My trouble hop is # 14, consistent packet loss, roughly 25-30 percent. This started last week. I can't fly more than three hops in any direction without dropping connection. Last year, for months, I had this same problem, game seems to loose sync, and I get dropped. I lost two T2 fitted Ravens to this the first time around. That time, like now, a telecity router caused all the issues. Luckily, I spend most of my time doing manufacturing these days, so I haven't lost any assets. However, I can't join my corpmates on corp operations, and that makes me mad.
To CCP: This is known as a clue, STOP using telecity as your provider.
I'm on a long skill training binge until this stops...

One of CCP's routers or immediate uplink providers is crap. Also, this "2zxr.com" is a bit odd, since its DNS records are lacking - mailtx.2zxr.com does not resolve and "whois 2zxr.com" does not seem to give any results either (http://whois.domaintools.com/2zxr.com works but it's unclear how old this is).

Exactly the same for me. I'm running Vista on a Dell XPS M1730 that's all up to date. I'm finding it hellish to log on - keeps freezing out anywhere betwixt entering my password and entering the game, and when I DO finally get into the game, the socket boots me soon after. Maximum I can stay in-game is about 15 minutes, and generally it's much shorter than that. I run 2 accounts, both are affected, and none of my other programs have any problems. Seriously, CCP, this needs sorted pronto.

I did some research on the subject, and I found out a few things.
1. The IP with the DNS of mailtx.2zxr.com belongs to telecity group. It was formerly a mass email daemon provider. When telecity took it over as a routing IP, the master DNS providers apparently never updated their domain assignments.
2. Telecity hosts the backbone for several datacenters. Changing primary ISPs is not an option.
3. The place where all the packet data is caught up appears to be the gateways for telecity.
4. All of these gateways are located in the London Internet Exchange (LINX).
Following the above logic, there are two possible explanations. First possibility is that telecity routers or TQ's nodes have improperly configured packet sizes, causing packet fragmentation or packet shaping at the gateways. The second possibility is that there is a resource allocation or line quality problem between LINX and surrounding tier 1 networks. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

I'm getting a 20-40 % packet loss.
also, every time I put in a patition I get different instructions for ping plotter, none of the gms I've talked to have a standard settings for instructions on what they want.
this is a known issue, the hop telecity-redbus-gw1.ip.tiscali.net
belongs to the isp that ccp is using, if the game keeps dropping theres no point playing, I just put in my 3rd petition. with every petition I've put in I get no feed back on the issue even though I've uploaded the pingplotter file giving proof of the packet loss, all I've gotten is to change ping plotter to a different setting, every setting I've changed it to still shows that isp hop as having a massive packet loss, I've asked that they please stop giving me the run around and just get the issue fixed. guess we'll see if they care enough to fix it..........

This error has happened to me on TWO seperate networks im rather afraid to even leave the station and do missions, im not going to lose a ship worth 400m because my socket has closed, most of the time for me it happens before i even undock when im going through assets or contracts, most of the time they wont even load and i get booted. I dont even get a chance to make it out of the station most of the time, needless to say I'd rather not play if im going to lose a ship and not have it reimbursed to me.

That's a bit different than the problem the rest of us are encountering. 17 packets dropped over the course of 5 hours is just the internet being the internet.
A majority of us are encountering erratic behavior with the machine directly before the Eve servers themselves. A machine operated by the ISP CCP is using in London. Not just a few packets here and there, but the machine losing it's mind on a regular basis.
It's a pretty sad state of affairs that this has been going on for 3 months and not a hint of a response from CCP. I think though I know why.

There is now a new hop where before was a dead end: ipt-ccp-games-i-as35834.lon3.telecity.net (217.20.44.138).
I'm hoping this is the "fix," but it'd be nice if someone official came out and acknowledged the problem.

I have that new machine in my route as well and it appears to be stable.
However there's also another Telescruby router two hops before it at 85.90.226.205 that's dropping 20% of it's packets. I'm hoping it doesn't take another 3 months before CCP can get them to fix that one as well.

FFS.
The problem was NEVER telecity. The problem is the outlying gateways routing INTO telecity. I seriously doubt that the host of one of the largest datacenters is to blame when it's their ISPs that are losing packets.
Since Telecity re-routed all of their tables to try and eliminate any possible machines in their control, and the same problems persist, it places LINX as the most likely culprit. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

Still getting lost packets in the 50%-75% range at the pccwbtn hop, but at least the 10 hop is no longer a 100% wall of fail. We'll see how it does tonight.

well now this is interesting. After 2+ years here whithout a problem I all of a sudden have a connection issue. While I supply proof that this is not an issue with my network or ISP and (stupidly) tell CCP that I was able to connect from another provider (giving them the route) they come back and tell me that this is not their issue there is nothing they are going to fix. So goodbye loyal customer. unless people start hitting them in the pocketbook this is not going to get fixed.

How did you set this up?
Its fairly easy.
1) Open Pingplotter
2) In the bottom Left there are several value boxes under the heading "samples"
3) Change "# of times to trace" to a high number, like 15000. This means literally how many times ping plotter will "ping" whatever addy you put into it to trace.
4)Change "trace interval" to 1 sec. This means that pingplotter will "ping" every second.
5) Type in eve server addy ( 87.237.38.200)
6) Hit trace and leave running in the background.
More info on page 4 or 5 I think where a GM links the pingplotter website.
If you are having this issue then as stated, this may/may not bandaid it for the time being.

Trace complete.
Look at the lag spike from 13-17....~15 ms to almost 100 in one hop? That doesn't seem right. Looks like a backbone issue to me...
Of course, this is on a 24mbit network from my college, so the low latency is expected, but those jumps are odd. Strangely enough, I've had 0 connection issues so far. ----------------------------------- "What can go wrong, will go wrong." |

~15ms to almost 100 in one hop? That doesn't seem right. Looks like the route is taking an unexpected detour from New York to London. It's not like that kind of dist... Oh, wait. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |
