I have a theory about goon behavior. DISCLAIMER: I might be wrong, I have been wrong before. Theory: I think that goonswarm puts up this front of "not caring, gun slinging, crap compactors" so that those in the eve community will not take them seriously as a whole. Maybe they figure that they wont be viewed as a threat until its too late. I remember before the whole great war started, they were recruiting pretty much anyone. Thats how they were looked at, "oh they take anyone, they must suck". Now people are eating their words, and so that the community will keep underestimating them, they come off as ridiculous. Now for the whole Great War discussion, I believe that when BoB started making a serious claim that they "wanted to own all 0.0" that many people took offense to this. Who the hell wants to pay rent to some face overlord for ratting or mining in a system literally across the universe. Of course when people take offense some people turn and whine to their friends and some make a plan. They made a plan, Red Alliance made a plan and so did many other corporations and alliances. Now that the "plan" is giving fruit, it would be self defeating to just leave it to grow on its own. If anyone wanted to completely defeat someone they would do well to take a lesson from the Roman Empire. You must completely annihilate everything the opposition has, brick by brick. You must salt the earth so that nothing will every grow there again, you must erase their name from the history books. Like I said, i could be wrong, and I probably am. They might be insanely ******** and have no direction whatsoever, or they might be acting in subterfuge. Oh and these thoughts are completely my own and have no reflection on what others in my corporation or alliance may think. Their thoughts are their own.

Shortly after the jews blew up the world trade center members of the somethingawful.com gaming community accidentally knocked offline one of the biggest russian money laundering scams on the internet in a misguided fursecution attempt. In order to prevent retribution, these goons were told to make reparations. The most enterprising of them all, Remedial, vowed to harness the untapped potential of thousands of pepsi-swilling goons locked at home in basements expending thousands of untold hours playing MMO's. He ended up building goonfleet and after paying off his russian antagonists, became business partners with them as they realized the untapped profit potential in the natural resources of goon gamers. Ultimately the nerfing of complexes as well as the impending purges of developer kickbacks goonfleet had enjoyed before the internal affairs division was created caused Remedial to cash out, leaving us where we are today.

The thing atm, however, is that GS has so many various corps in it, it is not just goons. I've noticed that a big number of "hurt" ex carebear corps, mainly from ascn, have joined them too. I do not agree with you that goons will disband, that is what they would like everyone to think, they'll find excuses to go after people who've "hurt" them or "made them the monsters they are". It is pointless to generalize goons in all fairness, but TBH it might be wise if you seek to avoid members with the attitude you describe.

We are all SA goons in T1 frigs that do not know what the fuck. We spew out hurr* and fofo in local. I accidentally self destructed my frigate when I tried to tackle a big bad BoB T2 ship, lulz.

If you want hot ship on ship action look for ops titled*****fag, roaming, suicide, or newbie. Strategic only recently (since Rev 2 actually) meant POS shooting without resistance most of the time.

We take the game more seriously than probably any other Alliance but at the same time can laugh at ourselves about it. Goons are all about getting a laugh, just because most alliances don't get our sense of humor doesn't mean it isn't funny. The reason Goons are going after BoB is due to what happened after that "unnamed event" that caused BoB and other to go to Syndicate to kill Goons en mass. BoB villified us on the forums and created something of a political mess on the forums etc. Really, thats what started the whole problem. No-one gets Goons. Seriously, no-one does.
