Good news everyone!
Through a miracle of devil science, ugly hackery, Paladin's code, and selling Kieron's soul to Chribba, I've managed to crank out something that kind of looks like the influence map. I've had to take some liberties here since Paladin's code calls for things I don't have, not to mention this is the early (March) code that doesn't contain some of his changes, but it gets the job done for now. Notable absences are station influence and NPC influence because I don't have the tables for those two items yet; I'll try to get them in at some point if Paladin doesn't return.

I'm certainly going to try. I'm not going to lie and say I understand even what a fraction of this code does; my goals right now are just to try to take care of the missing influence factors and the log, I'd really like the fix/improve the colors too(which this is a personal plea, if anyone knows what's going on in his code with colors please let me know). ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

I'm certainly going to try. I'm not going to lie and say I understand even what a fraction of this code does; my goals right now are just to try to take care of the missing influence factors and the log, I'd really like the fix/improve the colors too(which this is a personal plea, if anyone knows what's going on in his code with colors please let me know).
When you figure out the colors, I hope you also can solve one problem Paladin has, that's displaying different levels of sovereignity. There's been a few suggestions in this thread already how to do it, here's mine:
Photshopped example picture My suggestion is that Sov.1 is shown as sovereignity blobs are shown now. Sov.2 is sort of "transitional" blob with its stripes, the logic comes from the fact that it's 50% center to edge -gradient and 50% solid and as you can see, Sov.3 is solid color. Sov.4 would be the same as Sov.1 but inverted to emphasis the fact that it has gone full cycle from one end to another of sovereignity. [ insert fancy sig here ] |

Ather: That's going to be a long way off. The coloring code in here is really complex, I'm not sure I could ever do more than fixing the current color intensity problems.
* For anyone curious how it's done, the NPC system database can be built from the API calls for system soverignty. For the stations, I'm using the data from EVE Strategic Maps (you're a life saver, Serenity) * Also, kudos to Mirida for her multithreading code, that made things a lot faster on my end

Have you touched the code at all or is it the same as provided? I'm thinking I could maybe even do something to it myself...the only thing I dislike in this automated map is the fact that those blobs grow over time. Imo it just doesn't make any sense. [ insert fancy sig here ] |

Well once you (map maker) have been doing it for so long and then all of a sudden it stops and the map maker hasn't said anything? I would have no problem with a lack in maps if the person said "hey I don't have time to do this", I would be fine with it

Nice update, just seems to be a little problem with alliances that do not have a territory with a convex hull.

Alliance names seem to end up in the middle of their space, but for those alliances with separate spheres of influence, that results in alliance names ending up in space that isn't there's. IE: Tau Ceti Federation name is in United Legion space (between the two TCF spheres. ---

Might I suggest you post in the Maps sticky a the top (if you haven't already) and request your map be added? Most people probably don't look in this thread for their updates anymore. --------

TCF, Rise, and Digital Renegades all have very similar colours and are neighbouring, and similarly with United Legion and IAC. EDIT: Ethereal Dawn and Invictus. too.
I'd make that name label bug your priority. Some bits of the map are impossible to read if you don't already know who's there (like MC's northern holdings are completely unlabelled, since their label is lounging around in FIX's space). --------
