Edited by: Neo Providence on 21/10/2007 23:44:46 the website and the game is not on the same server. But the last few days, both have been a little screwy. so try back again later or reinstall the game
anyway, i think someone said the connection view eve as a p2p and bittorrent is a p2p, so dunno what is the connection. but as long as it work, i'm happy. and i'm just dieing to just spread the word. hehe bittorrent rocks. Hehehehe you don't even need to download anything, just have it on would be enoughn. hehe, lalala so have anyone else tried it except Melissa?

temp solution, and it works. I've been downloading anime from bittorrent for the last couple of days, and i find that when ever i have bittorrent on, i don't get dropped. It works cuz i made 10 round trips to jita and i still didn't get dropped. and when i exit bittorent (cuz i finish the downloads) i get dropped again. but someone else try it, and download stuff (anime and ****) using bittorent, and see does it work for you. hehe so happy i found out it works for me.
Just an observation but have you checked if your modem/router is set to drop the line when the connection is idle. I've come across routers that default to disconnecting after only 1 minute idle but they can usually be disabled.
I've also come across ISPs that automatically close idle connections. It's usually the smaller ones with a limited pool of IP addresses.
The only times I've suffered from disconnections not related to server issues, it has alway been the router dropping the connection usually due to excessive noise on the line when the street lights come on in the evening.

If you want a friendly advice: stop messing up your PC/router configs, it's hopeless.
I tried everything on my side and it's still booting me.
The only program/server I have problems with is EVE-online server and that's since their latest major patch in late august. Conncidence??? I doubt it.
They added some crazy idle/timeout line somewhere and it doesn't seem like they're gonna admit it.
Best thing is to keep posting on this thread if you're having problems and keep it at the top of threads to remind them and newcomers that there is a problem they need to fix.

Getting constant timeouts now - every 30 seconds or so... not good :| BT in London, England here, and yes everything else runs fine...

Edited by: Neo Providence on 23/10/2007 00:24:52 i stopped messing arounf with the router. Will be the end of you. trust me. But I'm still good on the bittorrent thing. try downloading one movie file, and let ppl download it from you. i think as long as the connection is open, you won't get drop.

Ok, so, it's not so perfect a solution for me, but after a couple of days observation, the Bittorrent thing definately helps, but when it wants to be bad, there doesn't seem much will stop it.

Yeah somewhere in their code they decided to shorten the idle period and cut connections for idle users or something because nothing on my end has changed in ages and since that update near the end of august or the patch in early September I have been getting "Lost Connection" messages pretty frequently.
The part I don't get is that it doesn't effect all users, so its likely that the users with trouble either have more hops to get to the EVE server or there is a hop along the route that is slowing them down enough for EVE to lose connection.

So you think your issue might have been your network card?

I hear ya, it as been ****ing me off for about 2 months now, it makes mining pretty difficult as I tend to lose connection during my cycles and such but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a resolve.
I was hoping this new port thing might help somehow but it doesn't appear to be helping, my next step is to try a new network card like somebody mentioned just to rule that out.

Like I said, problems are on server side, not client side.

Oh the problem is 99% likely teh server side since everything else runs smoothly and I have no issues accessing the net or other internet apps and games, the part that really gets me is that no matter how often I petition or file a bug report about the issue including all the steps I ahve taken and such all I get back is problem not replicatable.
I have a nice long list of things I have tried, with everything I try it just more and more points to CCP and their servers / client, the crappy part is that they are unlikely to do anything as it doesn't effect enough users.
Though I would be eternally grateful if they could stop my client from Losing connection every little bit, for now I just keep hoping that with every patch I just might wind up with the issue fixed.

out of interest, can you guys check whether your connection latency comes up as 'Interleaved' or 'fast'? It should be in your ASDL details, I had mine upgraded to fast and it's been fine since.

I just want to tell ppl that evertime I try to do something that has a heavy load on my connection usually means I cant connect to EVE or the other doesn't work well. Just depends on witch program was turned on first , like using Azureus Vuze or watching stream while playing EVE, the stream usualy stops in the middle.
This all started about few weeks ago, hope it helps.

I've had this problem for 7 days now. It happens randomly; client stops responding, I open a window (wallet or other) and I get Client disconnected blah blah blah.
I'm from Canada, Quebec and my ISP is videotron. No idea of whats going on but I doubt its on my end.

I started noticing the random disconnects as well about 2 weeks ago. I started doing traceroutes and found a router on the 13th hop was dropping packets. This is one of the lvl3 new york routers ( if you believe the dns names ) just before the london lvl 3 router.
Strange thing is, when the new york router replies, its a low latency reply ( roughly 45ms ). I'd think it would be a hi latency reply if it were having trouble, but then again I'm not a network guru. You might want to try tracerouting tranquility when you have troubles to see if one of the routers between you and tranquility will be dropping packets.
If you find a router along the way to tranquility dropping packets, no amount of fussing with your connection/PC/router will change anything.
Also, CCP knows about this particular issue. They posted some time ago about running ping plotter when you are having trouble and handing them the results. They were trying to get in contact with the offending router owners to see if they could get this fixed for us. Good luck with that though.

Victoria, do you mean you get disconnected once a night every night?
If so it's more likely you have a floating IP and you need to contact your ISP for a fixed addess. Connections using floating IP disconnect/reconnect every 12 or 24 hours when the assigned IP's validation runs out. Your ISP can tell you more.
(yes, I had this trouble once)

Still having problems. I've cancelled my accounts. It's a disgrace.
ITs's only Eve that disconnects. Everything else works fine.

I am hoping that if I post here enough that some CCP dev or network guru might take pity on me and look into my matter as to why the eve client likes to crash to desktop and give me the "Lost Connection" window at seemingly random intervals.
Once again I have done just about everything under the sun switching out hardware, reformatting and other tin foil hat theories and I am no closer to maintaining a consistent connection to eve. Even if I could get it to the point of just disconnecting every hour or two I would be a happy camper but thats reaching right now by a long shot.
Could maybe someone at CCP adjust the time out interval or just watch my account's activity for a couple days so they could pin point the problem, I'll even bribe you with coffe, donuts or beer.

I have had the same problem for the past week. I just hooked up with att. Much slower connection than what I had prior. Happens on my desktop(wired) and on my laptop(wireless). Disco's at random times. Have run the torrent with little change. Only happens with this game.

This problem has been ailing a lot of us for the last month or so. CCP, please tell us something. You guys fixed some people's problems with the new port idea, but a lot of us still get randomly disconnected from Eve.
Give us some kind of hope you are going to fix it, or that you believe us and aren't just writing this off as mass hysteria!
