Edited by: Kaylee Coqua on 14/05/2006 21:04:21 I don't even really play anymore. I want to, but no can do. I just log in, set the training skill(if i make it before it crashes) and i don't even have to waste precious time logging out, it just crashes out few seconds later...
20 Euro for a 5 minute skill training game, way to go CCP, smartest way to earn money.

Incredible, i was able to play all day long without a single crash yesterday. Let's see if today is just as good, before i get my hopes up.

I am also see disconnects about once every 30 minutes. I know its not my ISP, we have an O3 line here at work. Its not my system either, I have tried this on many different systems and get the same drop rate. Seems to be related to the time of day, I am geuss it might have some to do with the LBFO on the servers.

Luckily, im not paying for this game. I'm on a trial account. My first day was great. My second day, just before i was going to log off, i kept getting disconnected. wasn't a big deal, but its annoying when your trying to finish one more thing and you get booted. today, its like every half-hour that i get disconnected (at the best moments). I tried out WoW, and there was a major update that had a similar effect. I gave them time, and it got fixed. I'm willing to give this game the same chance. I'm not super impatient. I think i might have opened some ports for my firewall for WoW. I'm looking around for some fix like that.

I think that there may have been a problem with BT this morning. My connection went down just after 10am, and there is a message from my ISP to the effect that there had been a major router falure with there supplier who is BT Wholesale.
As Eve seems to have been down in the same period they may have been affected by the same fault.

"Connection to server lost"
Same story, random disconnects. If someone gets a ping-pong trick working, could they post a run-down to the trick here?
Curious thing, we have two players on our connection.
- When I started playing my trial account, I didn't disconnect once.
- The other player here started playing, no problems.
- My trial ends, and I register. I start crashing every day. The player next to me on trial account doesn't experience anything, while we play at the same time, same connection.
- Her trial ends and she purchases an account, and starts crashing.
- Now we both disconnect randomly at different times. And domr times it's so bad I disconnect every minute.
I don't know what it means, except that it's not my connection that has the problems. But why aren't everybody having these problems? How can I be one of them?

The trick is to get your money, it's like selling drugs. First batch is free(or in our case, crashless), after they've gotten your money, they can screw you over like they want to. ________________________________________________

Edited by: Lars Dohn on 18/05/2006 13:50:32 A disconnect (not crash) happens when the server don't hear from the client in "some" time. The problem is that the client does not talk to the server when it's idle. The server think you're dead and just kill the connection resulting in the "lost connection" message. This is what I've experienced. To fix this (works for me) I joined the following channels : Help, language(my own), ships and minerals. This is creating a lot of traffic between my PC and the server, thereby keeping the connection busy and OPEN.

See, that could have been the reason, if not it crashed while doing something. Docking, Attacking etc. But that is not the case. Mine just randomly decides to disconnect... ________________________________________________

I wish it were that simple, but I lose connection durring combat, chatting, and any other time. I will agree it happens more when I'm 'idle' though. Also riddle me this: If I am playing my main account and my second account at the same time, and they disconnect at different times. Wouldn't this mean that the issue wasn't local to me?

3 crashes right after login. All in all, it has taken me 2 friggin days to jump 7 systems!!!! And that was just ship number i was moving, 2 more to go. So in 8 days(CCP Standard Crash Time) I'll have moved them all..
2 days to move freighter to new station, use shuttle to fly back to old station 2 days, 2 more days to fly ship number 2 down, use shuttle to fly back to old station 2 days, 2 more days to fly ship number 3 down.
Earn 200k isk a day, all that is possible with CCP Standard Crash Time. 10 minutes to log in, 5 minutes to crash.
And nothing from CCP at all. Service and Support is apparently an unknown word in Icelandic. ________________________________________________

I think this might solve my CTD problem as it only happened when I did a show info, maybe it was a Jin-Mei male I was looking at each time.

Hmmm, well I run 2 accounts all the time, until yesterday both were reasonable with one occasionally disconnecting. Today its been a lot worse. One disconnects regularly - (usual loss of drones!) - but the other has only disconnected twice today. Can't be traffic because the disconnect happens at random times including when in the middle of combat. Why didn't the other account disconnect? A corp mate of mine can barely play - as soon as he logs in, says one line of chat - he's gone! That's been going on all day! Never experienced disconnects as bad as this with Eve before even over 2 years.

I am having the same problems. Lots of disconnects but I think I am the only one in my clan having them. The game worked fine for several hours when I first started playing but that was late at night. Going to try the ping fix.

Yesterday, we restarted the firewall on our masquerading router (Linux) and after that I experienced bad lag and disconnects. It turned out that we forgot to put a routing rule back in which ensures that packets do not have to be fragmented (MSS clamping). The whole issue is rather complicated, for a technical explanation see here. There is also explained how to fix it for Linux routers.
The point is that the problem can appear due to changes anywhere on the route to the server! That's why I thought this maybe fits some descriptions here. Anyway, after fixing that, it worked normally again.

Yesterday (Sunday 21 May) was a terrible day for these random disconnects. Again the same thing happened where one of my two accounts kept disconnecting. This time I lost a Tempest. Great, what fun, (At the start of "Silence The Informant"). I finally managed to finish the mission in a 'phoon (No more cash left now), but whilst doing so there were 3 more disconnects. Well I know that might have been stupid, but sometimes frustration drives you to extreme resolve. Anyway, now I've decided not to do any more LvL 4 missions solo - if at all until this problem has a solution.
I still can't understand why one account is kicked, but not the other. There was a couple of occassions where they go like ping-pong; 1 off, then logged back on, then the other goes off, logged back on, followed very shortly after with the 1st disconnecting again.
No idea about what that MTU thingy meant although there was no mention of windows Xp.

I have noticed this problem in the last three days...only when the player count exceeds 21K. I also cannot http://www.eve-online.com but I can get to any website, cnn.com; yahoo.com; slashdot.org; bbc.co.uk; and more..so I don't think it's my internet connection because I can dialup with my work laptop and use an aircard and still can't connect. I just tried to play with the player count at 23K, and I didn't last very long.
Since I cannot get to the EVE website when the problem occurs I suspect that there is something wrong on CCP's end and they are not owning up to it.
