I believe that CCP is not that much profit driven as other MMOG companies, but I don't think that they will just easily give up at least 20% to 30% of their total turnover.
A direct purchase from gtcs from CCP with ISK, for what price ever, will result in the loss of the income out of the RL world gtc sale for each and every one of that gtcs, as it takes place right now before any one gtc is sold for ISK in game.
So I'm really curious, how CCP will do that, without cutting a significant chunk out of their profits.

All of this would make more sense if CCP would tell us how many GTC's they sell each month.
If its as many as to upset the economy (which I very much doubt it is) then I can understand them trying to do this but, then, no wait, they wouldn't would they. If it was so many to upset the economy then it would be worth significant income to them, enough to warrant them leaving it in.
Don't tell me CCP are NOT profit driven. ALL companies are. The very fact they "merged" (there is no such thing in business, one takes over the other) proves that they ARE profit driven ... sorry "Looking to expand on options and strengthen the company" ....

Originally by: CCP kieron The recent MotD mentioning the sale or purchase of ISK for real money generated some questions about how Game Time can be traded for ISK, Game Time that was purchased with real world cash. In some of my replies, I was unclear. This wasn't by intention, but because of the information I am authorized to release at this time.
In the future, CCP will introduce a billing solution replacing the current system that allows the purchase of game time from third parties for in-game ISK. In essence, it will be possible for a time and ISK-rich, but financially challenged player to purchase game time directly from CCP. Game Time codes will still be available for purchase, but the trade of game time codes for ISK will no longer be an approved payment option.
We still have a number of details to work out, as well as implementation and integration, but that will hopefully clear up some of the confusion created earlier.
nice thanks.

Originally by: Lady Abaris I cannot see buying game time direct from CCP using isk causing them huge finacial hurt. There just isnt going to be a huge jump in numbers buying as those who choose to pay in this way already do so. CCP know exactly how many GTCs are used every month and will have done their sums.
The are 2 groups who will suffer. Those who profit by reselling for rl cash and nobody who gives a damn about EVE will have any sympathy for them. The second group is those who fund their ingame activities using their rl wealth. Well this group is already able to get big advantages by the use off multiple accounts to raise isk so all is not lost for them.
CCP do seem to be raising their game in terms of fighting the Isk selling menace and this change is hopefully just part of the attack on the sellers. I can see a trend towards an eve with proportionally less isk per head in it. An example being the new Level 5,6 and 7 missions will be item rewarded rather than isk. Removing the isk sellers from the game removes a massive amount. While CCP selling game time for isk also fits the pattern although i think the numbers involved are in reality somewhat smaller than we think.
Lets be honest EVE would be a far more interesting place with out the isk sellers in any form and with less isk in the economy. The dedicated pvpers who currently use bought isk would either have to fly smaller ships, earn isk ingame like average players or shock horror cooperate with nonpvpers and gain an industrial base. Real player miners (bless em) would actually become vital again to the community and the economy.
The result? Well we could expect to see fewer capital ships and battleships blobs out there. Smaller ships like cruisers and afs would again be more common again allowing the newer players more accessability. Oh yes and miners would get more friends.
yes amen.

Wrong.
a 3rd group.
Those of us who buy occasionaly to allow us to play but dont have the time in rl to dedicate any major commitment. Those of us that have maybe 2 or 3 hours a week. Those of us who love the pvp and want to be able to participate in ops. Those of us that have been playing since launch. Those of use that through change of life cannot dedicate the time to mine/mission/rat/etc like we used to.
Yeah yeah ... "get a frig" i hear you say "buy my replacement 40mil sp clones" I say to you!

no mate i disagree.Mixing rl moneny to buy ingame stuff is just plain wrong.
Its exactly like if in sport drugs would be allowed and ehancements. And the one using them would say hey i got no time to train, but i got money so its fair.
This is a game. Its a separate universe where rl money must stop giving you advantage( as much as its possible).
If you can play that little you still can make enough isk to pvp in cruisers. But i want you to earn that isk not buy it.Cause i also got little time for Eve and i do all kind of smart risky stuff to earn isk ingame faster and when i risk my hard ingame earned bs and fight i want to face somebody who also had to earn it ingame, not some guy who is just rich and bought from ebay officer stuff and will pwn me, despite he is so much "worse" in term of this game.
On side note a 51 milions sp clone costs nowadays i think 7 milions. You earn that in 30 minutes in 0.0 .

NO NO NO. Why do people perpetuate this retarded myth that it makes ANY difference WHERE people got their ISK. It doesn't. They have it however they have it and you don't. RMT matters to CCP because it means they aren't getting paid for their intellectual property, it DOESN'T matter to John Q Player, because some schmoe has more money ANYWAY, by a circumstance outside your control.
I'll say it again for the retards in the cheap seats, to think that being able to afford GTC's to fund their in-game pursuits is ANY different than being lucky enough to have the TIME to put into making that money "legit" is a complete FALLACY.
In fact is actually MORE likely that a person with excess TIME has a bigger advantage than anyone buying ISK with GTCs, because MOST people won't drop $20k, yet some guy who gets lucky with a t2 Vaga BPO sells it for that much in-game currency, or mines/rats it up because they have nothing better to do with their lives.

No bubba if you buy isk with rl money its not the same game.Cause you get advantage from outside game.
Nobody had said that everybody has to play same time.
Its what my analogy was pointing at.IF you got to a tennis tournament , those that could train more will have advantage because thats what it is about, its about tennis. Not what you do outside tennis.Your tons of money wont help you ( at least not taht much in amatuer tournaments, the stuff to play doesnt matter so much at certain level). And i dont think anybody would be happy if rules changed and you could buy a 1 game set for 20 $.

Way to read way too damned much into a post, I'd flame you for it but I've been warned. I'm actually one of those people who's got endless amounts of time, and basically have nothing better to do with it. I've never bought a GTC to sell for ISK, and probably never will.
It doesn't matter though because theres always going to be someone out there with more time/luck than I do, who's going to be richer. Same goes for anyone who can afford to spend A LOT of money on GTC's for ISK. Theres no difference between the two as far as I'm concerned because they both have more ISK, end of story. How they got it is of no concern to me.
News flash sparky, there are people who through entirely ingame means have a big enough wallet to NEVER work for ISK EVER again and still have enough money around to fly fully factioned ships from now until the servers close down, they're going to win the ISK war against anyone but someone with way more disposable income than is likely to waste on the game.
Besides ISK can only take you so far. I knew a guy in another MMO who used to brag about the fact that he spent more money on game currency than people spent on college, he got made fun of endlessly for sucking at the game, not for his RMT habits.
Oh and as to your last point, I play this game for the things that excite me, like PVP, or marginally VERY marginally to come across a faction spawn and get some cool loot, its like playing the lotto. I don't play this game to grind money, CCP makes it a part of the game to make themselves money, its a game mechanism to keep us playing and paying, GTC > ISK transactions still fulfill that part of the bargain, somebodies still paying for that time to CCP. But I doubt anyone arguing against GTC > ISK will have the wit to actually comprehend that statement.

No actually its abit deeper, you dont understand. Its human psychology. Its about working for somethign and then living the thrill of combat. You must work for your ship to then apreciate it and feel the thrill of combat.
I dont know actually how poeple who buy with rl money Eve stuff actually have fun.I suspect most of them play a few months and leave.
And its not some theory i was in Eve beta and i was on last day when they have given everybodu enough isk to buy anything and play with it.For me it wasnt that fun.
If its all about pvping with best stuff why CCP dont give everybody free modules and let everybody endleslly fight it out?Because Eve would be dead in 1 week.It wouldnt be fun

Hurray for you, and way to miss the point. Just because you don't like the game if you don't have to grind for it doesn't mean the rest of us are brain-damaged as well. Besides, its likely to hurt more for someone who GTC'ed their ISK because thats REAL ******* MONEY they're losing, not time spent staring blankly at a computer screen watching a rock or some worthless NPC ship thats so easy its routine inside a week.

I repeat so follwoing your way of thiking CCP should just scrap all the prices so everybody can use any module /ship, and it would be perfect, with no grinding?then everybody can fight non stop.
Or make an offical market for items say: bs - 10 $ titan - 100 $ hac 12 $
At least it would be clear
That would hell of fun.

Isn't that sort of the point of RPG? You know, train your SP, train your skills, earn isk and spend it wisely... Grinding is part of RPGs and what make the game fun. I am not saying that I am playing the game to shoot rats in 0.0/run missions, but I do understand that it is a part of game and like it as it is.

Now imagine 60 % of an alliance buy ships with isk bought for rl money. The other alliance dont have such means. They fight and ofc first rich rl alliance comes on top. Great eh?I repeat ingame should only function ingame laws, no rl money advantage as much as its possible.

Your logic fails, because in-game laws as you call them aren't fair anyway. You don't take turns or anything like that to keep it even, in your example, alliance A) plays 1 hour per player a week more than alliance B) they fight, alliance A wins because they had more time to grind. Same inequity, you're just to ******* stubborn to see it.
Hell lets make it more abstract, alliance A lives in a better area of the game, so they get 10% more money per hour of grinding than alliance B. They meet in combat and alliance B still loses, because of the money disadvantage. You going to cry that all areas of the game should be completely equal, thereby reducing all territorial ambitions to worthlessness? Way to try to kill the game because you don't like a certain aspect of it.

How much of an advantage does buying isk really give someone? Yes, they can fly the best stuff, but do they have the skill to use it? There is a big difference between someone who spent hundreds of hours of PvE and PvP to get the money for a ship, and someone who gets in 3 weeks training and some $.
I know who I'd bet on in the fight. Plus, people who play limited in-game hours, and buy isk, are less likely to be part of a larger corp. These are the types of people that aren't as likely to socialize and form the friendships that make eve more fun and easier.
Face the fact that you won't stop them from buying isk, and try to come up with ways to control it that won't support the isk farmers that ramp up inflation.

Originally by: IlIlIlIlI IlIlIlIlI Your logic fails, because in-game laws as you call them aren't fair anyway.
No you still dont understand my point of view.
I dont want Eve to be equal i never said that , you just assumed it.Eve is unfair and will be.I cant play more then 5 sometimes 10 hours aweek so i know i will be somwhere in the middle foodchain.Im fine with it.
Unfairness is okay as long as its ingame.I dont want outside of game advantages. As said ingame ingame laws.No matter if fair or not.

Oh so its fine as long as the unfairness helps you but not the other guy. Hypocrit. You have more time/tolerance for the pain of the grind than someone else so you get all the advantages while they're supposed to slug through, or not play at all, because you want all the advantages. What a crock.
