Iceland must be in dire shortage of competent IT and Management "Professionals" if such a MASSIVE (over 100% now) deadline overrun does not even garner an apology to paying customers.
You fail, but luckily your game doesn't.
Thats one of the most sane and @object post in here, so expect alot of asskissing ccp to throw it back at you.

You're amazed that Eve players assumed a basic level of competence at CCP. I doubt the point you are thus making was quite the one you intended. Yes, it's a complex task, but CCP's inability to come up with a realistic ETC is simply not good enough.
I haven't read every post in this topic, but the majority of the complaints are not, as you seem to think, about the length of time the changes are taking but the overrun. If CCP had originally given an ETC of 23:00, you would be making a valid point. They didn't. You aren't.
CCP, like any other gaming company out there, is going to put out their best (case) estimate. They are very rarely accurate. Therefore people are quite naive to believe them. That was my point. I expect a bit more wisdom, or at least cynicism, out of the Eve crowd.
As for the first part, you are right, I could have worded that a bit better.

Quote: Perhaps in Iceland not keeping a promise is not a big deal, but EVE is international product and many people won't tollerate that. It's just very unprofessional.
See my above remark. (With an added: They never promised. Stated a time, possibly considered "giving their word" at best, but never did they promise.)

Oh i cant wait to read the forums when the servers go down for normal dt 2moro. Thats if they get them up anytime soon.

1-unplug all 2-move all 3-plug all 4-try to figure out which cord is not plug at the right place 5-Edit this post to tell people server is back online
It take time, YES They always tell server will be back at UTC X-hour, YES It's often reported, YES
But who know the work it represent to move those kind of server? Not much of us.
For anything else --> MasterCard XD
fly safe guys hummmm well when we will be able to go back IG :P
Try to understand COMPETENT server migration 1. set up new hardware and test connections BEFORE shutting old server down. 2.On migration day test new hardware to ascertain no connections are bad 3.perform migration. 4.Boot new cluster up and run diagnostics 5. open for connections and lastly 6.Profit??? They weren't just moving the old server hardware buddy, they were migrating eve to a new farm with updated servers

You have to pull each rack out, install power, network, do your cross links, hook up no less than 4 cables per server and cut your hands on sharp metal edges. This isn't "A" server, it is a cluster of servers. It isn't like you just move one unit and your done. Now keep in mind they are also overhauling their existing network as well. Frankly, doing it under 72 hours seems like a dream.
Come on, this is Iceland! Surely Magn·s Ver Magn·sson and J=n Pßll Sigmarsson could do this in normal DT?

Someone on the FB thread said that CCP should practice "Scotty Time". In that, say you know a job is going to take 3 hours. You give an estimate of 6 just in case something unforeseen comes up, so you're not going over the 6 hour estimate. And if/when you do it in 3 hours, you look like a god to your bosses and the people you're servicing. -----

For anyone complaining:
This is an immense undertaking and even that is a gross understatement. Even if they slip 12 hours from the original schedule, it will have gone amazingly fast! And tomorrow when you are playing again, you won't even notice a day has gone by as you be on the eve drug again :)

The noticable thing is for capital industrial ships before dt it was around 38 days now its 46 days, other example is gallente carrier 5, before 42 days now 56 days..
I hope this is just due to the fact that server is not up yet!
anyone else notice the same bug ?

For all those whiners out there, please read the EULA and ToS:
Quote:
EULA: 11 PROPRIETARY RIGHTS , B. Rights to Certain Content You have no interest in the value of your time spent playing the Game, for example, by the building up of the experience level of your character and the items your character accumulates during your time playing the Game. Quote: EULA: 12. NO WARRANTIES

While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. The System may become unavailable for a number of reasons, including without limitation during the performance of maintenance to the System, for the implementation of new software, for emergency situations and due to equipment or telecommunications failures.
Quote: TOS: CCP MAY FIND IT NECESSARY ON OCCASION TO MAKE CHANGES TO OR RESET CERTAIN PARAMETERS OF THE PERSISTENT GAME WORLD MECHANICS, INTERFACE OR FEATURES OF EVE ONLINE IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN GAME BALANCE AND ENHANCE PLAYABILITY OR PERFORMANCE FOR ITS SUBSCRIBERS. EULA 11 does not apply here. As 11 constitutes the supposed value of characters and items in game, and if you have access to them.
12 is closer :) But wouldn't hold up in court.
I understand people are upset about not getting online, ive seen it on many MMO forums, WoW's being the worse of the lot due to the number of players.
But since EvE is based on day unit's in a subscription and not hours, then if any downtime occurs that exceeds 50% of that time, in this case 12hrs+, then people are entitled to compo. Tis the law :)
Im sure CCP will be happy enough to give out 1 day to each account that is currently active.

thats a great plan, if your moving to new servers. but ccp aren't. They are MOVING the servers to a differant room. Once in said new room, they will upgrade PARTS of their set-up.
