Herewith some corrections to this threads first post:
Hello all,
We have "successfully" moved our Tranquility servers to their new location, and Tranquility is not scheduled to return to service in the near future. We did not really have a plan, but thought we would try to have the Web sites and Tranquility returned to service at 15:00 UTC, however, during the move we realised that we must have been too high to notice that we plugged the wrong cables into the wrong holes, somehow leading to network and SAN switch issues, which resulted in even further extended service return delay. We have "resolved" those issues, which is why the cluster is still down, and are pretending to work on returning Tranquility to service as quickly as possible.
Thank you all for your patience while we continue to hash up this necessary server move. We don't care that we have messed you around and that you are ****ed and forget about time reimbursement. The suck ups are still sucking our ****s, so **** you all :)

Guys, please calm down,
most of you are sitting at home and watching TV or something, the CCP guys are at work now in LONDON it's 23:30 (EVE-Time) so those guyes are there since 09:00 to give you less lags and less connection losses.
I'm an IT guy, and got my own company, i know how hard it is to move a Datacenter from one Geographical location to another, eve if you prepare EVERYTHING, there wil be still something that won't work lie broken switches, corrupted files and so on.
What do you want, EVE online before really finished and then crashing after 6 hours again, or do you want it set up how it's meant to be, and stable....
If you want an unstable game, full of dumbasses, where you have to pai for every expansion go and play WOW.

I can't believe all these people complaining about the delay and "shocking customer service". This was no small feat! I, for one, am psyched about the upgrade. This is going to be siiick.

Edited by: Vexxas Tarokin on 23/06/2010 22:42:56 Edited by: Vexxas Tarokin on 23/06/2010 22:41:44 It always amazes me how many trollers and nubs sit here posting that CCP should double their estimates, when setting times for their SW/HW updates and upgrades. Maybe it's because they understand that they will get just as many trollers saying "WTF I work in the industry and it doesnt take that long." Cheers CCP for getting as far as you have in this feat and only having switching issues.

I find people who have no idea how difficult it is to physically move a server from A to B and then bring it back online - safely - with all your account information and data intact actually is will always complain about the length of time and shocking customer service. Perhaps they prefer that CCP had rushed to getting it back online and people found their accounts missing and a whole variety of other things that can go wrong in a server move.
Quit complaining and grow up. It's not the end of your world (though perhaps it is for some of you?)

CCP,
I for one would like to take the time to say thank you to all those at CCP who took the time, initiative, planning and expense to improve our overall experience.
Afterall they could have used the funds reserved for this project on something else.
Now please QQ some more ye ungrateful ones, it entertains the masses.
Cheers

I'm not expecting or requesting some kind of reimbursement. Hell, it's only a few hours, you're never gonna notice anyway, it just doesn't make a difference. What would be nice tho would for example be to give everybody that 100% training bonus new characters get for say....1 million SP. That wont cost CCP anything, and everybody can be happy with finishing something a bit faster. Also, it will minimize the loss for everybody who forgot to set a long training skill (not me, I have long skills set ;) )

Well... as a dev... I love CCP. Blizzard is ridiculously silent during any outage or extended downtime. And you never hear why or how. I don't really know of any service providing company that gives so much information about the backend. I do wish I could get in my ship but you guys rock.

so you would rather they waste time telling you all how it should be getting fixed instead of using said time to actually FIX the problem.. lol

My only wish is that they would do like last time and use the old servers as a temp. sisi and make empire all 0.0 again the battles were great esp when the devs came out in enigmas and and were battling us 1 frig vs 15 bs and hacs and we were still taking major damage

I'm afraid the "it's only a game" and "it's only 50c" arguments both fail.
It is "only" a game. Or, to put it another way, it's a leisure activity. Now, I may be weird in this respect, although I rather hope not, but I happen to value my leisure time quite highly. Rather more highly, in fact, than I value that time I spend getting paid. Not least because, if my paid job is disrupted, through no fault of my own, I still get paid. If my leisure time is disrupted, by contrast, I do not necessarily succeed in still having fun. In addition, if someone disrupts my work day, I get to fire them, or cancel their contract.
Of course, I could have planned other leisure activities for today. In fact, I did. However, given that CCP informed us that the server would be back online at 15:00, it was far from unreasonable for me to plan to spend the latter portion of today's meagre ration of leisure time playing Eve. It is also not unreasonable for me to be disappointed and angry at being unable to do so.
I could cancel my contract with CCP, but that would hurt me more than it would hurt them. The bottom line is the unusual economics of the MMOG industry (large numbers of players paying a very small fee for a very expensive and very valuable product) mean that while we are undeniably getting excellent value for money, we are also undeniably not getting adequate customer service.
