See CCP has learned something from M$...nothing wrong here it is your problem, PC manufactureer, video card, sound card, software.
But never, never CCP/M$'s fault.
Bitter? Yes! Would like to hear some common sense statement from CCP, NOT it is all of a suddenly my cable provdier. I have been playing since 2003 and I have just now strated to have this problem.
And I only started having this problem after CCP's last patch! So please look to see what you screwed up in the code!!!
Move along nothing to see here, yes I am a ALT Just portecting my main.

First, just want say a thank you to Shogun Moto for his effort though I don't agree with his "blame ISP, not CCP" approach. IMHO what he is doing here, CCP should do. No matter what caused the troubles - patch or traffic filtering, CCP must find solution, CCP must act. Is there any hope that service providers around the globe would change anything just because one, two or five hundred customers cannot play eve-online? ...I don't think so. I sent petition to my ISP and you know what? ...no response, it must be some kind of new CRM... I did everything I could for my part, I sent petitions, uploaded pingplotter reports, contacted my ISP, In fact there are only two questions: 1) Is the game I pay for playable? No. 2) Can I fix it myself? No.
I give up.
My eve subscription expires in early December.

Let me clear a few things up for everyone, I understand a lot of you are frustrated as would I but I assure you that this issue is being looked into.
Now onto what I did and did not say. I did NOT blame ISPÆs what I said was that æwe believeÆ the issue lyeÆs with the ISP. The C++ Runtime error that everyone is seeing is caused WHEN the connection drops and is not the cause of the drop.
Right now the investigation that the Bug Hunter has done is limited to the tools and access available to us as volunteers. We have compiled our report and QA will look at it shortly for further investigation.
I do apologise for the issues you guys have been having but as I am not a paid employee I cannot give you any official answer on this issue at present. I will however see what I can do about getting someone to respond to this thread.

I have also been getting this Microsoft C++ error after crashing. I have been playing the game for almost 2 years on this same comp with the same ISP with NO problems. After the latest patch I can not maintain my connection for more than 10 mins without getting kicked and getting the C++ error message. I have cleared cache, I have wiped and redownloaded and reinstalled the game. I have verified with my ISP that there have been no changes in my type of connection, speed or anything else. I have even done diagnostic searches on my comp and nothing has changed. And no I have no type of firewall runnning!
So of the 3 possibilities the problem can arise from I have ruled out the comp and the ISP. That leaves something with the game. I hope CCP can locate and fix this bug soon.

Hi,
with this ongoing Issue it gets even more interesting if CCP will provide a compensation. From my point of view so far I could "test" the game 2 days out of the 7 allready passed by from the test period. Thats like 28% Service delivery.
I would expect an honest, decent excuse from CCP and the offer to extend the Testperiod by one or two weeks.
In Case of the Fellows that are paying hard earned money for this Service it is of course different. I am not a legal expert, and I am not sure to wich law CCP is bound (US/UK/EU) but I think that you are liable to an compensation as you payed for a service that could not be used, for what you are certainly not responsible.
Even if there should rearly be no means to force them legaly (I am pretty sure European Law covers customer rights in this point) it would be just fair if they would grant compansation on their own.
I am pretty exited about the game and I would get an account. But with the technical problem it does not make any sense to pay for it, and even without CCPs Customer service is a shame.
In regards to the Support of M$: I am working in the MS Support myself and we would have a response time of max. 4 business hours in a Case like this. These are the Support Contracts our Customers are paying for.
Just my two cent Regards Zarox

I wish CCP would just look at my problem, and tell me 'its your computer' or what. I'm sitting around going 'should I reinstall windows?' because they can't tell me a thing. If I log in my alt, because I docked on them..log in connection lost crap..

Edited by: Shogun Moto on 23/11/2007 07:18:18 First the bad news, changing (lowering) the MTU is not solving the problem.
But I can tell you, using a VPN tunnel to bypass whatever happens between my isp and the carrier works very good. I am really sorry that this is not an easy to accomplish workaround.
I am currently out of ideas on "what you can do" to fix it.
And just for info, things that don't help are:
Cleaning Cache Reinstalling EVE Updating all your drivers Changing you PC Reinstalling Windows Running EVE on Linux
This problem can only be solved using a non-cable internet provider ... or a vpn tunnel to non cable machine.

Have you tried MTU=256 RWIN<64k ? I got some improvement using it ... at least not crashing so often when running 3 clients.

I would guess 85 to 90 % of the players use cable. This only started after the last CCP patch ( at least that is when I strated have the problem). So I guess CCP better find a fix and fast. Again just my 2 cents. ( and since I am in the USA, guess it isn't worth much today. PROMISES MADE > PROMISES KEPT SO SAY WE ALL

Still no official statement. This is just plain silly. There really is no excuse for the lack of response. Trinity or no trinity. Common decency alone would dictate that someone at CCP would have given us some official word.
With Trinity being the main focus, looks like this problem is pretty low on their priorities. Well my subscription runs out in a few days, no prizes for guessing whether it'll be renewed or not...

Edited by: Sinistro on 23/11/2007 15:20:50 I have a normal adsl connection and I have these runtime error also. Its nothing to do with the connection, when I started to get this problem I did what a some one said in help channel and that is to get latest drivers. Wel i did that I formatted my pc, re installed xp upgrade bios, chipset, latest sound and graphic drivers and a downloaded a new eve client and it worked for 4 hours more or les and then again these crashes. After the first crash the became more frequent and now I can stay ingame a bit when I stay docked, but when I open any screen or try to undock, it crashes.
So I toke my old pc, placed it next to the one where I have the problems on and there I run on perfect, no crashes at all, so its not a connection problem.
The pc where I have the crashes is a amd atlon 64 dualcore 3800+ with 2 nvidia 7600gt sli graphic cards and the pc that does not crash is an P4 3200 HT with 1 6600gt graphic, both pc's 2 gb ram. So maybe the problem lies on the dualcores and the current eve client.
I hope that with the comming upgrade this problem is solved because playing like this on my gamer pc aint posible atm.

Same thing (random disconnects, Runtime errors, warp lag etc.). Think we should start using what tools we got to help devs on this. Soooo...
Control Panel-> Administrative tools-> Computer Management->Event Viewer-> search the errors (should have exefile.exe written in description)
Start LogServer , connect, stay a while, and after a few d/c/connects, save Workspace.
Do not delete dump crash files (found in CCP/EVE/settings or somewhere).
Archive, submit bug.
Btw, read some of the messages shown in LogServer... some are actually funny :D (I'm using some funny ones also, programmer here)

Edited by: m17624 on 23/11/2007 19:21:11 Some good news guys!I got a reply to my petition first off they apologized for their time taking to reply, This isn't guaranteed to work but its a start to see if NTL is the problem heres what is said in the message
Hello,
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delayed reply.
If you could try the following and see if this eases the problems in case NTL took some measures on Port 26000:
1. locate the prefs.ini file. You can find this in the settings subfolder in the following location:
"%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE" if you are on an english Windows 2000/XP (the path names are translated in other languages) and "%LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE" on Windows Vista
You may not be able to properly locate their parent folders as Windows is hiding them by default.
To properly locate them, either just copy the path into the explorers adress bar, or go to the "tools" menu, then "folder options" in your explorer browsing window. There, please look for "view" and in "hidden files and folders", please select "show hidden files and folders".
2. add the following line to the file and save it: networkAdvanced=1
3. If you start EVE now, you can enter a different port to connect to. Enter 3024 and connect.
Please let us know if the issue still persists then.
Best regards,
(I removed the GM's name) EVE Online Customer Support

"The pc where I have the crashes is a amd atlon 64 dualcore 3800+ with 2 nvidia 7600gt sli graphic cards"
Funny you mention that since my computer is an amd athlon 6 x2 dual core 4600+ with nvidia 7950 gt sli as well, and have been having disconnects since Nov 13th.
I don't believe this is an isp issue, since there are so many people on varied ISP's (I am with xplornet satellite for eg, and I seriously doubt anyone else is stupid enough to use them)
I have tried
clearing cache reinstalling eve using/disabling linksys router port change to 3724
it's been 10 days now, and the longest I can stay online for is about 10 mins. (even with activity). Will try hooking up laptop I guess.

I have been out of game for a few weeks. I crash only when I am IN-STATION, i undock and fly all over the galaxy. But when I enter any station, within minutes I CTD. I have written a petition, meh! Do ya think the next patch or whatever "Trinity" will solve the problem? Best thing coming out of all this downtime in EVE is that I'm getting a new gaming machine.

its not connection problem, if it was then my P4 3200, connected on the same router should drop also, and that one is as steady as a rock.

Its second weekend without play :( Missions are gone, standings are lost, money are lost. Disconects every few minuts.
After 5 days (18-11-2007) i had answer on my petition: "This is a known problem that the developers are working on a fix for, hopefully they'll have it released as soon as possible."
I have UPC cable connection (Poland). Many people still playing, im very interested where is the reason.

Just a note: this problem is far more widespread than it seems. In my guild, more than 2/3 are affected and even those who can play have no one to play with.
