Perhaps in a future version you could introduce the ability to calculate things using all the various combat boosters :D?

I second this.

I also would kill for tech 2 ships to have their tech 1 ship bonus' added to all the calculations... For example, for HACs to have the 5 levels in cruiser added to DPS/Resists/etc.

They already have their bonuses added. Except they've been added as a fixed value (since you need cruiser V to fly the ship anyway) instead of a variable. You'll find this in the faq.txt that comes with the program:
Originally by: EFT FAQ Q: I found that sometimes when I change the skill responsible for the ship bonus nothing changes. A: Some ships require certain skills at level 5 and give bonuses based on such skills. In that case bonuses in EFT will always be like you have this skill at level 5 even if you don't it at all. For example you can't fly any Heavy Assault Ship without having it's race cruiser skill at level 5 so the bonuses those ships get from their cruiser skills will be always like you have this skill at level 5.
By the way Gripen, EFT has incorrect attributes for capacitor flux coils. If I recall correctly, the modules remove a % of your total capacitor, and increase your recharge rate. The current EFT version has the module reduce both total capacitor and recharge rate. Basically the CAPRECHARGE value needs to be positive, not negative. The same problem seems to be present with shield flux coils, but I haven't taken the time to test it.

This happens to me all the time as well. I have to set it manually after every download.
If you use any other program supporting api import (like EveMon), can you check if this skill imported there correctly?
Yes, API import correctly at ineve.net. Note that I have Salvage Drone Operation - this may be causing problems.
I also have Salvage Drone Operation! That sounds like it could be the common thread here.

Nothing wrong with flux coils.

Love ur tool, can I make a suggestion: are you able to add these to the base build so that every one dose not need to do it? http://www.evegeek.com/npc_damage.php as damage profiles, I'm not sure how up to date they are.
I was thinking you could use some this like:
Quote: Serpentis= 0%0%57%43% Core0%0%58%42% Shadow Serpentis0%0%57%43%
becomes these 3 profiles:
Quote: Ser***** Serpentis - Core Serpentis - Shadow (H)
so noobs (like me )would know which is the base & which is the highest types. or as I understand this might be a bit of work, just add one damage profile for each of the races?
thanks heaps, keep up the good work.

What am I doing wrong?

I also get this error. Furthermore, all skills for the character being updated are set to 0.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the recent windows upate.

Edited by: Dr Bernard on 11/01/2008 03:13:11 Edited by: Dr Bernard on 11/01/2008 03:12:24 My initial guess was a missing dll. I ran http://www.dependencywalker.com/ which discovered I had 2 missing dll's msjava.dll and efsadu.sll. I have recently re-installed my machine so it made sense, but having grabbed these dll's off the web I still have no luck.
Perhaps there is another dependency that is being used to parse the xml ?
Or a recent change in the eve api export thats messed up some assumption in the eft parser ?
I noticed also that my skill tree is missing a few branches and quite a few skills. I can list them if that helps.

I haven't read all 41 pages, but i think the general cap recharge is too generous, unless the peak recharge suddenly became 2.5 instead of 2.4. Where did this new number come from?

Parse Error here too when trying to update skills.
Checked the server output and it appears to be pretty much the same XML file as you can export manually anyway. Only difference I can see is that the manual XML has Line breaks after each skill and the server response from the API doesn't.
Looks like the data is getting through fine, just EFT isn't reading it right and on top of that is resetting all the character's skills to 0 to boot (this is what we call 'failing badly' as opposed to 'failing gracefully'. If it kept the skills at least the differences would be minor, or could be manually updated. I'm not manually updating everything though!)
The fact that the Eve API exports the same file as the manual XML output does tend to make one wonder why there Isn't a manual import option, like say for when Eve API breaks or if there's a connection problem.

I also got that error on my home home computer, but at work I have EFT 2.4 and quick import went well, I have updated skills.

I just started getting the parsing error when updating today. It worked fine previously, and no settings changed. Also, I have NOT installed any windows updates, so that is not related. It must be something about the way the EVE servers are sending out the data.
I also considered that maybe I trained some skill it didn't like, but no skills have completed in the time where it worked vs quit working.

Not wanting to spam the topic with more parsing errors but same here. Just got the latest version of EFT to sort out some cmd setups and imported my char and everything is gone.
I'm actually going to have to do some work now. I'm not happy :)

Seems the Errors started to happen after CCP put the Secure Site down, ev. they changed something and gripen didn't got it on track yet?
I'm having the same problem on work as on home computer, quick-import causes an error and all skills are gone.

Maybe it's just me being stupid and missing something, but I swear this is a bug: When fitting a Jaguar, it's meant to get resist bonuses based on your skill level, but regardless of what I set the skill to, there are no resist bonuses being shown. Please fix. |

Hi, I love your program and do use it all the time BUT I have had a lot of issues with it lately : 1. characters (or projected skills for a character) tend to disapear once in a while for no apparent reason . 2. Character window persistently appears half hidden on program exe, forcing me to modify the config.ini every time to be able to access it . 3. and the reason for this post is that today I receive a "parsing error". No way around it that I found yet (I am not great with computers nor is my technical english very good, I do not know "parsing" ), result is I can't import my character in the program. I have modified skills on a blank one to make a few fittings, but it takes forever and might disapear as well...
Is this an issue linked to Windows XP? to this new version of EFT? or am the only one to have that kind of fun?
Please Help!

Edited by: Flying Elvis on 11/01/2008 16:24:50 I did the quick import thing and all my skills were gone as well. Then I went to the program directory and found the character file was there and had my skills in it. I made a duplicate of it, altering the name, restarted the program and when i select my duplicate, it has all my skills again. I think I'll make a copy of this file in another place too ;)
Hope this helps a little :/

I'm receiving the exact same parsing error. I don't think it's the version because I was getting it on 2.3 which is why I upgraded to 2.4.1, and it's the same thing. ==============================
