After a quick try:
Character import using Eve API - nice Missing some modules - not cool The fittings window autoclosing every friggin time you d'n'd a module to ship view - EXTREMELY ANNOYING
Otherwise very promising app.

Looks promising, but there are tons to improve. I personally like the fact that its not java, but from what I can tell.. object pascal? What I miss the most are options and extra functions wich for example Quickfit yields.
I dont want the menu to the right to auto-hide, I want to be able to import from .xml, I want to fit a module by doubleclicking it and so on and so forth.

There is a lock button on the upper part of fitting panel. I think I'll make it locked by default because it looks like no one use this feature except me.
Originally by: NoNah I personally like the fact that its not java, but from what I can tell.. Delphi?
Yes it is.
Originally by: NoNah - Doubleclicking should fit the module - not display info(A window wich can be greatly improved in its design btw).
There can be multiple opened setup windows and no way to tell where to fit module by double-click.
Originally by: NoNah - Love the fact that you added cap per second as a value right away, but would you please add the recharge time and such as secondary information aswell?
This information displayed in the tooltip of capacitor volume.
Originally by: NoNah - There are two values called defence? What does those mean? Same thing with Firepower?
Firepower section shows DPS and Volley damage. Volley damage shown only for turrets or missiles or smartbombs, not altogether.
Defence and effective HP are terms that really need to be explained. Effective HP is your hitpoints with resistances taken into account. Defence is amount of DPS setup can tank. Bottom value is your tanking efficiency when you run your booster\repairer on autorepeat and upper value is your tanking efficiency when you turn on your booster\repairer from time to time to not allow your capacitor to fall below peek recharge point.

This program just cost me a fully fit rigged raven :(
I warped to a belt, and then saw that my download was finished for EFT so I started checking it out and completely forgot that I was sitting in a 0.0 belt.
When I came back I was in a pod next to my wreck :(
Good program though :)

Good point, but I would still like the info window redesigned. Perhaps it could be solved by sending the module to the last window active? Yes, it will still end up in a "random"(top?) slot, but it can easily be moved there and it doesnt really matter anyway.
Oh, and the option to import through .xml would be great. This is probably due to my "windowmanager" but the buttons are unreadable when pressed. Might be quite an undertaking, but adding a ew-calculator would be sweet aswell. Hows the accurasy, have you spent the time getting exact figures to everything such as peak recharge?

Wow. I used this once after I saw your post, and I'll have to play with it more, but thus far I much prefer it to QuickFit...Much shorter startup time. A prettier interface and I prefer the functionality of the interface with Drag and Drop module fuitting, the much less cluttered feel and look of the relevant information, and not to mention the wonderful images that make it much easier to simply glance at the statistics for this fit, and get the immediate picture (Again preferable to tabbing through multiple windows to find my optimal/RoF/Damage mod and then back to see how Change X affected Stat Y in Manner Z....) and the multiple ship-fitting windows is incredible. I LOVE the import functionality, now I'm no longer repeatedly saving XML files from EveMon (Not a HUGE hassle, but definitely nice when I realize I have to update :D)
A few things I see that can be improve (IMO): --The 'info box' that pops up when I hover my cursor over a specific area (Defense, firepower, etc.) should be a part of that display, instead of just a fleeting tooltip. --A quick name-change of all the faction ammos so the two equivilant factions are represented (Serpentis/Guristas for hybrid ammo, for instance.) --A damage breakdown by TYPE as well as drones/guns.
And more as I think of them.

Nice tool! With a few tweaks I'd use this over QF in a second.
1) The double click to fit a module is needed, tbh. Alot of people have vast screen real estate these days, and traveling all over the place with the same module gets tedious. Yes you can have many windows open, but just have an 'ActiveWindow' switch that sends the double-clicked module to the active window.
2) Needs a few buttons for the skills, I'd recommend "Max All Relevant Skills", "Set Required Skills to Minimum" and "Set All Skills to Maximum". You've done alot of the hard work by determining what skills affect what modules (love it, absolutely love it) just take that a step further with the first one. The second is easy, just set it all to the minimum requirements. The last is obvious.
3) I don't know if this is a thing with your code, or Delphi as a whole, but when I right click something I want the focus to move to that and then the right click take place, not the right click taking place on the previously highlighted option.
4) I'd love to see a panel at the right to match the panel at the left, purely for the character. The top panel could contain the information currently in the Character Editor window, and the bottom panel could have a number of tabs listing skills required for currently selected fit etc (again, this would tie in easier with an 'ActiveWindow' switch).
5) I'd like a pop-up over all loaded modules with the information about the module, instead of having to open up another window (that doesn't update when something changes). A bit like you have for the icons on the right of the setup window.
Overall, this is a top class program for it's purpose. Yes, you're missing modules (which could easily be compensated for by using the DB dumps from the game itself and having the program interact with those), and it doesn't have some of the functionality of QF, but it's so, so, so much faster than QF, and that's what does it for me.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that given the speed and layout, this is the best base I've seen so far for a fully integrated eve tool, with skills, setups, and performance of setups, all in one. So much so that I'd love to help out if you need help, especially if you take it down the integrated route (never done Delphi, but I know my programming).
One final thing though - as it's so early in testing, any chance you could build it up for a cross-platform user? Even if it's with Cedega/Wine/Mono/Crossover, whatever, it would be nice to have that (I don't know much about cross-platform Delphi, I'm afraid)

Out of curiosity (not that its incredibly important), can the statistics on the items be user edited or user added?
I've had occassion to .. erm, hack on certain similar applications to see the results of certain ideas - and it was useful. I'll definitely give this a shot once I get back home.
Anyone out there vouch for its accuracy?

Edited by: Igus on 02/07/2007 19:28:32 Great tool!
Suggestions I would make, hopefully I haven't missed a way to do this already. - Provide a method to export your saved setups to file. - Provide a menu option to easily lookup all you loadouts at once, instead of having to look at the ships menu tree. - On open, automatically load last ship loadouts that were open at the close of the previous session. - A toolbar, or window menu item list to list all open windows, or just all open loadouts. ie similar to the way mirc lists its open channels at the top of the window. - Dock/anchor the equipment window by default.
Few things that would be cool to have. - If at all possible, use the same export file format at Quickfit. - Provide a way to import Quickfit loadouts.
*edit*: Didn't see each ship type has its own data file for loadouts, It would be great if it were possible to export a individual ship loadout.
-- *snip* Your signature exceeds the maximum filesize (24,000bytes) and also the signature dimensions 400x120 pixels -TheDagda ([email protected]) |

I disabled such option. CCP are going to remove ability to export XML soon so only valid way to get your skills would be through API.
Originally by: NoNah Might be quite an undertaking, but adding a ew-calculator would be sweet aswell.
There is ew-calculator. Press "Projected Effects" button and drag modules there from fitting panel (won't take skills into account) or from another opened setup window. On the screenshot in first post you can see Curse dampening and nossing Zealot. For jammers chance to jam will be shown in caption of "Targeting" box.
Originally by: Redora A quick name-change of all the faction ammos so the two equivilant factions are represented (Serpentis/Guristas for hybrid ammo, for instance.)
I specifically excluded half of faction ammo because they have same stats as the other half and would just overcrowd menu.

Faction/Complex/Officer mods are all in there. There's 4 buttons in the bottom left corner to switch from Market to Faction/Complex/Officer. (4 groups total.)

While this is true, there are still quite a few .xml's around, and EVEMon for example allows you to export them - wich allows you to calculate on future setups much easier. No biggie, but I find it handy. Also gives you the option of testing with max skills easily.

Thats also true, however its a defensive and not offensive, Id like to see the modified stats of each and every one of the damps fitted(thus including skills), and the total effect of them all used - with stacking penalties etc.
Then again that might just be beacuse I dont understand. No clue how to make one ships effects appear on the other, without simulating it(IE using twice as many noses as the curse can actually fit due to a 100% bonus).
Really dont mean to complain or be negative, I like the app, and I will be using it, though in my world - the more stats the better. Just chime if you want me to stop whining. =)

Also did i told already how much i love this tanking calculator ? :D
Also it don't save drones into ship setups :( ---

Lovely looking tool.
But I'm having a few problems.
Im using windows Vista (laptop came with it, sucks tbh) and I dont see the fitting panel.
I can turn it on and off, but othing appears except a slim empty bar at the left side of the proggy.
Is this a windows Vista issue? Or am I doing something noobish xD.
Thanks, X

Move your mouse to that little bar that pops up and hover over it. It should expand. Closes itself again when the mouse leaves it though. But, theres a little 'Lock' button in the top of said Module screen which is quite handy.

Open Curse. Fit it with nos. Open another ship which will be the target. Open "projected effects" on target setup. Drag nos from curse module list to target's projected effects. That way all bonuses will apply. If you do this with dampeners or tracking disruptors they will be stacking penalized.

I've had a problem when panel just don't show up as a result of program crash. You can try to delete config.ini in program directory and thus reset all settings. If this does not help then it may be a Vista what causing problem. You also may try to edit config.ini and change FittingPanel_Locked=0 to FittingPanel_Locked=1.
