I think it's safe to say that comparing CCP to a regular IT-firm, and the Incarna upgrade to a regular windows/linux server upgrade, is weak at best. Clearly the software and the architecture behind the game are much more complex than that. I doubt that it's not a case of "Click on install to upgrade to Incarna" for CCP.

I've been playing tihs game for around 7 years now, and every single time a major update comes out it is delayed. Before it used to be a small number of hours and I didnt mind, but this is just getting longer and longer with each update.
I am absolutely disgusted that a company in such a competitive market feels that its good conduct to treat their customers this way. I work as an IT Consultant, and if I was late or didn't keep my word, my word would very fast become worthless. CCP, you know people will continue to play your game, and so you feel that treating paying customers in this manner is ok. Not only is it poor business practice but it's wrong.
Just an example, I setup a skill to run which would allow me enough time to log back into the game in the two hours free I get per day, after DT and set another skill. Because of this delay that wont happen, thus I will be missing out on a full days worth of skill training.
Just to ensure that you get the point, this isnt just about losing skill times, I'm paying a good amount of money, more so than most other MMORPG's, and my gametime is being taken away because of your inability to stick to your word and do your jobs properly. If you are not going to be able to get an update out by the time you say, then you must start to factor this into your estimations. I would rather you say that servers will be down from 07:00 till 23:30 (and we all know it will be later than that) compared to 17:00, and then bump it forwards every hour or so.
Most people at a very young age learn how to manage their time and learn that sticking to your word is very important in life, and you, CCP, are acting like a teenager whom ignores both. I am truly dissapointed in how this business is being run and your treatment of customers is negligent.

I've been playing this game for around 7 years now, and every single time a major update comes out it is delayed some guy starts whining about it. Before it used to be a small number of posts, but now they just seem to be more and more, and longer and longer.
I am absolutely disgusted that a person playing a video game has the energy to brag about unimportant titles in real life, and how they would handle the stress of being on time with their insignificant work loads.
You will continue to play this game no matter how CCP treats you.
As an example, I log on the forums everyday to read something interesting, and end up reading your wall-o-whine regarding matters that no one will really take to heart. That is time I will never get back.
Just to ensure that you get the point, this isn't just about me being irritated in whiners like you, I'm spending good time on these forums, more so than most other forums, and my forum time is taken away because of your inability to wake up and smell the coffee, prepare for long downtimes with longer skill queues and do your research properly.
Most people at a very young age learn how to manage their time and learn that sticking to your word is very important in life, and you, CCP, are acting like a teenager whom ignores both. I am truly disappointed in how this business is being run and your treatment of customers is negligent. Most people at a very young age learn how to manage their forum posts and learn that keeping them accurate and short is very important in life, and you DarkestHeart, are acting like a teenager whom ignores both. I am truly disappointed in your lack of understanding and your treatment of other forum users.
You know skill queues can reach up to over 30 days right? Pick something longer then 4 hours during patch days.

Edited by: Antonius Sarum on 21/06/2011 21:16:43 I would like to take this moment to thank CCP for all their hard work and dedication in bringing this expansion and new era for New Eden to us, I hope you all get to go to the bar and drink many beers after work, thank you so much and I look forward to seeing what direction Incarna will take us. And for those of you that have spent your time complaining I would like to thank you as well, I've been guilty of raging over EvE Online many times myself and you've shown me what I probably looked like.
PS Please let us have all four racial CQs as soon as possible, I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want to get tetanus from their CQ.

I employ people to work for me and if CCP was working for me they would be out of a job. So you brown nose people need to take your heads from out of CCP's behind because unless you work for them, sticking up for them and making light of a serious mess wont get you any where. What has happened here is a disgrace, Blizzard did a seemless expansion that is a lot more complex than this one and did it with no downtime at all. As has been mentioned, this happens every time and CCP should be ashamed. 10 hours @ 12 million an hour = 120 mill lost, hint hint.
Looks like you need a pacifier too stop WHINING !
go help your ccp work mates get the patch working, and yes, many plp do work 16 hrs and more per day, so you stop whining and go do your job right

Just like you people who are whining should learn to manage their time and do other things than sit there and cry about a video game not being online. Go clean your basement fortress and cry about how no girl will ever be down there with you, or whatever you lonely nerds do when you can't play with your INTERNET SPACESHIPS
My got, you're right! My basement fortress is a bit messy.

And all their customers do is whine that it's taking too long. Yeah they know, they expected, well, hoped to be home by now. I'm off to bed. I hope it's up in the morning.
Well said. Three cheers for the guys at CCP!!!

EVE Online: Incarna 1.0 is currently being deployed. Database updates took longer than expected, and have performed additional updates to a level one mission arc. This has resulted in an extended downtime. We expect to open Tranquility to the players at 23:30 UTC. Thank you for your understanding.
I actually can not understand me living in Europe are not able to play entire day... expected to be online is 23.30 and that will be 1.30 am this is simply bull****, test the **** before you make changes to playserver

22:25 UTC Deployment is still underway. EVE Websites will return to service in 5 minutes and the expected time Tranquility will return to service is 23:30 UTC.

this makes no sense, it seems like they are saying it's 22.25 UTC and the forums will be up in 5 mins and TQ in 1 hour, but that msg went up at 21.25 UTC (it's actually 21.43 UTC now...
what does it all mean ??

You know what I love? The fact that, given 13 hours of downtime, all these people spent their time posting in the forums, rather than, say, going and playing other games, taking a walk, doing laundry, working, or any other of that useful ***gotry. To everyone here who's posted more than 4 times over the course of this thread (And not all at once): Congratulations. I award you the Golden Ibis of Dedication. Because instead of doing, well, anything, really, you stuck it out on the forums during DT.
Congratulations.
