On topic, Avast is reporting tons of false positives (like Skype and EFT). Ignore these! Win32:Delf-MZG is the trojan that is being falsely reported.
Ack. You're correct. I kept searching around after this put a seed of doubt into my mind, and so I could see what this Delf-MZG thing was. Note to self: Kick Avast. <sigh>
This is the first time I've ever had a problem with Avast, so I'm somewhat stunned. (Still be wary of folks telling you to disable your virus scanner.)

Edited by: Tanaki Arus on 03/12/2009 06:54:27 Today, there was an update for Avast! Antivirus that required a restart, and now a trojan is detected when I try to run EFT.exe
I re-downloaded from "Alternative Mirror 1" and trojan was detected upon being scanned after download. First link appears to be fine though, I re-downloaded and extracted/overwrote everything and EFT is fine now.

Just like many others before me, I too have a problem with EFT randomly not saving setups. On top of that there's something even more weird. I'm 100% sure I had a couple of Jaguar and Wolf fits saved yesterday and the day before that and when I decided to check them today they were gone and their cfg files aren't in Setups.
Before anyone asks, no I didn't touch those files and didn't delete the setups through EFT.

That Avast update is bringing up false positives on all kinds of stuff, not just EFT. Most people are getting a Win32: Delf-MZG trojan error. Check out their forums.
edit, it seems they have a fix out: Quote: Hello,
last night, avast had a bad false positive issue. At around 12:15am GMT we released VPS update 091203-0 which started flagging hundreds of innocent files as a "Win32:Delf-MZG" Trojan. Among the files affected were high-profile programs produced by Adobe, Realtek sound card drivers, various media players etc.
We are still investigating the issue, trying to find out what exactly happened and how to make absolutely sure it will not happen again.
At 5:50am GMT, another VPS update (091203-1) was released, fixing the issue. Those who have not used their computers between 12:15am and 5:50am will most likely not be affected.
If you're still using the bad VPS (091203-0) we recommend to invoke a VPS update immediately.
Our technical support team is currently preparing extensive HOWTOs about how to fix the situation for those who were hit by the problem.
We will be updating you shortly.
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Thanks, Vlk

As said before in this thread, and confirmed by at least one other, it might be the same bug that I have.
If you have EFT on when shutting down Windows, Windows shuts EFT and fails to save any changes to fits you had. But if you manually close EFT before shutting Windows, the changes to fittings are saved fine.
So feel free to try and see if this is the case.

1. Ship setups were not saved after closing the EFT. It seems that the EFT2.12 will seldom save the .cfg file after being closed. Actually, I have created several setups of most of the frigates, battleships and electronic attack ships but only a Caldari Navy Hookbill.cfg, a Kitsune.cfg and a Armageddon Navy Issue.cfg were saved. I wonder how to solve this problem. Note I'm using Windows Vista SP1 Home Premium with F-secure and openoffice. I have never encounter such a kind of problem in the previous version of EFT.
Same problem here. Setups are not saved. I've also tried a clean install of EFT with no success. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. EFT 2.11 was working just fine.

This had been the same in the previous versions. Setups had only been saved when you close the corresponding window (for example if you fit a Megathron, you have to close that window). Otherwise setups are gone - or at least had been on my computer.
NDN
I've never encountered a problem with losing setup when closing EFT while having fitting window open.
I had this problem too. I closed EFT, deleted the 'setups' folder in the EFT folder, then reopened EFT and it work like normal (created a new setup folder). Copy your setups first if you want to save them. The problem seemed to be that the setups folder (and in past patches the char folder) becomes read only and wont change no matter what.
Thanks a lot for the hint. I've changed permissions for "Users" group on setups folder, EFT have started to save fittings.

If your running windows, an easier way to make it work is right click the setup folder, click properties, and uncheck Read-Only.

Just posting to confirm that EFT is calculating Falloff properly.
Even better than that? It's showing the correct DPS loss when firing in Falloff. Thank you, thank you for correcting that Gripen!! You're the man.
One minor thing that's weird for me: When I import my character, EFT misses the fact that I have AWU 5 for some reason. Seems to get all the other skills right. But if I manually correct it and hit the import butting, it sets it back at AWU 4. Weird.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet - better safe than sorry so here goes.
The Amarr Navy faction gear has had it's name changed to Imperial Navy. EFT has included this change except for the ammo - my crystals are still named "Amarr Navy Multifrequency L" and not "Imperial Navy...".
Thanks for a great app!

I may be 100% wrong here but I believe the projected effect of multiple target painters are showing an incorrect result.
If these numbers are accurate then Target painters do not have any stacking penalty.
Abaddon: Sig:470 +1 Target Painter II Abaddon: Sig:646 +1 Target Painter II Abaddon: Sig:857
That's an increase of 176 then 211 to the signature radius. Am I missing something?

Before I start griping, thanks a ton for creating and updating this awesome tool for free.
So I just got bitten by the no-save bug, which threw away a couple hours of updating/creating fittings.
It looks like it was related to file permissioning issues, which is a total user-side issue and unfixable, but the program just quitting out without telling you that it threw away all of your modifications, that should be doable.
To prevent this problem from cropping up again, I suggest implement a file modification time check, so that after it saves the .cfg files, it checks the timestamp just to make sure that the save actually happened. If not, it can pop up a dialog box saying something like, "Couldn't save changes. Are you sure you want to quit?" |

Edited by: tenebric on 04/12/2009 21:43:50 Hello Everyone-
3 standard disclaimers - I'm an eve newbie, EFT is a great tool for sorting out the vast sea of options, and I looked around for a previous answer to this question, but didn't find one.
On the EFT setup display, in the module list, there are 6 columns. CPU, Power, Charges, I get. Next to power, there is an icon I don't recognize, and I don't know what to do with the optimal value. Optimal would seem to be a binary thing. It is,or it isn't.
[update] duh. I just realized the symbol is for capacitor draw. I'm still confused about the optimal value though.

First off, EFT is a great program! Thanks!
This may be a newbie user (to EFT) question, but I can't seem to find any of the fraction modules. I was looking for a couple of the Corpii modules (armor repair, afterburner etc)
Is that a limitation of ET 2.12.1?
Thanks for any help.
DUH! I found them...

New EFT 2.12.1 still isn't saving properly for me. I did a bit more investigation and I don't think it's a permissions issue.
The problem seems to be that only the fittings for the last modified ship are being saved. This is reproducible with the following:
1) Rename the Setups folder to something else. 2) Start EFT (New Setups folder is created) 3) Create a new Reaper fitting 4) Create a new Ibis fitting 5) Close EFT
The Setups folder will only have Ibis.cfg, but not Reaper.cfg
Also, if you open up EFT again and create another Reaper fitting, but then modify the Ibis fitting before closing the application, Ibis.cfg will be modified but Reaper.cfg is still not created.
If it helps, I'm on Win XP.

I assume you are using a TP II with all lvl 5 as it seems to account for the numbers. The increase of 176 is approximately a 37.5% increase (as you would expect from all 5 TP2). The sig is now 646 and the second TP is applied to that. 211 is about a 32.7% increase and the reduction likely accounts for stacking penalty.
In other words the first painter is giving a 37.5% increase and the second a 32.7% increase. It seems to be correctly applied though I cant confirm if it works like that in game.

Not sure if it's a known problem but eft is applying the bonuses from the Cap remote rep skill incorrectly I think. I have capital remote rep 4 and eft shows the rep to use 810 cap per cycle when it actually consumes 1080 cap per cycle. I have double checked and I donÆt have implants in. I checked and at lvl 5 it shows the rep to only consume 759 cap per cycle which is off aswell.
