You *HAVE* to get more people on the test servers. You have 8000 players at peak times. Why are there not 100's on the test server? Why aren't you employing more testers? Imho the best way to stop the exloit and not to annoy most of ous would be to :
a) disable cloaks in empire for now.
b) do the nerf only in empire space.
I really thing you would save us a lot of annoyance and yourself lots lots of flames.

Seriously, just use threat of ban and keep it as it is.
tbh - a decloak should only occur within 1k of a ship/gate or station, having a rocket decloak you is silly or players using lots of jet cans. I would even go further to say that you should need a sensor module to even detect cloaked ships imo.

how about adding this to the cloaking code:
uncloak_radius = (sol_sec<0.5||at_war)?1km:10km;
Also, TBH they are only any good in 0.0 space really, so how about:
cloak_enabled = (sol_sec<0.5);
and if it has something to do with sentry guns then this:
cloak_enabled = (sol_sec<0.05);

1km decloak in any sec status area. if you get smartbombed, concord didnt see it, you need to move away, and everyone is fine.

i actually agree with the devs on this one... and believe me i hate to agree with them but having done quite a bit of programming myself mostly scripting for mIRC and a bit of web programming i know how it is... you identify the problem, hot fix the problem, release the stable upcomming release and then fix the problem and send a patch out.... my mIRC script is only 10MB in size but let me tell you when your editing scripted files of those sizes hunting down and finding a bug that could merely be a " . " or some other typo can take a LONG time.... ive had problems that were caused by a totally unrelated part of my script which actually corrupted and fried a copy of windows xp on my old irc dev box.. in short its better this way cus you need to test your fixes to be sure they wont do perm damage to the user system... alot of ppl who are talking lazy have no idea what goes into programming and how difficult it truly is... now i do agree that it sux with the 10km nerf but personally id rather have that then the instability we have now and id also rather have that then a rushed fix thats gonna cause more instabilities and problems...

ps - dont complain about lazy dev's until you write a program in equal size to all the relavent game data in both the eve-client and eve-servers =)
Oh and devs if you make me look bad in stickin up for you and dont fix it im gonna be very very angry and you wotn like me when im angry =)
