I just spent 4 hours downloading a whole new version of the eve client to find out that the files in the download are corrupted. I have a skill to change in about a week. Could you fix this whole thing before I need to change skillz? I work full time and I go to college full time,(working on my accounting degree). I rarely get a full night off and I just spent it downloading 830 megs or so of software that doesn't work. Could you please plan a little better next time? I don't get a lot of time off from real life and I would prefer to spend it enjoying myself. I didn't tonight.

I see I am not the only one having problems. Also, is an upgraded video card required for this? I saw someone earlier saying they got the client downloaded but found out that they couldn't play because their card didn't support shader 2? I am going to wait til Friday to try and download again unless someone stops me from wasting my time. I was going to renew my subscription for the next year. Good thing you launched this now because if it doesn't work for me Friday, I am Ghandi like the Mahatma! Awesome game! So awesome no one can play it lol! :)

Just hope the file isn't broken on 'my' server like many of you are experiencing, else I have to download the whole darn thing again, and again, and again... (cries!!)  (I can just hear you guys saying "you poor twit..."  )

The misery continues:
7. Finished downloading the patch (2nd time, 15 hours later) tried to un-archive, get "Error 2 - No such file or Directory". Aaaarrrrrgggghhhhh!!!!!
8. Started downloading http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/mac/eve-premium_002289_84244_mac.dmg ~2.3GB from 68.142.101.7. Yet another 15 hours of waiting time. Nooooo!!!!

Another night of misery.
I have spend 4 hours downloading the client and again i get the message that says, some the files are corrupt?
Needless to say i had the same problem when i tried to upgrade from QR to Apocryfa.
That was my 4 try and CCP, this is hopeless.

Yeah that was me with the problem, anyone have a solution to being able to run the new graphics??? it just wont let me even open the starter page after a successful DL, i was so excited and all to see what the new game was like and to fight some real npc opponents  , why ccp why did you do this, keep the old graphics for those of us who cant use the 'premium' graphics

well , first of all , i play from INDIA. i have a 128 kbps ADSL connect and usual d/l speeds are upto 15 KBps thru direct downloaders and upto 19 KBps thru torrent . > i am not complaining about speeds as this what i have and what i can afford !
what i am trying to convey here is the total unreliability of CCP.
here is the sequence of events that happened to me ( all times are in IST - Indian Standard Time { + 5.30 hrs GMT } as i have no patience to convert it to gmt for ccp > do it yourself )
1. ) i first started the client patching through the auto updater that starts when we start the client at about 6 pm (18.00) on 10. march - this was for the 1390 MB patch (1 of 3 patches from 75883 ) said it would take 27 hrs so , i just switched off screen and went about real life. the next day ( 11 . march ), there was a powercut and when i restarted my pc , the 800 mb i had downloaded till then had disappeared , although there were re[orts that the autopatcher will resume from where we had left off < a lie !!!
2. ) so , on 11 . march , after the powercut , i decided to manually download the enite client from the website. and what do i end up with ? the old QR 75883 EXE FILE . as i didn't have any choice , i started downloading the same client i used to have ( i had to uninstall the previous client as the autopatcher messed up the client after the powercut ) at about 2 pm (14.00 ) india time .
while the d/l was going on , i kept checking the download page for latest build and also the forums for any clue and saw that many were in the same boat.
3. ) then at about 1 am (01.00 india time) on 12. march , when i checked the download page , i saw that a 84244.exe was available . so , i cancelled the 75883.exe i was downloading and started on the 84244 build , but it was only a 1400 KB file and to my horror , i found that it was the annoying direct downloader ( nullsoft v 2.44 ) which started up and started downloading files into my C:/ drive .
i got so furious at this , that i pressed the cancel option and got a " download manually " option in that downloader window. when i click on it , i am taken to ,
http://www.eveonline.com/download/?fallback=1 where i see a 84244_m.exe file.
so , i start this and to my relief , i FINALLY GET THE MANUAL VERSION OF THE LATEST FULL BUILD that gives me the option to pause & resume as i like . so , currently downloading the client , although slow - slow in relative terms > 12 KBps as compared to a normal speed of 15 KBps - still about 24 hours to go but atleast i have total control over the download and it wont disappear when i have a powercut and it bludy won't place files in my c drive !!!
NOW COMING TO MY POINT ( CAPS INTENTIONAL ) , I HAVE NO QUALMS ABOUT THE SPEED AS IT DEPENDS ON MY BANDWIDTH BUT WHAT ABOUT THE PATH ? WHY COULDN'T YOU JUST MAKE THE FULL FINAL CLIENT AVAILABLE ON UR WEBSITE AND GIVE CLEAR LINKS TO PEOPLE WHO WANT TO EITHER DOWNLOAD MAUNUALLY OR THRU THE AUTOUPDATER ?
ccp , WHO ARE YOU TO FORCE ME TO PLACE FILES ON MY C DRIVE ? THAT DRIVE IS ONLY FOR THE OS . YOUR USELESS AUTOUPDATER DOESN'T AUTOSAVE AND PLACES EVERYTING IN THE /TEMP FOLDER AND EVERYTHING IS LOST IN THE EVENT OF A POWERCUT .

compared to your standards , many korean mmo's ( not mentioning any names ) are more competent and atleast their patching & downloading options are smooth ( i hate korean games but sadly they do a better job than you - and they introduce patches every week or fortnight and each is like at 200 MB and they have way more players than eve !!! )

It sucks.
So, Tueday, I ran my client, and the auto patch started as was supposed to. I know i've got a slowish link (The BT Exchange will not support anything above 0.5meg, but the best dl-speed I've seen is about 60kbps), so I expected to be downloading the patch for 9-12 hours. I went to bed and left it running.
In the morning: tears. The download had fallen over. The game wouldn't patch. So I visited the EVEonline site and saw - behold, a torrent download. So, even if my crappy link fell over, i'd still have the "bits" already downloaded. I went to work and left it running.
In the afternoon: tears. The download had again fallen over, but amazingling CCP's torrent was no torrent at all, just a different downloader, and all data recived thus far had been lost. (Utterly unacceptable to call a direct download a "torrent" - really CCP, this is a pitchfork and burning torches moment.) So, thought I, "Steam is the way ahead" - I've downloaded big games from them before, and no problem, despite my slow-assed link. (Half Life 2, for instance. Come to think of it, I never had problems downloading big WoW patches either from Blizzard!) I left Steam running and went back to work.
In the evening: tears. Steam had downloaded the game, but horrifyingly it was an old build of QR! Glad to see CCP had shared the latest client with thier online providers, I shed more tears, logged into my new QR client, and said, yes, carry on with the autopatch again. I went to bed.
In the morning: tears. The big patch had downloaded - despite my crappy link - but told me it was incompatable with my current build, and that I should manually download the latest build from CCP.
I'm now downloading the latest build directly. I have a machine that will run the new client. I'm praying for a stable download, because if it fails a 4th time, I'm going to cry and press the cancel sub button, and that'll be really sad.

Considering the experience of patching etc. that they have, downtime evey day day! The organisational skills of the ccp team leave much to be desired. They are a complete bunch of muppets. It is only our stupidity that keeps us playing. Imagine this bunch trying to sort out a game with the player base of wow!!
How long has eve been running and only 45 k players, says something really.

The auto patcher worked on my vista laptop but it failed to download on my XP PC.
I tried the full install. But the installer has exactly the same problem. I says it temporarely can't downloud the files. Ihave been tryiong for two days now

Autopatcher: no go. I figure fine, I need to redo my overviews anyway so I download the full client FROM CCP'S WEBSITE, and guess what, when I try to install it it says its corrupted. GG CCP.
So now I'm downloading the torrent version, maybe you guys got that version correct?
And to add a bit of usefullness to the flame, I'm running XP SP2, perhaps that is my 'problem'.

Ok I found it, and the problem is very simple.
This latest version of eve, is trying to connect to the interenet in ways that my firewall doesn't accept. This wasn't a problem ever before, so it's the new build.
This goes for the patcher as well as the installer and the client.
I tell my firewall to accept it, like it always did. But now EVe doesn't get trhough.
I use the old "Tiny personal firewal" small but effective and this is the first time it has problems with a program. Sothe problem lies with the last build of eve.

I must usee Autotunnel GG to connect to any server.
So i stating up EVE via Autotunnel, i think it can male same problem as ur firewall.

Well, the story goes on. I posted here on the first day the unusable patch was released and I can see from the forum that nothing appears to have changed. I am 63 years old and probably one of the older players in the game. I don't have the patience of some of you guys to try all of the work around suggested nor do I intend to as I think that the failure of this patch is the responsibility of the company and that they should FIX THE PROBLEM unless their intention is to encourage the purchase of the boxed issue. If they lose a few thousand players as a result of this they will soon be replaced by others and if they keep them for a year until the next patch fails they will still have reaped a windfall. So......I am now trying to download the full version and if that does not work.......hasta la byebye eve.

Good sound advice and it may or may not work.... which is precisly why I am not even going to bother trying.
I pay CCP to play thier game which I enjoy so much I have three accounts, I do not expect to have to "work" at getting the patch to download and feck about getting it to run.
I just want one file I can download at a reasonably faster speed than the 56KB that it seems to be throttled at, like in the old days, click link for patch, download patch, run exe file job done.
Been trying to get the damn thing downloaded now since Tuesday, the cynicle side of me keeps telling me that this is CCP's way of making us buy the boxed retail version.
Been playing this game since day one and have never had this much hassle before, even when the game was rolled back once was nothing compared to this.
Please CCP, get a single file sorted out that can be sucked down from a nice fast FTP site.
BTW just noticed the latest attempt to downlod the client has failed again... from work where we have an incredibly fast tinternet connection

Come on CCP, 2 days now and still no solution. I think it's simple. There are people logged on, so obviously everyone didn't get corrupted files. So, just go back to whatever source copy you have that works. Make a "zip" file. Forget all the CRC stuff you put in. And give us the files. Sounds simple, right?
Also did you check to see if this is happening in only a certain region? If so, which server serviced that region? Re-upload a working installer to that server. Sounds simple again, right?
Better yet, give us the addresses of ALL the mirrors and let us choose which server to download from. I would download from a server on the moon if I knew the file would work for a change. So, far I have tried 10 times and nothing.
I tried to delete the old directory, nothing. I tried a complete reinstall, nothing. I tried to install an older version and update it again, nothing. I tried to directly decompress the files with 7z, it didn't work, but I did find out something that should help.
It seems that the culprit is a list of 13 files that are corrupt. When decompressed I got an error message and empty files which caused the program to crash right after the splash screen. There was no way to decompress these files separately that I could find due to the error messages. If you just zip these 13 files I suspect I should be up and running, provided the Checksums donĘt become an issue.
The 13 files are:

You only need to patch one client :)
Once you have one working client just copy the installation folder across your network then. I've been playing for five years and I've copied the Eve folder from machine to machine dozens of times. You might lose some settings in the process (like BM folders) but the client will run.

Is the bulkdata issue ever going to be resolved? If I see 37/39 one more - - - - time I swear I'm going to admit myself into a mental instituition! Not fair that eve worked after downloading the game tuesday evening and then the next day we can't log in. Nice game ccp! Now can you make it so that I can play it? Oh and btw that 3 step process to download the bulkdata oursevles should be explained out a bit better for folks like myself who can barely turn the computer on! tyvm

I've been looking at the new visual effects, and must say I am impressed...
However, there seems to be an issue with the animation sequencing or something, as they'll seem to abruptly go between looking barely active to fully active. If this is a reactionary thing to, say, weapon impacts or such, I suppose I could understand, but it just seems a bit too 'jerky'.
This isn't a priority, of course... it's a very cosmetic feature compared to the problems some people have been having with the skill queues, sounds, and crashes near gates for whatever reason... but it should still be on the list to be fixed somewhere down the line.
Also, I recommend for future reference that maybe the player base's computer builds should be surveyed in the future before major decisions on requirements limitations are made? I know Valve does this every now and then to update their 'average gamer' test machines, and keep track of the info for public knowledge.. I really do now wonder how many EVE players really did rely on Intel Integrated Graphics to run their EVE client!

I've done this sort of thing as well, but you should also copy the directories in the Documents and Settings or Users directory around, as well. Those are probably where the BM folders are stored, too.

Hi Ive got the patches and installed them and was playing earlier today without problems. The problem I have now is that I can't get back into the game, I get stuck on the entering game as ...... screen after the character selection till it lags out and dumps me back at the selection screen. This has been goin on all afternoon and I've tried it on 2 pcs. My character is in a very quiet system in black rise and so I don't expect that that is the problem. I just want to know if this is a recognised issue or if there is some other problem. Like I say, I was in earlier today without issues and I'm sure your servers are very busy but it's been going on all afternoon and no-one else I have spoken to has the same problem. Some info would be great as to what is going on.
