The patch has not fixed the problem at all. Latest idea from customer support is to try and disable my soundcard. I already have sounds=0 in that refs.ini file, so I doubt it will fix anything (especially since before the tranq thing everything was just fine). I believe it has to do with my character/ client, the reason reinstalling the game does not work is because probably the same error gets uploaded to my character everytime I log onto it (server keeps agent/standings/isk/skillpoint etc.).

Entirely agree with you Mather; if it was anything to do with your pc or pc's firmware that solution would have worked long ago.
It is interesting to read, in another post in this forum about being unable to log in starting on or about 10 March. Players never got past the 'Logging In' screen. A sort-of, temporary fix is/was to over-write a machonet file, cloned from another player who could log in for that day but it was only good for that day. What was intersting was that once logged in the effected player could only play for a few minutes, doing little or nothing before being kicked off.
Last Friday, 2 June, at about 0300 I couldn't log in with either account. After DT both accounts could. The random disconnects continued but not until after playing for some 5 or 6 hours. Something gets corrupted maybe. Who knows? Client? - Well why only 1 acc goes down? Character? - Well why only 1 most of the time, but sometimes the other very occassionaly?
Why does it happen when you have to 'do' something like open a trade window, or go to warp? And why can you play for some hours before it starts? What is the connection between being unable to Log In, this machonet file and random ctds?
I'm afraid only CCP can see all this. Any suggestions to fiddle with the PC is a waste of time.

I have issues being disconnected when I'm at work, but never at home. We have similar network setups but differetn ISPs. I use Speakeasy (Covad)at work and Verzion DSL at home. Supposedly Speakeasy claims to be ISP for gamers and they advertise low-latency, etc. Not the experience I've had. I've only used the most recent client, so I don't know how this issue has evolved from previous patches. |

Edited by: Mather Maelstrom on 07/06/2006 19:53:44 I haven't had any logging in problems, I did read that post however and that post ahs a lot of poeple with disconnection problems just like we have.
So I tried using somebody elses machonet file, however it did not work, I kept crashing.
I also have sometimes a stable session where the game just keeps on going A+ untill I log off. If I would come back 5 minutes after that I could be having contineous disconnects again.... and that just makes 0 sense to me.

i can play 24hours and gettin no disconnet! its your PC-System not eve !
check your firewalls/ports ect. or clean up you system ! EvE have awsome servers with a realy good connection ! I say its 99% a problem of the clientside not the serverside ! btw befor someone flame me...im proffessional PC user with div. certificats and expierence.
A allaround answer is not possible about you all have to different systems / networks !Basicly try networktools to optimize connection and Windowssettings (TCP-IP optimizer - DSL-DF_ Booster ect. !

Ok came back of holiday last sunday since then i've been disconnecting constantly, frequency varies from a couple of minutes to maybe an hour or so. The circumstances are variable from doing not much in station to running missions.
Seems as if theres a problem talking to the server. It can be anything from activating a module to typing chat. The game hangs for a few seconds then u get the lost connection message in game, followed by a CTD.
I've run pingplotter and there seems to be a problem on the 3rd stage packet loss runs constantly from 50-100%. I notice the route to the eve servers seems alot different from the last time i had connection problems ( 1 year ago ) not sure if this is relevant.
I havent upgraded any hardware lately, ISP is AOL and connecting through a BT voyager 2100 router. Not really technically minded but the clues point to something in a recent patch because prior to this i rarely CTD, its always been unable to connect before. This doesn't rule out the possibility of a problem with AOL or BT but they both claim everything is working fine
Hopefully a solution will spring up soon, any help would be appreciated

2 trouble-free days after the Tuesday patch. 1 Disconnect on Thursday, 1 on Friday. No changes to PC system, ISP or anything else. Ping-plotter continues to show no packet losses or errors. This is pretty well much like Eve was for me a couple of years ago - i.e. a disconnect every now & then. Replies from a GM have suggested that I tweak RAM speeds and run the 2nd account on a second Eve installation. I have tried the latter but it did not make any difference; do not intend to tweak the RAM as I don't believe it'll make any difference. But as there was no discernable, "Ah, we know what the problem is..." type reply, I guess there isn't a direct solution and maybe it'll just go away... Maybe not...

Owi...You may be a technical guru, but you obviously didn't read all the posts in this thread. You want to try to convince me that my computer (the same computer that connected to Eve with no problems at all and maintained connection prior to the last big patch) just COINCIDENTALLY started having problems on the SAME DAY CCP made changes??!! Give me a break....take you "all your computers are just broken" response and your know-it-all attitude to some other thread please. That doesn't help anyone here.

Have had no problems until today, on the whole, afterall you should expect the occasional boot, that would be fair enough.
Now it's happening every 5-10 mins :(, I have clearedv the cache to no avail.

Been the same for me today again..dropped 4 times in 10 mins.
Cannot understand it either why theres no official recognition to this thread..
It started for me with the last patch, some days no problems, then like today, its just "give it up" day.
The large number of people posting with the exact problem either suggests we are the unluckiest bunch of people all with the same problem, or there ARE issues CCP side.
Been playing over 2 years now, and always found their help excellent when ive needed it. Perhaps its mass hypnosis and our machines are fine really...now whats that i hear in the background...

Edited by: Adila on 11/06/2006 18:00:41 Changing "UDP session idle timeout" on my router from 30 seconds to 120 seconds seems to have improved my stability. of course it's only been running well for 30 min now, but given that it was dumping me every 2-5 minutes I take that a good sign.

Lot of people seem to have a problem, any constructive idTas? Anyone???
And just saying: Optimize you connection, and thigs like that is not really helpful.. Question is how?

From what I figure the constant "loss of connection" is because of the latest patch. I have been playing EVE since Jan.06 and have never had this type of problem at all. Support advised me to disable sound card which I did, but it didnt help with the loss of connection. They need to put a new patch out in order to fix the mess up with the old patch.

Played a 10 hour session Sat to Sun 4am with no disconnects. Sun(pm) only 1 disconnect but during a period when there was a lot of game lag. After logging off for 3 hours or so I returned and experienced no further disconnects.
As I've said before I have not changed anything except I did submit a report to Customer Support a week or so ago. I didn't receive an emphatic response.
I have an impression that nobody knows what causes the disconnect problem and hence what a solution might be.
I'll wager that thousands of accounts are experiencing the problem but mostly at the level I'm now experiencing i.e. once or twice a session. The players just log back on again and carry on playing - without giving it much thought, not reporting it and not viewing or adding to this forum. Well why would they? It's in the nature of on-line games or any PC game for that matter.
A small percentage, however, seem to get hit with the problem to the exent that it makes game play almost impossible. I have no idea why though.
In my experience I can only suggest that if your PC is fine for doing everything else and was fine with Eve before the problem started, then do nothing with it. The problem might just go away after a time. Meanwhile don't do anything too risky - you might lose a lot of Isk

I'll add myself to the list of people getting many random disconnects, no matter if which connection I use at the time all get random disconnections.
And no changes have been made to my network at all. I might suspect that somewhere along the line there is some ISP utilizing QoS and I doubt port 26000 has prio - if this is the case.

let me tell you somethin ! i reinstall almost every 1/2 year my Windows.. sometimes 1/4 year (wont explain why)
so .every time i have a clean install im gettin the same dc some of you talkin about and what is to find first the fault on my side ! Its easy to point at ccp but hey tell you what : 100% i find the fault on my side ! Its f***** windows-defaultsettings or firewalls ! And yes if they deploy a new patch somethin changes on your PC , sure its easy to point right here to ccp ..but what i want try to say >> check your PC first ! I know alot of you are just eable to hit the power button ... but why not try to find the fault ! I wouldt like to help ya guys but i need to come to your home , discussions on forum about PC issues are hard to fix in my opinion , at least for me it wouldt take to much afford in the support .
i can giv you a good tip! google for TCP/ip Optimizer or soem kind of other dsl-booster or dfn optimizer !YOu just need to check if the programm supports you connection modem , dsl , wlan ect. ! I play eve on 2 PC .. the old one is a AMD800 with 512 sdram and a 32mb geforce mx400 ! i dont get any DCS with it either even the lag is messy sometimes...but no wonder with kind of crap pc like that for a massiv multiplayer gamer !

Owi do us all a favour and stop posting here. I am probably not the only one who is annoyed by your; "not at all helpful replies here."
So people I've been playing quite stable for the past few days, I did the following:
1. Download latest client patch 2. Delete the eve folder and all files under it 3. Install new client 4. Rearranged all those bm's (again)
Game play has been rather good, with hour long sessions and hardly any disconnects. Nothing else has been changed.

Well I'm glad to see I'm not the only one recently affected by this. I can't pinpoint the exact day this started happening but I know I had at least two solid weeks of zero issues and then in the past week i'm getting constant discounts. Like some others I'm seeing regular small sub 20% packet loss at various places along my packet route. After playing around with Eve a bit though I suspect the problem is not with packets being sent from the client to the server but rather with packets being sent from the server to client. I'm lead to beleive this based on a few things. a) i'm currently training up a bunch of 12 and 15 minute skills. Guess when I discount? When those skills complete. I don't end up getting a skill complete message which is a server side trigger. b) When attempting to fight rats I'll notice that I'm no longer firing ammo/missiles etc. However I can often still send chat to the corp channel etc. i can confirm that those packets are going as by using the monitor window. And talking to my corp mates. However it's really obvious that no packets are coming back in. Along with this thought is the amount of ammo missing when logging back on (along with the dead rats) leads me to beleive that the client is still sending data but it's the return path from the server that isn't happening.
I've cleared cache and all that jazz. I guess I will do a clean install tonight in another folder and see what happens. I'm not to thrilled about reorganizing bookmarks though.

Same here, @ this moment i have the same problems. Loggin in. I can open some of the menu`s and than the game freezes up. I can change the local game properties. But my skills aren`t completing. I have an fress new Windows XP SP2 installed, Newest Nvidia drivers for an 9700gtx. 1gb dual mem. Nforce4 chipset. using no firewall (switched off) using 2 Nat's, on a 6mb/786kb adsl internet connection. Other games (mmorpg's, shoot'm up) work fine. Tried another NIC. Nothing works. Only in the midday when the server is less in use. There are no connection troubles, exept for some lag's. Maybe it's smart to make an connection counter (reaction time) in the gui. So the client knows when the connection is to slow!??!

Same. I've had 4-5 annoying disconnects per day since the last patch (previously: none I can remember), but right now I'm getting disconnected every 2-3 minutes (a total of 7-8 times so far). Everything else works fine for me (web sites etc.) and my system hasn't been touched and isn't running anything different since before the patch.

Add me to this list though my problems started after this last patch not the one way back. I was begining to think I might be suffering a random hardware failure but so far all the testing has disproved that theory. My disconnects are very random but happen often enough that its noticaable as something more than just the usual, to be expected, disconections associated with online games. I am still in the process of trying all the suggested fixes/tests but wanted to post that I am now seeing the same thing in random disconects. Havent changed anything on my end and before now was able to run two accounts never having had the disconnection issue at all until the last several days.

been having an increasing amount of disconnects since downtime today (lots of them during past few days, but not as bad as now). Its up to the point where i can only login and it will lose connection almost right away.
Situation has been improving over the past hour and over the last 15 minutes im monitoring ping plotter and the delays seem to be caused by
213.244.165.237 ge-6-17.car1.Amsterdam1.Level3.net
It used to be 200+ ms but its been improving but still reads high values, usually 100+ with the odd 20ish ms.
