Why don't you guy just chill out . Most pay to play mmo's charge for their patches and call the expansion packs . CCP make a patch and call it what it is a patch . They dont charge for it and they give us a free ship and extra sp .
Yes it would be nice if they actually gave us a vague idea of what went wrong . In all honesty is it that bad that you have to wait a few hours to get into the game . Theres more to life .
Go out get drunk and get laid . Just live a little while the server is down . Its just a game.

Relax people, back in 2006 and before patch days use to be patch " DAYS!!! " Aka, more then 1. Your lucky to get the quick patch's and fix's you do now.
Back then we use to play with a super lagged market, database server crashing left and right and the server could go down at any minute due to node death issues.
It use to take CCP an entire week to make the server stable again and that was with 2-3h downtime after the patch daily so they could deploy hot fix's to make everything awesome again.
Now i know it's not most peoples strong suits to be able to wait, and most of them suffer from some sort of compulsive OCD but come on.
And to those who think they can do better? Why havn't you yet?

When the servers working the game is great.
Unfortunatley, recently the server has seen better days. We had a 31 hour downtime just a week ago but are getting compensated in the way of some more skillpoints.
Yet a week later we have yet another extended --> extended downtime.
So yeah right now CCP > fail

Oh come on, everybody should know by now that they always push back uptime for patches, yes it is highly irritating but it is what happens, always.
You should have all seen "15.00" and assumed "19.00" and gone and done something more constructive with your time!

Really bad @ CCP(LOL) - You never learn that customers dont want to wait? Get more personal for this jobs and more GM¦s because to answer the petitions takes extremly more time then this Downtime.
Is there a chance that we could get a real start-up time for the servers?
That¦s the easiest way ... We could do better things then wait for a extend after extend of the down-time. Really Really Bad..

You couldn't be more wrong! I have 45 years experience with IT for fortune 500 companies. Never in my entire career were my customers subjectet to the constant missed deadlines and vacumn of information about the 'occassional' problems that should be expected.
CCP really sucks at quality control, estimation of time/complexity of installations, and most importantly, the communication that should apply when problems are encountered.

It's down one hour each day. Hence the reason why they say they operate 23/7. But patches, sometimes they take longer than they first estimated. Such is life.

Wow, downtime on daily basis also is late? If i recall correctly, almost everyday we can log in about 40 to 45 minuten early in the game when downtime commences. Yet, you claim that they have never met their downtime estimates. Wow, great statement.

Well I could'nt careless how long it takes to get their cluster and database up and running and lets face it - it's a lot of data they are playing with, and mistakes can affect a lot players - so double checking is good. What is not good is just continually adding time keeping people on tender hooks so to speak. Just whack 5-10 hours on it, deal with it, do what you need too. people will all come back when its ready. Anyways I'm off to bed. |

Extended downtime on June 29th 2010 for deployment of the Tyrannis 1.0.2 patch. Downtime will start at 11:00 UTC and is expected to be completed at some point when i finish counting sheep.

Max liability; 1 month of service (and I don't think the plaintiff even received that)

I suggest the name of this game should be changed
from EVE Online
to EVE Offline
because the original name suggest that CCP can held this game up and running and they know what they are doing but considering the usual server-reboots, downtimes and especially delays BY EVERY PATCH/ADD-ON ... this suggestion is slightly wrong

A continual problem with CCP is the lack of quality control, change management, and development life cycle management in testing prior to patch launch. In Systems development life cycle with a customer base this large it would make sense to "thoroughly" test this patch in an alternate system prior to go live with Beta testers from the community. With the continual extensions in any patch we see that the change process CCP management is currently using are lacking.
Not a gamer issue but a management issue.
