i sincerely hope that the devs of the game that has entertained me so much for the past 3 years do not step on the faith that they themselves have helped generate in the players' hearts.
there is always the profit motive, but we expect limits on the money grabbing hand.
please, please do not put in any MT items that directly effect gameplay. I dont know what game i'll end up playing.

Uhh, wake up?
Chomskian, since we've pretty much got direct proof from CCP that they aren't listening to the customers you should probably start shopping now. They have a course, they aren't altering it for this minor and _very predictable feedback_. They're looking at the number of MT items sold.
They made THOUSANDS of dollars overnight. They really don't care what the rest of the player base does.

Originally by: Android Mindslave The thing that gets me is that they think we are actually stupid.
Sure, we run around and jump up and down and holler, but the underlying problems and concerns have been communicated quite clearly and intelligently. CCP simply refuses to deal with their customers. There isn't anything intelligent left to say because there is no dialog.
The fact that the customers are even sticking around to jump up and down and scream is a damn gift to CCP. When a customer gets angry and starts yelling, that means they want to give you a second chance. They want you to fix things. The true FU is when a customer simply walks away.
The fact that they think "lets just hide until they stop screaming at us" is even some sort of cunning plan that is going to result in anything other than customers walking away.
Plus, you know people are going to badmouth CCP over this.
I never played Starwars, I don't know exactly what the NGE is, yet I know about it and I know it adds some level of :lolsony: when it comes to MMOs.
Fact of the matter is that CCP thinks they can treat us like serfs. Resources they are entitled to exploit, and that anything we want is because we are the ones with the entitlement complex. Fact is, we pay subs. Fact is that we are MAD AS HELL over the fact that CCP is embezzling those subs off to non-EVE stuff. We are paying, they are not delivering, and they think WE are the ones acting like entitled unruly little children?
The only thing going on here is that we are calling BULL on them.
I was there from the beginning, I remember sony giving us a free day because their login servers couldnt handle the initial login load. I was there for CU, I was there for NGE, I left about 2 days afterwards. I dont think my PA survived the week. NGE.... when SWG lost about 80-85% of their playerbase overnight, maybe more, numbers are/were hard to verify. I hope that Eve doesn't .... become so devoid. I hope that it doesnt become PtW.
But... the same inherent problems that surrounded Sony, and NGE, currently surrounds EVE and CCP and Microtransactions. Lack of communications, lack of costumer respect, management ... issues. I remember that when NGE was released... the PR director quit within the hour of the patch release... also quoting Pann... "I am sorry, I have failed you." Tiggs said the exact same thing....
History, when you don't learn from it, you are doomed to repeat it.

CCP you continue to escalate this crisis by not doing what you need to be doing which is responding to the community in a professional matter. That is not "knee jerk" it is what a responsible company does.
The blog post was in my opinion a half baked attempt to pass the buck. Meanwhile your company PR is being torn apart on blog sites and semi major media. And now the exposure of the email is likely what will cause many people on the sidelines to go on and unsubscribe.
You are refusing to come out and say that the new microtranaction currency will not ever be used to buy items or anything that can affect the space game. This is in my opinion now costing your company more money though lost subscriptions and lost employee productivity than microtransactions could EVER give you as far as financial resources.
It is just about at the point of being the biggest criris in EVE online's long history. Because it is one step away (Which is the confirmation of the microtranaction currency being able to affect gameplay) from a percentage of the playerbase to simply leave. Which in my opinion will be a crushing financial blow to CCP resuling in reduced ability to develop future titles needed to remain a viable company.
You know what happens when a company has that happen to them? Their investors or controlling interest's sell them elseware in fear of continued failure.
I have said it once and I'll say it again I WILL leave Eve online in the event the microtranaction currency is able to purchase items that effect the space gameplay.

The issue now is CCP's disregard and arrogance and attitude towards us.
You are wasting your breath with your "chief complaints".
We have got all the TRUTH we need now, the message was CLEAR.

ack! i made it to the end! now i can post while feeling informed! (kinda, its still the internet)
i want to give CCP the benefit of the doubt. therefore, i will cancel my sub when they introduce microtransactions for real stuff, not just monocles and boots.
i want a competitive MMORPG where the answer is "work harder" or "fight smarter" and not "shop more". i was hoping that eve would be that game. please don't make me go.
as far as money goes, i was planning on using the buddy program to get my cousin into the game. we had planned an elaborate event tommorow where me and my buddies on TS would closely moniter his first steps into this world and help him as much as we could. we've canceled the event, because his graphics card is worse than mine, i run CQ at 19 FPS on low settings, and we didnt have the heart to tell him to turn off load station enviros before he got into the game for the first time.
we thought that would show a lack of confidence in the game. after thought, we realized that we don't have any confidence. expect my entire corp(alliance?) to leave when i do, as soon as microtransactions for real stuff begins.

This is fricken mental.
They send out a PR person to handle our complaints. While they plan never to give a flying rats ass about a damn thing we say.
This just means Pann is as guilty of the CEO for lying to us. Since she had to know that this was the case from the get go. While pretending that it mattered. Guess that's why there was so little interaction with the customers in the thread. They just made the thread to pretend to be doing something about it.
They really think we are to stupid to see through this.

There's really no evidence they made money. Those PLEX to fund the AUR could have been bought with ISK. Those PLEX bought that caused a price in PLEX prices doesn't mean those PLEX will be replaced aggressively if there is a decreased demand because there's less people willing to buy them.
Meaning, that CCP is losing money under the justification that 52 items were bought.
Really?
That's their best justification. 52 were purchased out of 400,000 players?
52 * 12000 AUR = 648,000 AUR.
If they had sold them for 300 AUR ($20/10=$2) they might have sold over 10,000 units = 3,000,000 AUR.
Micro-transactions don't work because they're unjustifiably expensive. They work because people think "EH, it's only $2" and then a before you know it a hundred thousand have been sold.

Forum moderator's response to this shows their true colors and loyalty. They bit the bullet and should be fired at on sight (and their known alts). Nowhere in-game should be safe for them to dockup. Chase them back to their private sector of blocked space, they do not deserve to play with what's left of EVE.

No seriously... If the Titanic had crashed straight into the iceberg it would have stayed afloat.
Instead the idiot of a first officer tried to avoid the collision completely to save face and job, ending up gashing up the whole side of the ship dooming it to a watery grave.
A very apt similitude to what CCP has done the past months.

I'm betting those 52 monocles were not bought with real money. I'd be veeeery surprised if, given the uproar and shaky ground that EVE as a game is on, anyone is buying GTC's at all right now...
52 monocles is a victory? You make CCP sound like total airheads Hilmar...
How many subs have you lost? How fast will your player base grow now that your company image is being torn apart? Does 52 virtual eye-pieces equate?
You are going to find yourselves with 10% of the subs and those people having to fork out HUGE amounts of $$$ to buy this crap because you'll then NEED the revenue to keep EVE alive at all...you can bin the other games for a start...
TL:DR EVE was doing well, it was growing and it was making history. Now you're going down in history as liars and cheats.
