Originally by: Kamoonga Okay, forgive the stupidity, but how do you actually use this thing? I unzipped the files to a folder on the desktop. Right away WinZip complains about having to overwrite a CPU icon, but I let it do so. Then, I try to launch the .exe and get an "invalid filename" error. Hit OK to get out of that and the proggie window opens. Hover over the lefthand window and try to search for a ship, and I get "Access violation at address 004Ag783 in module 'EFT.exe'. Read of address 00000000."
Open ship browser and click on a blank square, and I get "invalid index" again. OK out of that and a setup window opens but throws another access violation.
WTH am I doing wrong?
Did you install .net ? I think it is required for EFT, is it not?
EFT does not use .net
If you are upgrading from older version you should try to unzip to a new folder and if it works copy there your characters and setups subfolders from old version as well as config.ini. If you are using EFT for the first time this may be either a corrupted archive because of some issues with downloading or your WinZip.

Feature Request : Highlight modules for which you don't have the skills required to fit. ie: tech 2 items you cannot equipped the whole row is highlight ( say.. yellow.. something light enough to read easily through and dark enough to be easily noticed.. ) When you hover over it, it should also let you know what skill you are missing ( in addition to the info already presented ).
Just a feature suggestion so you can quickly and easily see what you need to train. Oh, this option should also be configurable :) So if you don't want it, just tick a box. Ambart Valaina -= Because Fate is Divine. |

Very nice program. I tried QuickFit for about 2 minutes and gave up on it because I couldn't stand the interface. EFT does is very handy and has a good interface.

I like this idea, but you can already get the list of skills by hovering the mouse over the little red box in the top right next to the character name.

I know, but an immediate indicator would be nice as well. :) Took me a few minutes to realize that was what the green thing was for. Ambart Valaina -= Because Fate is Divine. |

You mean the Khanid version of the Sacrilege? It is already there, the previous version 2.2 had it under the Khanid tab, however, 2.3 has it under the Amarr Heavy Assault ship. Bonii are all correct on it as well. It is a nice ship too.

Hi mate,
first of: gj! I luv you.
Okay, I don't know if it has been said before but despite the All-level-5-char, which is great, it would also rock if there is a all-level-4 char. Because 99% of the time you skill a ship/module you get it to lvl 4 quickly and then you maybe skill something else to 5 or it takes a while...
Another thing is that 'profiles' for the implants would be interesting imho. Coupling the imps to the char is right from the eve-online point of view, but it makes more sense to completely seperate it. So let's say you fit a ship. Character: all level 5(4! :P). Okay speed is at this-and-that. Now with imps (selecting a custom profile from another drop-down menue). Ah right, now I hit 10k :P
See you soon ;)

Hmm, am I doing something wrong?
With a hulk, my ice miner II's show a duration of 280.5 seconds in EFT, and in-game they are 330 seconds. (No implants, no mining upgrades, exhumers at level IV)
Any ideas?

Edited by: Chezaka on 04/10/2007 22:14:06 Just a quick note that i released an update to EFT - Online Module Prices, the separate prices Add-on for EFT.
V0.3 - (October 4th, 2007)
Updated server communications to the new domain. Old versions of the software are no longer able to retrieve online information. Thanks DeathsEmbrace for reporting the problem :) Added little counter in the status bar while retrieving online items. You can fetch the update at http://eve.drome.nl. Go to the 'Online Module Prices' page.

It is very possible that there are some errors with mining barges bonuses. I can't fly and test them so I get info about their bonuses only from description and database parameters.
There is a -3% duration bonus stated in the database which I thought is the equivalent of 3% yield bonus of strip miners for ice harvesters. Probably my assumptation here was wrong and all barges (T1 and T2) in EFT getting -3% duration of Ice Harvesters per Mining Barge level which they don't have in EVE.
If someone can test and confirm it I'll fix this in the next version.

OK, tested on sisi:
Tech 1 barges don't affect ice mining.
Tech 2 barges seem to work as follows :
Mackinaw 5% reduction in cycle time/ level, 25% penalty flatrate
So, to work out the cycle time you use the following formula :
Base time - Ice Mining skill % - Implant % - Exhumers Skill % - 1st Laser Upgrade % - 2nd Laser Upgrade % + 25%
Using a tech 1 ice laser, a 5% yeti implant, 2 tech 1 upgrades, the exhumers skill at IV, the ice mining skill at 1, you get the following cycle time :
600 - 5% - 5% - 20% - 5% - 5% + 25% = 488,70 seconds
Max skills / t2 lasers and upgrades :
500 - 25% - 5% - 25% - 9% - 9% + 25% = 276,57 seconds
Hulk 3% reduction to cycle time / level
It's virtually the same formula as above:
Base time - Ice Mining Skill % - Implant % - Exhumers % - 1st upgrade % - 2nd upgrade %
Example time, using same skills as above
600 - 5% - 5% - 12% -5% -5% = 430,06 seconds.
Max skills / tech 2 lasers and upgrades :
500 - 25% - 5% - 15% - 9% - 9% = 250,76 seconds
Hope that helps

Sorry if this has been asked before, but in the EFT info screen regarding your ship there is some information on the tank. There are two numbers there which seem to indicate the dps the ship can tank per second. Often they are the same, but sometimes they are not.
Can someone let me know what those numbers are showing and what the difference is between the top and bottom number?
Much appreciated.

In many cases some faction stuff has been left out when its stats are the same as another faction's (so the lists don't get cluttered up too much). In the case of Fed Navy ammo that would be Caldari Navy - their charges are exactly the same except the names.
Quote: and the cap usage when you change hybrid/crystals dosent change w/ each one
Dunno about that; it does here.

The higher number is "burst" tank. The lower number is "sustainable" tank.

Thank you for making this great tool it has saved me hundreds of hours of calculations.
I believe I found a calculation error when adding a second Ice Harvester Upgrade to the Mackinaw.
A Mackinaw fitted with: Mining Upgrades 4 Electronics 4
Ice Harvester II Ice Harvester II Ice Harvester Upgrade II
EFT Shows 185.2/225.6 CPU with Ice Harvester IIs using 72.6 each and the Upgrade another 40 CPU. These values check out in game as well. However adding an Ice Harvester Upgrade I (30 CPU),in EFT, shows the Harvester CPU as 77.6 putting the total at 225.3/225.6 in EFT. The game shows the correct value as 78.408 (72.6 * 1.08 = 78.408) and the real total as 226.82/225.6 just out of reach The module shows the correct penalty of 8% under information however EFT seems to apply only a ~6.9% increase.
Further testing revealed that the error occurs when adding a second upgrade regardless of the ship or Ice Harvester.

Now whenever i try to import char via api it say choose char and then i hit okay. Nothing happens.
