Lol what a bizarre coincidence that the API server went down right as I tried to upload my skills in a wonky way, leading me to believe in an imaginary bug.
In that case this thread is now about petitioning CCP to hire Gripen and give him whatever he needs to update us to 3.0.0 for Apocrypha!!

Gripen, you may be interested in hosting your files on a site called Mediafire - Check it out it's got unlimited bandwidth and some cool features and people don't have to wait to download the files either.

P.S. Post from your main or STFU.
FYI: That is just the date of the last full package download, all associated modules have been updated more recently.
The 47.52 meg install took me around 53 seconds to download. Incidentally, this size is minuscule in the day of $80 1-million megabyte drives.
EveHQ is quite a bit more than just a fitting manager.
Know what you're talking about or QFT.
P.S. I run both.

It is a part of a problem. IMHO there are a lot of areas where EFT could and should improve, aside from updating to Apocrypha and a 3 months product cycle is a really long time for such applications. I like EFT and I'm glad there is such tool, but IMHO the community will benefit a lot more if EFT will start using the same approuch to development as EveMon.
Did you pay a dime for EFT? Did you?
If not, then STFU and GTFO.
EFT is provided by the developer for the community to use, out of the goodness of his heart. He is under NO financial obligation to you or anyone ese to keep it updated - and words from a overentitled ******* like yourself can have the effect of discouraging him from updating it.
":Why should I invest my free time when people from Grehem do noting but demand? I have a life too, you know!".
If you're not willing to wait on the author doing his update, feel free to go use something else. What? Nothing Else?
Sounds like you're boned, and acting in this way won't get you anywhere. Your attitude has a point when it's a commercial house doing it, that charged you money - since EFT is free to all, the dev is under no obligation AT ALL to keep it going.
Look at QuickFit, EFT's predecessor - it's now dead. STFU if you don't want EFT to die, too.

I notice some discrepancies between the range EFT gives and the range that I see on EvE. I checked if I had the skills and implant information updated in EFT and it is updated.
What happens is that EFT reports a range of ~57 Km for Javelin torpedos and ~34 Km for Rage torpedos but I see them disappear in EvE at ~51 Km and ~32Km.
Any help? This was happening before the latest patch.
That's been around for a while now.
EFT reports the THEORETICAL range, and uses flight time * velocity.
In actuality, unlike guns missiles have a very short "acceleration" window once launched. The equation for missiles really should be flight time * missile velocity - 5%.
All the fitting tools that exist or have existed have that little error - it comes from using the same function to calculate missile range as it does for gun range - guns don't have that "window". In essence, in the calculation missiles have huge optimal ranges and NO falloff.

Actually, EveHQ has an option where you can set the actual range to a proportion of the theoretical maximum, anywhere between 0.5x and 1.0x.

Excellent programme, I have noticed a possible error, when fitting out my manticore STEALTH BOMMER using EFT it allowed me to fit 3 bomb launchers, when I purchased my manticore and Launchers , it will only let me fit one. I realised you are only allowed to fit one bomb launcher in any one ship but I thought ( hoped) the stealth bommer was an exception especially when you fit the first one the CPU and Power hardly move. Is this an error in EFT or Eve?
best regards

Hmm - Haven't seen that, where's it located?

Edited by: Splynter on 22/03/2009 12:03:04 I, like many, would love to see an Apocrypha-updated version of the tool and suffer from a bit of restless anticipation, though, I assure you that anticipation is untainted by blame or harsh impatience.
Yet, just a few days ago a very dark thought occurred to me while reading this thread. Is Gripen still supporting this tool? We have all blithely assumed that he was, but has anyone heard from him indicating that he is working on the tool update? A quick search of the forums tells me that he has not so much as mentioned EFT here since some time in 2008.
I want to emphasis that this is not intended to be some veiled criticism of the time the update is taking to program but an honest question as to whether Gripen has decided to update it.

MY thought's exactly and if he is not where can I find an Apocrypha-updated type fitting tool ----------------------------------------------- [Image Removed] CCP did not like my signature so I had to replace it with this one |

When dragging a phased muon remote sensor dampener fitted with a script from one ship setup into the projected effects area of another setup the inappropriate attribute is affected. If fitted with targeting range script, the second ship loses scan resolution. If fitted with scan resolution script, the second ship loses targeting range.

He updated it for Quantum Rise (The last expansion) and he would have made a "I am no longer go to support this tool, someone else can have the codebase" type post by now if he was not going to update it.
I am almost certain he will be updating and I, like the rest, am waiting with baited breath!

People need to understand that T3 brings a small headache to fitting tool devs. As they not only have a ship with fixed information to add to the list but a ship that can be a combination chosen by the user.
So the concept behind both EFT and EveHQ (wich as far as I know still don't have updated their fitter either) has to be modified/enhanced to include this step when chosing a T3 ship.
It takes time to be done right. ------ This sig space is Read-only ! omgalink - Online Skillsheet |

Well it's not as hard as you seem to say. If Gripen has done a good structure to his ship data inside EFT, the change would be quite quick : make the structure dynamical in order to make it possible to change the number of slots. For example this kinda "general structure" could have been made since the beginning even if the number of slots are static : say 8/8/8/3 then lock slots according to the chosen ship attributes. Then add a "Rack" (Hi/Med/Low/Rigs, and now subsystems) where Subsytems would be managed as any other fittable module, giving bonuses on slot numbers beside other attributes. If well organized "before" the patch, this could be done in less than a day.
What I think is that Gripen just has something else to do, and doesn't have time to work on EFT currently. What I hope is that he just give one little message to the thousands of people waiting for an update , that is just to say "I'm working on it" or "i'll work on it" :)
We all know that , as a free tool developper, Gripen has no obligation on giving us quickly any update, but I think just a word would give people a reason to wait and stay confident on a possible update.

Didn't say it would be hard... just a small headache for the reason mentioned and for the dev who did the app. Yes it could be done easily if the structure was open enough to modification. But if it's not or one flaw in the concept GUI, the codeine could be handy... and the coffee... and the "we need a break" from the girlfriend... nvm.

Confirming that I'm working on the update. Ability to change ship slot layout with t3 subsystems is something what wasn't available in EVE before, so EFT and its data architecture were not designed for this. Making it possible requires quite a few rewrites in different parts of code.

On the other hand an EFT that can handle T3 ships would be omfgwhoa so it's totally worth it. Hell I think it'll make T3 production spike up when people try fitting them and see what they can do
