use.
Avi"
Since you have denied that you are using port blocking earlier in emaails of this incident I will be requesting my MAC code.
Thank You.
Bottom line is they have been lying to me and are now going to throttle me. I use p2p at none peak times, this is not what I signed up for which was 8meg unlimited broadband.

well i came home and found my helpfull landlord had decided without asking me to subscribe us to TiscrappiMaxx.
Ha fat load of good that will do, we'll still be blocked, along with all http/s connections. we'll cancel the line telephone connection and adsl as soon as the ntl guy comes round and reactivates the existing wall box.
Just signed up with NTHell(only had a couple of problems with them and they fixed it resonably quickly(it wasnt thier fault anyway,- BT contractor damaged the embedded cable in the street)
and as i know where to collar the Local Engineers (ByBox courier Depots) so will get their mobile number so i can get any issues sorted asap. 10Mbps here i come, (with 30day cancelation option in contract incase its crap as well, not bad)
just hope its reconnected b4 xmass, as the 4 of us here are going nuts with no internet in the evenings . x2 tennants have moved in with g/f's cos its sooo bad.

Yes, still having problems between 6:00 and 11:00, still having trouble establishing a connection, if I do manage to get a connection it is abysmally slow (worse than dial up) and hideously unstable (5-10 disconnects per hour). Also (a new one to me since friday) have two computers here trying to use one line, if my computer is connected, my brothers normally can't find the Eve server, if he does manage to connect, it results in me getting booted. Tiscali of course are still trying to fob me off with pathetic excuses and bare faced lies.
I am reliably informed that Tiscali are being bought out, seems to me that this can only be an improvement (how could things possibly get worse), the downside as I see it, are Tiscali actually going to care enough to do anything at all prior to the takeover?

Edited by: Camulos Redne on 19/12/2006 19:22:17 I still can't get connected but hopefuly I'll be sorted after I come back from Christmas break.
Tiscali gave me my FREE )I made sure it was the free one) mac code without a rasied eyebrow and I'm only 5 months into my contract.
But then again I have a long list of complaints.
1st Modem kept randomly disconnecting. 2nd Modem never arrived. 3rd Modem as good as the 1st so I gave up and bought ethernet one. FUP without any prior warning. Several General complaints about line connection, line speed (during peak time I might as well be on 56K with the speed websites load), then this port blocking nonsense.
I've given my MAC to BE Broadbroad who have ensured me they won't be throttling my connection if I decided I want to use their Unlimited Package for what it was intended. I.E Actualy making use of high internet speeds.

tiscali told me to cange a setting after i lost my net conection completly a few days ago. since then either by coincindence or pure chance i can now play eve between 7-10 (havnt been able to for the last 3-4 weeks)
i am using a sagem fast800 modem so i guess this will only work for you if your using the same although you should have acess to the same settings woth your software i just dont know how..
open the dsl mon app from your task bar and once open hit ALT-D this gives you a advanced menu.
next go to the config tab and at the bottom of there you should find usb type.. change it to "BULK" and see if that works for you. as i said im playing eve right now and did last night too.. 2 days since i made this change under there advice. could just be a fluke tho.
good luck people.

Edited by: Kua on 23/12/2006 15:32:28 Heh - I've had exactly the same problem you experience with another game civ4 - i can never get onto the server between around 7 and 10pm (which frankly sucks). I also cannot get onto chat programs and the like. It's actually been Ok with eve. And yes tiscali are very unhelpful - they should have mentioned that probably thousands of people have complained about teh same problem. Also they didnt manage to point me in the direction of a very relevant thread someone else has linked in this thread. Meh when I went to it I couldn't log in. Ugh. I hate Tiscali!

Ho-Ho-Ho
Are you all sitting comfortably children...

then Uncle Mabusei will tell you a story...

It Twas the Night b4 Christmas Eve and upon the dark-dreaded hour of 18:00 GMT...
The Tiscrappi connection fell over(yet again)
So off i went and pulled out an ADSL modem which i had spent hours reparing and plugged it in, just to see if it worked at all.
And Lo upon it's eventual boot up i checked the status pages it did declare... 8Mbps download and 428Kbps upload speeds.
Hmmmm.... Upon further checking i saw my IP was now 194.... instead of the dreaded FUP'd 212....
Hmmm the Tiscali elves in India have been busy, trying to bribe all the very Unhappy boys and girls in Europe with new shiny super fast internet connections for Christmas. They even managed to hunt down most of the IP's for the online games servers and unblock them (for now)!!!
Although it wont make the slightest bit of difference, as all the naughty boys and girls will suck up all the bandwidth over Christmas and will all get FUP'd again before the new year.
So, all those naughty boys and girls will be getting their nice new shiny MAC's for the new year and will all move far-far away and will Never-Ever go back to Tiscalii land again.
And in the evenings when the nights draw in. They will tell all their friends about the bad dark place they were once trapped in, where time runs very slowly and what unspeakable things went on in there.
And eventually in time, when all those children grew up and had 10TB Fibre feeds to their homes, the Name of that Bad-Bad Place will have faded away... and been forgotten as if it had never existed.

I am not from UK, but in my country i would be able end contract just on base they didnt tell me about blocking some ports even if my trafic is low. In my country i am using 4096/512 line with 5 static IP unlimited download and no FUP whitch cost me around 100 eur/month. i am on begining of my 12month contract, but i can end it for no reason and i will only pay part of "1st connect" package whitch i get for free instead of 30eur. (if i end contract say in 6/12 i will pay only 15eur and only if its not for reason of breaking contract agreement from ISP side). ISP dont have right to limit your connection to SSH (ebanking etc) or legaly paid content (online games, forums etc) and if they saying those generate big trafic same as P2P or streams, they are lying, pure web browsing generat more trafic then those.

update on this subject... seems like tiscali are still having problems letting customers play online games on peak times. Ive just been off the phone with them and they say they are still working on the problem, after 6 months or more!!! ye gotta love the time response....not
Ive been with tiscali for over nearly 4 years now and as far as i can see this is not an issue that will be resolved soon, so imho, get out and go to some other provider that can host online gaming better...MAc code ftw!

Chum just upgraded to broadband to play Eve. Used Tiscali unfortunately. They have released him from his contract because they cannot/will not resolve the problem with eve. If you want to play Eve when you want to and not when your isp want you to, you need to dump tiscali. This will solve your problem.

Someone contact that BBC show, watchdog or whatever it's called.
If we make a big issue of it, they're bound to eventually give us access to online games in the evening.
I myself use Tisca-lie, and am quite fed up of them. Pathetic download speeds on a 4MB package, while my friend quarter of a mile up the road (who is further from the exchange than me!) gets brilliant speeds with BT.
Plus, every evening from 3:30pm to 8pm i experience frequent internet disconnections.
They're a load of crap. If i wasn't moving to Australia in 2 months time, i'd change to BT immediately.

Hi there after a long drawn out discussion with CCP EVE devs and Tiscali somehere in India, I have finally ordered my MAC code from Tiscali, I am fed up with their poor connection and port restricting and everyone else is going off ship popping while i helplessly sit around on ventrillo listening to all the fun going on.
Have told CCP that they are potentially loosing thier customers because of tiscali, if you are one of the lucky ones like me and you and read the forums and petitioned instead of just quitting EVE assuming that its the tech guys in CCP's crew being incompetant when that just isnt the case. But instead being Tiscali or a few other ISP's fault by restricting various ports thier end of the equasion.
After I have spoke to a great guy at pipex called phil, he scratched his head about connection to EVE specificaly, he talked to thier tech team in manchester (who understand as they are onlin games just like us) who catergorically said they do not restrict any online game ports at all.
Tiscali FTL (MAC Code needed) Phil at Pipex - extension 10423) FTW
Pipex, dont let me down!
My advice is get out of tiscali as soon as you can, even if you are not at the momment experiancing problems, as you probably will as it seems to be spreading to more people. Find yourself a good ISP.

I used to use Tiscali, service wasn't too bad but I couldn't get speeds greater than 2Mb even though my BT exchange was capable of at least 4Mb. I ended up getting my MAC code and migrating to Sky, best decision I ever made. Took about two hours to do on the day and I've never looked back. Stable 4.5Mb link that never seems to drop.
Slvr Foxx, you'll probably want to stay away from Pipex mate. Tiscali are about to buy all of Pipex's voice and data services for over ú200M. You can read more about it here:
