How much DPS you can tank before actually taking damage.
For example, if you got 50% resistance to EM and a shield booster that heals you for 200 every three seconds, your defence against EM is 133 DPS. Imagine someone shoots at you 250 EM damage every two seconds. That EM will be cut by half (125) because of your resistance. In the third second you'll fully heal his damage because of your booster. In the fourth second you'll take another 125 damage. In the sixth second you'll take 250 damage total and heal 200, getting to a minus 50. Two seconds later you'll take -175, and on the nineth second you'll heal it all back. It will keep going like this, and you'll never die.
You'll stand it up to 265 EM damage/2s. If he breaks to 266, your tank will eventually fail to sustain all the damage, and you will die if you can't kill him first.
On EFT there are two values. One is the sustained defence which is the max. amount of DPS you can tank while not killing your cap recharge. The other is the max you can tank using all your tanking power. A perma-running tank will have both with the same value.

I suggest buying a few ISKs worth of a commodity called 'Patience' on the market (might find cheap offers in Contracts, too). Gripen has usually been pretty quick with updates, but nagging here achieves nothing. Nothing, really.

agreed. but, even a very little bit communication and a sorta "i'm working on it" would be very nice and would stop the next "when ? when ? when ?" posts in advance :p
I think gripen , like almost all other guys in the eve community are waiting for the next version of the database export , then the availability after the export is done is generally quite short. |

Oh Gripen, I'm sure you're working hard on an update. Even though the new faction ships are neat, don't forget to check on the older ships. I've asked for a Pilgrim cpu fix a couple of times already and I'm sure some other ships might need some loving too.

No griping or moaning or pushing. This is the first expansion for me and didn't know if / how the new files are made available.
I have no doubt that the changes are being made and that no one is dragging the heels in the matter - just didn't want to be left in dark so to speak.
Will the changes, when available, be posted in this thread? or will it be an edit to the first comment of this thread? or will it be on a web page somewhere (read all the problems with viruses and such).

He always posts new versions in the edited first post. Usually fairly quickly after major patches. I would start looking for the update soon.
Oh since I've never said anything before, thank you VERY much for this program. My little circle of friends think I'm a God for supplying them with the fits they want to destroy things =)

I've had some problem with EFT, and I just can't use it any more. Every time I open it on vista it blue screens my whole machine. I am a windows programmer so I have gone through all the usual steps to get it working, but it's a persistent bug. Obviously this isn't solely EFTs fault, I have a particular combination of mbrd/gfx card that causes nvidia drivers to become massively unstable, but they were running quite nicely till I ran EFT. Would you like the debug information or stack trace for the crash?

If it's a blue screen , EFT can't be the cause of it , only a trigger. btw , windows will generally give you the information about the context of a bluescreen in a dump file and microsoft have made available some tools to check which file caused the problem, and it's surely the nVidia driver, or perhaps your system memory or your hard drive (quick guessing : defective blocks where EFT is installed on the hard drive > corrupted exe > bad information given to the API or GUI > blue screen caused by the driver). In many cases , reading the STOP error number and the error type (I.e : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) is sufficient to quickly find where the problem is. there are as well a series of 4 numbers inside parenthesis on the bottom of the bluescreen information, write them down and do a google.
