Edited by: manidu on 24/06/2010 15:37:52 EULA 12. [...] # While CCP attempts to have the System available at most times, CCP does not guarantee that the System will always be available, or that the System will not become unavailable during Game play. The System may become unavailable for a number of reasons, including without limitation during the performance of maintenance to the System, for the implementation of new software, for emergency situations and due to equipment or telecommunications failures.
You all agreed to this when you created your account. Didn't read it? Your own fault. Now stop complaining about DT, would you? ;)
EDIT: This also means you cannot claim any reimbursement for that downtime! If we get one, it's only because of CCP's goodwill, and I wouldn't give us one after reading all this whining... |

This is actually a fairly good example to site when you are arguing for an extended training que. You only have 24 hours, yet the server has been down beyond that, of course one could argue "just put a long skill in." That, however, only works when you KNOW you will be away for a while, we were told it would last about 6 hours, so there was no worry. I am not actually one of the players, who lobbies for a longer training que, I am, however, lobbying that CCP, should definetly address the issue of lost training time and play time, especially for those who pay for a sub (which i don't) so again no bias.

Think about what you're paying for, really think about it. You're paying for a service that CCP provides, in the form of a game yes, but what you're really paying, is CCP employees paychecks, to keep this **** running, and improve upon that service.
Now, CCP is in the middle of bettering that service, in the form of upgrading the physical power of the server (get rid of lag, better staiblity, whatnot), and they're probably working their asses of right now, drenched in sweat, clutching their knuckles and running test after test to ensure this works properly and get rid of all the problems.
So, are you satisfied thinking that someone is working their ass of, to earn the money you pay him? I know I am. They're probably working harder than some of you have ever tried.
Sorry if I come across as an arogant prick, but all this whining really annoys me.

As I watch my characters skill cache time out on capsuleer and suffer eve withdraws I think of ways ccp can make this up to me. Maybe speed up trining time, maybe free skill points to be applied to skills I choose? Then as the withdraw starts to subside or maybe from being tired from waking up periodically through the nite to see if server is online, I realize... Think I may have a problem and it aint eve's fault... or is it? Please behead the JO incharge of this move and post video online.

i for one am glad its taking this long, yeah were not able to update skills and that but wouldnt people rather CCP did it right the first time then rushing it and messing it up?! at least with the time we know its definitly guna make things better! its not the end of the world just a minor inconvineance.

You are not. 1600 UTC (aka GMT aka Zulu time) = 1700 UK time during the summer months. UTC does not adjust for daylight savings. Nor, incidentally does South Africa or India... |

For all of you whining about lost skill training, you should have expected an extended, extended downtime. There is a reason why CCP says to put a long skill in before expansion. This I would have expected to take even longer, since they are physically moving the servers themselves.
And giving the players a free day is not uncommon, its been done before in the past.

Edited by: Hoboius Trevorian on 24/06/2010 15:41:04 The point is CCP are failing to even provide this service. If CCP were a proper business they would have ensured the new hardware were up and running before switching off the old hardware.

I put a 2 day skill in about 12 hours before the DT started, it finishes in 10 minutes!

give me my 2 days back for free and 2 days additionally as a gift Thouse 2 days are payed so the price is about 1$ for now as You know we have from 30.000 up to 50.000 players on line daily minimum. so if CCP will not give any compensation I would say 50.000 $ just stolen

Originally by: Tochimo I think what frustrates most people is that a company like CCP, who obviously know a lot about networking and computers would suggest that a massive, physical server move is only going to take 6 hours and go smoothly. There are times I lose internet for longer just because someone accidentally unplugs the modem at home, and when it all gets hooked up again, it just won't work till the next day. Computers and electronics can be fickle and moody. One wrong line of code can mean a serious crash with potential data loss. One bump on the move and some hardware can get jumbled and need maintenance.
On a side note, while the idea of EVEGATE and having as many services as possible available outside of the game is great, it seems like pretty poor planning to have your main websites (including CCPGAMES.com for those of you that checked yesterday) down most of the day just because it's all so integrated that one cannot be running without the other.
When all is said and done, though, CCP does deliver a better product and better services than any other MMO I've payed to play.
And for all you people who can only say "Blah blah blah get out and see th world" - TROLLS!
i have to agree with you.
most of the time the server is up and running and when there is something going wrong that causes a database error or a server freeze. people get frustrated at CCP.
so people keep in mind that the cluster which TQ is on is a huge system. and is very sensitive. i want the people who keeps naging about the littlest of things to try and setup this huge server that TQ is on and try to handle it yourself the way that CCP is doing it.
i think that CCP is doing a great job when it comes to maintaining the server and fixing issues when they occur.
and like tochimo said in his post the smallest thing can cause a computer or server to stop with what it is doing.
