The time for EVE to evolve from beautiful to gorgeous is approaching! Trinity, EVE Online's newest content expansion, will be deployed on Wednesday 5 December, commencing at 0200 GMT. Tranquility and the EVE forums will be unavailable for the length of the deployment, both are expected to return to service by 0200 GMT on Thursday 6 December.
Trinity is EVE Online's largest expansion to date and centers around a new graphics system. EVE players with DirectX9c and Shader 3 capable graphics cards can choose to upgrade their clients to Trinity's Premium Graphic Content. Players without cards supporting DX9c and Shader 3 technology will play EVE with the Classic Graphic Content, but will be able to upgrade once their system meet the Premium Graphic Content requirements. To see a preview of EVE: Trinity, you can download the 102M HD1080p EVE: Trinity Trailer or the smaller 64M HD720p EVE: Trinity Trailer. Other features may be found on the EVE: Trinity Preview Page.
Patch Notes will be available shortly. Updates to the Patch Notes will be made throughout the weekend, new additions, edits and changes will be highlighted with green text.
We encourage the training of a skill with a long training time.

If it stays the same as SiSi you can just turn it to low and it goes back to looking like it does now.

This was not supposed to contain Ambulation. Ambulation was meant for later next year and only for DX10 clients( so hence it won't come out until the DX10 client is out).

Lot's of new stuff, much of it shiny, well done CCP for that.
However ... not so well done for ignoring literally thousands of comments on the Game Development Forum concerning the temporary killing of 0.0 logistics and crippling of interdictors with no sensible explaination for either to be honest.

I think this is the expected reference to Jump Freighters, i.e. we can now go off and try to invent them. I could of course be wrong as it stunningly vague.
If I'm right it means a few of us will have acess to a small number of hideously expensive ones in a few weeks/months. Thats the best case scenario lol!

They were up there earlier when I first loaded the patch notes, but they have since changed the formating of the Tech 2 ships section and they have disappeared. I expect they will be returned to the notes shortly.

Hmm..honestly. With what I care about (mainly combat) I'm pretty happy with the changes. Except the Eos ofc. I just found my optimal config for it and now it becomes worthless for me. Sucks really but hey, I never get anything I want anyway.
Oh, wait I did, 100% damage bonus, ECM buffs, some rearranged high-to-lows... Was upset about RoF on drones, but double the damage? Thats gonna hurt bad. I like. Still hate you for the Eos though. Then again it wont cost more than 10 isk, maybe turn it Nano like everything else.
My FPS is as good with the new GFX as it is with the old, perhaps even smoother. Will know for sure once I get into my first 20+ fight as that is were my FPS drops to 3 today.
Good luck on the deployement and thanks for making Trinity! \o/

On the other hand, there seems to be something missing from your notes. I've been expecting a fix for so long. I crossed the fingers of both hands and anxiously read the patch notes you linked. I'm curious about this part:
Originally by: Patch notes Ship bandwidth: Frigates: 25Mbit/s Destroyers: 25Mbit/s Cruisers: 50Mbit/s Battlecruisers: 75Mbit/s Battleships: 125Mbit/s
All those bandwidths are just the max. that is there. The average bandwidths are much lower (like below half). Ex. only 1 out of the 8 tech 1 battlecruisers have 75 mbit/s bandwidth (its the Myrmidon).
Also this part in the bandwidth section:
Quote: ... With bandwidth the damage output from drones can be limited while still allowing for spare drones. ...
Where are the extra drone bay space for those spare drones? Most of the ships just have a drone bandwidth that is equal to the drone bay size. So not much variation there, which was what I thought the bandwidth idea was for... you know so that us drone people can vary our damage types, just like the missile guys can. Or heck even the projectile speewers can.

I saw a few lasers and stuff, but was more interested in implants... because the patchnotes are not really clear it just says "introduced mordu's and ore items and implants"
So far no mordu's nothing, and I just a few paltry things from ore.

That means people can loot POS that have been shot down!.

oh and also, i think there is a typo on the drone bandwith:
Frigs are shown with 25Mbit/s, but then you mention the ishkur as an exception.
That would mean all frigs are able to use 5 small drones, and only the ishkur has that plus some drone space. That doesn't sound right. ------ aka BinderAJ |

I have a question........ These two snippets:
-It will no longer be possible to use the cargohold of a ship stored in a ship maintenance array for additional storage. Only charges will be storable.
-Carrier ship maintenance bays have been increased by 100%.
Two seperate items same area different meaning, now are they the same thing or not? is one a carrier based item and one a POS item or is it the same thing?
are not "arrays" a POS mod and "bays" a ship item? ---------------------------------

Someone has to die for nerfing the dictors to hell and still not touching the vagabond. The ceptor changes are good as are the ECM changes - an unnerf which clearly shows that the first one was stupid. I'm wondering? Who does CCP listen too the most. The PvP'ers or the whiners? The dictor changes are a disaster!!!! Now they are just big ass pieces of flying bubblewrap.

Oh well.
Quote:
- During production, blueprint waste and character waste are now rounded off after all other computations have been done. This results in more accurate waste figures than before.
- Waste rounding up/down is no longer applied inconsistently when calculating the waste of multi-run manufacturing jobs.
Your really do intend to go live with this insanity.
Creating a situation where a 1-run production batch can take 1 of material A and a 100-run production batch of the same items needs 149 of material A should not be listed as a fix but as a malicious act of insanity.
You can find the bugreports stating these problems in the "Filtered and Dismissed" group and a nice little discussion here.
Just out of curiousity, was this Dr.Eyjog approved?
Apart from destroying the production side of the game, nice PvE and PvP enhancements. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

Carriers are not transports/freighters. You shouldn't be able to use the same ship for solo PvP, group PvP, PvE, AND transporting your goods. There shouldn't a single ship that does everything.
Read the GDF thread
You'll see the more reasonable among the carrier pilots were asking for a decrease in the capability of carriers' hauling abilities, instead of an illogical wholesale abandonment of the idea of a ship in the SMB being assembled. It's a damn double-standard to say that a ship in the SMB is assembled, but can't hold certain types of cargo. It's either assembled, or it isn't. We offered alternatives, and CCP feigned interest, which is better than the last carrier cargo nerf, where we were just ignored, but playing with us, pretending to listen to us just to placate us, is just childish. Would it have been so hard to prevent overloaded ships from being put in the SMB? The ship modules aren't effective when the ship isn't piloted, so if you fill a rigged, T2'd I-5 and then hop out of it, your cargo is like 35k m3 out of 6.5k m3. Just stop that scenario from happening, and force carrier-pilot haulers to be extremely inefficient, instead of implementing a half-arsed game mechanic to force the damn jump freighters down our throats.
That's what the ECM nerf did. The modules are inefficient on non-specialised boats, but you can still rig up a badger with jammers, or dampeners, for baiting. This whole game has a consistent element of freedom of choice about it. The freedom to fit a ship however you like, for established standard fitting or devious fits. This carrier nerf is indicative of a purely linear direction: use ship A for role B, or don't use it at all.

THIS, srsly. Nice to see ppl (or whos ever alts those are) wetting themselves over new graphics. Just so amazed about the ability to make so drastic changes without giving any kind of explanation to things (dictors, carriers etc). Do you really lack the words to back the changes or what is it that they can't be talked over?

Not really- the stat described by CCP as rate of fire is in fact the time between successive shots. It's a bit more elegant than stating that a torp launcher fires 0.076 missiles per second, but it needs relabelling. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Edited by: Alekseyev Karrde on 29/11/2007 13:02:28 I'm disappointed at the Eos nerf and sensor damp nerf, but even more so because ECM is getting an ginourmous buff!
The Eos will now have less DPS than it's T1 equivilent, and it's bread and butter warfare link is far less effective. It's now been reduced to just another nano hac bc by the extra lowslot addition and the reduced effectiveness of it's links. Now, it's an Ishtar, but even more nanoable. I thought Fleet Commandships were supposed to help their gangs not be solopwnntanknanomobiles?
As Sensor Dampeners get hit by the Script nerf, which i'm not altogether against, ECMs are getting a buff. ECM ships are getting an increase in their effectiveness bonuses and ECM itself is getting a *massive* cap reduction. Sensor Dampers: same cap as before, just less useful. Not to mention the Electronic Superiority link is only getting a reduction to it's benifits to dampening and tracking disrupter ships.
I would have liked to have seen the balance changes for the Eos been a bit more creative, and the nerfs for EWAR more even handed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -Alekseyev Ambassador, Fleet Commander, Council Member =The Royal Guard= "=TRG=Public" Channel www.rgrocks.com

Quote: * Docking in a Carrier or Rorqual ship while having multiple corp hangar windows open should no longer throw exceptions.
I didn't know it was possible to dock at a rorqual.
Or have i misunderstood it, maybe it refers to using the rorqual to dock at a station and not for someone else to dock in the rorqual. If so maybe this part of the patch notes should be clarified to avoid confusion?
Another related question, is it possible to clone jump from a rorqual to a station?

Ok, time for my question
This, what it mean?
# The maximum runs of Tech 2 Hybrid, Laser and Projectile blueprints have been increased from 10 to 100.
# Max production run of Barrage M blueprint has been changed from 10 to 100.
The first point, it is referred to ammunition or the weapons ?
It has some effect on invented T2 ammunition or only on BPC from BPO?
Why not missiles and drones (drones are ammunition, way more expendable after the patch)?

There has to be some error in the details for drone bandwidth.
Because if there isn't then CCP is completely destroying the gallente ships.
I would really like a table released that shows every ship, its bandwidth, and drone bay. Because right now it looks like as a gallente pilot specializing in drones (newish character, only 8m sp) my entire universe is getting thrown into the ****ter.

The Raven still only has a drone bay of 75m3, meaning it can only field 3 heavies or 5 med/small drones. Essentially no change from now, thus a moot point. The drone changes are great, and this is coming from a purely gallente specced pilot.

Note: Killmails received before trinity in your concord evemails will not be included in the new system.
Killmail Enhancements
ò Killmails will no longer truncate the involved parties. ò Killmails will now include rigs. ò Killmails will now include dropped as well as destroyed items. ò Killmails will include damage dealt for each involved party. ò Killmails will now be properly translated.
ò The Industrial Core and Capital Tractor Beam modules have been restricted to fit only to Capital Industrial Hulls, the CPU has been lowered to 100 and CPU bonus effect has been removed from the Rorqual.
The following additions and changes have been made to the patch notes:
Additions ò Push-to-talk button settings are no longer saved per client, but per account. ò A font kerning issue that occurred when adding special characters to the shipÆs name has been fixed. ò The UI timer for jamming will no longer exceed 20 seconds. ò A newly deployed starbase will not have a forcefield bubble until a password is set and the UI shows the forcefield as 'active' (status can be seen on the panel you set the password on). ò The description of Reactor Arrays have been clarified. ò The consumption rate of Strontium Clathrates has been doubled for control towers in reinforced mode, which leads to the maximum reinforced times being halved to up to 2.5 days with all sovereignty bonuses (around 1.5 days with no bonuses). ò A minor issue with item exchange contracts not being able to identify stacks of items has been resolved. ò Clicking the "x" on the start page for contracts assigned now correctly clears the information in the window. ò Asteroids will no longer be extremely far from the center of the belt.
Changes All anchored containers in solar systems with security levels between 0.8 and 1.0 will be removed from space. Player owned cans will be moved into the character's home station (clone location). Corporation cans will be moved to the HQ. have been moved into their owner's hangar at the last station they visited.
You will now appear on killmails if you shoot only the drones of the target ship. Previously, only those firing on the ship itself would appear on the killmail.

Sure lots of new stuff, but why CCP have to turn useless the gallente recons ships in the process, how hard is not to do that?
Originally by: Patch Notes
The sensors have been optimized for locking up to 10 targets at a time, but with sensor strengths comparable to cruisers the Marauders can be jammed quite easily if they are not hardened with ECCM
The ECM strength bonus for the Falcon has been increased to 20%, the Scorpion, Blackbird and Griffin now have a 15% bonus.
The capacitor need of ECM modules has been reduced by 40%
Remote sensor dampeners have been reduced in effectiveness
So only who fly caldari can make effective EW against Marauders, why? Can CCP explain that?
Another thing that is sad, CCP ignore completely some of the feedback given by the players.
WOW new graphics!!!

2 Kieron: i have one, very important, question:
In patch notes we can see "Sansha mk 2 has been implemented; Sansha faction ships now focus exclusively on energy turrets exclusively and shield tanking. They receive a fixed 100% damage bonus to make up for the few hardpoints they have (which frees up utility high slots), as well as 7.5% tracking and 5% damage bonuses per level. "
What will be with ship Nightmare? It will be T2 Marauder? I saw its new characteristics, but skill requirements are the same, and bonuses too...BUT, there is a mistake. The ship hasn't now any launcher slots, but has bonus 5% to cruise missile speed per caldari BS skill level (correct please) So, can you say what will be with skill requirements and bonuses for this "new" Nightmare? Thanks.
P.S.: i want old version of this ship :)

Everything else is grand. Looking forward to it!
The Raven still only has a drone bay of 75m3, meaning it can only field 3 heavies or 5 med/small drones. Essentially no change from now, thus a moot point. The drone changes are great, and this is coming from a purely gallente specced pilot.
you are right, almost no ships suffered from the drone changes but the ishkur (who cares ^^) and the eos (absolutely reasonable, but i'll still miss the old eos).

Quote: No, that's not in the notes - but the nothing but ammo rule in your maint array cans is in there.... And i'd almost bet that with bandwidth introduced on the lesser classes the drone nerf is covertly present. I'm debating doing a trade-in program, give people rorquals for their now nerfed carriers...
Quote: It will no longer be possible to use the cargohold of a ship stored in a ship maintenance array for additional storage. Only charges will be storable.
This is a one liner so i think it refers to all capital transport type ships RORQUAL included. not sure swopping carrriers for rorquals will overcome this nerf. (i know that it was tongue in cheek) but seriously is this nerf accross dreads, carriers motherships and rorquals? or just carriers/dreads?
Quote: Need for Speed (drones): The rate of fire for all drones has been doubled to decrease the number of server calls drones are making. Drone damage was doubled to balance the RoF change. Sentry drones and fighters are not affected by any of these changes.
ok maybe i have lost the plot. double rate of fire = double chanse of damage so you will then double the damage aswell so that makes it for times as powerful maybe drone nerf is not that bad 2 ogre II = 5 ogre IIs.
Should that not be RATE OF FIRE HALVED thus damage doubled?

This was answered above someplace... the Rate of Fire is measured in Seconds (Between Shots), so when the rate of fire is doubled, it means the shots fired in a given period is halved... --------*****-------- It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but it doesn't take any to just sit there with a dumb look on your face.

On SISI there's also changes to the way bounties and related security status changes are collected and allocated that don't appear to be mentioned in the patch notes...
Bounties are now grouped together into one credit to the players wallet and corp wallet for tax based on a per encounter entry.
Mouse over on the transaction entry will give a breakdown of the number of ships destroyed granting bounty.
The credit of the bounty to the player is delayed (probably to allow time for DED to confirm the amount and allocate funds to the correct participants?)
Security Status changes are also delayed pending confirmation of the activity
So if these changes also are implemented in Trinity patch coming don't be surprised if your wallet doesn't blink as much and the balance increase as frequently and instantly as before ... threw me a little at first

I am sick to my stomach and sadned to see what ccp has done to the EOS. The Tech 1 Vexor now has the same drone capabilities as the tech 2 EOS, Not to mention the fact that a HAC(Galente can not walk circles around the EOS in drone bay space. so basically the EOS is done with Drones you might as well not even put drones on cuase they are just something else yur going to lose when you pop. And you will pop considering that not only di d they nerf the EOS drones they also cut the turret hard points down to 5. So basiaclly the EOS is good if you like doing lvl 2 missions and having extra unused high slots for salvagers.
I know what yur going to say, Well man you got 3 gang modules!! Right have you ever equipped gang Modules, the bonus they give you is pathetic. For example the armor resistance gang module gives you a whopping 1% gain to yur resistance. 1% for crying out loud unless off course you have a MINDLINK which will give you 2%
So let's see 80 million isk ship and 5 months of training to use gang modules and then IF you happen to be in a gang you can Buff 4 gang mates max by 2% at a cost of 25 energy per cycle. What a joke.
You know and that isn't even the point, the point is that ccp keeps making it harder and harder to solo anything,. And be honest how many people log in and just want to play the dang game and have fun,. they don't want to log in and take a survey of who all else is on and then find out what everyone else wants to do, and then if everyone happens to be ready at that time then you get to play, otherwise you just sit in the station and chat.
SCREW GANGS AND CORPS HOW ABOUT SOME LOVE FOR THE INDIVIDUALS, THE SOLO PILOTS!
How about a safe space Habitat module for non BLOB players, that play in npc corps. How about and unemploeed status so anarchis can leave their corp. leave the NPC Corp and trully be free men.
But MOSt of all How about giving DRONE ONLY, or DRONE INtenisive characters the ability to choose to give up turrets for more bandwidth for drones so they can actually use some of their 6 million sp in drones in something besides a battleship or a mothership/
Is it the goal of ccp to drive all drone pilots to motherships, is that what ccp want huge blobs of motherships. Infact Caldari Motherships since every one is going to have to be caldari to make enough money to afford a mothership they might as well just stay Caldari and get a Caldari mothership.
No wait I figured it out, They owners of Eve are Actually in Real Life Caldari Marroned here in a crash landing in Roswell, New Mexico, and they are trying to get everyone so used to losing to Caldari superiority that when their Mother ship does arrive to pick them up we will not even fight back cuase we will already know that it is a lost cuase!! That is it the Conspiracy is to Make Caldari's the supreme Race of all the others so everyone sooner or later joins them or at least does not fight back against them.
I am SURE the New Graphics of my EOS Exploding are going to be spectacular, Hooray.
I got both thumbs up for ccp for new graphics and faster speeds etc etc..
But I got two fingers up too for the DRONE NERF. I will let you guess which two. wink wink

I've heard many people complain the same thing, but CCP have already got an answer. If you look at the technology that these ships use to travel faster than light, the ship is technically not in the same "dimension" if you will, there is a bubble surrounding the ship that has no matter in it at all, so everything passes through it faster than it normally would, even in space. There are also more than one way to steer a ship in space. They could use Nozzled thrusters to turn the ship.
All this and much MUCH more info can be found here http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2//pdf/eve_v1.4_black.pdf

What the hell are you talking about? have you looked at the gang modules? Have you ever used one? the armored warfare - passive defense link, is what i assume your talking about. When you fit it, on the Amarr cmd ship, its gives 10-20% boost to all armor resists, that is pretty good. And you can give it to a whole fleet, not just 4 people? Where the hell did you get 1% ???? Besides that, the Eos uses the information warfare links.

Erm....
WHY?
I can understand the part about "we don't want POSes to be in reinforced for 3 days", as reinforced is (IIRC) only meant to move an attack from a bad TZ to a better TZ for you, not to muster forces and move defenses into place.
That is, I did expect something like this. I just expected them to reduce the stront bay size, not increase the stront consumption amount
Also, boo! for removing the "shooting drones gets you on kill mails" thing.
Otherwise: AWESOME! Seriously. CCP, this expansion is AWESOME.

It is not in any way intended to be a solo wtfpwnmobile!
Its role is supposed to be to provide warfare link support to its fleet, while having good tank to protect itself and some relatively limited form of self-defence weapons. You should also not put the wrong gang modules on it. FYI, the EOS is specialised for the Information Gang modules, not the Armor ones.

Carriers are not transports/freighters. You shouldn't be able to use the same ship for solo PvP, group PvP, PvE, AND transporting your goods. There shouldn't a single ship that does everything.
Finally some wise words about the carrier nerf!
I'm getting tired of all those people whining about it. You've done the right thing CCP. Carriers are meant for battle, not logistics. I've never seen a carrier in real life used for transporting planes filled with exotic spices or something similar. Using carriers for logistic purposes in EVE ruins the spirit of the game, as does any other trick that's unrealistic/weird, like bumping a larger ship away with a shuttle or some other small ship, or using a login trap, logging off to escape death, basicly things that your imagination can't see happening for real in several thousands of years from now, we are trying to simulate the future, aren't we? It's not just about playing a game to win with any means necessary regardless of how unlogical the strategy sounds if this universe were real.
Otherwise we could just make flying donuts or something shooting blobs of sugar at each other. So thank you CCP for making sure the game makes sense.
I don't understand the complaints anyway, CCP gave you jumpfreighters in return, didn't they? What's wrong with using them instead? Looking at it in a way I just described, using JF's makes much more sense.

* Asteroids will no longer be extremely far from the center of the belt. * The consumption rate of Strontium Clathrates has been doubled for control towers in reinforced mode, which leads to the maximum reinforced times being halved to up to 2.5 days with all sovereignty bonuses (around 1.5 days with no bonuses).
these are interesting changes but i have a question * You will now appear on killmails if you shoot only the drones of the target ship. Previously, only those firing on the ship itself would appear on the killmail.
does this mean this change is not happening or is it only crossed out because of the section added on killmails?

I would like to respond with a resound NO to trading illegal items on the open market.
There are 3 threads already discussing this. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=646743 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=646747 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=647256
This change will severely negatively impact my play and ignores some serious storyline elements. ---- Yo-con Die-foo-koo |

Sorry if this was posted earlier, I don't have time to read the whole thread, but this does not make sense to me. If ROF has been doubled and damage has been doubled would not the overall damage be quadrupled with double the number of server calls?

Dont overdraw things here so much oO Im hunting with torpedos myself, but i dont see much of a difference to do except i will fit an MWD now instead of AB to be faster in range and perhaps tweak the tanking ability a bit... But seriously, half the stuff in 0.0 you can easily take down with t1 equiped BCs, and the rest easily with every BS... you might get a bit reduced killspeed for some weeks to skill something else, but it force anyone to being unable to make money there

CCP's meaning of RoF is the time between shots, not the number of shots per minute.

Singularity will be off-line during most of the deployment. A part of the deployment process is an off-line backup of the Tranquility database, which is then immediately transferred to and restored on the test database.
Originally by: Maximillian Cortez If I decide to download all the lovely shiny new stuff and it ends up running like a pile of poo will i be able to simply switch it off or will it mean a re-install?
You will be able to select between the Classic art content and the Premium art content.
Originally by: SillyWaif I am keeping my SiSi install up to date. Will I be able to switch from SiSi to TQ on December 6th without getting the Premium content all over again?
No, you will have to download the final expansion material intended for Tranquility.
Originally by: Sithi So, tell me there's going to be an option to use the old graphics for those of us that have older hardware? I hope I don't have to quit eve because of a lack of ability to load the game.. Don't get me wrong; I'm all for the updated graphics and features. I just hope my system will be able to handle it at more then the 3-4 fps I'm getting now.
You will have the option of using the Classic client (i.e. the client with the Classic art content only) or the Premium client (same client, but with both Classic and Premium art content). In the Premium client you can select which art content to use.
Originally by: 000Hunter000 Erm, now don't get me wrong, it looks great and all but wasn't this patch also to contain ambulation? why is it that i no longer see any hint of that on the trinity site? Has this part been postponed? and if so, why?
It was never the intention that this expansion would contain Ambulation.
Originally by: Naga Elohim I cannot see any graphical updates on the test server. I have a GeForce 6800 on both of my computers and i still can't see the new graphics. Is this gonna be available to only those with $500 video cards or what. Im kinda dissapointed....
This is interesting since the 6800 should support DX9 SM3. Please file a bug report including DxDiag information on your system. Also try this tool.
Originally by: maGz Nice... BUT those of us who prepared for Black Ops by, oh I don't know buying the Jump Portal Gen skill basically just got screwed by CCP for 400 mil
It's only final when it's on Tranquility. You speculate based on test server information at your own risk.

Edited by: Campusanis on 01/12/2007 00:43:08 I think I've asked this before in another thread but didn't get an answer: Why is the new graphics content restricted in the way that it won't even download without a SM3 compatible video card?
I'm asking because I'm one of the poor souls who purchased an ATI X### (X700 in my case) card, which was made in a time when ATI thought SM3 wasn't necessary. However, these cards' Pixel Shader 2b does seem to provide the same amount of Shader instructions as "real" Pixel Shader 3.0 (see this Wikipedia article). I remember the main point made by dev was something about insufficient instruction slots.
Of course, there still are differences between the two shader models (and what do I know) but you should be able to try (particularly, _I_ should be able to try :P ).

BOOOO!!! CCP sure know how to put the "Suc" into Succubus! There goes all my long hard work in missiles skills that made this "premium" ship fun and usefull to zip through lower lvl missions (honestly ... who uses faction ships in PVP anyway?!) And taking away 2 lo-slots is dropping it's slots by 18% .. that's a fair bit... that means a Punisher has more slots and can actually armor tank. I agree with Del Narveux in saying at least another mid slot is called for it as 1 mid is def going to be needed for an AB. I think I'll put the dust cover on this ship now. I'd try to sell it to an Amarr though as we can see by Dr Eyjog's latest economic report (16% of pod-pilots are Amarr) they are a dying breed. And those that are left will most likly be flying Caldari ships anyway.

Actual stats to go along with my earlier post, plus comments on some of the other stuff.
Sansha changes The problem, as I previously alluded to but Im not sure I totally got the point across, is that unless they get more medslots sansha ships will go from okay tanks and crappy damage dealers to crappy tanks and okay damage dealers. I will explain using the Nightmare. Post patch, it will effectively have 8 lasers (plus one 'utility' slot for nos or w/e), 4 medslots, 5 lowslots. Even a cruiser has better slot layouts than that, and the 8-gun firepower, while nice, only really puts it on par with apoc or geddon and they can both tank stuff.
So heres my suggested sansha changes -Swap shield HP and armor HP values, right now theyre heavy on armor like good little amarr ships. -Nightmare slot layout: 6 high/ 6 med/ 5 low. -Phantasm slot layout: 5 high/5 med/ 4 low. -Succubus slot layout: 3/4/3
This way, they would actually be able to shieldtank as advertised and have enough utility slots to justify the fact that theyre still basically short one bonus compared to other races.
Inties I may have missed the memo, are they adding a new -3 or 30km or some other such cap-intensive scrambler? Cause I fly inties and dont really have enough of a cap problem to justify that role bonus. Dont get me wrong, gift horses and all that but I just dont really see the need. Props on the range bonus for the non-DDer inties though, they really do need some love.
Drone Love Would it be possible to give the Arbitrator series the same bandwidth and dronebay as Vexor? Alternatively, maybe give Arbie slightly better stats, like an extra highslot or something. This seems like a wee nerf to the one amarr cruiser that doesnt totally suck, sure that drone bay looks nice but frankly I havent been in a whole lot of situations where I was thinking "gee, I wish my arbie could have 3 full sets of drones".
Missions You say that a bunch of missions have been "adjusted" for NFS, does this mean there will be less swarms of little ships for L3+ missions? That would be sweet, not only for less server calls but also it would give gunboats more of a fighting chance compared to the ubiquitous kills-anything raven. _________________ [SAK] Alumnus--And Proud Of It! -- aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

Kieron post is a bit misleading. Unless something will change in the next few days, Nightmare, Phantasm and succubus will not lose the low slot, they will exchange them for mid slots, i.e. the Nightmare new slot layout will be 6/7/5 (not 6/4/5 as it appear reading the post), the same happen for the other Sansha ships.
On a personal interest level, I find unclear this 2 notes:
- The maximum runs of Tech 2 Hybrid, Laser and Projectile blueprints have been increased from 10 to 100.
- Max production run of Barrage M blueprint has been changed from 10 to 100.
The first is referred to the ammunitions or the weapon?
For the second, why Barrage M has been singled out?
For both: the number of run of the T2 BPC produced throug invention is influenced by the number of max production runs that the T2 BPc can have. This change will increase the max number of runs on an invented BPC?

Good luck man. I had a Boat load of fun with CCP about my GeForce 6800 card. but this was with the old client. I am sorry to say, but CCP has little knowledge displayed about the card on this website. Trust me I know, I spent a good week in frustration on the forums/GM petitions. I got to the point to send the card back to see if that was the problem. whitch brings me to my questions. Has this new client been fully tested with the GeForce 6? If not, you lost a customer.

Kieron, can you shed some light onto this issue. The patch notes still states this, and there has been a couple of patches deployed on sisi, since they were made. However the bandwidths are still not true for most of the ship types.
Originally by: Chruker I'm curious about this part:

No, unfortunately your card can't handle Shader Model 3, it's not even capable of ATI's Model 2b, so you'll definitely have to stick to the Classic version (that is, graphics as they are now, only new engine, which could mean better performance).

However I would expect that the graphics card might be a bit weak to run EVE at an enjoyable framerate with the high-resolution content, so I would encourage you to try and compare the tables on this page about the best graphics cards currently for different price groups: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/11/06/best_graphics_card/page2.html

Current stats on sisi (build 44778) are: 50 mbit/s, 50 m3 drone space: Hulk, Mackinaw, Covetor 25 mbit/s, 25 m3 drone space: Retriever 15 mbit/s, 15 m3 drone space: Skiff 5 mbit/s, 5 m3 drone space: Procurer
Given that the drone bandwidths listed in the patchnotes are still not true for the majority of the ships. I don't know if the mining barges will stay like this. But it is the stats they have atm.

Usually, the patch only become available at the end of the patch period, which would be thursday 6th at 2.00GMT. Unless of course they finish early or later. So your EVE will be disconnected, when the downtime starts. At which point you can just close it.
After that you can just check the the eve-online.com website for news. They usually post a news item as soon as TQ is open again.
When the patch eventually becomes available your client should offer to download it, when you start the game.

The removement of ancored containers from 0.8 to 1.0 system is a very good idea. But why you don¦t remove also containers from 0.5 to 0.7 systems? If you fly into a belt in those systems, you can¦t see any asteroid because of these **** containers. Who need this? If you mine alone you have sometimes a problem there with ore thiefs - right. But if you mine in systems lower than 0.9 then you should be able to use drones for your protection. And a ore thief will get a agression so you can fight him.

Im running trinity 2.0 on coreduo 1.7mhz, ati X1400 128mb at 1400x1050 and its has better fps than old engine (mainly very near gate, clouds) / but with shadows off. i think this is the best choice for this kind of GPU. graphics is still amazing and fast even in big number of ships in front of station. when you put shadows on, you can play eve in 40fps 1024x768, but you are screwed when you meet some bigger gang. i thing because big textures its better to play with higher resolition shadows off than 1024x768 with shadows on (not too much difference).

Smells like astroturfing to me.......
real life comparisons are meaningless, don't bother with them.
How do you know what they are "meant" for? Up until a little while ago ships were able to do whatever the imagination of the player base came up with - no longer sadly :( every ship is now to be forced into a tiny windowed role with no place for creativity.
People don't do logistics in carriers for fun - they certainly don't wander about carrying exotic spices - are you drunk? or is it just that you have never flown a carrier for logistics. If there were a better practical alternative people would use it - there isn't and the introduction of a tech II invention only jump freighter isn't going to change that for a long time....
Go fly a carrier or at least read the relevant threads before you post - and to CCP: thanks for listening to the feedback from carrier pilots, next time don't even pretend to listen, just go ahead and do whatever............ |

This nerf is not thought through. PLEASE tell me why you didn¦t increase the ship volume of haulers? This would bring the same result, but with much less bad consequences (like being unable to scoop an inty, which has loot in it¦s cargohold).

Yet another utterly ridiculous consequence that could have been easily avoided by doing away with this supremely moronic nerf, and simply increasing hauler volume.

Solo PvP in a carrier is a freaking myth. It's time that was recognized.
A single ewar ship can completely jam a carrier (I know I've done it a billion times) so that it can't rep other carriers, and it really doesn't take much to take one down. A 3m cruiser can render a 1.3b (before fittings) ship useless.
I saw 6 taken down in a single encounter last week. By an entirely non-capital fleet. There were almost 2 moms killed as well, but the lag screwed with our dictors.
Anyone who believes that carriers are pwnmobiles has never flown one. It's that simple.

I don't really get the point of drone bandwidth.
IE: in my covetor, the bay is 50 m3. 5 drones, each 10 m3, and I can field 5. 'K.
So they are limiting ships to basically the SAME limit they have now? Whats the point of that? Unless they increase the bay size so you can use mining drones, then recall and toss out fighters, or recall your fighters and toss out repair drones. And to do that, you'd need a bigger bay anyways.

As I've said before, blanket nerfs are not a good idea, and not well thought through. And yes, I'm using the Arazu as my example... deal with it.
An Arazu has two purposes. To Scout and Lock Down an Enemy for a gang. And to support a fleet with the same thing.
Without adjusting the bonuses on the Arazu, it's now a fairly useless ship for both of it's roles. I cannot lock down and pin an enemy and await for reinforcements, if he can target and smoke me in a few seconds.
RSD's are the life/death of Arazu's. This needs to be seriously reconsidered.
I admit freely that RSD's are overpowered in general, but ships made specifically to survive by their use, need to keep their current status quo.

Drone bandwidth is implemented to allow dedicated drone-boats (and others) to bring along reinforcement-wave drones, and at the same time limit them from fielding five heavies on a cruiser.
Big dronebay in Rev = bigger drones, but still just 5. Big dronebay in Trin = Limited by bandwidth, thus still fielding med drones, but can bring a lot more, so if they go pop, launch another. Or bring several kinds of drones for different damagetypes etcetc.
And about the ratting payout:
Once you kill an NPC, a clock starts ticking. Every NPC you kill (belt rat or mission rat) during that time gets accumulated to one big payout. That payout will be payed if you jump system (unsure about that) or if you wait 25 minutes. You still get the same payout. This is to reduce database read/writes and increase performance overall. Imagine you kill 80 rats. That's 80 writes in the database, and 80 writes in your wallet. Now, imagine you kill those rats in less than 40 minutes. That's 2 writes in your wallet, and 2 to the database. Some increase in performance, hmm?

Imagine you kill 80 rats. That's 80 writes in the database, and 80 writes in your wallet. Now, imagine you kill those rats in less than 40 minutes. That's 2 writes in your wallet, and 2 to the database. Some increase in performance, hmm?

Yes, but the transactions have to be stored somewhere before the credit to your wallet, question is where?

The solarsystem node's memory propably, if they hope to decrease the amount of DB transactions with it. Changing the bounty payouts from single payout to blob payout, also means less data for the server to send to your client.

Awesome stuff CCP, seriously. i doubt WOW would ever get something quite this big. especially love the heat improvements and drone bandwidth thing. they'll both increase tactical options, and really make you have to make decisions in battle. We are, after all, flying big Spaceships, and ships are generally complicated. i dont understand the people who wont combat overly simplified, its just stupid.

The one thing I'm concerned about is whether or not we'll be able to DL the full (enhanced graphics/client) expansion as either patch or gross client install from the site Out of Game, or if the only way to get the extra graphical stuff is through background DL while playing. I log on to EVE from a dial up line, so it would be physically impossible for me to DL this at home. I can however DL it from school and transport the data back, but not in game, as the client won't run here. --------------------------------------

The reason for being grumpy about your question is that every single patch this question gets asked over and over. It's not a problem unique to EVE. The problem of people not knowing how to use the sodding search function before posting a question exists on just about every forum on the web.
As far as I'm aware (and my searches reveal) CCP has never refunded anyone for upgrade downtime. Given that the game's been running 4 years, I'd take that as a pretty big hint.

Won't the change to bounties hurt new players? Currently, a new player running lvl 1 missions won't pay tax, because each individual kill doesn't pay enough bounty to trigger the corp tax rate. But if it is paid as a lump sum, these low-isk bounties (which I assumed were untaxed to help new players) will have a high enough total to trigger the tax.

I believe tax is calculated per bounty. Therefore you still won't pay tax. However if it is ONLY per transaction then this may cause an issue ...

Yep you cant beat a real fast clean efficient PC for the 1st 36 hours of restarts after a patch like this. Still it gives the regular forum idiots here time to post mindless drivvel about how bad ccp are as programmers and db managers.

Also, the effect that makes ships visible while cloaked is extremely annoying as-is. |

People outside of the IT industry seldom understand "service down-time."
For those who have this difficulty of understanding WHY there has to be a down day, I'll bring it down to a generally understandable level:
Picture an amazing roller coaster. It's just freaking awesome, and everyone loves it, but now the owners want to add an extra 750 meters of track with some amazing new twists and turns. They also want to replace the cars that go on the roller coaster with something newer, more exciting looking and with pictures of very pretty men and women in revealing bathing suits. Now, everyone would appreciate that.
The only problem is, for that extra 750m to get there and the new pretty cars to go on the tracks, the roller coaster will have to be closed down. There isn't any magical way of letting people ride the roller coaster while it's being upgraded, because the track now doesn't connect in that wonderful circle that allows people to ride the roller coaster without dying.
To ride this roller coaster, you have to have a monthly pass, so everyone that paid for a season pass (let's say it costs 14.95 a month) doesn't get to use the roller coaster for a day. Oh my goodness, they've just lost 50 cents! Now, what is the chance that the very next day, with the upgrades, the extra 750 meters of track... the beautiful men and women in revealing bathing suits plastered all over the cars (I'm just using that as an analogy for beautiful graphics), what's the chance that seeing all of that isn't worth an extra 50 cents?

Interesting decision... So, i'm hunting for a 24 minutes. At 25 minute i must recive bounty payout, but instead of this i can recive "server unavailable due database issues"... Old database transaction system was simple: NPC->money (database transaction). Now i can get: NPC->may be money->server memory cache->database transaction. Moreover, I can't check my bounty for every ship.
CCP-style database speed improvements - fantastic. "We have database perfomance issues, but we solve it by decreasing service level of our customers". I don't understand it....

How's this? 1) Buy stuff, put in anchored can in 0.8 space. 2) Move Death Clone to 0.0 Outpost. 3) Post-patch, open cans of stuff that have been automagically transported to aforementioned 0.0 Outpost. 4) Profit! |

This is the biggest change in the patch and I am suprised it has not received more attention. There are going to be literally thousands of POSes popped in the first couple of weeks of this patch. All those 2 man empire corps with no guns and 12 labs will be war decced and destroyed immediately. I can not wait.

Unfortunately, your theory doesn't work out. With ther being less server traffic from less server calls, you will not get messages indicating the server is too busy. Why? Because it no longer is.
Todays "layman termed" example: Car pooling.
Put yourself in this theoretical situation: You live in a city that is constantly increasing in population, but the roads cannot be expanded any more than they already are. The roads are now so over-used that people trying to get to work.
Now, the name of this city is "Fire-ville," not because anything's on fire, but because you get fired when you don't get to your job on time. Each little server call giving you bounty moneys is like one person from this town who needs to get to their job on time.
Unfortunately, with these busy roads, some people are not getting to work on time, so they cannot get paid and are fired for being late.
Each one of these people drives their own cars, so this contributes to traffic problems. The more traffic there is, the slower the traffic becomes, and the more people aren't getting to their jobs... especially since the population of Fire-ville is constantly increasing. Thus, there's only one solution to allow everyone to keep their jobs: reduce the traffic. This is done, simply, with carpooling. Now, instead of 1 Fire-villian being in each car, there are 5. This reduces the traffic on the roads by 80%. Now that there has been an 80% reduction in traffic volume, the roads are clearer, there are no traffic jams and people are always getting to their jobs on time.
With the reduction of server calls comes an increase in server availability. Quite simply said, tallying your bounties and releasing the moneystuffs to you on a timed interval is like carpooling your bounties. Sure, you can't track the exact amount you were getting from every bounty, but you are now GETTING every bounty. Further more, the amount of money you get from a bounty isn't a mystery. Look in your overview under the item-selected portion. The bounty is, what, the third or fourth line?
I've you're so dead set on tallying how much every individual bounty was worth, write it down. I am quite sure the general consensus across people who play this game is that they would prefer getting money for every bounty they get.
Sorry, another wordy response. But I work in the IT industry and can't stand people making rediculous claims and complaints. Putting disillusioned clients (ie. those paying for the product and service) at a state of piece of mind (or atleast putting them in their place) is what my job is all about. ;)
Ok, another example... Do you have credit card? You need some cash. Cash machine get your card, you make request for money and see message like "Sorry. We have some database perfomance issues. You need wait a 25-30 mins before you can get your cash". How do you like it? I'm working in IT consulting company and i can give you a lot of variants of increasing DB perfomance. But... all of them require some money on additional servers, additional DB licenses and etc. Some economy on customers service level and we don'n need to invest additional money in game hardware and software.

Is this new math where on a number line 0.0 comes between 0.8 and 1.0?
(still a clever idea though)
How's this? 1) Buy stuff, put in anchored can in 0.8 space. 2) Move Death Clone to 0.0 Outpost. 3) Post-patch, open cans of stuff that have been automagically transported to aforementioned 0.0 Outpost. 4) Profit!

Yes, and the difference being that people pay 50 cents a day to play EVE. When someone needs money from their credit card they need it. Last time I checked, real life wasn't a game.
When it comes to a game, and comes to the fact that the services charges paid by the client are minimal at best, solutions end up like this. I'm sure CCP would be more than happy to increase the amount of hardware on site, but how happy is everyone else going to be paying doubled (or higher) operational costs? The answer is "not at all."
Additionally, how long does it take to post a payment to your credit card? These things are not instant, with some credit cards requiring as much as five days waiting period for the payment to the card to be processed.
People are not paid by the second they work, either, nor are they able to have money deposited into their bank account on the hour every hour that they work. They must wait, sometimes two weeks.
In EVE, money is still withdrawn from your account instantly on a purchase (exactly like your credit card scenario).

im not sure if this has been asked in here before, but incase it hasnt.. is this (from the patch notes) a typo or are drones getting an enormous buff?
"Need for Speed (drones): The rate of fire for all drones has been doubled to decrease the number of server calls drones are making. Drone damage was doubled to balance the RoF change. Sentry drones and fighters are not affected by any of these changes."
im thinking the rate of fire has been halved, and damage doubled.. is that correct?

The rate of fire now is 2 secs...so doubling it would be 4 secs...if the same dmg was kept then that would cause drones to be nerfed really hard...so they double the dmg. In total you do the same dmg as before. Like marauders, they have 4 hardpoints, but they have 100% dmg bonus, so it's like having 8 hardpoints...

Ahhh, okay, I get your point. I just have a lot of patience around database issues, because we're using similar database software to what EVE is running. It's deffinitely frustrating, but then again I play these games just to mess around with the mechanics and get a better understanding of how it works. . . so I guess bugs like that don't frustrate me like they do most people. ;)
Honestly I didn't see anything wrong with your english at all, man. :) Just out of curiosity (mostly because you mentioned your "terrible" english), is english your first language?
Disclaimer: that was an honest question not meant to be some sort of personal attack
And yeah... sometimes I have the feeling CCP ignores a lot of user input. From their stand point, though, they're not modifying our world... we're playing in their world. Atleast that's probably how they view it.

well, technically, doubling the rate of fire would bring it to 1 sec. its a semantics thing, but any increase to the rate of anything means speeding it up, which is why that bit confused me. thanks for the clarification tho :)

Exactly. Concord became a bit lazy and is only making payments every 15-20 minutes. All NPC-kills within one system during this time are concentrated into one payment.
Uhhh, how does this affect corporate taxes? Before it was a percent of each kill if it was over a certain limit. Now all payments will most likely be over that limit.
Is this just a way for corps to earn more money? Sucks if you ask me.

The following change was made to the previous entry to the Patch Notes under the Ships listing:
Capital and Capital Industrial class ships (Carriers, Motherships, Titans and Rorquals) with ships stored in the Ship Maintenance Bay with anything other than charges in them, will be unable to undock or add new ships containing anything other than charges after the patch but they can still warp, jump and dock.
Capital and Capital Industrial class ships (Carriers, Motherships, Titans and Rorquals) will need to have ships removed from their ship maintenance arrays before the deployment of EVE: Trinity. Leaving anything other than ammunition or cap booster charges in the array may result in the ship not being able to move, warp or jump.
We apologize for the confusion caused by the mistaken entry.

That is only fully applicable to the Kronos.
The weapons on the Golem and Vargur do not use any cap.
Most Ammarian ships have a 50% bonus to laser cap usage, but the Paladin does not. So you are using 50% less cap than a Abaddon while getting the same damage, or using the same cap as an Apocalypse while getting 25% more damage. The closest cap/damage comparision is to an Armageddon where the Paladin deals 7% more damage and uses 12.5% less cap.

I hope the use of the word "payment" in the post you quoted was a freudian slip :) Because yeah, I agree with you, Tirabi. I'd bet they know what they're doing, though. But it's a very good point.
It's important to realize that this only goes for NPC bounties. Bounties from real-life players are still paid as normal.

Some increase in performance, hmm?
so the corporations collect more tax income too eh? hmmm.... that'll fatten up corp wallets when the noobs go hunting.

Personally, I think it may have been a good idea for CCP to have began offering the updated client like a week early, with an updated version once everything comes back online.
Ya know, that way 30,000 people were'nt trying to download the same 500MB file on 06Dec. The downloads could have been spread out a little, with 30,000 people downloading a few MB in an update on the sixth.
Meh. that's just my 2 cents on an easy way to reduce bandwidth consumption for the expansion. Though, I'm sure there would have been a ton of "I just downloaded the client, and it says incompatable version." or something. Would be nice to have the majority of the download out of the way before hand though.

Trinity looks great. FPS are also normal, around same as Rev2.
Though, as suspected drone got nerfed more. ROF is doubled but dmg is by far not 2x. Maybe dmg 2x mod is forgotten to apply? Takes way longer to kill same angel bs again.
Window positions don't save when quit in station.
Onboard scanner scan degree doesn't save.
