VERY cool, I like how its unbiased. I like how it updates itself.
Originally by: El Yatta they shouldnt have gotten involved in supercaps, because on the whole they are very dull, except for 2-3 people in the alliance who get to go "wheee, i cant be scrambled, pwn pwn".

Edited by: Mahrin Skel on 08/03/2007 05:57:53 The only suggestion I can offer is doing something to ensure that station-claiming entities get representation on the map. Either a non-linear decay of influence that peaks in the center, or a small "overlay" circle of maxed-out influence applied *after* the decay algorithm to ensure that station-owning alliances get at least a minimal representation. I can offer some pseudo-code algorithms to explain, if neccessary, I've played around with diffusion map stuff myself.

And a question, why 995- don't have this colour of influence?

Hate to bug you about this, but is there some way you can code your program to apply influence by jumps, not by physical distance on maps?
Your map is showing SMASH alliance to have influence over several system 16+ jumps away from our outpost, simply because the map curves in a way that makes the systems physically close.
Have a look and you'll spot it pretty easily
Apart from that great map, I just don't know how reliable it is, what other bugs are around that are displaying influence incorrectly.

Sovereignty changing only at DT. All maps is geterated After DT.

I've looked at the map. You have a POS in 2-3 jumps from that "16+ jumps" systems. Anyway, who cares about that ownerless space?
----
I've made some changes: - Outpost influence increased to 600% and spread over 3 jumps. - POS influence now spread over 2 jumps. - Map sensitivity to claimed systems increased by 50%. - Sovereign systems are colored with the claiming alliache color. - Systems and jumps are drawing after the territory.
So, let's congratulate several small alliances, which are appeared on the map.

this map is awesome, a true representation of where sov claiming alliances live.
any plans on doing something about npc-owned regions/constellations? could be a nice addition. the reason i ask is because of the situation in pure blind. sisters of eve and mordus legion both claim one constellation each with stations in them and that cant be seen on the map. even just marking those constellations as empty in the same way as venal and stain would make me happy :) ___

This map is genius, well done indeed.
Perhaps we can now finally wave goodby to the bias inherent in hand drawn maps.
Ofc one question remains, why hasn't CCP themselves put something like this together?
.. either way congratz to the author. You are onto a winner methinks.

Load game > F10 > "Starmap" tab > "Color Stars By" sub-tab > "Sovereignty" drop-down > "All factions and alliances"
:P
If you mean "why hasn't CCP done an out-of-game sov map", the answer is probably "because a) they'd be accused of bias and b) then the community couldn't do it itself".

I must say that the latest map is a significant improvement.
With dots showing sov even inside of a rival's (or ally's) sphere of influence; it makes it easy to tell where borderlines are a bit grey.
For example, in Pure Blind, NxT Level and Forces of Freedom both have a large number of sov systems; however the D2 stations show they have an important place in the region.
A better example is the "Far East" Region cluster, where there are many overlapping sov issues there. After a couple months of a stable map, it is going to be fantastic to see slideshows of this information posted.
Is it possible to regenerate the older maps using the latest data? That would give us the opportunity to see how things have unfolded much easier.

It looks great Paladin. I've bookmarked it and will be referring back to it regularly!
Now just a matter of getting enough "frames" to make an animation of influence over time. I can't wait!

I'll do that, but later. Map has several changes planned. When we get to stable version, I'll re-render all the previoues maps. (One map rendering for about 15 minutes).
Originally by: R0ot Xelas Alliance do not lay claim to fountain, its bobs space, we just live there.
Ok, I'll change your alliance color to blue, if you so want to be a BoB 'slave'. This is the best I can do, since the map is automated.

One tiny complaint, Is it possible to get a smaller version like the goon's did with theirs. ------------------------------
