Those new animations are totally annoying. I do not talk about motion sickness or epileptic seizures, whatever. It is just annoying- especially in case you do a lot of jumps everyday. Same goes for the scan sweep- why do i have to see this all the time? I have no interest in exploration at all.

I don-¦t think the effort put into CQ is comparable to this animation disaster we see now. For me this expansion smells like a hastily cobbled together nice try. |

So because of you working in IT and have modded then you know this is very hard to change .... thanks, needless mess more here. You have answered the question .... you know absolutely nothing about this problem in EVE is difficult to change. If you knew anything about game modification and using self developed as well as developer provided tools to do so, you'd realize how silly you look right now.
Yes, I am very familiar with coding limitations. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. I think the new jump animation is awesome. It seems to have this slight bend effect in it that almost made me fall out of my seat a couple times. Which hasn't happened since I played the original doom and hid under my desk after I met a cyberdemon. I haven't tried multiboxing yet. Those who do and have lag should maybe try affinity binding? If the developers can't patch it. There's usually sometimes 60% of the time always a tweak. |

Fair enough Ranger. Selective quoting can be a problem.
But I've noticed that you have not responded to the idea that algorithm efficiency must be weighed against a concern for human cognitive factors. As someone with experience on the comp-sci side of things, I'd be curious to hear what you think. |

I am still not convinced this is a real medical issue and its just people dont want the warp cloud or in the case of Bee, once again throwing **** at CCP for no other reason than he hates this game. |

You are just further showing your lack of understanding in how the human brain works. People will often become attached to things, especially after spending large quantities of time with said things over a period of years. It may seem trivial to some, or even most, but when said thing is removed and/or replaced with something completely foreign, the reactions tend to be...disastrous. |

But I've noticed that you have not responded to the idea that algorithm efficiency must be weighed against a concern for human cognitive factors. As someone with experience on the comp-sci side of things, I'd be curious to hear what you think. For now I think they are taking the most common sense approach possible. The effect itself is wildly popular with the majority of the player base, so they are going to wait for the inevitable threads from those who will complain about any change (and usually over dramatize it to make their point) to run their course. Then once that is died down a bit make a concerted effort to determine how many people actually have a serious issue with the effect.
A knee jerk reaction at this point would be silly. If they were in the habit of doing so we would not have a warp effect at all in game currently (along with many, many other effects we take for granted today).
Once they have determined that despite studies and all other evidence to the contrary there is an actual problem for a significant portion of the player base (and no, it doesn't have to be a large portion) they begin to pinpoint the parts of the effect that produce the discomfort and begin to consider options. Those options will depend of how flexible the code is, and how difficult those changes would be to implement.
If it turns out to be a huge problem and the effect cannot be practically modified to allieviate the problem, then we'll be back to a loading bar (and a LOT of people will be very, very angry in the community), until they can figure something else out. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |

From what i see (and that smaaaaall number of topics/post on forum) more than 90% of players like new jump animations, and they don't cry.

Well out of the hundreds of pilots have have flown with over the last few days in the CFC not one of them has said anything other than "well that got old fast". Infact I know of no CFC member complaining about "throwing up" when jumping systems.
Not exactly scientific but if this was a big problem chances are someone I come in contact with would have said something. |
