Although thoughts go with CCP Pann, to bring her personal issues in here was unprofessional, albeit with good intentions.
The reaction to the Incarna 'expansion' was predictable, and the company behind it presumably predicted how to respond. But the current firestorm suggests otherwise. CCP, did you really think this through? No matter, you have enough junior employeee to deal with your **** on your behalf.
CCP are dissembling cowards. That's all.

Im little sarcastic actually. when it comes to eve players. Im affraid when they start to sell painted ships many of them will run to buy. Most of Eve players like show off, pasting their fits showing their ships. Most try to jump in faction ship at their 2nd month of startin eve. Im playin over year , and still I dont fly faction ship.

Bottom line is that these status symbols or vanity items should be about the old senior vets, the rich and the fabulous in Eve... not outside Eve! This game has no place for real life wealth to outweigh actual time and gameplay performance. Eve has always been about game mechanics, now you are telling your community that $$$ has more value than the game itself. Well, CCP... get your head out of your ass.
If you really want players to have elite status symbols, why not start by providing specific items to those have been active for 1 year, 2 years, 3 years... tie in to the AUR market some for of experience.
... and please do not EVER provide any items that will have an impact of actual game play! That alone is the biggest issue you are facing. Whoever made that decision has lost their mind!
