After 1.4 patch I get disconnected every 2 min now.
What the F*** is this games problem. Why on earth does it generate soo many simultaneous streams of data to be sent and received. OPTIMIZE it or get a new switch damn it. Now im ****ed.
You pay for a service to presumably enjoy a game. I dont dare leave the station for gods sake.

Edited by: Avid Amari on 20/03/2007 23:59:57 CCP are scratching their heads, because none of the network admins is a proper expert network admin. They say there is no patern to the problem,... hehe since when do computer problems have patterns to the untrained eye? (little sarcasm here)
Everyone is experiencing huge packet losses, why is this happening recently? It may be YOUR data center and YOUR ISP screwing things up, not ours.
PLZ hit them on the head with something, for all our sake. Else you will get massive complaing, whining, confused people on your doorstep.

I have been playing a trial account for a few days now and have been experiencing intermittent disconnects. This evening it is particularly bad, after getting disconnected in the middle of a pirate fight I managed to get back on only to find myself in a pod with the wreck of my ship floating nearby. Since then I have tried a number of times but usually get disconnected less than a couple of minutes in. So far not a great motivator to keep playing I have to say.
PingPlotter is showing consistent packet loss in the fr3.lon.llnw.net domain. I am located on the west coast of Canada.

I have 2 accounts that disconnect after 3 mins idle. Not fun. My isp? dunno - IINET in Perth WAustralia Both accounts are recent installs on a new vista 64 system that has NOT missed a beat yet. I'm actually surprised. Just so you know, I dual boot(different hdd on xp) and the same thing happens.

When I first started playing trial account something more than 2 weeks ago, I had no issues whatsoever. Game was running smooth with an occasional disconnect (hardly any). Now like week ago, everything started happening. There was one patch, but I think they did something with the hardware allso.
I registered the game to full version, and Im thinking of not playing anymore.
It really doesnt matter what our ISP or where we live, we all have this problems and only common denominator in this equasion is their SERVER and mybe their connecton (ISP).

This is umbeliveable.
Yesterday I really thought it was fixed, I had no disconnects for hours (6 I think) non stop. Today in the morning allso.
But after todays downtime, they had to meddle with the HW and/or settings again, now Im getting disconnected every 5 minutes again.
I undock,.. black screen. DC I log back in, take a mission,... undock, phew I think, maybe was just a glich. I fly to system in Pulin. I warp into the mission lock on targets, deploy drones, boom. DC I login back again, lock targets, deploy drones,.. boom. DC I log back in again, Deploy drones, lock targets,.. guess what. DISCONNECT.
FIX the damn thing allready, if new hardware is causing this problems maybe its whined too tight, maybe some protection/filter parrameters are too strict about packets or I dont know what. Figure it out. I dont want to bang my head every day and be mad at you and to foolishly suggest me its my ISP and such, cause Ive called them and everything checks out. Been down that painfull road for the whole past week, ever since your new soo called NEED FOR SPEED initiative started ruining my day.

I will be adding myself to the diconnecting list, seems to happen to all big online games every once in a while, but quite frankly, if the problem persists over more than a week or two, and after my complete reinstall, I will just stop being a paying customer.

Updating my router firmware fixed the problem for me. those of you with a linksys router that are having this problem, look into updating the firmware. apparently one of the recent patches did something that disagrees with the old firmware.

Seems this problem has ups and downs for me. Lately Ive had many headaches over this. Then all of asudden my problem ceased. I was able to play efortlessly for more than 6 hrz. then the next day after server downtime, I was back in disconnecting bussiness. Then after one more petition (some hours later actually) disconnecting issue stopped all of a sudden. now Im playing without disconnects for 1.5 days allready.
I wont ask what they did, honestly I dont care as long as I receive service everyone else enjoys. I know this single server is a monstrous project and must be hard for everything to work as it does. And Im glad this issue resolved for me (nothing changed on my side of the line tho).
Cheers.

Still keep disconnecting WAY more than ever before.
It's not my ISP (i checked) It's not my router (latest firmware installed - no firewall blocking or any such) It's not my pc (antivirus - anti spy/malware stuff installed, all latest XP patches etc) It's not my sound settings (everything is turned off in eve) It's not my gfx settings (everything is updated with the correct latest drivers)
FFS CCP FIX the disconnects. Don't pretend nothing is wrong when there's a 400 posts thread on your own forum saying THERE IS ! |

I'm constantly being disconnected while docked. Most of the time outside it's ok, but when docked - even if I'm looking at the market or doing something with my items, if I stay docked for more than a minute or so it will disconnect me. It's very annoying.
At least it's only when docked for me I guess. I've heard awful stories from others about disconnects while warping into a massive battle and then coming back to a pod :(
Disappointing to see how old this topic is and that still nothing has been done about it.

Edited by: Dei on 31/03/2007 15:04:50 I noticed that here CCP states that a ping of over 180ms will get constant disconnects. I checked, and I keep getting a ping of 188ms when pinging the server ip - due to someone else on the network surfing the interwebs.
I think most people's problems are high ping tbh, if they lifted the threshold to 220ms it might solve some peoples problems.
However, I have 2 clients running most of the time, and I find that when having one idling in station, and one doing something like travelling, the one in station will disconnect but not the other. It's like they have an anti-idling feature... ---

I'm not sure if anybody has said this already but i'm not reading through 14 pages to see, so apologies if i'm repeating info...
I had this problem for several weeks and it turned out to be my Nvidia firewall on my motherboard. I only figured it out when i realised that ALL my downloads were getting corrupted. I switched back to windows firewall and haven't been disconnected since.
Now if I can only stop this incessant flickering!

I have max 50 ping to CCP server and I get disconnected every 5 minutes.
STILL my issue isnt resolved. Im fighting with this for more than 20 days now, And of those 20 days Im not playing for 15 days, because I cant. I will cancel my subscription, Its kinda pointless paying for a game you cant play.
They kinda gave up on me after I thought my probs were gone, but theyre back with a vengance. I dont even bother to contact support no more, cause they have no clue and they would have me run PingPlotter all day and such then telling me contact my ISP. Done that 3 times allready and everything checks out, Im getting nice connection to 87.237.38.200 with average ping 43.
I said many times and Ill say it again; It all began 1 patch before 1.4.
Theyre clueless,... thank you very much. BYE EVE, Im goin LOTRO

Edited by: Avid Amari on 03/04/2007 17:51:31 OK I found a SOLLUTION.
Took me countless hours and some headaches and yelling at CCP who were not to blame, nether is my ISP. The problem seems bizare at first glance, but its totally verified and tested (repeatable beyond any doubt).
My setup: I hope all who have this issue can identify yourself with this allso. My gaming PC is far from remarkable. It consists of AMD XP 2k CPU, nVidia geforce 6800GT, 1.5 Gb RAM, 450 Gb RAID disks, nForce 2 chipset motherboard, Audigy 2 sound card and im running Windows VISTA. I have 2 PCs connected to my Netgear router which is then connected to my Motorola Cable modem 2000/256. Mediocre gaming machine which served me for 2 years and I hope to squeese some 6 more months out of it.
CAUSE: OK cause of my disconnecting issue is laughable because If everything in this world would be ideal, the problem wouldnt exist in the first place. Its fact P2P programs such as Emule, Torrent programs and such have a high demmand on router resources by making too many simultaneous connections at any given time, causing router to overload. Todays commercial (all sub 100$) routers werent meant for such a beating. What do I mean by this? Well router has onboard CPU to process the streaming data flow and RAM to memorize incomming and outgoing connections to a route table. This route table is quite limmiting when it comes to P2P programs such as uTorrent for example. How soo? Well Torrent programs make way too much connections, which fills up the route table quite fast and CLOGS it up, leaving very little to none resources available for other processes (let it be browsing, gaming or internet radio/video). Well such is the case that Games, and other streaming connections such as Internet radio/video require a very stable uninterrupted data flow as possible. Since uTorrent pounds at the router constantly, such stable data flow is impossible with these cheap routers where table corruption occurs because of insufficient ressources. Router just cant handle it because it lacks RAM to store all those requests of outgoing and incomming traffic.
SOLLUTION: Sollution is quite simple and straightforward. All you have to do is disable any such program from running (utorrent, emule, and other P2P sw). Then you have to physically unplug your router and modem from power for 3 minutes appr. (go make a coffe or something). First plug in the router and let it sit for 2 min, then you power on your modem and wait a bit for them two to sync up. Check if internet is working by opening google page or simmilar.
As stupid as this sounds my friends, its the holy trouth. It kinda suxx todays router manufacturers are skimping on the routers circuit innards, but lets be honest, they didnt have P2P programs in mind when they made those things. If you want a permanent sollution read on the reccomendation.
RECCOMENDATION: For all of you P2P lovers out there, who cant live without having it turned on for 24/7, read on. Well there are gamer routers and network cards out there. Why is this of any signifficance? Because these are specially build with best possible electronics and aditional onboard ram to cope with such issues and lag too. 2nd option you have which works best of all is you make your own router rig. Being a linux computer PC setup solely to act as a router. Have that baby configured as you please. Its prooven beyond any doubt that this setup works against lag and can cope with all and any P2P requests because it has more powerfull CPU (depends what CPU are you willing to use for this project), and enough RAM (depends how much ram are you willing to sacriffice).
OK, if you dont belive me, do your googling, cause Im tired and I simply dont remember the sites anymore. Been through too many. Bottom line is, my disconnecting issue is fixed, and I appologize to any CCP technician I might have caused gray hair over this.
Cheers.

One possible reason for this is if you are on a wireless router you may be losing your connection to your router from your computers adapter. This is commonly caused by interference from wireless phones and an assortment of other things.
WARNING only try this if you know what you are doing
one way to fix this is to change the channel your router/adapter is using. to check the way your channels are set up contact your manufacturer
example for Belkin routers

Edited by: chinefoo on 05/04/2007 15:42:02 99% of the issue is firewall / router ! settings change all the time just a little bit seems to confuse many routers and windoz firewall "loseit" there is a post in the foroms that speak in GREAT detail on setup and a setting that fixes all the issues explained. here for peeps on a network i used it and with a old vidio card have had absolutly no crash to desktops in 3 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now the voice thing is a dif issue no matter what happens it seems that after every patch a setting or protical from the server has thrown a packet at your comp that does not recognize it hence crashola if it wre a server disconnect then everybody would be down not a few alllllll its a client side problim and most cases its the router or firewall setting p.s haveing a wife with a masters in network engenering also helps! she seen the issue in 2 mins after it happend on her comp and took her a grand tottal of 1 min to fix !!!! not to mention that p2p torrent thing is a major hog turn that off!

I just bought the game and am on my 30 day trial. I'm disconnecting like 5-6 times per session. Right now I've lost connection 4 times in a row and am unable to play. My internet connection is on solid during this time and no other services are interrupted and I can play other MMO games without this issue.
This is going to be a deal breaker for me, I can't subscribe to a game that I can't play. Any fixes for this? I'm using a router if that helps, but I've never had to tinker with router settings for an MMO.
Does anyone know of router settings I can add, port forwarding and such to resolve this issue? I'm not even going to play till I can find a fix, because I know my brand new ship will get destroyed if I attempt to fight lol.

It seems that there are different groups of individuals having disconnect problems, likely from totally different sources.
1) They can be disconnected at any time. 2) They are ONLY disconnected after going idle for more than a few minutes (<10 mins).
I'm in the 2nd group. I can play without no disconnects for hours on end. I dock up and go out to the fridge to grab a drink, quick bio, and come back then go to undock/check items/anything that involves receiving information and... connection lost.
As for the P2P fix, if that works it's unfortunate for those of us who don't and never had P2P programs installed.
They really need to get this idle thing fixed though. 45min of idle I can understand, but 3-5 mins of being idle is total annoyance - especially if you are sitting idle for PVP reasons (cloaked, etc)!! I need to train my cats to hit random keys into chat while I'm gone.

P.s TEX nobody can direct you due to your the only one who has access to your router and the brand if you go to search in foroms and type in router settings there is a great deal of info there! also look around in foroms there is someplace a very detailed topic on this !
Many times it is client side and it may be in this case. HOWEVER, this just started after one of the recent patches. I've played since 2003 with no issues. I've not changed my router settings since (this occurs even when bypassing the router). A large number of individuals affected after a recent patch lends towards something involving the network component of the game was changed and it's having negative interactions with a large group of user networks as a result.
It's not likely a bug since not everyone is affected, it's more likely that they changed network configs and it borked a number of individuals. As such, they should fix what they changed, or let users know what the problem is so they can attempt to remedy it themselves. Of which, neither has been done.

eh i dont know on that 130.000 subscriberes 25.000 online and only 10 to maybe 100 are having issues? or at least thats all that seem to know of the foroms hard to say. will ccp do a major patch doubt it. i seen a few have tryed to alter firewall settings please look at the info http://srch.eve-online.com/search?q=router+settings&filte r=0&getfields=page-topic&getfields=page-topic&sort=date%3AD%3AL%3Ad1&output=xml_no_dtd&client=default_frontend&oe=UTF-8&ie=UTF-8&proxystylesheet=default_frontend god thats a link from hell . anyway that link is here and ccp put it up there are like 10 topics on settings ! but to think unless many and i mean a lot of peeps have the problim ccp is not going to write more code for the few ! as soon as i find the detailed info i will post for you all but i do know that the last time i ga\ot a patch it did mess with a router port which i fig out right away ! so id say a few peeps have certian ports config for the game and those are the areas that need tweeking and im sure when found a few will be like yer kidding
