It's time for another Live Dev Blog and this time we're introducing CCP t0rfifrans. CCP t0rfifrans started as Lead 3D Artist but is now the Senior Producer for EVE Online and will answer all your EVE related questions and as always the Live Dev Blog will be hosted by Mindstar. This event will take place on Thursday, 23rd October, in the in-game channel "Live Dev Blog". It starts at 20:00 GMT and lasts for about one hour.

What's the future hold for:
1. Bounty Hunting 2. Smuggling - both mentioned in E-ON, now forgoten? 3. Soveriegnty Mechanics - old F&I thread 4. Planetary Interaction 5. 'Stockmarket' 6. Environments - mentioned in F&I and now forgoten? 7. Local and the scanning system (exploration could be included here).
oh and none of the following:
Dev: 'yeah thats coming, we dont know when, no details, but it'll be great' Mindstar: - 'Wow that sounds awesome - moving on...'
As thats the equivalent of saying not a lot :)

How many people attend these so-called blogs, as a percentage of active players? 1%? 5%?
How hard would it be for CCP to produce transcripts for the rest of us? And if it's just too hard to do then where's the benefit to us in these live events? Sure, it's much more convenient for the devs to just talk and walk, but what about the players? Eve might "enjoy the privilege of a global customer base" but this kind of narrow language & timezone specific approach to dissemination is simply bush league.

The answer to the first two should be "no", given skill points don't accumulate when an account is inactive. One would assume some sort of consistency, especially since market orders and RP allow accounts to acquire wealth while inactive, which is more unfair than allowing SP to accumulate.
General question: will a transcript be supplied? I suspect the answer is "no", which is a shame because not supplying a transcript lends to this culture CCP seems to have against transparency. |

Now is this going to go ahead or has this idea been scr.aped now?
Think also anchorable gate sentrys was also mentioned, but i been to sleep a few many times since then to remeber exactly?
Now a question about pos's, can ccp please fix how long they take to anchor moduals and unachor them, or just allow a pos do do multiple things at same time depending on achoring skills or something?
Can CCP also allow corp hanger array's to be named so we know which hanger array is what?

Do you guys actually read these Blog forum questions before you do the blog?
Felt the last Dev blog had a dev unprepared to answer real questions and give SOLID responses.
Also, Are you assessing your projects time management schedules? You have promised more than I can list and the playerbase is getting restless.(Appease Us! APPEASE US!!!)
I'd recommend restructuring roles, or recruiting more people...You know like in an EVE corporation. 
Also, Customer Service/Quality Assurance/Needed Content/Non Nerf = Skill queue.

As a performance fix, have you ever considered removing all ship to ship/drone collision detection like was done with wrecks and cans ? My experience is that a large number of ship collisions that happens for instance with gang warping a group of capital ships creates massive lag and desynchs.

You don't need a Game Producer for those answers. I'm not sure an artist/producer even understands the technical details to answer those questions. How about answers from someone with 45 years of advanced programming, including databases?

Q: How exactly does EVE calculate SP gained, and how does it affect the DB?
A: The simple answer is that when you click to start a training step the server calculates a completion date/time and points. Think of that as a post-it note in the char info in the database. It's an out-of-game waiting period. It just means you won't be able to use the new skill level until after that date/time. If nothing changes your attributes there is no processing involved once the completion has been calculated and stored. If you remain offline or your account expires, obviously nothing can change your attributes, so there is still no processing. The completion date/time just waits to be discovered when you log in again. Of course you can't log in if your account has expired, until you reactivate it.
The longer version is that things can happen to "pause" training or change your attributes, thus changing the completion date/time, but only if you are online. You could get podkilled, for example, losing implants, possibly losing skills. Losing implants or Learning skills could affect your attributes. In these cases a function has to retrieve the currently training skill and recalculate the completion date/time and store it back. After that there is again no ongoing processing.
Notice I didn't mention plugging in a new implant or unplugging an existing one. That's because the recalculation function is NOT called; instead you are required to pause any training before changing implants. That's what some of us in programming would call a "programming 101 cop-out." They make you go through extra steps so they can avoid a small amount of programming to recalculate the current training.
When you pause a training step in the normal course of your char management, it results in the date/time and possibly points being removed from the "current training" variables, the current state of that step calculated, and then stored in the skill inventory for your char along with other inactive skill steps, any of which may be partial or complete.
For the nerf they had to add a call to this "pause" functionality to the char disablement at account expiration to forcibly put a currently training skill into the paused state.
When you resume a training step in the normal course of events, it results in the stored skill step being fetched from the inventory, a new completion date/time and possibly points being calculated on the basis of your current attributes, and set into the current training variables in the char info. No further processing ensues unless and until your client prompts the server to detect completion or an attribute change forces a recalculation or you pause the training step.
When you log in, the current server date/time is subtracted from the active skill completion date/time, if any, to detect a possible completed skill. If completed, you see the familiar popup advising you of the completion.
When you open the Char Sheet, your Eve client uses info retrieved from the database to construct an elaborate illusion of training as an ongoing process complete with a countdown of remaining time. The servers don't know or care anything about this, as there is no ongoing process. Only the client is involved in creating this illusion.

I've been wondering about that myself. They nerfed one of the powerful addictive aspects of Eve -- the draw to get us to reactivate lapsed accounts to enjoy training completions. Even a slight drop or delay in reactivations will cost CCP money. Any thought they may have had of forcing people to keep accounts active to train was pure fantasy.
The irony is that I have been completely aware of the almost diabolical mechanisms Eve has used to draw us in, keep us in, and keep us coming back, and I have never resented them as long as I enjoyed the game and had at least a tiny bit of respect for CCP.
But since the nerf of unsubbed training, which I had thought was an extremely clever way to draw us back in, and the manner in which they handled it, I no longer enjoy the game and have lost that last litle bit of respect for CCP. Thank you, CCP, for freeing me from that compulsive cycle of always coming back to Eve!

Are you planning on changing the tracking formula to correctly account for size vs. distance? Currently it's possible to miss a Battleship blotting out the sun, or never hit a target at '0m', because the current formula doesn't account for a closer target being larger and therefore easier to hit. --------------

Why the **** are you ignoring the vast piles of player feedback on your upcoming gameplay changes?
There is overwhelming agreement that you are doing things completely wrong. We understand (and most of us agree) that there were some problem speed setups, but the rest of the game was pretty well balanced. Why have you ignored all of the proposals for a more limited and focused nerf that would only hurt the problem ships, instead of the following list:
1) Blaster ships, especially battleships. Too slow to get in range, seriously hurt by the web nerf. 2) Missile ships. AB/MWD alone are NOT tank mods, and should not give ANY damage reduction without overdrives/nanos/etc. This is an across-the-board nerf to missile dps, even against non-speed-tanking ships of the same size class. 3) Interceptors. These are now suicide tacklers, little better than a T1 frigate for many times the cost. 4) Interdictors. As if they were not slow enough as it is, now they're really suicide. 5) Locus rigs. I guess it was just not acceptable having a useful rig besides trimarks/extenders/CCCs? Remember how nobody ever used them until you un-stacking-nerfed them? Yeah, that's what we're going back to. I suspect you wanted to nerf pulse lasers, but you've also killed off Minmatar and Gallente snipers, while doing some serious damage to the Caldari railboats. 6) Drone ships. You've said you're going to nerf medium drones, and judging by your record so far, we can only imagine how bad this is going to be...
None of these ships are a problem on TQ. Nobody has been complaining about them. So why are you nerfing them?

Personally, I just want to know that everyone at CCP is ok, in light of the current economic situation in Iceland. It must be very stressful working there at the moment. Not only do you have various projects on the go with deadlines looming, a rabid pack of ungrateful players screaming blue murder at you because they can no longer take advantage of an exploit which basically let them play for free, but you have the economy falling down around your ears. It can't be very pleasant. Let us know your ok, your are human beings and have human needs. Is there anything we can do? Can those of us coming to Fanfest bring any essentials which you can't get in Iceland (I hear Marmite is hard to come by)
I know there are lots of things that need fixed, and lots of things that need building, but if the people doing the fixing and building are getting to the point where they no longer want to do any fixing or building then its time to take a time out.
I would like to make a suggestion. Give everyone at CCP Reykjavik a month after Quantum Rise drops where they can do what they like. No deadlines, no pressure, they don't even have to come into work if they don't want to. I'd rather be paying for game made out of love than for a game made to appease the shreiking of a minority of players.
These are people trying to run a business and while some of the things they do to try and make that business a success may anger some of us, I'm sure we all agree that our world would be a poorer place without EVE in it.
To everyone at CCP: Keep it up, don't get discouraged, and good luck.

frankly anybody who has had some experience with databases could tell you that
next time look closely for the "....3....2....1....Completion imminent" message on the character sheet im only asuming, since i dont know the code behind it, this is when the client goes in and rechecks with the database on the skill status... database then goes along and checks the skill stats and reports completion if there is one thats finished to put it in terms regular nerds can understand
zero puctuation was right you know in eve there are allot of nerds who are to nerds what nerds are to normal people

Q: What will be done to compensate the Rapier for its loss in webifier power? This ship relies on its webs to be able to survive, since it has a paper tank.

1. What steps are being taken to ensure that blaster ships remain viable in light of the upcoming speed changes?
2. Can you release any solid plans on the future of the Black Ops battleships, other than to say that they are getting a fuel bay? More jump range? Ability to jump a fair sized cloaking gang a reasonable distance, ignoring cyno jammers and to also have a useful combat role in their own right?
3. Can you please reduce the price of bombs to a level that is line with other ammunition?
4. Ships such as the Arazu were hit very hard with the nerf to sensor damps. Are there any changes planned to restore there usefulness, perhaps with a boosting of the ship bonus, or even the addition of a module similar to signal distortion amps for dampers?
5. What reason can you give for the inability of Stealth Bombers to warp cloaked? Is there any scope for this to be changed?

1) Question specially for Mindstar (but Zulupark can also answer): Why don¦t we get any transcripts of LiveDevBlogs? For the last ones, we didn¦t even get a recording! This is humiliating for all, who don¦t have time to listen to the LiveDevBlog or who don¦t know English as well to understand them.
2) Is there any chance for more open discussions with players on new game designs? Several new features (FW, Certificates, ...) could have been much more powerful, if some concepts would have been changed a bit from the beginning. But at the time, when players get to see them it¦s much too late to change any of the fundamental concepts.
3) profit/risk, specially in regards of the mission system: Currently the high-sec still has the activity, which combines one of the highest profits with a very low risk: lvl 4 missions. Till now all attempts to change this were not really succesful. In low-sec and 0.0 the best activity are still high-end moons, but they are quite rare. Nearly nothing else (except cosmos radar plexes, if they still work) has a better profit/time rate than lvl-4 missions with a much higher risk. What are your ideas to change this, or is this fine for you that highsec has all the cookies?
3a) Are there any plans to improve lowsec, like a viceroy-system to reduce the risk there?
3b) Any plans to improve 0.0? Like making a common solar-system more profitabel? Make it more difficult to hold a large area of space (multiple regions)?

How many accounts have been canceled in general with all the bad news coming to the player base that do love Eve but have are quitting because they aren't willing to pay dev's for a total redesign of the combat system in the 5th year of release?
What do you say about the game being less fun on SISI then what is currently on TQ?
How does the dev team feel about 600+ pages of "this is going suck I quit Eve" comments on the SISI changes? Is it making any difference?

Most people that think about the stealth bomber are thinking about cruise missiles. But im interested in the bomb part of those ships. As how they now are its a total failiur. *why cant a stealth bomber use cov op cloak? (maybe only cov op cloak when bomb launcher fitted? Or u can only fit 1 of those 2, cruise or bomb and only cov op with bomb launcher fitted?) *why do bombs such little damage if u concider, speed, signature ratius and transversal velosity of small ships? *Why are bombs soo slow? (to slow u cant catch anything with it that has a MWD) *isnt there a way to give the stealth bomber a 100% damage resistence against bombs?
Being in 0.0 is fun, but when u are newly in a corp they dont want to give out pos corp hanger rights becasue u can anchor the whole pos. So basicly u are stuck in systhems with npc stations in them. Leads to my next question:
*why isnt it possible to give pos hanger rights to someone without he being able to unachor mods/tower?
Final question for me: *Does my questions inspire CCP to look at the Stealth bomber design and change/modify something in relation with bombs?

I seriously doubt anyone will recieve a transcript of anything as it would require ,a commitment from ccp, and the only commitment ive seen anywhere in forums is "if you dont like it quit".
Rest assured the above commitment is in effect!
What use is new content when the content we have now is either totaly useless, or inoperative, ie. elite drone ais, tom, **** n harry dna not to mention zors.
At this time i believe the proper attitude concerning eve is, Who cares?
In a recent event a player deposited 10 mil in trit to his stock pile it poofed! The player contacted a gm thru the marvelous petition system and was in structed to,"clear your cache" which removed all game logs.
Once the player accomplished this he was instructed to produce proof that he had the 10 mil in trit to begin with, as customer service couldnt find anywhere evidence that he had it to begin with.
No the person was no me! I happen to be privy to the situation.
I guess what im trying to say is Dev Blog? who cares?
If you cant put it in writing for all eve players to read, then all you are doing is wasting space and the time of those who thirst for meaningful changes in eve and content that works.
Please excuse any typos or bad grammer, truth is im like ccp who cares i sure don't im busy stockpiling worthless dna and elite drone ais, as well as other meaningless items.

Moving on...... Some guy was bloggin on about a year or so about 'entire systems becoming asteriod belts' (probably one too many Quafe's). What id like to know is, are there any plans (not talking about the mythical Orca) to make Industry a little more interesting? Maybe make people use probes to scan down ALL asteroid belts (which would totally frack the macro miners)? I just feel that there could be alot more to industry (in the way of excavation, not the research/T2 part)?
Also....are there any plans to 'enhance' or make the engineering side, (I.E. ship fitting and configuration) a little more 'IN DEPTH' things like manually adjusting power to different modules etc...?

- I'm a realtively new player, there's never been an alliance tournament since I joined, but I very much enjoyed watching the old ones, are there any plans to hold another any time soon?
- Ghost training
- I think some acknowledgement that the change could have been better handled would be appreciated by a lot of us.
- Buried deep within the thousands of comments on the issue are quite a few suggestions for ways CCP could provide ghost training for those who want it either with a reduced cost subscription which would only allow training, or with an optional fee on resubscribing to have ghost trained skills added to your character. Has there been any discussion of implementing these or similar features?
- Please can we have skill queues now?
- The upcoming UI changes are most welcome, what're your plans for future improvements to the UI system.

- The actual "content" to Quantum Rise? Like new ships, game mechanics, t3? manufacturable implants?, stuff like that! Stuff that changes the game for everyone in a positive way, rather than yet-to-be-balanced nerfs?

CCP staff pointed out that you didn't know about Ghost Training was listed as feature, and were surprised by reaction from community. Fixing a bug and removing a feature that was a major selling point seems different.
Bug abuse is unfair, using an advertised feature that was kept in game intentionally and was advertised is fair, so the change that was planned to be a "fairness patch" became unfair to many players.
Do you consider releasing a "fairness patch" with compensation in the near future? Do you plan to include skill queues in them? Do you plan to reduce skill training times with it?
Learning skills became a major annoyance for new players and new alts, and somehow reducing the gap between new and old players are essential for keeping new players beyound the 7 months mark.
Gradually reduced skill training times (10% / year since release of Eve), removal of learning skill (and boosting attributes to allow faster learning) would be better for the game. What do you think about this?
At "removal" if learning skills: I would turn them into teaching skills. When a character a teaches someone (for free or for ISK) a skill he knows, the bonuses of these "teaching" skills would add to the attributes of the students.
The basic education skill would provide education slot, the attribute affecting skills would give a boost to the student who learns a skill.
What do you think about this idea? I think if learning skills as is are recognized as a problem these proposed changes would make the game better on the long run.

One thing i really really hate is the downtime time. Its not a issue that the server go's down its a issue when it go's down. Im living in GMT +1 timezone and the server always go's down at 1 o'clock in the afternoon till 2. Lately i have seen a few extended downtimes (half hour-45 min later) Its then alreaddy half past 3 or 3 o'cloak. Normal dinner time is 5. So in 1 afternoon i can play 2 hours, i find it redicules and very innoing, so my question is cant downtime become another time? like 3 hours earlyer or 13 hours later? Alot of Europ players would be alot happier

Is there any possibility that CCP could address simple "easy fix" balance issues on a faster time scale? Perhaps something like the Guild Wars model, which implemented incremental stat-oriented balance tweaks on a regular basis.
It seems that significant developer resources go into major balance-related design changes (e.g. the speed rebalance , changes to Nosferatu modules, reduction in unbonused EWAR effectiveness, implementation of turret tracking, torpedo redesign, etc.). Comparatively few developer resources appear dedicated to smaller statistical tweaks (e.g. battlecruiser shield regen, caldari capital CPU, siege torp HP, autocannon RoF, etc.) -- an understandable consequence of a long development pipeline full of major projects.
A faster implementation of incremental balance changes would be useful given the coming speed rebalance. The complex knock-on effects of these sweeping changes guarantee that Sisi testing won't uncover every resulting balance problem. Once problems reveal themselves on TQ, I want to measure CCP's response time in months, rather than quarters or years. Silly things like the Typhoon having less ArmorHP than ShieldHP and T2 ammo being either amazing (sniper ammo) or underpowered (close range high damage) makes it hard to have confidence in timely fixes.
Would CCP consider creating a small team of devs dedicated to quickly identifying balance issues and implementing fixes, perhaps on a monthly basis? Perhaps you can call them "Balance Ninjas" and give them cool t-shirts. But someone at CCP needs to "own" the fine tuning of ships and modules -- the nerf scalpel, rather than nerf bat. CCP needs to replace its haphazard approach to "little fixes" with something systemic -- the laudable, but overdue, Citadel Torp HP boost got attention after a dev stumbled onto a 50 page thread and took the initiative.
Lastly, the nerdiest and less ideological members of EVE's player base, as well as recent CCP hires therefrom, could be a great resource for data and ideas.
2. A New UI
Is a completely redesigned UI currently in the pipeline? EVE's current UI compares very poorly to those in MMOs of the last several years.
Specific issues that need to be addressed: - color blindness usability (ARRRGHH! WHY ALWAYS RED AND GREEN?!) - remappable hot keys - customizable buttons (I shouldn't need a drop down menu to change orbit from 15km to 20km) - much less busy module display (those poor little buttons are overfilled with module activation, heat activation, heat damage, ammo, and now cycle timers and weapon linking) - sharable overview and bracket settings - less reliance, generally, on drop down menus and mouse clicks -- more keybinds and buttons - no more random window movement, resizing, snap-to neighbors, etc.

What is CCP's vision regarding blaster ships in Eve? What is their envisioned role? How does CCP expect them to compete in PVP against all the other types of ships and fits? What is CCP doing to ensure that they remain effective?
Other than that, my fellow players have already come up with a very darn good list of questions. If even 1% of them are answered satisfactorily, I'll be impressed.

While strolling through the forums and patting himself on the back for the wonderful Dev Blog on "Ghost Training" and the interview with MMOG CCP t0rfifrans wasn't watching where he was going and tripped over the Threadnaught on "Ghost Training", FAILED and hit his head, and is using it as an excuse to dodge the angry mob with virtual torches and pitchforks.
Here are my questions 1. What is CCP going to do about training now that the "unintended feature" has been removed? 2. No other MMO allows the player to gain XP while inactive, but EVE is not any other MMO. EVE requires real time training, some of which takes over a month to do. Many people used this time to take a break or recharge or take vacations or deployments for military people. Now it's gone and many are angry. What are CCP's plans to ease the sting if any? Also as others mentioned can we get a transcript of these dev blogs please? 3. Can you tell us exactly how many active accounts have been canceled since the "Ghost Training" nerf?

I have left 0.0 alliance warfare because of the intense lag associated with it. While I do not experience any computer or network lag because I have a very powerful computer, most often, it is node lag which makes the game unplayable.
What is being done to improve alliance warfare and the servers ability to support large groups of players interacting with one another?

I would just like to comment of the upcoming nano nerf coming with quantum rise. I'm not a super hardcore player who cares about ratios and equations, i have however been on the test server, and since my guy is mainly minmatar...i feel really astonished at the core. I have just finished training the vagabond...and would not have had i known about these changes...amarr ships seem to have a distinct advantage. U guys talk about balance....the balance has been tossed out the airlock...

As a new player just under one month old, I'm struggling ingame. Vet players griefing newbies, tutorials just as confusing as the game itself, and a lack of fun content. Hell, I don't even really play anymore. Just log in, train another skill, and log out to go play something else.
Will there be anything coming down the pipeline for us newbies? All day long it's mining, ratting, missions, and one sided PvP encounters. I tried taking a look at FW, but the drawbacks of joining seem not worth the hassle. Especially if I want a career in Industry.
I guess in short, I'm bored ingame. There's nothing fun or engaging to do for us newbies. Is there anything coming that will alleviate this problem and keep us interested?

In regards to the speed nerf.
Why havn't you just looked into putting a speed cap on all ships, relative to their size?
This would be the simplest fix, and require the least amount of work on all fronts. Plus it would be the best way to avoid all the 100+ pages and several threads on why US the customers have expressed tons of unhappiness towards how this whole fiasco is being handled.

Join a good corp - They will help you and teach you - You will notice a GREAT difference to you current playing-experince ;)

I have a question concerning the speed changes. It seems to me that most of the intended changes are to rebalance PvP encounters, but what about PvE? How moch exactly is my battleship becoming slower? It could sereously hurt the ability to do missions if a battleships speed is cut by 30%. Are the ships base speeds are going to be cut down or only the way modules affect them?

I would suggest that comets appear in different systems randomly and that if found can be mined to make money, also stars should go nova at least once a year. Notice can be given to the occupants of that system like a month in advance so everyone can move out. Insurance can be bought for lost items and bases. Its the natural thing to do, then new systems can replace the ones destroyed. Also in space you are really not limited to spped as you are in the game. for instance as long as you have thrust you will gain speed slowley, so I don't think ship speed should be so limited except for acceleration.

what's the future bringing for old useless content such as: defender missiles, reinforced bulkheads, mines, melted snowballs.
when are we gonna get a new eve introduction movie like "eve never fades", rather then just release movies. when are we gonna get a new eve intro movie (ingame movie)
why is the range on t2 heavy precision missiles so ridiculous, it omits the whole "short range weapon" thingy.
Certificates are an excellent idea for obvious reasons, but offcourse this is not easy. a vagabond for instance looks by slot layout like an armor tanker, but probably not 1% of the vagabond pilots flies it armortanked, almost everyone has a shield tank. To avoid issues like that and eve not being a "hold the player by the hand" game like some MMORPGs, why not stick to tech1 ships with certificates.
ECM is a thing which has never seemed to work correctly. first they were underpowered, then overpowered, then underpowered again and now they are massively overpowered on specific ecm ships like the rook and the falcon. It cannot be intentional that a falcon can perma-jam a ship with 3 eccm fitted. But rather then more tinkering with the ecm strenght number, why aren't u looking at the actual % chance-to-jam calculator ? or rather why not implement an actual counter. (fi, if jam chance is 50% on 1 ecm module, that's 1/2 so opponent gets jammed, and then the ecm module cannot be re-used until 2 activation-cycles are gone, making the jammer work exactely 50% of the time. if jam chance is 10%, then target gets jammed first cycle and then the module cannot be used for 9 cycles (making a total of 10 cycles) )

When the CSM brought up the topic of Black Ops in its meetings with the developers, it was made one of the top priorities of the issues needing focus/change. Suggestions were made to give Black Ops a separate fuel bay and to allow Deep Space Transports to use covert portals for refueling purposes.
What can you let us know about your view on these ideas? And more importantly, will we see any changes to Black Ops in Quantum Rise? A yes/no would do.
Also, considering the overall lower speeds we will experience in Quantum Rise, will the speed bonus of the Panther be adjusted accordingly, or rather be replaced since a battleship cannot act like a Vagabond?

I'm sure not many of you have noticed this, and I'm not sure if there is already a topic on this, but DEVS PLEASE UPDATE THE NPC CORPS!
There are many EVE chronicles/stories and now there is even a book! Now since this whole "Empyrean Age" is based on power changes inside NPC corps such as the Ishukone and Caldari Contructions CEO being DEAD, and the rise of the new Amarr empress etc. none of this has been reflected inside the game. Look up the CEO of the Emperor Family: It's still Doriam KorAzor. Wasn't he dead/missing for some time now?
I not a hardcore roleplayer like some might be, but please update the game according to what you guys write. Otherwise the stories leave little impact, as they don't effect the game.
PS - Another idea: It would also be very cool if us capsuleers could experience ingame events as well. (coronation of Sarum anyone? I would love to see 20+ Amarr titans in formation at the Amarr station)

In light of the devblog on weapon grouping i have this question:
How can i tell how many of my guns are ready to fire another volley? Or do they all fire, no matter how many guns it takes to kill the target?
Here is an example:
I fire all my guns on a cruiser, it will take two volleys (EXACTLY 16 shots total, 2 for each of my 8 turrets) to pop him. Then i fire on 4 frigates. Each frigate takes 2 shots (1 shot from 2 turrets), thus i can instapop the four frigates with my eight guns really quickly.
So how is the frigate scenario handled? Will all eight guns shoot the ONE frigate i target and the excess damage left in void?
If that is the case, then weapon grouping is just another not so thought through feature and i will still use F1-F8.

My only question? Why constantly break out the nerf bat to everything fun in eve. We train and train to get these ships and then their nerfed to crap because most players are to (Insert comment of your choice: Lazy, ignorant, bored, drunk, whine to much) get these ships and fly them adequately.
Instead of breaking out the nerf bat why not add new mods, skills, ships, to counterbalance adverse effects. We are happy cause we have new content to play around with making the game even more fun, and our for instance say 300M nanotars, blaster boats etc dont become a pile of junk |

4)Hmmm,more on ships....Just how hard would it be for you to drop in programming that has no gameplay effect....oh say ship logo's or paint-jobs.....not hard at all considering the work you put into other useless improvements...
5)At the very least give us a vauge idea of what the orca is and does other than saying it's a high-sec mining cap ship.
6)Ambulation......A real nice tease...if it doesn't come out soon well then eve will no longer interest me enough to play...mid-summer...any later and goobye.

Was having a discussion with some corpies about the use of capital ships in plex' / mission running the other day. We also discussed Capital missions and how that could be a progression in game. A plex would escalate to a final room where you might have to battle a dread for instance. The gate would have to be activated by a capital ship to complete the plex. Just an idea. What do you think? possibly 0.0 plex' only perhaps. |

The idea of planetary combat is a great idea, would add a lot of possibility to a game that I hate to is becoming very stale. In my opinion if you want to make this game more desirable to the masses you need to offer more content, and I'm not talking about more ships or equipment. People are going to get bored very easily if all they have to look forward to is mining/building and mission running day in and day out. Sure there is pvp but what new player has the skill or the isk to throw away on destroyed ships and equipment? I know some will have a problem with the idea of being able to go to planets because they say " this is a space game ". Well there are planets in space ! Captian Kirk and Spoc didn't just fly thru space on the Enterprise lol. Eve has been a great game and it was vision that made it so. Change is a good thing and Eve is in dire need of a major overhaul.

Is there a chance that you will fix the code cuasing hangs?
I have a system that exceeds your minimum requirements, but it just doesn't seem to work well.
The Windows are constantly reloading, and whenever Task Man shows traffic on the network, The screen does not update, and the game hangs.
This is particularly annoying since the client code seems to reload the market pages constantly. Sometimes I can't even scroll to the bottom of the general descriptions before it reloads and moves me back to the top.
To this day I'm still wondering what the bottom of some of those pages look like.
It's also a real Bi*** when you go into battle, and wait 10 or 15 seconds to be able to issue commands, only to find that your pod is incapable of locking a target. . ...

Can there be a warning in game that tells you that your EVE playing time is about to end, like make it an hour before the time actually expires that way we can tell people if need be that I am about to run out of EVE playing time and I don't know when ill be able to get another time card. That way if im helping one of my corp mates move his carrier or something I just don't get kicked out in the middle of it and leave him hanging because I have no clue when my time is up.

Might as well add my noob two isky worth.
How about some fully programmable hot keys, such jump, align, lock target, etc. It's already done somewhat for drones (& is very helpful), so why not ships. This would be very nice for combat for us noobies. It would also help alleviate some of the mouse clicking carpal tunnel issues.

on a different topic CCP appears to be stopping new Alliance logo's being uploaded, this surley is a part of the game which helps personalise role play, also whilst on the subject of logo's is it possible that these logo's or even corporation logo be attached to all of that Corporation or Alliances Ships; and lastly we have Corporations and Alliances couls (Coalition)be added as an option, this is were Alliances band together to form a larger group, more able to ward off the large Alliances which are making an imbalance. thanks for your time Geldaq Raal

Speed Nerf, and Nerfs in General.
While I perfectly understand the necessity of game rebalancing, I sometimes fail to follow the philosophy behind the actual nerfs and how CCP carries them out. It appears to me that some obvious factors are not taken into account.
SPEED NERF
The problem we had is that some HACs can do more than 8 km/sec, and inties are so fast that no weapon type can effectively hit them ... unless they are webbed and their MWD is shut down by a neutralizer (see, the answer is in fact already there). Then fix the problem changing stats/bonus on these ship types, and maybe reducing the bonus of overpowered rigs like the Polycarbons, to reduce the speed about 20-30%. Also, you can increase the speed on the type of weapons supposed to hit them (light drones, etc.). And anyway, valid counters were available (Rapiers/Huginns, and heavy neutralizers), so what is the big fuss about anyway.
Why change the speed balance of ALL other ships instead? You are opening a can of worms. - Blasterships will become nearly to useless, they are too slow, and accelerate even worse, cannot get in range fast enough to be effective. Amarr will be the new FOTM (yes, I already started cross-training a couple of months ago) - Due to web changes (60%, are you kidding me? Domination web just 50%?!?) it is absolutely impossible for a blaster BS to even hit a close orbiting AND webbed cruiser, frigates are not even an option. Even worse, they cannot hit a cruise even at optimal. - the MWD reactivation delay is a horrible idea, as is the warp scrambler that can shut a MWD down. Close range fights will see even less mobility = boring. - 28+ pages of arguments on Bellum Eternus thread on the ideas and suggestions forum, and as far as I know no reply and no valid argument to support why you want to carry out this nerf this way -> the wrong way.
Again: you are completely changing the balance and combat characteristics of full classes of ships nobody ever complained about. The problem was too fast Vagabonds, Ishtars and Interceptors. Fix those (or even do not fix them, I really do not care). Leave the blasterboats alone, please. Your implementation of this nerf will make solo-pirating close to impossible (as it was almost only possible on that class of ships), and reducing the freedom of players in the game is a bad, bad idea.
ECM - Falcons
Can't you see it is friggin overpowered? I am starting seeing gangs with just 6-7 ships, 3 of which are falcons. That cannot be right. No cruise class ship should be able to perma-neutralize 3 BS class enemy ships, period. Also, ECM needs to be completey rethinked, as it is the only sort of "weapon" you cannot really counter with any module (ECCM is not enough), and that renders you useless when jammed. Fighting with ECM is lame, and boring.
Some comment about these concerns, which I share with many other players, would be greatly appreciated.

You need Concord to gain more control over High Sectors like 1.0-5. You have no control over rogue players that start stuff with new players, like ore thieves messing with the Containers of a miner. They flash red weather they take it or not, and they bully new players into fights they can't win, this almost drove me away from the came. I'm sure it has made many a beginner quit EVE. Their is so much for a new player to learn and so much time involved in learning, to have some power happy idiot take it away. You still ore from a miner in High Sec, should be a crime that alerts Concord and the gate guns. After all the ISK must flow, so like it or not miner's are the back bone of EVE.

QUESTION TO DEV-BLOG:
I really like the look of this coming ship the Orca, the tractorbeam bonus and the passive gang-bonus. What I lack is a real cargo for it to be a "mini-freighter", as I understood U want it to be. But I guess you don't want it to compete with regular freighters, so here comes a suggestion/question:
Could the Orca not be given a ROLE-bonus that ore takes 50% to 75% less space in it's cargo. Then a piece of Arkonor would fill 4-8 m3 instead of 16 m3 when placed in Orca, and this ship would fill it's role as it should and where it should.
*It would be a temporary/passive compress bonus, similar to the Rorqual, only that it's only as long as the ore is placed in the cargo of the Orca.

also what about dealing with this deal where by we have getting massive ammout of failed targeting attempts, while nanocrap ships speed of to 100 km before you can even target them. guys decloak after jump and are staying invulnerable for 5 or more seconds after beginning movement.

I would like to see more ships for the races. Mainly it would kinda give people a more individualistic feel to the universe. Instead of having hundreds of people using the same ship. It would be interesting to see players choose a ship that could fit their profile and not have tons of people possibly using it.

Wondering with the speed changes, will there be any changes to missions due to increase or decrease of speeds for certain missions. Some missions have Gates that are far away, and with new Battleship speeds will be a ridiculous amount of time to get to them on level 4 missions.

i also see a lot of times cloaking ships drop out of warp and siting on top of the gate and the cloak dosen't get deactivated due to objects being inside the decloaking radius. Fleet PVP you need to fix the server clamming up on ridiculasly low percentage of the population and everthing backs up 15 minuits or more in lag. i see less than half of a percent of the total population in a fight and the cluster goes comatose.

No offense, but how do you think blaster ships will be better?
Let's take the essential blaster ship, the Megathron for example. Now with the web changes, it will be nigh-impossible to keep a target A) pinned down and B) track smaller targets. You can fit a scrambler if you want to so that you can cut off MWDs, but then you are killing the ability of the Megathron as a solo ship (not that it is much of one now) as your effective tackling radius is (with a t2 scrambler) ~11km.
The other fun bit is that if you get scrambled in turn, you now have no way to move closer to the target due to not being able to MWD. Therefore, you turn into a lead weight which can only die while other ships orbit outside of your range or under your tracking speed.
You could say that you now have to fit a scrambler as well as the standard tackling gear (warp disruptor and web), but then you realize you only have 2 mids left, and they are used by the injector and MWD. If you get rid of the MWD, you might as well reprocess your thron for the good it will do you; if you get rid of the booster, you will cap out in under a minute and a half due to the huge cap requirements of the blasters.
So, Zulupark, how do you think blaster ships will be better off due to these changes?

It would be nice and good for business if there was an evolving representative structure where users can to some extent direct where the game is going and the changes that we would like to see. also have some format to the extent possible as the game second life where users can actually create and sell stuff in the game and get real world money for it. that way we could play 24/7 if we want without worrying about another source of income. finally, make a real-life command console for ships for sale -if economically feasible- where we would be steering the ship like zulu 9star trek) instead of using keyboard (or at least a joystick). |

There are many EVE chronicles/stories and now there is even a book! Now since this whole "Empyrean Age" is based on power changes inside NPC corps such as the Ishukone and Caldari Contructions CEO being DEAD, and the rise of the new Amarr empress etc. none of this has been reflected inside the game. Look up the CEO of the Emperor Family: It's still Doriam KorAzor. Wasn't he dead/missing for some time now?
I not a hardcore roleplayer like some might be, but please update the game according to what you guys write. Otherwise the stories leave little impact, as they don't effect the game.

Why can we password energy fields but not our ****ing SMA's on cap ships?

Question: Game Time Code prices are soaring nearly trippling in the last year especially after CCP got rid of the 90 day gtc and 30 day gtc. They have said in the past that there will be a new character creator engine or something, so after abulation hits, everyone will have to go thru the process. So to answer your question, yes, you will have to remake your face.

We have been going on the test server, and giving feedback that the changes are horrible, more people on the test server have stated this over and over again, then liking any of the changes. Thanks Zulupark any doubts of canceling my subscriptions is over, EVE is over for me and many others!

Just because people are complaining about this..."SHOOT THE DAMN MACRO MINNERS" Solution to corp. standing hit CCP please make call for corp. assistance button that requires intelligence to activate that canÆt be "macroed".
BUMP UP "SKILL QUEUE" Bombs for stealth bombers should be triggered/set to explode at a distance or set for proximity. Most of this should be client controlled.
Skill for packing ships with Riggs. THIS PART IS the STAR TREK MMO KILLER UPGRADE [b]Possible uses for Ambulation/b]
"Real Space Pirating" Capability to invade enemy ships with the intention to steal the ship or rob it of goods. This would require targeting specific module targeting do disable ships without destroying it. Boarding and hand to hand combat. Multiplayer ships Possible roles for players in multiplayer ships engineering to allow module overcharging and replacements/swapping. Gang linking to aide fellow pilots with transfers of shields, caps and other war complications. Ship tractor beams for towing captured ships. Sequestering pilots Any pilot can commit suicide if the kidnapping becomes boring but of course will loose his implants. Alliances or corps/ gang that have sequestered pilots can ask for ransomed or expect to have an invading force come to save their team mate. and or other station mischief. Weapons inside stations can be filtered by anti weapon turrets, if some level of civility is desired.
"Would like" Station windows to lounge out while I drink my bear. Planet and moon ambulation and construction and activities. Maybe giving the capabilities of bonus manufacturing for specific Items if there is a need to de-blob the universe this may be a means. Of course this will require "SOME' substantial hardware resources to offload the EVE-servers.

That was a terrible blog. The only new information presented was that new stargates would be the only new Trinity enhancement, which itself is massively disappointing.
The rest is basically a direct rehash of things said on ghost training, jovians, tech3, speed, skill queues.
And a few ridiculous comments about blasters / gang warfare thrown in to emphasize why he's a content dev.
What a huge waste of everybody's time. |

I listened to some the blog which I usually avoid. Especially the last part. Here is an interesting question and please keep in mind i am a budding programmer and aware of the process it takes to develop code and everything.Can you guys care even less about what everyone is saying or the questions that are being asked. have you even considered the consideration for your player base. i got the impression you guys careless and even don't give a flying sh*t about who you are making the improvements for. With every patch the improvements that are needed are often overshadowed with the stuff you screw up. Lets take sensor damps which yes might have needed a slight adjustment that you improved to utterly useless. Now not only are you planning to improve speed but now you gonna not improve the blasters and railguns that would have been a simple fix to the speed issue. As well as the simple issue of improving some of the bigger ships ie battle ships and capitals making the more able to maneuver easily and possibly make faster. No instead we are gonna break everything. Oh yeah in the process totally invalidate several months of skill training that everyone has paid months for. Hmmm maybe you need to fired the idiots and get new people in and get fresh set of programming eyes to improve the game instead of breaking the game. I for the most part also see the need to get more nodes to handle the ever increasing player base or wait is it your plan to lose money while your player base is building by losing those players who been faithful for over 3 years plus who have been nothing but patient. I also find it amazing how inept with how you guys are taking so long to make walking avatars when there about 50 million sources of code available to enable to do that. So in short keep the solutions less complicated because the more complicated you are getting the more you are breaking the game. Second quit trying to interfere with the bob goon war and concentrate on the whole player base. you will influence the war better that way then what you are doing. Yes there is a pattern with the patches in which you enforce and yes people have picked up on it.

First of all I would like to thank CCP for the great game which I enjoy very much and because of that i am gladly paying a subscription fee. Second I am really tired of that "oh my god you have nerfed my super pimped nano ship, you are all idiots, how could you even dare". Personally iam more or less ok with speed nerf and as i can see CCP is very careful with all the system balancig stuff. So you whiners just adapt or die, everything is changing even games... besides you can use whatever argument you like but 6km/s going battleships are sick!

omg go back to kindergarten and learn to spell or at least use spell check. i wasn't whiny i was pointing out in a intelligent way what makes the speed nerf idiotic and also I pointed out that the devs came off that they don't care about their player base and pretty much blew off everyone in the blog. I even pointed out how not improving the stuff that needs to change is breaking the game. Its obvious you really haven't spent the money and time to spec anything to understand why everyone is complaining but that's ok we all know you are a carebear.

Alright Alex, I'll bite.
I am not whining about the whole *nano issue* except of what it'll do Interceptors, Interdictors, and death-traps like those.
My main concern is the lack of consideration that CCP is putting into ships that rely on stasis webifiers, micro-warp-drives, and the like (IE: Blasters). The Deimos was a death-trap before this patch. If we didn't land on top of our enemy, we'd be hurting by the time we got into range.
It's problematic at best with the current nerf and no changes to blasters.
CCP didn't listen to the thread in Game Development. 27+ pages detailing (with mathematical and statistical support) how this patch would be the final nail in the coffin for small blaster boats (Deimos, Astarte) and how it would kill ships like the infamous Gank Megathron.
CCP doesn't listen to their player-base, obviously pointed out to everyone who didn't know, by todays dev-blog.

Yes Solomon, if you put it this way I can agree, it would be really bad if ceptors especially would be renderd useless, still i hope CCP will not let it happen. As you said blasters have their limits now and after speed nerf its going to be even worse... but i can understand CCPs position i belive - lets try how the new system would behave and then make some improvements. But tbh i dont have much about blasters so feel free to flame me:)) |

Ok lets begin with the speed nerf. in order to be in a decently ran interceptor you need to train several skills up to level 5 all totaling depending on your skill range a total of 2 months that totals 30 us dollars worth of change. that's one bad thing. Also with the speed nerf those ships built on the basis to provide a ship that can tackle with the speed and accuracy that a tech 1 frigate can't provide is now totally useless therefore knocking those ships out of the game.
by refusing to improve the blaster it then knocks out several more ships that required more specialization in skills. more lost time and money.
most the changes to the game that the devs come up with creates it so that in battles the bigger blob wins. Instead of making so that a smaller group could win against a bigger group by using specialized tacklers and cruisers or other specialized equipment operators.
to put it in care bear speak if you run missions with 3 and a blob of 10 people came in to your mission you can't run away because your ship is too slow and you wont be able to use blasters cause they could out do your guns.

I really dont think ceptors will become useless, sure they will not be as effective as they used to be, but still they will be able to tackle sucessfully. To your wierd money calculation, i dont get it. Are you paying this game to be able to fly ceptor or to have some fun? To bring you an example i can use assault ships, which i know very good. Meny of you would consider them completly useless, but with decent fit and tactics iam quite succesful with them and i belive ceptors will be the same case. But ofc i can be wrong.
Ad blasters: would you be happy to exchange their extra damage for greater range?
Ad blobs: that is not CCP fault problem is none wants to lose the fight and the easiest thing to asure victory is to bring greater numbers...thats old as mankind itself...

ok have you guys ever thought of making it so that a corp can choose the color scheme to the ships in said corp? or making you so you can customize the colors of your ships?
also when you make it so you can walk in stations you shuld make it so you can customize the look, size and so on of you character, as well as have like a gallery effect so you can see your ships and others ships as you walk around so yu can get the feel of the true immensity of the ships compared to a human |

It's a shame that these forums aren't like another set I read, where flaming/trolling the admin team (so, Devs in this case) gets you an official warning. 5 of those and you're banned from the forums and game permenantly. I'm not too fussed about the changes, what I'd rather see is people who go ahead and make a post like the one above about the villa get suspended/banned. And furthermore, a ban on the forums should mean a ban on the game, no exceptions. |

I'm sure I'm not totally objective about adding a skill queue, but you don't want it because of how you feel and it might cause issues. Are you kidding? Try to imagine what you would think when a player opposed your new idea(like the speed rebalance) with such deep and well thought out comments . The only real reason why it was a bad idea was ghost training made it a character farmers wet dream. I know this might be shocking news, but the current system doesn't prevent character farming either. Implementing a backup skill would not change things much compared how skilling work now, but it would remove much of the inconvenience and training time loss from the system.
And again people log on to play EVE, not the skilltraining feature. I log on to play and try to plan my skills so that one will finish while playing, so I can minimize any inconvenience. If you interpret this in a way, that I logged and played just because of your skill system, you have got it backwards.
Also take note that I have more than 1 account as have many others. Characters on these accounts are very different and I change between them according to how I feel like playing the game at the moment and to take advantage of their skill sets. Since I only play 1 character at a time, this means there are always characters that do nothing, but log on to change skills. This is a consequence of your players forced to have multiple accounts to master multiple aspects of the game at the same time. I have no problem with this since it forces people to specialize and maintains the value of that specialization, but it will increase the number of accounts that are not playing and only logging to change skills.
Finally, simply because a change may cause some issues hasn't stopped you before from implementing new ideas. If you have concerns, lay them out in a blog and let people discuss ways to counter, minimize or eliminate those concerns. sad to say, but the liveblog is well in line with "Quantum Rise". i look it up in a dictionary ...
quantum = smallest indevisible entity
concept and design wise the Quantum Rise "expansion" is not even that, it is pure consolidation. i am ok with bug fixing and game mechanic tweaking, but please do not call it a expansion .... |

Anyone notice that they never mention the Need for Speed anymore? I heard that every time a CCP dev spoke for years, now they don't? Why is that? "Need for Speed" like TopGun... anyone remember that they used to say this all the time am I crazy but by saying this for years didn't that build an expectation that we would have faster servers, faster ships, faster fixes to obvious problems in the gameplay?

as a player who has teh reached the point of capital skill training, im looking at endless lv5 skills that just suck the life out of the game. training cap reps 5(34days) carrier 5(61days) logistics 5(20days +30days of skills needed) and then not to mention all the jump skills and extras you need to get good in one.
can i just give you (ccp) teh cash for the duration of teh skills and just get them. cos i cant be asked waching 6 or 7 lv5 skills take the next 9 months or so.
i rather liked not being able to use that account while that long arsed clock ran down. at least i didnt think it was a waste of my time as i do now.

i guess i missed the post that explained why the live dev blog simply wasn't rescheduled to a time that CCP t0rfifrans could show up for it?
are we to assume the reason it was missed was not out of fear/shame/embarassment of the inactive account training feature being nerfed? or, are we too stupid to make those tiny steps forward in cause/effect?

Over the course of a year, the maximum population grows and declines between 30,000 to 45,000+ players online at peak times. The new 'Stackless' technology has had an over whelming effect for much more smoother and faster game play. A technology that has been in demand for some time. Does CCP hope that the new 'stackless' technology is a vital step to accommodating a rise of population figures for the near future? Are we about to see EVE online become more popular throughout the PC gaming community? - I would like to think so

Could the Orca plz be given a passiv storage role-bonus to storage ore, so that ore only takes half or even 10% of it's natural size. As a way to indicate that it really is a mining-supportship.
Since it got no jumpdrive as the Rorqual, and can't package ore (as it shouldn't be able to imo), it would need more cargostorage. And since it shouldn't compete with freighters the solution with a specilized storagebonus for ore is needed. This is a much better solution than have a seperate cargo for ore sometime in the future as I heard was a suggestion. That's just gonna be messy and every Orca-pilot that use cargo for ore will use both cargo's for ore, that just complicates things. _______________________________
