Well I just scanned this zip file and here is what fprot seems to report : [Found possible virus] <W32/Infostealer.A!Maximus (not disinfectable)> ./EFT2.8.1.zip->EFT.exe

It was scanned with 35 different virus scanners at www.virustotal.com. It's no false alarm.
Google InfoStealer and read up on this trojan yourself. Get some brain with you.
This guy should be banned.
The devs know account hacking is on the rise. They think it's from an ISK website. It's probably this program.

Have just downloaded EFT2.8.1.zip from eve-files.com. According to my antivirus, this archieve is clear.

Open your EFT directory and delete the folder named "/Data" then rename the folder "/DataDir Data_SpeedPatch" to "/Data".
This adds the speed changes, but doesn't have the new rig stacking or missile formula changes incorporated. We have to wait on Gripen giving us a new version of EFT for that.

Yeah I think there are some false positives showing up. I went to my registry looking for the telltale entries that come with the infostealer trojan and I can't find them. I've had false positives on commercial games before, it does happen.

It's just a false positive.
Virustotal scan of EFT2.8.1.zip
F-Prot and 1 other AV shows the same result, all others reports clean.
Result: 2/34 (5.88%)

Ok ppl im starting a fund raiser for EFT, All iskies sent to me i will match and forward accordingly. Will only match isk donations above 10 million. All donations will be highly appreciated and sorted out quickly towards getting EFT up and going :)

I can with relative certainty state that it's not. Try using wine or even bootcamp and a tiny xp install. Or any alternative fitter such as quickfit(granted it may be a tad outdated).

scammers post on alts, and try to hide their identity. I was really bored at work and thought it was funny following up the previous post. Also know that anyone with a brain wouldnt actually go for that, and the smiley at the end should have sorted any thoughts otherwise. In short i am not a scammer, But this is a great service and if any would have sent isk i would have matched and sent to the correct guy (even though he is a bloody red) So just to straighten matters up, there u go.

Im having issues trying to extract the files from the 2.8.1 zip, windows explorer keeps stopping crashing part way through. Also does the same with winzip. Anyone got any ideas? (using vista home premium 32) other than 'dont use vista' |

I think I have to add my name to the list, and say that I'm eagerly awaiting an EFT update that has all the QR changes to it.
EFT has saved many hours (and shedloads of isk) fart-arsing around with setups, great work Gripen !

Is this the only forum for EFT and have there been any News Updates concerning work on updating EFT to accomodate for the new Quantum Rise Patch in Eve? I went back a few pages and I haven't seen any tidbits explaining the enormouse amount of work I'm sure that's involved in overhauling missile states, hardwire placements, speed related modules and ship speeds and sig radius and bonus changes and yada yada. It'd be nice to hear from him and get an update on the upcoming update. :P |

Best way to tell is to check the OP and see if the edit date time stamp changed... and if theres any mention of QR...
Otherwise theres been no changes...and yes.. this seems to be it as far as EFT news. |

Well I figured I'd add my support for EFT, My work day has been much more boring lately  otherwise keep up the good work Gripen!!!
p.s. if Gripen could give us a prospective date for release I think it'd quiet down a lot of complaints on here or even just a message that he was working on it (which im sure he is) would be great.

Why Gripen doesn't say anything about the future update? There will still be one? Im not giving isk in advance...
By the way, having EFT before your enemies, right after a great update like this one is a good advantage IMO... |
