Note to add that I remember a similar problem after Kali, Empyrean Age was fine. Still unusable today.

Edited by: Chiu Freood on 14/11/2008 21:58:47 I'm having the same problem - running two clients at same time (on seperate PC's - both Vista and both classic), and they both drop out at different times and after different period of time.

Was anyone running a music program in the background when it happened?
I always run Winamp while I'm playing Eve (and turn off in-game music). |

I am having this problem as well. Was rock stable for as long as I can remember, now this started happening just a few hours ago. I am getting disconnected with increasing frequency, every 2-5 minutes now. |

EARTH TO CCCP
FEEDBACK IS APPRECIATED.
Its been 4 almost 5 days and there has been no answer, not even an acknowledgement that you are aware of the myriad of problems and bugs people are facing atm.
We pay our money per month to play, currently, your patch has made the game unplayable for thousands of people. The least you could do is give some feedback that you are working on the issue.
Not happy.

I'm doing the same but the socket problem keeps appearing with and without it.

Same problem here... It randomly disconnects.
No firewall is in use (I even turned windows fw off), directly connected via-modem...

I am also getting the intermittent "socket closed" error and upon submitting a bug, have been asked to send in pingplotter output. I guess they want to point the blame elsewhere, however I am seeing some packet loss on host "ldn-b4-link.telia.net" which is one network hop before "ccp-ic-124901-ldn-thon-s2.c.telia.net". I am also seeing the network route constantly shift, it looks like I am being flipped between "ldn-bb1-link.telia.net" and "ldn-bb2-pos6-0-0.telia.net" and each time it flips it drops a packet.....
Perhaps the ISP has a problem?
My traffic is going in via:
ash-b1-link.telia.net ldn-bb1-link.telia.net / ldn-bb2-pos6-0-0.telia.net < Constant flipping. ldn-b4-link.telia.net ccp-ic-124901-ldn-thon-s2.c.telia.net 87.237.38.200

Im still getting random disconnects with this message, cleared my cache reset all my settings overview brackets etc and still getting disconnected and STILL no official dev answer to this.
Its pretty obvious so please dont handle it as "our logs show nothing, the problem is on your side".

I dont knwo why you would think its the same issue. I never got disconnects before the patch except when my router changed ip, also it doesnt just disconnect it gives the message "your socket was closed" every time.

Well maybe it's not the same issue, but looks the same to me. I am getting random disconnects since the patch, sometimes it says socket closed, sometimes not. Nothing has changed on my end and the network pingplotter results are the same, no doubt they are related to the same cause. Either something with the CCP ISP or something flawed with the game (never!).

Not like it was intended to be fixed... but this issue still exists after patch and is very annoying. Also i dont think all of us experiencing packet loss nodes at their ISPs, caused by ccp's QR patch... Yes i did write what youve read.

Started to have this problem today, which is after the latest patch. In 4 hours, I was diconnected about 5 times, only once in station, others during missions.
This is very annoying indeed.

Hi,
I had been having this problem since the 1st patch of QR but have now found a way around it.
I have open the Recruitment channel, along with the ships, moduals and other trade channels and just turn the blink off. There are always people chatting in them and this means that eve does not idle if you are not doing anything and wont disconnect/socket closed.
This I found solved the socket closed problem but not the memory leak,
Give it a try and I hope it helps.
Cheers

Unfortunately this doesnt help. Maybe you were lucky. It doesnt only disconnect when you go afk for a few minutes or more, as i think some of us wrote it above it also disconnects when youre travelling doing something in stations or even... fighting.
Im trying to capture this socket closed dc with logserver but im so damn unlucky that i get 2 dc in 5 minutes then i start logserver up, game runs fine for 7 hours then under the LOTS of data logserver crashes, then 5 minutes after i get another dc :D Im trying to confirm that this problem still exists after the second qr patch cause i didnt get it yet.
Maybe you guys too should fire up logserver :) And if it gives a dc create a petition and send it to ccp. Would really help cause we wont solve this problem in the forums or in this topic and it seems , although they dont admit it , they have absolutely no idea what causes this problem since QR is out...

I've been getting the "The socket was closed" on session changes (particularly undocking) since QR. I'm pretty sure it's my ISP but the timing of it is suspicious.
I think next I play I'll fire up the log server and see if I can't catch it, even though I always get an Internal Server Error if try to upload a file larger than about an MB or so and if I post that info in a bug report I get a stock reply 'Please attach a log server file', which leads me to doubt CCP even reads the bug reports.

Same thing aswell with me, some have mentioned it could be a router problem tho nothing else disconnects only eve.
Im pretty clueless with these sort of problems hope a solution or working suggestion appears soon.

Same problem here, XP, cable modem, wireless router.. game plays smooth most all the time but occassionally get socket closed message (and booted from server) Usually happens in mission, and happens very often while mining. usually I can log right back in but not always. I never have any connection issues with other games or applications. nothing running in background, computer is spyware, malware, and virus free. Eve premium, I just started playing recently but this is getting massively annoying. Great game otherwise, but these kinds of problems make it nigh on unplayable.
