this sucks i was haveing problems last night downloading the patch after finnaly downloading it it screwed up my eve file so i removed eve completly and downloaded the install file to reinstall after 1 and a half hours it finially finished downloading the client only to tell me there was an error and it hadnt been downloaded what has happend and why

Did you try clearing your EvE cache folder along with your corrupted install ? Under XP it is located in "C:\Documents and Settings\[InsertUserSessionNameHere]\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\"

Oh, there's been a reply ... if you'll look at CCP Navigator's Issues List post ( http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1018302 ) you'll see that s/he cites THIS thread as containing the "workaround" for the autopatching problem. Mind you, the only official post in this thread I could find was the first one that says "It's broken, and we don't know why" ... unless of course you count all the edits by mods warning of dire consequences if you download executes from a third-party site.
Now ... are they so out of touch with reality that they honestly believe there's a solution in here, or are they just so arrogant that they figure we won't notice?

I am using Vista and cleared every EvE file in Programs x86 and Documents after the patch didnt work. Tried both Premium_Setup_84244 files, the installer and the manual one. Very strange how some have been able to run with no problems and yet others are stuck like this.

I don't see any point downloading anymore until CCP says they fixed the issue. I have a file called EVE_Premium_Setup_84244_m downloaded and it's around 1.94 GB. However, they said there is a checksum error. That usually means there is a discrepancy between what was downloaded and what the app expects to have downloaded and not anything with the actual installation process yet. I've tried everything from downloading several time, uninstalling the client, etc. I sure wished I upgraded from Classic to Premium before all then I wouldn't have to deal with all this nonsense but everyone has 20/20 hindsight. BTW, is there really a premium lite version or is it just premium with the settings on low?
Edit: One last try without the "_m". Crosses fingers and starts downloading...
Didn't work.

Ok, at home with a broadband connection I was able to get 1.8 MB/s download rate about 12 min to download patch. Here at work we have a T1 connection but its downloading at 161 kB/sec. WTF? Also, I had an error message the first time I downloaded the patch and had to reinstall the client. Maybe one of these expansions will have a smooth update process but right now it sucks.

I agree ... let's see if we can narrow anything down. I'm running Windows XP SP3 (32-bit), and I downloaded my manual install file from a REAL torrent file (not the pseudo-Torrent downloader), the link to which was posted by one of the devs in the temporary forum. My Torrent client reports the following hash code for that file as C2622D2B5AA9A88E88E94902A22F14ACAF7176D4.

you know I did submit this as a BUG 6 months ago...  next time don't say its just my internet speed and connection and say that you would of heard of this if it happend to more than one person (me) when I put in the bug for yay to look into 
Maybe the people who had this problem never got around to signing up (paying) for an account because this happened to them so that's why you never heard of it...

I'm on my 6th try. Been trying for 24hrs now and with no success. If I succeed this time I'll let you guys know about it and how I did it. If I ran my company's organization this way I'll lose all my clients and I'll be bankrupt in a week.
That said, this game is fantastic and I hope that they will resolve these issues asap.

Well after I re-installed my OS last time I got this error with last patch that was like 6 months ago I found it it was because of the main download so I used the bittorrent download and that fixed the problem but now the bit torrent is messy so I have no clue how to fix the download again GRRR.

and it took you how long to believe there was a problem with Faction Warfare systems (almost 300 signs on a forum topic to get you to look into it... and a lot of my free time wasted) and now you see there is problem with download client after all these months after I told you about it...

I was in the "screwed with patching" crowd too and when I first decided a full install the estimated time for download was 14 hours... not long after, CCP said they were aware of the poor download rates, so I decided to go play something else and come back later. 3 hours later I gave it another try and found myself getting 600kbps download rate. I had deleted both corrupted install and cache prior to this try. 1 hour later game was downloaded and successfully installed.
Server population has been over 20K for hours, I guess yet again it seems like a huge problem everyone's having because only discontented customers voice their issue, while the ones without a problem hardly, if ever, voice their satisfaction. Yet they are the vast majority as proven by server population statistics http://www.eveonline.com/serverStatusGraph/ServerStatus.aspx?gid=1
They'll figure the issue out, don't worry

Awesome content ladies and gents at CCP. I had no trouble downloading or installing! Everything looks incredible. I was just wondering if there is anything special about 64 bit Vista that would require an additional download or a different patch. What I have now works great, but somewhere in the process I ended up with a Eve Premium 84244 m Installer on my desktop, I tried to run it just to see if it was something I should, or if it was what I had installed, and it said: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of windows you're running. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64(64 bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher. Is this why I had to download twice, or is there another/different patch that will make your already incredible game even more cool.

Currently I'm stuck on this step, but then you would be too at 30KB/s. It's pretty laughable when you consider that earlier today I downloaded the full "_m" manual install using a real download manager at 450KB/s, twice. Interestingly, those two downloads were each of different sizes (2,044,219KB and 2,044,250KB) but they both failed anyway, the first to checksum errors and the second to data errors while extracting.
With the initial unsuccessful attempt at the 1.3GB patch this morning (unknown error, code 25) and the partial download I have in progress now using CCP's awfully slow "installer", that would be roughly 6GB I've downloaded today; over 5 of which has been for absolutely nothing.

I managed to find this link posted much earlier this morning in another thread. It's a Torrent file to download the manual full install of the Windows 32-bit client.

WHAT IT IS; A real Torrent file, that requires a real Torrent client (like BitTorrent or uTorrent) to process. if you don't already have a BitTorrent client, this file will do you absolutely no good.
WHAT IT'S NOT: The kludged-together homegrown EVE downloader that pretends to be a Torrent client, that's linked to from the EVE download page.

Went to open the eve client and begin auto patching process, what do you know 10 KB/s??? What a joke, total download time over 35 hours. My connection speed in 24 Mega Bit.
Finally found the fallback installer which is the full build which I am currently downloading at 250 KB/s with a download manager, 3 hours which is bearable. CCP you guys have to fix this, I will not be happy if I find myself with a broken installer.

Great. My broadband is hosed, and I have to try and use dial-up to download 1.3gb... And it won't continue a previous download, so I have to try and keep a dial-up connection for approximately six days. Without dropping.
So I try and download the patch with a download manager in hopes that I CAN continue after an interruption, it ends up being the 900K auto-patcher again, which then goes on its merry way sucking my will to live all over again. There's no actual patch file, just that stupid downloader? So I can't even have somebody download the @#$% thing for me?!?
And this is before I've had a chance to worry about the CRC errors people are complaining about. Who thought that thing was a good idea? Or finished, even?

I'm about to cop the same thing... I got like 7 gig download left ffs! This is becoming a ridiculous line of fixes/patches/builds If they can't get it right the first time why put it out there? There are gonna be alot of angry people wanting refunds after this one I think.

I'm trying to get Eve working again on my Mac. Nobody (CCP) hears my cries, but here's the list anyway:
1. Tried autopatcher yesterday, failed. Posted on forum, CCP responded with "wait till we tell you, after 12:00"
2. Waited till 14:00 when CCP said, autopatcher failed. Posted on forum, CCP responded with "Get manual download from web page."
3. Started download of evepremiumpatch75883-84063-mac.tgz ~2.2GB, posted to thread asking if this was the right path, CCP responded "yes".
4. Halfway through the download, hours and hours later (slow BW at my current location), the download stopped. After some digging I discovered the file was removed from the server. (Thanks)
5. Wanted to post to the Mac patch online thread - gone.
6. Went to the patch page on web again, the file is now called evepremiumpatch75883-84244-mac.tgz ~2.2BG. Started download. Will only see tomorrow (did I mention slow BW?) if it worked.
I understand the file actually comes from different servers depending on where you request it from. I'm downloading from 68.142.101.7. Just hope the file isn't broken on 'my' server like many of you are experiencing, else I have to download the whole darn thing again, and again, and again... (cries!!) (I can just hear you guys saying "you poor twit..."  )

Yeah, shame on you for posting a useful link.
'Cause now it's a 404 error page, and unreachable at least by uTorrent.
Meanwhile, is there an answer on the previously called "Premium Lite" version.
Does it actually exist or is it just the Premium version with everything on low?
I could swear earlier announcements of Apocypha said we Classic users would be upgraded to Premium-Lite, not screwed over and left to whistle in the wind and maybe use the lowest settings on the full Premium Content client.
(Not that I'm frustrated with this mismanaged mangling of a Patch Day, or bitter about the Dev treatment so far ;))
EDIT: Other possible cause of bitterness:
I've been trying to file a petition about this for the last three hours.
All I get is a hanging progress bar after hitting submit -- at least until the browser gets tired and times out.
So much for 'support'.
Yeah, just a little frustrated and bitter.

I just got this from CCP in reply to my petition I'll let you know if it works but for everyone else here is the run down.
Hi.

If you are having problems downloading the patch either manually or using the autopatcher there are a few alternatives for you.
Windows:
1. Bittorrent.
You can download and install this small program that downloads the client for you

2. You can download the full patch and full client manually ( these are direct links to the 2Gb+ files, not the 915kb files that download the patch/client for you )

If downloading the patch or full client manually has failed for you consider using a download manager to see if that helps.

Install the .dmg file as you would do with any other Mac program.

- EXECUTE IT. Surprise ! If you read the window you'll notice it says "Welcome to the EVE-ONLINE setup wizard" and not "Welcome to the EVE-ONLINE update wizard,

ok this actualy worked for me....i tryed to do it with out deleteing the eve file and that didnt go well at all...got the same error...point in fact im on line now!!!
you ahve to delete the eve file if not this dont work at all....i have been at this for 18 hours...and thanx to TriStar3x this actualy worked...use this post to DL the patch....AGIN YOU HAVE TO DELETE THE EVE FILE!! C:/programs/CCP/ open the CCP file and delete the eve file in it and your good to go...thanx TriStar3x!!!
