I dont understand anything of it though
From hop 6 you are getting around 40% packet loss. This result is different to others who has posted though by the looks of it. Try running the log server and submitting a petition to ccp bout it. Your problem might/might not be the same as everyone else in this thread. I cant really say either way.
Hop 7 hits a london server though... thoughts anyone?

Seems like you and me could have the same problem: large packet loss on "ix-4-0-0.core1.PV9-Lisbon.as6453.net [195.219.187.34]"
I can't even log in anymore. The PingPloter "fix" doesnt work for me, or any ot the other fixes.

The problem is not on your end so you can try and fix all you want on your side. It will still have the massive packetloss in london as we are all experiencing pretty much. 40%...
This smells more like a networkcapacity problem with always and massivly increasing internettraffic. Perhaps theres a large datacenter overhaul going on. Who knows.

If it's truly a capacity problem then things are going to be very interesting with the expansion and boxed re-release.

Dear CCP I thought I had my connection problem all fixed but I started getting those cursed socket errors again after switching from port 26000 as per you kb article. I'm back to the "count myself lucky if I get past the login screen" game an its rather frustrating. Please help

Just waiting for the day the usual petition answer will be varied to: "We regret our logs CAN show nothing as you suffered a socket D/C. Thus no reimbursement..." Yeah, well, cannot take too long as there seems not much done to address socket D/Cs since... um... how many months? *snicker*

Complaint nr 1 Gasillion ! Same as others, 25%-70% packetloss to the telecity thingy.. and sometimes some few % packetloss to the eve server. 30/30mbit fibre from norway. Dont have problems with ANY other online game. It really makes eve unplayable. Do someone live near the CCP offices, and can beat them until they dont ignore us anymore ?

Strong evidence to support what most everyone here already suspected.

Edited by: Zak Zerachiel on 24/02/2009 17:45:29 I'm just adding another name to the list of people who are suffering through this issue. CONSTANT disconnects, sometimes having to log in 3-6 times on an account to finally get in, and then I *might* get through the character load screen.
Very upsetting.
*Edit* And btw, this happens on 2 different PC's, one Wifi one Lan. When running 1 account or 2. I'm in Ontario, Canada.

Originally by: Buckaroo Kamakazee I am convinced that a lot of the issues is with the connection routing through Level3 hops. I was seeing huge issues with packet loss and flat out crashing on an unkonwn.Level3.net hop. CCP was claiming that this was not the issue and I need to deal with my ISP. So, I went to my ISP, they researched the whole 18 hop route. They then changed my route to a new 14 hop one that bypassed the Level3 hops. Guess what? I haven't been dc'd since. This is going on 3 weeks now. So, run pingplotter and see if you are hoping through Level3. If you are, try and see if your ISP can change the route away from them. Those of you in the UK may be SOL, but the rest of us may be able to deal with this issue.
I tried to go that route with my own ISP with Verizon FIOS Level 3 Tech Support; as it is considered an "international connectivity issue", they will not research alternative routes to the EVE server.
So, if anyone's on Verizon FIOS, forget trying to get them to research a different hop path that skips Telecity. Apparently international protocol is involved.
Next stop: contacting Telecity directly.

You need good (maybe private) proxy server with socks 5 proxy support and proxify software installed on your computer, for example Permeo Security Driver, FreeCap, Proxifier or whatever you can find.

I had to format my computer and reinstall windows and everything else, socket issues and disconnects were still happening before DT, coincidence or not it got a little better after todays extended DT with server maintenance being able to stay logged for 15 to 30 mins before disconnect HURRAY!!!, cant have 2 clients logged in though (get an almost instantly disconnect). Another thing that got better is that after disconnect i can log right after again, something that didnt before |

For some reason I've had no problems the last few nights. I wonder if this is because there was lighter load (in game and just online in general) than prime time on the weekend and so we're back to the possible capacity problem at hops like telecity. It'll be interesting to see if the problem ramps up at obviously busy times.

Having the same issues as everyone else.. You really can't play the game. 10 - 30 minutes and you're out!
Hope there's going to be a fix soon. That or with the new update on the 10th? Lets hope so!

Yeah I read that blog piece as well. You'd think though that if they are about to release something (expansion and boxed version) that will inevitably have a large initial influx that CCP would be concerned about some as basic and serious as a major routing problem between them and their customers.

Edited by: Kayl Breinhar on 26/02/2009 09:42:19 This is absolutely horrible. I'm on FiOS as well, and this has gotten absolutely epidemic in the past two weeks.
I had no problems whatsoever up until that point. Twenty minutes ago I got five in rapid succession. I'm flying a dreadnought or carrier most of the time, so a socket closure could cost me the ship. I'm posting this here to set a precedent, because if I ever do lose a dread or carrier to this, I want there to be a record, however possibly inadmissible in a petition, to document it.
PLEASE contact Telecity, CCP - you'd have more clout than one of us. For once this is a problem you don't have to fix - you merely have to persuade someone *else* to fix it.

If it takes Apocrypha to have such a bloody dump to get those Icelanders out of their igloos to notice their ISP, then let's hope Apocrypha is a bigger bust than when they overwrote people's boot.ini files.

Actually it seems to be owned by a subsidiary of PCCW called BTNAccess.
See this website and how the last part of the domain matches the server.

Also, you can see they are US based (or at least have an office there) and even have a phonenumber and email adresses for technical support.
I already wrote an email to the non-US support office but no reply yet. Maybe one of you located in the Us could give these guys a call?

yup somewhere something is fubar'ed over @ telecity.
