Also I canÆt believe you relied on face book for your updates, that gave us hardly information apart from your bloody estimated deadlines which you have broken many of times since IV been paying for your services, also how Fc.uking lazy is it to rely on a forum for information from devs so lazy.
IÆm sure your multi million dollar company could of thrown up a tempury website which provided us with proper updates. For future downtimes scrap the estimated times and make out your offline for 2 days+ and finish before and everyone will love you for it.
I usually the person in the threds thatÆs like good job ccp but hold on a sec you taking the P1ss out of us.
For anyone who things IÆm stupid or what ever. what if you bought a $1000 Rolex watch and it broke the first day you had it, and the bloke behind the counter told you to file a petition, or check face book for information how to return it or log on there forum and wait to speak to a dev. They should I hope have good customer skill/relations to sort your problem out.
And now this topic how many Devs reply to you we all no not many.
My rant is over CCP sort yourself out train your staff in customer Service/support and for god sake kill the estimated deadlines
You should probably spend your subscription money on therapy instead of gaming.
If you are not satisfied why the **** are you still here? go play world of warcraft or something like that. I was told Customer Service there is awesome.
Quote the wrong person or do you just fail at reading comprehension? b/c I have no problem with the downtime.

CCP's biggest issue here, as with all the upgrades that have taken place, is not the complexity, nor the issues/faults that are found that cause the delays a lot of players moan about.. their single biggest issue is that they do not seem to be able to manage expectations.
As has been said earlier in this thread and others over the years, accurate timescales for completing any given task can be notoriously difficult to predict.
CCP, for a move of this complexity you should have just said "Tranquility will be down from xx:xxhrs UTC and will be back up 12-24 hours later. We will keep you updated every 2 hours from xx:xxhrs+10 UTC and will notify you immediately Tranquility is accepting connections."
Players would then expect downtime of at least 12 hours, while knowing that it may extend to 24 hours. I believe most players would then expect Tranquility to be offline 24 hours and would plan according, and would be happy if it came back before then.
Just saying...

Edited by: Dasola on 23/06/2010 21:34:27 Well dear ccp movers or who ever did this move. I would like to propose you to take Star Trek Scotty main engineer aproach next time. You take punch of poeple that really knows that stuff and get realistic estimation how long it takes. Then you simply douple that. That doupled time is what you tell out to your customers: "Please be prepared atleast 12 hours downtime.....".
If you do it under, you get to gloat that miracle worker shine over your staff badges and customers are happy since you made it under the deadline.
Benefits: Gives you extra time sort problems without getting angry customers.
When things go smooth you get plenty happy customers.
PS. something would be nice to get for that extra 6 hours of donwtime, since you fellows failed to estimate propelty time it needs. And im paying customer with multiply accounts. Dont need to be gametime, i would be happy for all accoutns to redeem survival of tyranus cluster move, special medal made/granted by ccp.

The same comment could be made about regular DT, why not swap it around so that it's in the middle of the US day. I have always found this DT to be really annoying.
We are all paying customers and should get similar service!
Because the servers are where and where are the people who are doing the server move?
That was a clue.

Feel free to use that tip in the future.
you could just.. you know... stop your *****ing and wait like the rest of us. At least CCP is trying to do something about their lag. And to the rest of you! If you wanna keep your *****ing on, go play in traffic for breakfast. Do the world a favor.
He does have a point. How CCP managed to go 8 hours over their schedule beats me. That's a full work day. 14 full hours to do something predicted to take 6 hours. They more than doubled the expected time.
Sh*t happens, mate. Seriously. Deal with it. Go read a book or something and wait to see if TQ is back online. All this b*tching just proves that people are far too obsessed with virtual reality. REMEMBER: THIS IS A F*CKING GAME! GET OVER YOURSELVES!!!

I get the impression a lot of people here don't understand how hard it can be to migrate such a huge amount of data from one place to another. There are bound to be problems along the way. You have done well to only be 8 hours over schedule.
You have my appreciation for going to all this trouble to increase the speed of the services you offer.

The only reason why so many people are complaining is that CCP is a major company and that they have to provide their service at all times or reimburse. Take a look at Dedicated Servers Hosting Services, they do reimburse you when your server encounters an unexpected downtime or when they have to do maintenances.

A quick explanation of why CCP won't give you anything for downtime: 1)You were warned about it (and your an idiot if you thought it would be back up at 1500UTC on the dot) 2)Its in the ToS 3)Your skill training queue is still working through its schedule (which is a lot more than other game corps would do) 4)it cost about 0.51p or c per day. If your watching your budget THAT much, perhaps you shouldn't be subscribing to an online game in the first place.

Clearly some of you have no clue about what relocating a server like TQ involves. I suggest you take this opportunity to use a screwdriver and take apart the computer sitting in front of you. By the time you blow all the dust out of it, install a bit more DRAMM, and a new Graphics Card, Tranquility will be back up.
Clearly neither do CCP.

I truly hope none of have a problem whith your car when goging to see your parents in christmas. If there are like you, they'll surely dishinerit you for being late due to a totally unexpected problem. Or do you say "I'll be on 28 for xmas dinner" just in case?
This is the same. They had a problem they could not foresee, so it's taking longer than expected.

I have to say I'm amazed that there are people who play and understand eve that actually took the initial downtime estimate seriously. You have to have been idiot savants or extremely naive to think that this was going to go off without a hitch. Quit whining, go outside, go to the pub, whatever- it's your own idiotic fault that you wasted a day waiting for the server to come back up.
Personally, I'm back to listening to some of EveU's classes. They'll be back up when they are and... shock... there will be other issues to resolve after that. That's just the way things go with these types of moves, in my past experience.
It's a great game and a day or two lost for infrastructure upgrade is no big thing.

While I certainly understand unexpected events, I also understand certain nuances of customer service. We always underpromise and overdeliver. Our customer think we are gods because of that. Many other companies have adopted these stategies over the years, with Dell Computer being one of the most successful. As a concerned company, you want to give the most accurate estimate. You still **** people off it you miss it. Adapt the underpromise, overdeliver tactic and most of this thread disappears

You people are so ungrateful, it's disgusting really. Stand up, walk to the door, step outside, enjoy the real world. TQ is down, it's not the end of the world, let alone the end of the galaxy.
@ CCP: I did expect the 6 hour window for the move was cutting it a bit short however the communication during these extended downtimes has improved by a great deal. Very nice! Also, to the techies and devs working on the server move, and no doubt pulling several hours of overtime, a well meant thank you!
Very true, all of it and AI AI to the @ccp part
