It is a part of a problem. IMHO there are a lot of areas where EFT could and should improve, aside from updating to Apocrypha and a 3 months product cycle is a really long time for such applications. I like EFT and I'm glad there is such tool, but IMHO the community will benefit a lot more if EFT will start using the same approuch to development as EveMon.

I only can't understand, why it "should"? As developer myself, I see no point in your words. If I share some of my work with community just because I think it would help someone, noone can change my mind and force me to do something with my tools. Dislike it? Find something other. 3 months is far from being a long cycle when it comes to "improvments" as it is not a "need" but a "wish". If it was crashing or had any bug rending the application useless or impossible to use then yes, 3 months would be long and to the point of maybe killing the application. But, not the case here right?

I notice some discrepancies between the range EFT gives and the range that I see on EvE. I checked if I had the skills and implant information updated in EFT and it is updated.
What happens is that EFT reports a range of ~57 Km for Javelin torpedos and ~34 Km for Rage torpedos but I see them disappear in EvE at ~51 Km and ~32Km.
Any help? This was happening before the latest patch.

EFT uses flight time x velocity, but ingame missiles take a moment to accelerate, so the range won't be strictly accurate in EFT.

also not so much with torps but most other missiles have parabolic trajectories, and if you watch rockets they tend to orbit their target once before hitting it. both these things reduce the total effective range a bit.

no, its not. if you select the missile, so its got that little square around it, you can see the square follows the same path as the trail.

I don't mean to repeat myself but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. It could still be a purely visual effect.

i would say because if a target is orbiting, the missile is using a line of sight flight profile which ends up being a greater distance for the missile to travel than your distance to the target.
but you said it didn't happen before the patch.

Another possibility is that often npc are running away, so even if you keep the npc at the range of 52km, if he's moving, he's increasing the flightime the missile needs to get to him thus getting out of range, same for pvp.

missiles are tracked server side like ships are. if the actual missile (that thing you can click and have a box appear around) appears to orbit before hitting, then the missile is orbiting.

That might have been a beta version, or maybe even an alpha.
Just relax. Gripen will release the next version when he feels that it is ready for the great unwashed community out there.

If you (or anyone else) wants to pitch in on "such a tool", EveHQ has a reasonably good, actively maintained fitting manager and is open source. Feel free to have at it. Personally, I'm happy to wait for EFT. I do enough programming already in my day job.

That seems an odd choice of implementation. Every missile would be like a little suicidal drone then. I wonder if they use similar code.
Do you have reference for this?

EFT is ok but not anymore now that there is EVEHQ. Sorry EFT has been slow releasing fixes after every single patch, even tiny patches. Good luck waiting for t3 ships along with other updates. There is literally no reason to use EFT over EVEHQ.

Aside from being -A- (a really big down side ), Gripen is awesome in my book. This guy has developed a tool, for free, on his own free time, that is used on a daily basis by probably 99% of the eve community. Not only that, but it works EXTREMELY well with only very minor bugs here and there. THANKS FOR ALL THE HARD WORK!!

I dont know how i would play EVE without this program,
anyone interested in t3 would be wise to wait for this program to support it so you can tell what to get without having to spend a ton of ISK on the incorrect subsystems

I just managed to bug out my copy of EFT so that it cannot import API info anymore. I had one profile selected and chose import, entered in the details, then realized it was my "All Level V" profile and not the correct profile for the character I was attempting to make a fit for. So I switch to the correct character and hit quick import on accident first and then hit regular import and it said that all my skills were zero and even after deleting and re-making the profile it refuses to update using any API.
Not much of a bother since I simply unzipped a new copy but I thought I might share that in case you care about such bugs Gripen. Also, cannot wait until the new version I am very excited!!

I'm having the same problem. I can't update my skills w/ the API import. It's a bit of a **** off.
I would also like to thank the creator/creators of EFT, it's an amazing tool and thank you. One small request (which I hope would be simple?) is a small notepad that we can associate with our fits? For thoughts on the setup, time left to train, uses.... whatever.
But again, thanks for this amazing program.

They fixed it now, seems like the API server was down for a little while. It emptied my character, and now it just reimported everything correctly.
