OK, I'm a bonehead and can't get started with EFT. Please point me the right way.
I did the following:
1. Download EFT 2.10.4 2. Unpack to the default subdirectory 3. Read FAQ.txt 4. Click on EFT.exe 5. Brought up the character screen 6. Create new character "Cagot" and select it off the drop-down 7. Clicked Import 8. Gave it the user ID and limited API that I'd generated half an hour earlier 9. Clicked "Cagot" when it showed that and my two alts 10. Clicked "Save userID and API key for this char", then OK 11. Checked "Skills" and opened "Drones". They're all at 0 (and mine aren't).
What did I leave out? Or where did I go wrong?

Install a new copy of EFT. Such issues may arise when mixing *.dat files from different versions (you need to replace every file even if their size didn't changed from previous version).

How do you use the DPS graph. When I select new DSP Graph it is blank. Every Plan lasts until the first shot is fired. "I have a Plan, a good one." Generally means it is not. If Yellow it get a Fellow Killed |

I have been using EFT since 2.8.1. I haven't used it since a few days after I upgraded to 2.10.1 upgrade. I used it again today and tried to update my character by importing it through the API and it zeroed my skills. Characters that have not been updated still have their old stats.

Thanks for the response. I'm glad to hear it's probably not just me. Perhaps CCP switched around the API dump again.
I'll try entering everything by hand... now's the time I wonder whether becoming a skill collector was all that smart!

I had a similar problem a while ago. The soloution I got from ccp when I petitioned it (since it didn't work in evemon either) was to pause the skill I was training on my other char on that account and start training one on the character I had issues with for a few seconds and then switch back. Worked for me.

Can you add something like this in future versions of eft:
Adding to projected effects not only modules, but whole setups. For example, i want see how my logist boost tanking, or my ewar ship decrease enemy's ship characteristics.

Interesting - that would fit my case... my alt is busily studying scanning to serve as my backup in a wormhole. I've finished inputting my skills by hand, but will remember this for next time.

Same problem here, started and paused the skills on the character and everything worked fine.

I get the following error when i enter my character information:
Error: Must provide userID parameter for authentication.
There was a patch during downtime last night. But, this is my first time using the program, SO I'm thinking it is more likely something im doing wrong. I enter my user ID as i do to enter the game client and eve sight, and used a new API key.

The user ID is above the API key: I believe its 7 digits long, like "123467". It is NOT your logon name.

All level five is a default character with all skills at level 5, to get your skills into EFT click 'view' then 'character editor' then create new character and load in your API to that character, you may have loaded oyur data into the all level 5 character. for faction and officer modules, select the type of module your after, shield boosters for example, and down the bottom left underneath the list of modules there should be the options 'faction' 'complex' and 'commander' if there are any of those modules available for the selected type of module you can view them by clicking on 'faction' or whatever. Hope this helps, im hopeless at explaining things.

Not sure if this bug has been reported yet but Heavy electron and heavy ion blasters specs are the wrong way around when trying to fit them. They show correct in market group.
i.e I can fit 3 T2 heavy electron's t2 but not 3 T2 ion's.... should be the other way around.

That's the correct way. Neutron > Ion > Electron, Neutrons being the hardest to fit and electron the easiest.

That's the correct way. Neutron > Ion > Electron, Neutrons being the hardest to fit and electron the easiest.

One thing I canÆt figure out is how to import XML fit file. If anyone had this problem before and got an answer I apologize for asking about it again.
So how do you do it?
I go to File > Import fit from XMLà, empty window opens with æRefreshÆ (highlighted) and æImport, deleteÆ (grayed-out), nothing in the window.
I Managed to Export a ôtest fitö in to XML but now I canÆt import it back to the program. I tried placing the exported *.xml file in to main dir, and every subfolder I could find thereà nothing worked.
Why not take a screenshot and be done with it?... Got tired of taking screenshots ;)

The warp disruptor II module is affected by the triage mode of the carrier (in this case, nidhoggur), and is stated to use 375000GJ/s cap when in triage mode and 1875000GJ per cycle... Real men do it the hard way: fly Minmatar! |

For EVE or EFT to be able to import fit from XML file it must be saved to the <MyDocuments>\EVE\fittings where <MyDocuments> is "C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents" in case of XP or "C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents" for Vista.
This path should be default for exporting fit to XML but it is possible that there would be no "fittings" folder because EVE does not create one until some fit exported from the game.
In the next EFT version such case will be handled and "fittings" folder created if it doesn't exist so default saving location will be correct.

EFT under WINE gives the following error when trying to drag a module from one ship to the projected effects field of another ship: fixme:imagelist:ImageList_DrawIndirect ILS_ALPHA: unimplemented!
Could you add a way to turn off the alpha when dragging ship-to-ship? Make it work like dragging from the itembrowser, since that works properly. This is needed since the itembrowser does not add pilot skills or ship bonuses.
I've voted for the bug at winehq: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17319 Other linux/mac users, please do the same.

When will EFT get a installer? That whould be nice, and when theres a update a auto patcher? Theres plenty of software installers out there all you need is it to make a folder in programme files and a shortcut in the start menu.
I like to keep things tidy lol :P

Not sure what I am doing wrong here, firstly I notice thas activating cloak doesn't turn of mwd like it used to but also I notice when I add a Zor's Hyperlink to my character I do not get an increase in speed. Could someone try that out for me?

I have been using an old version of EFT for the longest time. Decided to download the new version, extracted it to a new folder, and when I try to run it I get an 'Invalid File Name Error' followed by some others. Cant operate program after clicking through errors. Any thoughts. Also, only downloaded from the links listed at top post.

hey there i have an issue with EFT. i noticed that there is a couple of skills missing and they are as follows;
nanite operation nanite Interfacing
i just noticed these as i am about to train them and would like to know the effect they will have on my ship loadouts, could this issue be fitted for the next patch please?

Clicking on Help-->About...
Clicking on the links is suppose to open a web browser to the link. However IE doesn't appear. Instead it opens multiple IE instances (iexplore.exe) and they can not be killed. Have to reboot in order to clear the instances.

I am using EFT to play with an Absolution setup, but the armor resists it returns is completely off. I have imported my skills, and rechecked that my correct skills are listed. It seems like it returns values as if I had lvl5 skills.
Even tried deleting the char, and making a new one.
Anyone experiencing the same, or know how to sort it out? --

It's not a bug, read the FAQ.txt before you post here. In order to get the Command Ships skill, you have to get BCruisers to lvl 5, so since that is the only way you would run the Absolution, it does assume you have Lvl 5 BCruiser. Same for any ships that require lvl 5 of a skill and recieve a bonus from that skill.

These skills have no effect on the stats of any ship or module, so I would not expect to see them in EFT.
