Another for an update, or open-sourcing the whole thing. But still, a great program worthy of all praises. And since it is such a great program, your work will never end, and you have to listen to all us raving loonies screaming for more.

Edited by: Cedric Diggory on 29/08/2007 00:26:47 Whilst I can understand your hesitance to open source the client, would it be possible to release information on how to edit the ship and module data files (if this is even possible)? This would mean that we could all "modify" our versions independently when updates come out, and even attempt such things as modifying the attributes on ships and modules to see how certain changes would effect the balance of the game.
Examples being: Increasing Caldari manouverability Increasing Missile velocity Increasing tracking on Blasters ...and many, many more.
Your tool is such a useful one already, but with a little information like this it would go a long way to show why certain changes would be desirable or otherwise, and would mean that you no longer dreaded patch day any more than the rest of us do

<3 this tool, have an idea though: Resistance profiles for dps calculations, to allow one to easily discover the best ammo for certain targets. This is not so simple to calculate when you factor in ammo that does multiple damage types, drones and split weapon systems.

Great tool! Thank you for making it. I think you miss the Damnation 10% armor HP bonus per cmdship lvl, and only 4 missile slots instead of 5. I hope u will update that.
Keep up the good work!

The dat files not meant to be edited. I use debug version of EFT which gets its data from simple text files and can compile set of .dat files for release version. Of course debug version loads slowly and not supposed for end users. I could introduce some way to edit database but I prefer to develop more usefull features instead.

Wouldn't it be faster, over-all, to use XML files for storage of ship and module data?
Or is that just me. :p

Firstly, thanks a ton for an awesome app. This knocks the wind out of quickfit with ease imho.
Anyhow. No intention of stressing you out or anything, but any ETA on an update that includes Khanid MK2 ship changes?
Thanks and keep up the good work!

very nice tool, much easier to handle then quickfit.
how about you split the data for ships and modules off into a xml file or something, this way you could let other ppl keep the data uptodate and concentrate on new features.
keep up the good work.

Edited by: Zachios Primos on 29/08/2007 16:31:22 Firstly, let me say this is an outstanding app and thank you for spending the time to put this together.
The only suggestion i have, and sorry if this has been mentioned before...too lazy to read through 17 pages, is to be able to turn off modules that are effecting how long the cap will last. perhaps a turn off option on the right click menu (on the fitting window)
Before you all say, "well why not just take off the module", this applies specifically to the mwd so i can see how long my cap will last just running a rep and guns, but still get the -25% to my cap for having the mwd fitted.
edit: spelling

If you mean offlining the module, it is already possible to do that, just CTRL + left click the module in the active / inactive area.
If you right click it, then the module will be overloaded.

I'm such a klutz, didn't think the Khanid MK2 would be under a completely new tab, thought they'd be under the same categories as usual (AF, HAC and so forth). Just noticed this while trying to check that all the ship classes hadn't got their new bonuses for me. Thanks for correcting me, and thanks Gripen again for this awesome app

I really like your application. Too bad it doesn't save my ship fittings or character imports properly.
Could you add the feature "Save As..." or some sort of manual save feature so we know our settings are saved. I lost two excellent ship set-ups and multiple character imports over the last couple of days believing that the application saved my set-ups with every change.
Please save my data.

Oh yeah also Besides the Drone Omnidirectional link issue It would be nice if he allowd us to input Resists in the DPS meter to see what our DPS would be against different Resistences... no i dont wanna do the math myself

Excellent tool. One addition that would be really great would be a third panel in the ship browser underneath the other 2 that displays a spreadsheet view of ships in the branch. If you've ever used ESSDB you'll know what I mean. The spreadsheet view would contain columns for number of high, med, low slots, base velocity, shield resists, armor resists, sig radius etc etc. Such a view would really help in picking out a suitable ship. It would also replace ESSDB which seems to have gone missing I guess this is doable just by opening and comparing lots of ships in seperate ship views but its somehow more awkward and less easy on the eyes.
Another idea - or variation on this would be to add additional columns in the module browser that show relevant information. For example when selecting a laser, show the base dps of the laser next to the fitting requirements.
Anyway keep up the great work - this app is fantastic.

* add gun tracking to the optimal+falloff display * allow drones to be used as projected effects (repair drones, ecm drones, etc)
Overall, an awesome tool that keeps getting better with every release. Many thanks.
