Originally by: Naim Stargazer Are the Icelandair packages subject to early-bird special as well, or at least likely to be of limited availability?
As I am coming from New Zealand, I am planning a few weeks holiday around europe before the fanfest to make the most of the extraordinary cost getting over there. If the packages are likely to be quite limited, I will need to do a bit more planning to know which country Ill be flying from.
The Icelandair packages have 'early bird special' price until 31 May, or until they're sold out. I don't think it's possible to say if they will sell out before 31 May or not, I could talk to marketing and see if they can get something from Icelandair, but even if we can it would only be an educated guess at best. I would suggest that you plan your trip as soon as you can anyway.
Copenhagen is a nice city to visit, you could consider making a stop there during your trip to Europe and take the Danish Icelandair package.

Depends on where you go, can get as low as 350 ISK up to about 600-700 ISK and anywhere in between. 350 ISK is not that common though.
I prefer this currency converter myself, it's not 100% accurate because the exchange rates and bank fees changes, but it gives you an idea.

Originally by: CCP Wrangler It is yet again coming close to that time of the year when the fabulous, wonderful and amazing people of EVE gather in the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik, for 3 days of partying, beer, lectures, beer, roundtables, beer and much, much more! And beer of course.
EVE Fanfest 2007 will be held November 1st to 3rd this year, so order your flight and hotel package, get your Fanfest pass, pack your bags and then just sit and wait for about 8 months... Maybe you don't need to pack just yet, but make sure you order the package to catch the "early bird special" provided by Icelandair. Please note that you will need to purchase the Fanfest pass separately from the flight and hotel package.
This year will be bigger than before, better than before and with more Devs (and beer) than before! Head over to the EVE Fanfest 2007 page and read all there is to know about it!
Make sure you check out the new EVE Fanfest 2007 FAQ!
Well. Again I have bought the FanFest ticket. I will order hotel room and airticket later in the coming week on payday :) I have also decided to stay a few days longer this year. SO if anyone wants to team up for some fun, Im all up for it!
I hope I will be just as welcome this year as last! And ofcource, I am very much looking forward to see you all there!
So Beware! The consumer of all bree is again heading towards Iceland!!

NO!!!!!! You must not come ... thou can not compete with me for the Player from far far away.
Seriously. Frekkin A. More Kiwi's the better. It is absolutly fantastic.
As for getting flights from NZ, First time caytlyn and I used Malyasian Airlines, they where ok. Last year we went Thain airline (business class) and stopped in Bangkok for a fews days on teh way home ... which was really really worth it.
Hope to see you there.

Edited by: Morhon on 13/05/2007 00:11:19 A word of warning.... Iceland is VERY VERY expensive for those in the UK. I'm not trying to put you off but if you want to do anything other than just the fan fest take lots and lots of cash. ú7 per pint ú36 for a main meal (just the main course) is the norm at hotels. Unless you are rich or live with your parents I doubt anything I say will make you understand how much it costs out there. A bobble hat worked out at ú80 in the gift shop at Geyser
I managed to save a fair ammount last year by booking the exact same trip with expedia.co.uk so it might be worth looking into; however, I would try to get the hotel the fest is at, even if it costs alot more. Only Icelandair and a similarly named cheap airline fly to iceland I think.
Anyways have fun and I may see you there... with alot more úúú this time lol.
btw... It's much less cold than you might expect, -7c was as low as I remeber it going last year (and that was at night).

I lacked the courage to go to FanFest last year as I had just started playing. I'd like to go this year.
Can any (rl) girls that went last year please contact me in-game. I'd like to know how it turned out from a girl's perspective.
Thanks! |

There where a number of femail attendee's last year (more than in 2005) and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Though I did not a couple of 'drag-a-longs', these are the poor female partners of players that get dragged along even when they do not play the game, but they still seemed to have fun.

--------------------------------------- Last year was a great time and anyone even considering the trip should definitely go. It was a ton of fun and I just bought my ticket for this year.
Here are some of my recommendations to CCP to make it even better this year: 1) PvP Tournament: give play-by-play commentary over a broadcasting system (like on EVE TV) to generate excitement and let the crowd know who's who and what's going on. This can be a lot more exciting than last year. It needs an active Host person. 2) Give out official laminated name-with-corporation neck badges to each player like at other fan fests. It helps you identify your friends/enemies and encourages socialization. Or at the very least, post a cool looking template on the website that users can download, print in color, hand write the info, put inside a badge-thingy, and then wear with pride to the event. Official badge is better though because it ensures that everyone will be wearing it. 3) Hold the round table sessions in separate side rooms where there is less crowd noise so it's much easier to hear and participate. 4) EVE Genesis: give play by play commentary (like on EVE TV) for the final match of the card game tourney so that those of us not familiar with the card game can get an understanding of what the players are doing. I think I was like most of the attendees where if you didn't play you couldn't tell what was going on just by watching. I wanted to know what the game mechanics were. I think a lot more excitement can be generated around this. 5) All you can drink Quafe! ---------------------------------------

We have a lot of security, apparently the guys we use provided security for snoop dog, so we're confident they can protect us all.

Well, the good thing is that you'll be surrounded by loads of EVE players, so you should be able to find people to talk to. After all, you all have one thing in common.

We will most likely continue having the EVE Fanfest in Iceland, but there are a few gatherings every year in the UK that you can attend, check the Player Gatherings and Events forum for more info.

I got the same flying home the first Fanfest, there's just no point in going to bed, just stay up and sleep on the plane. I also made sure I left a day later and it wasn't a morning flight the year after that.

Originally by: Gustovness Hey fellas, I'm kinda worried about the shuttle ride from Keflavik airport to the Reyjavik hotel.... How long is it? The flight is supposed to arrive at Keflavik at 6am, but when does the fanfest open up? When does the shuttle get to the hotel? When we arrive, will the hotel be strict about check in times? I'm coming from Las Vegas, NV, USA, and a day's worth of travel will warrant a washing of one's ass, I'm sure!
Please, I'd like to get a reply from someone who has actually gone before, not from someone who feels like sayin "meh, it should take A, B, and C ammounts of time..."
That's really the only thing that's got me worried... the shuttle ride from Keflavik to Reyjavik seems like it'd take a LONG time!!! Feel free to reply to me via eve-mail!! As a matter of fact, I'd prefer it!
When you arrive at the airport you just go to pick up your bags and then it's a quick exit. Outside the airport there will be a flybus, it costs about 1200 ISK, I would suggest you get some ISK through your bank prior to leaving but you can just use the ATM at the airport. You get on the bus, pay them and tell them what hotel you're going to. The bus goes to the BS- terminal in Reykjavik where you either have to change bus to your hotel or remain on the current bus, depending on what hotel you're going to. But you don't have to worry, they will tell you everything, and you can always ask them anything you want to know, they all speak english. The whole thing generally takes about 50 minutes.
I thought transport between the airport and hotel was included? ________________________________________________ Captain Anderi Bourdieu - Hadean Drive Yards

Its not, but dont worry. Its dead easy to get into the city and the hotel! Just be sure you have 1200 isk at hand when landing in Reykjavik for the Flybus! its very easy to spot them. They line up outside the airport arrival terminal. You will be very fine! Just ask the driver if he can take you to the hotel of your choise! They usually do! :)

Because Iceland is way cooler than Ibiza.
