yeah... I just got disconnected. bleh. Lowering the MTU might not work, unless I still got fragmented packets. Then again, there's a limit to lowering it.

My friend had a poor network connexion (packet loss). He can't get a better one, no other company in his area give broadband.
This connexion problem EXIST since the end of august when they patch.
Did they "increase" VIVOX voice quality to be clear, but since people already have problem with theyr connexion they now have more bandwith stress ?
Who are the people that meet the folowing criteria: -Disconnecting since end of AUGUST patch -Have vivox enable -If you were working fine before AUGUST patch.
-This is NOT RELATED to GAME CRASH, but CONNEXION LOSS.
IF you client can't pass character loading (you can enter in station / space). Then you can call it CTD (Crash to Desktop).
Otherwise, if you play during your internet peak time (5-7h PM) and you lost connexion with server after passing the station / space it is a CONNEXION LOSS problem.

I have been getting the exact same disconnect problems as most of the ppl in this thread.
Today I cant stay online for more than 5 minutes. Sometimes it wont even log in completely before I disconnect.
This never happened before August, so what did CCP change on the server??
Also, occasionally I get a C++ error when this happens, but not every time.

Edited by: Murder Love on 10/11/2007 20:37:41 After getting d/c for a few hours I tried lowering my MTU to 1200(on my router). I have been online without any disconnects for about 2 hours since I changed it. Could be a fluke =P

well I can't see how to change the MTU on router and I am not going to edit my registry to play a game. I have never had to do this before and even if people says its working that sounds like a problem with CCP and it BS if you ask me.

2 disconnects in the last 30 minutes, evemon reports that tranquility is offline. after 30-60 seconds i can reconnect and evemon reports tranquility is online now. there is no internet connection drop because other things linke icq, teamspeak, ventrilo and filesharing tools work fine during eve disconnects.

Well, I finally got it sorted out!
I tried restarting everything that had to do with my connection... Nothing happened.
Then I changed my IP from static (which it's always been) to automatically assigned, and voila! Eve ran perfectly for 6 hours straight yesterday!

This has been happening all morning. About every 5 minutes or so. Very annoying. I am not static IP assigned on my network, so that's not my issue. Everything else functioning great...just not EVE.

It's been happening every hour or so for the past 5 hours. Not sure what is up, but I can tell you, it's not your computer nor your ISP.

I am having the the same issues and have read all pages, looking for concrete direction of how to fix or what the problem might be from CCP. I have seen suggestion for using other software or to look into certain logs etc. The problem with these approaches is i am not a computer Tech and therefore don't have the foggiest idea how to fill out a bug petition and quite honestly i can't be bothered. Also, i run 2 new super gaming computers, so i know it ain't them causing the problem. I own 5 accounts and do my part in helping CCP to find and fix these problems by paying my monthly EVE bills. I can't mine since 2.2 because my main (my tank) crashes and it leaves my hulks naked and out in the open with no protection...i am not loosing ships over this. I wonder when CCP will post that they are aware, and that they are attempting to find a solution???? so here is one more post to help continue to help complete page 14 of all these posts. Can CCP DO SOMETHING or SAY SOMETHING other than send bug reports (cause it is clear others have sent em already and nothing or anything is happening. Ugh...this is just brutal. Totally unplayable in this state. If it's not the connection lost error, it's the C++ error. And to think I just reactivated after over a year? I come back to this???
Things I have tried.
1. Re-installed 2. Uninstalled, wiped folder, re-installed 3. Re-installed Sound & Video drivers 4. DHCP to Static...and back
Nothing is stopping the disconnects. EVE is the only game I have problems with staying connected with. I hope the devs are listening.

Anyway, I think I found my problem, after looking at This thread, I changed my router's MTU from 1500 and 1300 and haven't had a disconnect in 2 hours. Previous to changing my MTU, I had 2 disconnects within a 5 minutes period.
I think I also know another way of fixing the problem. If I keep my router's MTU to 1500 but disable the Wireless Radio, I'm pretty sure I won't have any disconnections.
I wonder if somehow, with a MTU of 1500 and Wireless Radio enabled, the packets my router sends get fragmented. From the thread I linked, it appears that the CCP server(proxy?) might be blocking/dropping fragmented packets.
Thats my findings, so maybe, just maybe the problem lies between our routers and CCP's proxy?
I might have found my fix in this paragraph. I have a DLINK-624 router and I went on this poster's hunch of disabling the wireless radio in my router. For the first time in 2 days I could play longer than 5 minutes. Did 2 missions...no disconnects. Have to test longer, but his theory about packet fragmentation might be true. I'll follow up later if I manage to not see the problem for a bit.

Following up on my own post. I indeed solved my problem by disabling my router wireless antenna. If I re-enable it...disconnects like crazy....if I disable it, Eve runs perfect. That's really an odd issue for sure. Just glad it seems to be fixed now.

I'm kind-of a techno'tard, so I'm gonna have to muddle through to adjust my router settings (not at home right now). I'm glad there are people out there more computer-savvy than I, or these things might NEVER get fixed. Thanks for sharing, all.

wow this is crap. Still happening, less frequent now that I am using my mac wireless instead of my PC wired.
played last night all night on my pvp account no problems. try and get a agent mission done before work and crashed with the c++ error 3 times so far. it really seems to do with higher traffic areas for me.
I have notice like most. if the lag appears (missiles stop shooting) I open the market and my char sheet and that is normally enough to kick start it and not loose connection. but sometimes not. Infact i notice i get the c+= more if i try and open every window when its lagging.
hahah happen again right as i am writing this
again I can't stress tis hasn't happen before the last patch.

ok so i sat staring at the monitor while this was happening and i see that the packet out starts dropping off as time goes on. once the packets out drop to 1-5 every 1 min then the packets in start stopping and you experience lag. at this point if you don't open the market or the mini map or anything that sends data to the server you will lose connection.
I took a series of snapshots and put them together in a long vertical .jpg to illustrate this. if anyone else can do the same we can see if its the same problem

I think the same thing is happening to me Vash. I am mining and I start to notice that when I activate my Survey Scanner, it takes 30+ seconds for the window to pop up... If I open the market window I also notice it will take 30 seconds (sometimes an entire 5!!!! minutes) for the market window to pop up and then EVERYTHING will catch up. I will get 5 minutes of chat all scroll in at once, 5 minutes of UI actions all come in at once, etc. Usually if I notice the lag early enough and open market/character/etc. then I won't disconnect, but if I don't notice it early enough I will disconnect.
